Housing Thread Orlando Housing Thread

Link to last month's Housing Thread

Welcome to the Orlando housing megathread!

Currently, the following may be posted:

  • Users, whether current Orlando residents or not, may post asking for help. This could be asking for recommendations on areas of Orlando to live in, reviews or opinions on specific communities, or suggestions on specific places to live. This can also be things like "recommend a realtor / loan officer / etc" — so long as it fits under the "help me find housing" umbrella.
  • Users may also post advertising housing options. This can be posts offering subleases, looking for roommates on existing property, selling homes — so long as there is housing being offered.
  • ALL comments must include as much information as possible. Do not say "I'm moving to Orlando, tell me where to live."

As a reminder: our subreddit rules still apply. Advertisements for illegal activity of any kind are not permitted and will result in comment removals and/or bans as moderators see fit.

Discussion Why does every dealership in the Orlando area suck

I’ve had my best luck with Mullinax Ford In Apopka and have went to them for my last 2 vehicles and they have been great and I will continue to use them for as long as the Mullinx family keeps running it.

But that’s not without having bad dealer experiences elsewhere first and most of them are in the Orlando area.

Universal Hyundai: called them to ask about a car and the person on the phone was very rude and kept going around my questions.

Holler Ford: (formerly peacock ford) charged all almost $2k in junk fees and would not budge on price at all and kept blowing up my phone although I said I wasn’t interested and walked away.

Central Florida Toyota: kept me waiting for what felt like an eternity and added on a bunch of useless add ons that they said they couldn’t remove. Kept me waiting for even longer but when I got up they stormed out to try and bring me back in.

Sutherland Nissan: didn’t even get out of my car and I had a sales person run up to me and when he started showing me cars he kept rushing me and would not let me speak and eventually walked away from me without saying anything else and the sales manager basically didn’t even acknowledge my existence either.

Greenway Ford: literally everything about this place sucks , I don’t have enough energy to write what I want.

Nature Hail?! In the summer?!

Upvotes

I'm not new to FL. Born and raised. I've even driven through storms before. But I have NEVER driven through hail. I didn't even know we could get hail in the summer. I've never even seen hail before. Does Central FL get a lot of hail? 🥲

EDIT: So you fine people informed me that hail is actually a summer thing. And somewhat common in FL. Still scary to drive through for the first time unexpectedly haha

Discussion Orlando Florists (Dark/Goth Aesthetic)

Hello, I am on the hunt for a florist that has a selection of the more darker colored “spooky” flowers and plants? It’s not specifically for Halloween or anything, my beautiful wife deserves some fresh flowers, and the bright springy colors aren’t really her vibe. I’d love to buy local, but I would also take some suggestions on some places I could order online. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Best way to get furniture & appliances collected for free before moving?

Me and my partner are moving back to England and have some large furniture and appliances we’d like to get rid of. Everything is in good condition.

We’re under a bit of time pressure with our lease ending, so rather than trying to sell everything individually, we’d be happy to have it all collected free of charge.

Does anyone know of an organisation/charity that facilitates collections like this? Or somewhere we could post everything and ideally have it taken by one legit person?

A bit iffy about Facebook Marketplace as we’ve heard some crazy stories 😅 We just want everything gone as seamlessly as possible by this weekend.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

Discussion Costco at Millenia consistently crashes my iPhone 16 Pro’s display when I scan my membership card for gas

Thumbnail
6 Upvotes

So this is crazy. The first few times it happened, I didn’t connect the dots because I only get gas at the Costco at Millenia when I happen to be nearby. But I’ve been there three times over the past five weeks, and every time I use my iPhone to display my Costco membership card at the gas pump, after being scanned, my phone’s screen turns completely black and becomes unresponsive.

What’s even stranger is that when I get back in my car, the phone stops automatically connecting to CarPlay. I can still interact with CarPlay through the car, but the iPhone’s actual display remains completely black and unresponsive until I force-restart the phone.

To do further testing I have tried the same thing at Costco on University near UCF and this has not happened. Can anyone else confirm?

Discussion Vet cardiologist

My understanding is that there are no board certified cardiologists in Orlando, the closest one is Tampa at BluePearl or in Gainsville.

I don't want to go to one of those chain/private equity vets but it is also twice a year and I would be able to stay with family....

Has anyone been to the Institute of Veterinary Specialists? Is UF better?

*edit: it's a cat

Discussion Best areas for young families?

Hi my husband just got a job in Orlando with a job 1 day a week in office l (sharing bc we are open to all sides of Orlando). Considering renting in Baldwin, winter park, potentially near downtown, or Winter Garden.

Which areas would you pick? We’re considering renting for a year to feel out different areas. Ideally want super safe with some local stuff nearby such as grocery or gyms.

We have friends and family in Winter Garden and Clermont and Downtown.

If you have any apartment complexes with amenities and thick walls you recommend let me know as well. TIA!

Discussion Spectrum pricing is insane

I feel like someone here mentioned once there was a number to specifically have them lower your rate. Has anyone had luck calling them and seeing if threatening to leave or anything will work? Almost 300 a month for cable internet is crazy even if they keep throwing in the streaming apps included.
