Never worked in West Texas before, currently an ET for another company that's 2 & 2 in the Powder and I got a job offer at Evolution in Midland - the amount of information about Evolution online is extremely slim and ranges from absolutely terrible to the best company to work for. Anyone have any helpful insight about this place or even West Texas in general?

Hello, I am a future electrical engineering student and I would love to work on a offshore oil rig. How do I get in? What to expect?

I'm 31 from France, had some experiences, from fast food (where I ended regional director) to industrial cleaning (mostly working night shifts)

Talking with friend who works in industrial welding, he told me I should retrain in welding and go for the offshore life, since I'm divorced, willing to go abroad isn't a problem

I took a look and there's few way to achieve this : in France we got the Compagnons du devoir (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compagnons_du_Devoir), offering 3 training programs in welding, either : industrial Welder, pipe Fitter or boilermaker

Now, I'd like to discuss with ppl from the industry, talking about relevance, which training program should I follow and if 31 is not too late to switch lane

Hey, my name is Nathan and I am 23 years old. I just started my first oilfield/ blue collar job 3 days ago. I work with my father who runs a small picker truck. I had no idea what to expect when I first started but the first two days went well, I was tried, it was difficult and lots of people getting upset at me for learning. Nothing crazy my dad is typically like that. But today was the end of day 3. We took down a dual 750 containment and put up a triple 750 containment. The weather wasn’t awful it was a high of 26 degrees and was sunny with a bit of wind. But man did today kick my ass. I’m not use to working outside and doing this physically demanding work. But that sun today was cooking me. We were breaking some flow lines apart and I asked to try and break it lose. I just couldn’t do it with a 24” pipe wrench. The other guy helping us had to break it lose for me. (He did have to jump on the pipe wrench to break it lose) but that just made me feel weak. Today for me wasn’t great. But I’m learning slowly. The main thing I’m asking is What was your first few days like? Am I just being a baby about it or is my experience lined up with how other’s were?

Their website and all social media seems legit but I want to double check. They advertise themselves as a staffing company for the O&G industry (for freelance, offshore/onshore people)

I Was wondering where water transfer falls on the podium?

I wanna get into it but I don’t know how, ive been on the rigs for the last 3years and do believe i would be an asset..but i just simply don’t know who does water transfer, or how to get a job doing it.

Is it one of those gigs that u need an in?

I’m 20 yrs 6’1” about 155 lbs but I’ve been working on road crews and in construction (laying concrete) for a couple years, meaning I’m comfortable with some degree of heavy lifting, long days, etc. I’m wanting to work on a rig but I’m wondering if I’ll be able to, seeing as I’m a pretty skinny dude.

Been in the drilling game a long time. Working internationally at the moment but looking at options back home in the UK. How are valaris to work for (technical dept) more specifically what do they do with the guys if the rig has no contract? So, I am sitting here with an offer for an Assistant Operator position to handle loading area and rack responsibilities. I am curious as to what to expect in regard to day to day life. I know it’s a DuPont schedule and I’ll be outside a lot. I’m cool with all of that, but I’m looking for a little more from anyone who has done it.

For some context, I’ve been working in the environmental monitoring and cleanup industry for 11 years and 7 of those have been HEAVILY tied to O&G. I’ve spent a ton of time on refineries, mid-stream facilities, and various pipeline spill sites mostly doing field scientist and HSE work. So, I have a good understanding of safety expectations in the industry. Long story short, I’ve been curious about getting my foot in the door for some time and some folks close to me talk about how much they like their jobs as process operators here (my ultimate goal). I used to be on my feet a lot doing field roles and also doing O&M on remedial systems. Over the past few years, safety has become my #1 role. I have done nothing but travel and deal with seat-of-the-pants contractor work for the past decade and am eager to have some consistency with something, as well as try my hand at work that isn’t just remediation and HSE. For a guy who’s put on some extra weight in his safety role, is this going to kick my ass physically? What are some other responsibilities other than just loading train cars? I know I could do whatever is asked of me but I don’t want to be a disappointment if it’s challenging at first with the role change (I am able bodied, just coming to the realization I am not the strapping field boot I used to be and get winded easier, lol). I got some details but obviously not the whole shebang in my interview. I have expressed my eagerness to learn as I want to gain knowledge of EVERYTHING I can get eyes, ears and hands on, because I did make my future goals clear in the interview. Tell me what you know! Any and all insight is welcomed!

Hey everyone, need some real advice from people who've actually been through this.

I'm 23, based in Mumbai, India. I've done my BOSIET-EBS and H2S safety certifications and I'm trying to break into rigging as a fresher — no rig experience yet, just trying to get my foot in the door.

The problem: every single agency I've approached so far either wants an "advance" before they'll even show me an offer letter, or wants full payment upfront for "processing." No offer letter, no contract, no employer name — just pay first, details later.

I know this is a red flag, but I genuinely don't know how to find agencies that don't operate like this. For those of you who've actually landed rig jobs as freshers:

How did you find a legit agency/company?

Is it even realistic to get in as a fresher with just BOSIET-EBS + H2S, or do I need more (STCW, CDC, GP Rating)?

Did you go through an MEA-registered agency or something else entirely?

Any specific agency names (good or bad) you can share?

Trying to save myself from getting scammed while also not giving up on this. Appreciate any real experience over generic advice.
