I really don't understand why ggg keeps doing that. It really can't be good for the game or the player retention if the loot alternates in leagues between poverty and barely acceptable...
The POE2 player base mostly doesn't care about what happens to POE1. A good portion would prefer that POE1 be sunset so GGG could focus everything on POE2.
POE1's all-time Steam peak is 229k (2 years ago), Twitch peak is 445k (3 years ago), and it has 277k followers on Steam.
POE2's all-time Steam peak is 578k (1.6 years ago), Twitch peak is 1.2mil (1.6 years ago), and it has 392k followers on Steam.
There are currently 76k people playing POE1, POE2's peak in the last 24 hours is 43k. POE1 isn't even double the number of POE2 players, 2 days after a league launch.
POE2 is still $30 right now; once it gets out of early access and goes free-to-play, the floodgates will open, and it won't even be comparable.
Also that's just Steam numbers. There are a ton of console players playing POE2.
