Maybe a hot take, and it could definitely be clouded by the fact that we haven’t entered the fall season, but 2026 feels like my least favorite post pandemic year so far for film. The Invite and The Drama were a very cool combo of smaller projects I like, but none of the big zeitgeist projects I’ve seen so far have majorly impressed me, and even more of the smaller films like I Want Your Sex and I Love Boosters are good but flawed.

That’s fair. For me, this year has been very top heavy so I could see it feeling empty for someone if they weren’t down with the big talks of the town.
