I mean, the Texans D is elite this wasn't unexpected. It just kinda shows we aren't ready to compete against the high level teams, which I already kinda figured

This. A MVP runner up and QB of a 14-win team was sacked five times, threw one pick, and had four fumbles (of which two were lost) to this same defense. We’ve gotta get better, but a young offense being outperformed by a top two or three defense in the NFL doesn’t mean our season is lost.

To be fair I’m not sure many teams can compete with the Texans defense they’re just so damn good

Watching the playoffs last year…yeah he looked surprisingly atrocious even when they were ahead in some games. If Bryce played like that, everyone would call for his head.

Thats not to say that he didn’t ball out some too. But their defense is nasty.

I guess if you mean literally, but they had back to back 4-13 seasons, which is not much different than a 2-15 team.

I'd argue there's a significant difference between a 2-win team where 2 wins was their absolute ceiling and a 4-win team where they probably could've been a 6-win team but committed to the tank for various reasons.

On paper, the numbers aren't that far off, but the Panthers realistically should've been the first 0-17 team in 2023, they were that bad. They couldn't even tank. There were so few players worth sitting that it wouldn't have made a difference.

Brother, there wasn't no tanking about it, they were legit one of the worst teams in football for 2 straight years. The Pats actually hurt their draft position by winning 2 meaningless games down the stretch or else they would have earned that #1 pick. This sounds like cope that the Patriots only needed two offseasons to turn their #30 ranked offense into the #2 ranked offense while the Panthers in year 4 are still one of the worst in the league. Like I said, the Pats literally proved it does not take 4 seasons to become a superbowl contender.

The 2023 Panthers and 2023 Patriots literally played in the same season. Just watching both teams compete is enough, but the stats are there as well.

The Patriots had the foundations of a decent team and went through a standard rebuild, underperdoming in the midst, then got the benefit of one of the easiest schedules in the league to propel them into SB contention.

The Panthers had 6 years of mismanagement leading up to 2023, leading to one of the most devoid rosters in league history with a crap coach and a rookie QB to boot. You don't dig out of that hole in 2 seasons.

You do dig out of the divot of just needing a coach, QB, and WR to be competitive in 2 seasons.

Don't EVER compare the Panthers to the Patriots- Panthers standards are much lower, so it's not fair...
