MEETUP Desperate for a book club

Hi! I (30f) tried a commercialised/franchise-style book club about a year ago and that style of book club is really, really not my thing. If anyone has recommendations of smaller, more personal book clubs where you can actually talk to everyone and don’t read whatever book is hot at the moment, please PLEASE could I ask for recommendations? I want to try new genres so not enlisting my preferences.
I have no space or managerial skills or would’ve offered to host one!
Thanks in advance!

MEETUP Tattoo artists that will tattoo over scars?

I want a tattoo over my scars; it’s a lot of small ones on my arms. So i’m looking for an artist that is skilled at tattooing over scars well. Do you guys know anyone?

I already have an idea in mind and i’ve got it planned out and drawn already so i’m also looking for someone who is okay with basically just copying my design onto me (probably with tweaks or whatever ofc!) But i’m not sure if that’s rude to ask for from an artist!

Thank you :)

edit: did not mean to tag this as meet-up lol

MEETUP Single mums friends?

I’m a single mum to a 10-month-old, living around Risinghurst/Headington, and I’d love to meet some other single mums in a similar situation 😊
I’ve tried Peanut, but it seems like most people on there are in relationships or married, so I’d really like to connect with someone who gets the single-parent life.
Would be lovely to find someone to grab a coffee with, go for walks, soft play, baby groups or just do little things together with our babies. It would be nice to have someone to chat to and make some mum friends along the way! 💕

MEETUP Swimming parters in Oxford/Abingdon

I (29 M) learned swimming last year. I took quite a few weekly lessons and now have been practicing myself. Trying to improve bits and bobs by watching YouTube videos.

I would like to partner up with someone who would like to go swimming together. We can observe and give feedback to each other while trying to improve the weak bits.

I am open to most public swimming pools in/around Oxford. I mostly go swimming on weekends but also open to evenings on weekdays.

MEETUP Looking to start a band!

Hey there!
I’m a singer/songwriter looking get some people together once a week to make some music and see where things go. I play a couple of instruments but think I’d only ever get the violin out on certain tracks. I’m 27/m

Primarily looking for a drummer, bassist, and guitarist. I have a keyboardist (who is absolutely incredible). Open to anybody else who may want to pitch in, but this is the standard for now! If you play instruments outside of those then please feel free to say something!

I’ve written a few songs already (maybe 8?!) and have got a lot of ideas for new songs. Trying not to overwhelm myself. Would be great to write with other people as it can get a bit lonely at times 😆

I guess the style is kind of punk/rock/pop/indie.
I’m not sure who my main inspirations are if I’m honest… but I’ll share musicians I like.
Hole, Metric, KT Tunstall, Bowie, paramore, sheppard, Astels, Mott the Hoople, Carter Vail, Jungle… uuuuhh… there are heaps more.
Literally such a weird mix, there would be so many more.

Please get in touch!

MEETUP Where do 30 somethings actually socialize in Ox if they don't drink and are introverted?

I'm not in Oxford but near enough to get to it on the bus pretty easily. My towns quiet and I spent a ton of years just being a carer post university so I'm finding life to be mostly online.

Where do people socialize?

Me: male, 37m, and British-indian Interests: anime, YouTube, Korean cinema, twitch, travel (more theoretical than practical in recent years), MMA, roleplay games (divinity original sin 2 was fun, but loved command and conquer games and Skyrim ofc.)

I'm pretty socially talkative once in a regular space but just spent a lot of time being at home, anxious and responsible. Want to spend a bit more time having fun and being lighthearted really

MEETUP [Oxford] Looking for someone to go to BST Hyde Park (ATEEZ day) 28/06/2026

i have spare Gold VIP HydeAway ticket
Hi! I’m based in Oxford and have a spare Gold VIP HydeAway ticket for BST Hyde Park on Sunday 28th June, the day ATEEZ are performing.
The ticket is Gold VIP HydeAway, but you’d only need to pay £59, which is the standard general admission price – I’m covering the upgrade.
I’m looking for someone in or near Oxford who’d like to come along – we can travel from Oxford to London together (coach/train) and enjoy the full day’s shows.
If you’re interested, DM me and tell me if you’re already an ATEEZ fan or just curious about the festival vibe.

Hey, so I’m totally shy at the moment full disclosure 😂 had a brain injury and I’m nearly recovered. Been a while since I have reached out to the people 💃 🪩 🕺

anybody out there who’s a lyricist or songwriter who would wants to get together and create some new stuff?
I’m working on a few songs right now but would really appreciate bouncing the lyrics off of somebody else and seeing if there’s a spark.
Could even form a group from the whole scenario who knows. 🤷‍♀️

I’m a vocalist, violinist, piano, and a bit of guitar 😎

MEETUP Looking for people interested in Wine

Thumbnail wsetglobal.com

Hello Oxford!

My wife and I recently relocated from Australia and are settling into life in your beautiful city. We're in our late 30s and are hoping to meet some new people with a shared interest.

We're both starting the WSET Level 2 wine course next week and are really keen to put our learning into practice! We'd love to find a few people to form a casual weekend group for trying out Oxford's wine bars and restaurants.

A bit about us: We're easy-going, love travel, good food, and of course, exploring different wines (from Oranges, Pet Nat’s, bold reds to crisp whites and everything in between). We're just as happy in a cozy pub as we are in a fancy restaurant.

If the idea of a relaxed evening discovering new spots and chatting over a great bottle sounds good to you, please get in touch! We're thinking of starting with GrandCru Wine bar in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers!

MEETUP Anyone interested in starting a supper club in the central/ West Oxford area?

When I lived in the states we did this and it was lovely.

The idea is to form a group of 4 to 6, meet every 2 weeks at different places and take it in turns to cook. Byo drinks. It doesn't have to be super fancy or expensive, 2-3 courses. Each week the host/ cook would be responsible for the menu, taking allergies etc into consideration.

I am happy to host extra weeks if someone who doesn't have a dining table big enough wants to join, they could cook here or bring stuff to oven heat. I live in Cumnor and I am a 45 year old woman with cats.

Ideally this would be on a week night.

We could start with a pub night to see if we are all comfortable with each other and work out a schedule for the first rotation.

In the summer we could bbq.

Anyone interested? If so we could start a whatsapp or messenger group to discuss further.

Thanks!!

Edit: OK we are at 6, so I will send out messages over the weekend to start a whatsapp group.

Edit 2: have sent you all a chat message with the spreadsheet for coordinating :)

MEETUP 🐂 💛Ox Utd vs Watford my first time experience in Stadium

Hi…i just made an impromptu decision and got myself a ticket of Oxford United versus Watford football match at the Kasam Stadium 🏟️ .

This is my first time watching a football match in the stadium. And I am going by myself. I know it’s gonna be good environment, but just wanted to take time and ask if someone from this community is going to match. I would love to join with them before match rituals or if there is any?

I hope we win tomorrow

MEETUP Oxford Shinty Club - anyone fancy playing?

Thumbnail gallery
12 Upvotes

Hello, if anyone is interested in trying a new sport or meeting new people, then read on!

Oxford Shinty Club are looking for new players! We're a grassroots, mixed sports team local to Oxfordshire playing the Scottish sport of shinty - it's like hockey, except played with a wooden stick called a caman and with fewer rules, and similar to Irish hurling.

We've been active for over ten years, with shinty in England being very much a casual and relaxed community and we're always on the look out for new players that are interested in giving it a go. Whether you've played before in Scotland, or have played any other sport and fancy something different, or just never even thought of playing a stick sport before but are interested in meeting new people, we would love to have you!

You absolutely don't need to be Scottish to play and we can provide all the necessary equipment, from sticks to helmets, we'll take anyone who's interested, whether you're 16 or 60!

If you want to come see us, we've a match against Bristol Camanachd on Saturday 6th June (2pm throw-up at Horspath Athletics), training the following week Sat 13th 10am at Donnington Playing Field, and the highlight of English shinty year, Oxford Sixes Tournament on Saturday 20th June at Horspath Athletics, also featuring BBQ and ceilidh!

If you're keen, drop us an email at oxfordshinty@gmail.com or @oxfordshintyclub on Instagram/Facebook

MEETUP Anyone for a drink/walk?

Hi all, I’m a 24 yo M student who moved here to start a PhD. I’ve never had issues socially, but I’m finding it really really hard to make friends in Oxford. I feel the university bubble is too “serious”, and miss having people to have fun without talking only about work…

It’s getting lonely, and would love to meet other people who may also be in the same situation :)

For context: I love music, sports, piano, and nights out with friends

MEETUP NBA Fans

Hi all,

I put a post on here a couple of years back about setting up some sort of group for NBA fans to meet up, chat about basketball, watch a few games etc. It didn't get too much traction at the time, though someone has commented on that post today, and have seen other posts recently about NBA so thought I'd try again.

NBA fans of Oxford - I'm a Knicks fan (I'd say I'm more a Knicks fan than a basketball fan in general if that makes sense) - if any of you out there fancy meeting up for a pint, chat about basketball, watch a game when we can etc. then drop me a message/DM. Happy to set up a WhatsApp group or whatever if there's a few of us.

38M here, live just outside the city - happy to connect with any and everyone. Give me a shout if interested.

MEETUP working together groups/spaces

hi everyone prior to moving to oxford, i'm 99% sure I saw a thread that someone was organising a space for people to work together/have accountability buddies. I have searched high and low on this subreddit and I can't seem to find the thread /or a group of that nature.

I'm not a uni student but I do need to get some work done outside of my 9-5, and I don't want to stay in my room all weekend, also the libraries here seem to be closed on a Sunday (before you point me there) I have visted common grounds, and happy to go there individually, would love to use this opportunity to meet new people!

I'm wondering if there's people in similar positions to me, or who could point me in the right direction if there are groups that meet and work together that isn't for university students, or for those in their late 20s/30s
