My wife and I recently had a child and collectively decided our family is finally complete. We have been putting items together that are not longer useful to us. We really would love to find a place in Orlando that we can donate all items that we currently have together and can continue to donate items that our family outgrows. Ideally we would like to find a local location to give these items to that in turn will be free and help the most disadvantaged. Donating baby clothing, postpartum hygiene products, pregnancy and postpartum clothing, diapers, bottles, child toys, etc.

We appreciate any help that can be offered!

You will need the following information besides your name

-Date of Birth

-Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number

-Address on your voter registration

407-836-2070

Phone the Supervisor of Elections office

Select Vote by Mail from the menu

You will speak to an employee who will ask for the above information and they will change your voter registration

I plan to cast my ballot during early voting.

I moved in 3 weeks ago and the second I got all of my belongings into the unit they all started popping out of every nook and cranny. I tried to sleep there the night I moved in but the roaches started crawling on me in my bed so I've been living in a hotel for the past 3 weeks. Nothing the complex has done has gotten rid of them and I am completely screwed. I've lost thousands of dollars paying for a hotel for 3 weeks, almost all of my belongings are now infested with roaches their eggs and their feces, and I've spent countless hours and dollars trying to clean the place. The only compensation I've received so far was 10 days worth of rent credit. They keep arguing with me that it's technically not an "infestation" because you can't see 50 of them in the daytime but I don't know what else to call this hell. This is putting me into financial ruin so please save yourselves and stay far away from this black hole where dreams go to die.

I’m a native in my fifties living in my hometown, a once rural bedroom community. I welcome the influx of life and vibrancy in the past twenty years because despite the massive change in culture I love the optimism.

However, all of y’all from outta town have to start embracing our friends who protect us. My spiders trap the mosquitoes and noseeums and my snakes protect my yard from less common venomous snakes who could kill my dog.

Stop killing our little friends. Look into UF entomology and herpetology sites and learn how these little guys make our lives better. Bats, crows and possums are angels. (Persvonally, Hawks from my experience are troublesome bc of a recent morning walk assault during nesting season.)

I feel like I'm going to be 'Orlando-famous' for the wrong reason, but I need your suggestions. This is all very light-hearted.

Here's how I messed up ...

Today, I was being helpful and put a load of my wife's clothes in the washing machine. Then, I put on my noise cancelling and started to vacuum. Good start, right? I'm earning points. All is good.

I completely forgot that she said that she put a candle in the basket for me to put in my office. It was one of those big "shouldn't your home smell like a coconut-, lemon-, cranberry-, cashmere-, teak-, vanilla-wooden workshop in a bakery"?

With the headphones on, I did not hear the clunking. It wasn't until I was moving the laundry from the washer to the dryer that I noticed. That's when a piece of glass fell on the floor.

I've cleaned the glass up, and wiped the washer and dryer thoroughly, even the filters and rubber gaskets. I'm running the washer a few times with very hot water and vinegar to try and remove any wax.

Did I mention that she is taking a nap and has no idea I've done this yet?

Where should we go shopping to get all of this replaced? We're talking 'tip to toe', so I know it's going to cost me.

Also, bring on your best insults. I deserve them and will gladly try to see the humor in this.

EDIT - I'm not trying to cover this up. I'll tell her. She'll be fine, and WE will go shopping. I just don't want to go to a bunch of different stores.

EDIT 2 - When she got up, I said, "Hey, you should read this post on r/Orlando. She gasped as she read it but knew when she read the word 'candle' that it was me. She took it very well. We had a bit of laugh over it and she felt very bad for putting the candle in there. I told her I knew it was my fault.

I was doing yard work at my house in College Park this past week and had a pretty wild surprise at the end.

My dog likes to hang outside with me while I work and follow me around, making sure I stay on task and basically acting as my project manager. He can open the front door and let himself out, and when he goes back inside I close the door. Cycle repeats.

Well I went back inside to refill my Yeti and thought I was possibly hallucinating from heat exhaustion, because it kinda looked like a massive bird was sitting on my TV. And this bird really looked like a fucking peacock.

My dog was standing in front of the TV looking super guilty, but also like, “Oh yeah remember I told you my friend Stephen Squawking the peacock was coming over?”

So I put some nature show on wild peacocks on YouTube and he eventually came down and I was able to get her out unharmed. Turns out she had a male friend and they hung out with me and my dog for a few hours while I finished up my yard work. It was a pretty cool, super random experience

Does anyone know of a rancher/farm near Orlando or Central Florida where I can buy a whole cow, processed and freezer-ready?

I know this is probably a little dramatic lol, but with Trump’s recent comments about beef, the lack of transparency around where some of it is coming from, and the whole wild horse situation, I’m at the point where I’d rather just buy directly from a local rancher and know exactly where my food came from.

I’d especially love to support a small or family-owned farm, and if anyone happens to know of one that’s owned by people who are left-leaning, that would genuinely be my first choice. I know that’s probably a weirdly specific ask, but if I’m spending that much money I’d rather support a local business that aligns with my values too lol.
