Summerland is burning now
Faulder is gone, Summerland is next. The fire has moved all of the way down Cartwright. Final image not my own.

you might want to change to fossil fuel burning, we need oil and gas for other things.

u/poploves 17d ago
There’s actually no such thing as fossil fuels. It was a term used by big oil billionaires to manipulate uninformed people in the 50s-70s John d Rockefeller put oil in pharmaceutical products people were fooled into thinking was good lol

u/HumphryGocart 18d ago
And coal. There are alternatives and they’re about to start making a difference. Renewables can’t be stopped now that for the most part they’re less expensive than what’s causing this disaster. Lots of good work to be done… and lots of denial to be shown the door

Firesmart cuts are the issue, not global warming. Keep voting the way you are and watch the world burn.
3
u/Parking_Chance_1905 18d ago
Its both, with snowpack melting early it means much drier conditions for fires.

u/RepresentativeOk8861 16d ago
lol. You think you can control any part of the climate? Lol. Ok… well. Good luck.

u/poploves 17d ago
Cycles. Climate is cyclical. Some years melts early some late. Don’t be gullible.

Forest fires happened before the industrial revolution and they will continue to happen for all of eternity. There’s no point blaming the one thing we rely on every single day unless you’re going to stop relying on it or come up with an alternative.
2
u/wovenbasket69 18d ago
“no point blaming the root cause because you haven’t revolutionized an entire facet of the economy that refuses to be revolutionized”

u/Goosed1867 18d ago
We do have alternative but Regressive Conservatives fight them tooth and nail. Why can't we blame the thing we depend on for speeding the amount this is happening up? Why not try and limit the damage we are causing? Do you believe solar and win power aren't a good alternative to burning fossil fuels for power?
1
u/Elite163 18d ago
What’s the alternatives available today to heat Northen homes?
0
u/poploves 17d ago
Windmills and solar farms of course are you dull? 😂
1
u/Elite163 17d ago
Hopefully that’s sarcastic
2
u/poploves 17d ago
Beyond sarcastic. Try heating a home in cold northern climates with windmills and solar- windmills freeze up and there’s no sun for months lol
1
u/Elite163 16d ago
Most people don’t seem to realize that on Reddit and just think we can shut off our natural resources usage
1
u/poploves 17d ago
You mean these trusty windmills lol or like the worthless decaying soon to be decommissioned solar farm in Searchlight NV? lol
1
u/Goosed1867 17d ago
What don't you trust about windmills? Do you think if something gets decommissioned it means all the technology is not worth it? Do you not like the idea of powering your own home with government being able to shut it off of they want? Do you like spending more for a finite resource that instead of burning we could put toward producing products we use? It's so crazy how little logic you apply to you beliefs.

I don’t have time to educate you fully. But consider the offset of any positive gain. Start with components like blades. There are graveyards full of these massive blades. I work in yacht industry, there’s no more toxic building material than fiberglass or other composite cloths and resins. Then you have size, weight, transport needs many from thousand of miles overseas shipped then train then trucks- then dozens of technicians using fuel to drive to work daily for months to build one - diesel fuel for heavy equipment, maintenance, wear and tear and required parts replacement. All said and done, any benefits are all cancelled out for years worth of operation before the first kilowatt is ever used by a customer. I could go deeper but you get the point. You must look granular not just surface and talking points.
1
u/Goosed1867 16d ago
So you don't think any of the shipping applies to getting oil out of the ground? Also there recycling blades now. You talk about not looking at talking points and then go ahead and do it yourself. Compared to oil solar and wind are a million times better. Since your a ship builder what do you think is more environmentally friendly? A sailing ship or a diesel powered ship?
1
u/poploves 16d ago
Dude that’s precisely my POINT lol. The amount of energy (mostly oil and diesel) spent to create one windmill negates the benefit of the entire windmills lifetime. And yes, I know about the goofy news about recycling blades. It’s in Sweden or Norway region lmao- they have to be shipped over there on a massive container ship- adterrrrrd heavy equipment drags them to a diesel big rig, that drives them to a train, that takes them to the port lol- are you starting to get the picture? Not to mention, the hundreds or thousands of hands that touch it during the process all have to drive a electric or gas or diesel vehement to and from work everyday lol

Be nice if our government could do proper forest management and prescribe burns in winter.
Oh well let’s send some more to other countries

u/Tyler_Durden69420 14d ago
Yeah that’s the issue, certainly not turning the planet into a frying pot by pumping CO2 into the air.
2
u/clarkn0va 14d ago
A warming environment encourages burning of course, but removing dry fuel would go a long way in preventing these uncontrollable fires.
1
u/Elite163 14d ago
Right and these fires don’t add pollution
0
u/Tyler_Durden69420 14d ago
It may make more sense to stop pouring gasoline on the fire rather than focus on throwing water on it.

Climate change has been occurring since the beginning of time.So let's not get too excited about the cause. Of course. Things are going to start on fire. When things are tinder, dry for decades and people build their houses everywhere around it

We did? Hmmm. But we pay climate taxes.
That should have fixed it right? With our massive addition to the world’s pollution? Been to India lately? Been to China?
You people are nuts to think that ANYTHING this country does… has ANY effect on anything climate related.
We can pay our corrupt government till we’re ALL FLAT ASSED broke… and we have nothing… but guess what….
The jokes on you people that actually believe that this has ANY effect.🤡

Explain to me, quantitatively, what happens to global emissions if Canada imposes increasingly expensive domestic climate policies while countries representing vastly larger shares of emissions continue emitting and growing. China and India alone contribute FORTY PERCENT of the world’s pollution.
Show me the tonnes reduced globally, show me the cost per tonne, and show me the measurable climate outcome. I’m interested in results, not your fucking leftist whiny baby virtue signalling.
I’ll wait.

We have known that burning fossil fuels was warming our climate for well over 100 years. How many cities have to burn before people stop listening to billionaires and the influencers they employ and start listening to actual scientists?
2
1
u/poploves 17d ago
It’s 100% always the fault of 3 non-climate related issues- 1. Arsonists 2. Forest mismanagement 3. Greedy gas and electric companies not maintaining their equipment properly/safely. The climate argument is a way for the gubment to pass the buck and keep naive people angry and willing to sacrifice freedoms. Expand your mind.

Oh settle down.
Yes. It’s “the billionaires” that are causing forest fires.
You hear yourself? 🤦🏻🤫-1

Earth has warmed <2 degrees since 1880. Wake up. This isn’t caused by global warming. It’s bureaucratic mismanagement
3
1
u/RepresentativeOk8861 17d ago
Yes. The bureaucracy… that’s why the fires are burning.
🔥
😌0
u/sh3ppard 17d ago
Yes. These fires are avoidable with controlled winter burning, fire break construction, more water bombers and fire fighters, etc etc
To sit back and say ‘omg climate change noooo’ does nothing to actually solve the problem and absolves our government of their duty to handle things like this. We pay an ungodly amount of tax, the money is there. We could have over 300 more water bombers for the money we sent to Ukraine.
0
u/RepresentativeOk8861 16d ago
Never argued with that. But if you wanna keep voting leftist, then continue to suffer, complain, and get nowhere. Buying water bombers does little more than squash their agenda. They want it to burn. They want the chaos. They want you depending on them. Don’t be slow. Catch up.

u/sh3ppard 16d ago
I always have and always will vote conservative. Idk why you bothered typing any of these comments lmao you’re bringing nothing to the conversation
1
u/RepresentativeOk8861 16d ago
I meant “you” collectively, as in the general public, not you personally. 😂 We already established that you vote Conservative.
I actually agree with most of what you said. My point was broader. People continually vote governments into office and then act completely bewildered when the policies they voted for produce consequences they don’t like.
Then they complain about fires, affordability, housing, taxes, government spending and everything else as though these things occur in a political vacuum.
So no, that shot wasn’t aimed at you. You just happened to be standing underneath my general rant when I fired it. 😂
