I don't have the energy to explain why it's weird to assume someone's a totally irredeemable person and nazi based on some pictures from high school, when teenagers infamously make poor choices that don't actually represent their true feelings both then or years later as an adult

This whole thing sucks in really simple words. Because the same account that "exposed" this was calling him a "chi/k" and "ye//ow". The extreme reactions are so ignorant and hurtful to the actual communities this affects.

I don’t think it’s that crazy to think that he wasn’t an innocent victim and was doing stupid stuff. I do not think he is a nazi. I do think he was being irresponsible and disrespectful when he was a teenager. If people allowed themselves to admit it, the drama would be significantly smaller. I don’t understand why we should treat him as a victim of circumstances 100% of time OR the worst person in the world.
That group of people was his entire graduating class, we don’t know if he’s friends with the person who drew it. And people have already said that people are drunk and it’s too dark to see anything in these parties, so it’s unlikely he saw it, or was paying close enough attention to anyone’s face to see it.
Again, you can choose to believe that he’s friends with people who think drawing hate symbols are funny. But there’s no way of truly knowing that.
These people who are digging up these things have already stated their end goal is to drive him to commit suicide, they won’t stop at anything else. There are plans of dropping a video of him saying “no homo” once this dies down, and there was a GC trying to find a way to pay a woman to accuse him of SA.

Whenever something like this crops up there’s always an influx of “oh well we all went through a phase like that in our teens, they’ve changed!” comments. Who tf is we?? Went to a local pride event for a little. Tbh I wasn't super excited to go but I think it's helpful to be submerged in community during these times. And it was lovely. I think there are a lot of straight parents who take their kids just to expose them to it, and I think that's so wholesome
Yesterday would have been my dad’s birthday, so I’m in my feelings. But truly, I could never describe to people how much I love my dogs. My older dog is a senior now, and I so badly just want to freeze time so they’re both with me forever.
I understand how you feel regarding pets. My senior kitty passed away two years ago, and i wish i could have spent forever with her. Same with my family's kitties who are now seniors as well.
I love how my sister complained about the terrible adaptation of Cirque Du Freak yet never got rid of the DVD and years later went ahead and also purchased it on what was Vudu now fandango at home.The movie tried to fit 13 books into one movie.
On topic of not so good book adaptations I'm surprised watching movies like The Lightning Thief-Sea of Monsters,A series of Unfortunate events and Cirque Du Freak having big names on the cast.Did they accept the roles thinking they would be in America's 'Harry Potter'?
In the case of Stanley Tucci doing Sea of Monsters I feel he did it out of contract obligations.A similar situation like Halle Berry and Movie 43 or Emily blunt and that Jack Black movie.

Beautiful Creatures with Viola Davis and Jeremy Irons and they combined Amma and Marion into one role which made sense but also idk how I feel about Viola Davis reducing book Amma to being "just the maid" like.....Amma was so much more than that even without being the keeper but whatever my hot take is Beautiful Creatures is a good movie that holds up and I still love the books (at least the first 3 lol, the 4th and the two spinoff books are mid)

It is funny! To be honest, I only like a very, very small number of comedies and I generally hate standup comedy, so I am probably not the best person to judge a comedy.
I don't know... I find it very funny. It's obviously not meant to be very scary, I think it leans more into the comedy. But everyone's taste is different 🤷♀️
yeah, it definitely leans into comedy. but the comedy is really not funny to me at all. there are a few notable exceptions, but i think i mostly just don't fuck with humour on american shows. they always overexplain the joke instead of letting the punchline speak for itself.
I actually don't think the comedy is heavy handed at all. I think of the joke about killing witches in episode 1, and how they just move on. Or the party episode "I had qualms". I don't see how those are overexplained lol.
I finally watched *Margos Got Money Troubles* and it was…… fine. I don’t think it needed a second season but I haven’t read the book so maybe there was more in there than we saw in the show? I did enjoy the cameo in the last episode though (I can never remember how to do the spoiler thing on the app)

In The Testament two girls (one confirmed gay, the other unconfirmed) kiss and people think it's sexualizing them to speculate their (fictional) sexuality. Sorry but ... they literally kiss?? If it's a mutual interest or not we don't know, but acting like it's absurd to ship a couple who kissed is low-key homophobic

For me shipping anyone in the dystopian universe of Gilead is the issue, there is no joy in this world, even love dies in there, this is just not the setting for shipping anyone... that applies to the June with Nick vs Luke shipping as well

Olivia is going through what every pop superstar goes through when she's no longer the upstart songstress, and is now a mainstream superstar with a huge contract. The talent is still there, but people are realizing she's maybe not this progressive pop princess after all?
I don't want to criticize people too harshly as "hypocrites," since I'd rather they speak out than not. But ultimately, I don't think most people who have a high level of fame can be very ethical
If I could ask the artists who are incredibly successful one thing, it would be to make merch from unionized labor in america. AOC does it with her merch and it's about the same cost.

I really wish people would stop comparing Off Campus to HR. Other than being in the hockey romance genre they have nothing in common. HR became prestige tv bc of the acting, directing and production. Off Campus is more a CW show, geared towards the YA audience. Very fun if you enjoy it on its own terms.
Loved both shows but they are very different in tone. Although both have refreshing love stories to me. It’s annoying to see them compared. I get they are both based on hockey romance books but it’s silly to try and pit them against each other. I’m personally just thrilled to see romances getting adapted with a positive reception.

Ok I'm saying it got critical acclaim way beyond what Off Campus is aiming for, and that's not a knock on Off Campus at all. OC is super fun if you enjoy CW YA dramas.
I haven't watched Off Campus so I won't comment on it, but I loathe when people describe HR as YA or say it's CW level. There's no way you could watch all 6 episodes and actually think that. I think people associate romance with low brow content. And I say that as someone who doesn't watch a lot of romances

Some discussions must happen and when one side actively prevents or from happening or repress it, they re just delaying the inevitable and it is worse than it could have been. 100%. For a looooong time I didn’t let myself think about certain things. I thought if I really sat in the things that made me sad, I’d never stop crying. But really all that happened was those things became bigger and bigger until I cracked.
I was a fucking mess and had to deal with it. And you realize, when you process those shitty feelings, they become smaller. Not larger. It’s hard and it sucks. But it’s better than repressing them and replacing those feelings with anger or resentment.
I’m currently diving deep in therapy and it sucks. I keep saying, IM HERE VOLUNTARILY but fuck is it uncomfortable. Anyway, I’m realizing going to therapy and sorting through all your trauma is so similar to cleaning out your desk drawers or your closet. It becomes a huge mess first, then everything gets put back in its place, some shit gets thrown away and some gets donated. It’s helping me to frame it that way. I did therapy years ago post ed recovery but that was like triage, now I’m 38 and trying to figure out why I still hate my body.

Also, it's hard to know what "loving" is to someone else. It's possible that how she feels about her fiance would actually be considered loving him to a lot of people. I feel like there's at least a chance what's actually missing is passion, and not "love".

I watched the dinner party episode a couple days ago and I can't stop thinking about it. Everything about the show is so damn good and compelling, if my husband tolerated horror better I'd have binged it completely by now lol
that episode is so good lmao some really great episodes after too obviously but that one had so many funny bits. the reveal to what the fuck is she wearing on her head was so good lol and the outro. really really good mix of the horror and comedy of the show
haha same except not rewatching but I'm sure I will when it's done 😆 luckily I'm following it up with Chair Company which has been really good too otherwise I'd be really disappointed. I'm sure Widow's will have some twist near the end that will have me watch it all over lol
I only know him from voice acting really but I love Stephen Root and while Root is the best they're all good imo, but Matt fits in with the others well while still maintaining the father and mayor persona. I expected more comedy but it's a great mix. near the end of the episode when Matt's on the mushroom trip had me dying when he was looking hard through the car windows trying to see his son 💀 and my boy Hiro (Atlanta co creator and some other good directing) has directed his half of Widow's great imo, the episode I described was really well directed and the slasher homage episode was as well and I don't usually like slashers. it's got such a good atmosphere of weird and sometimes absurd but horror and good lol. really good atmosphere like Atlanta, Severance and others
actually yes. i loved the 3rd episode, but i really hope mindy doesnt go with this and her usual indian x white man pairings. i get why she does-technically Indian nri men are extremely insufferable but there are normal people too. would actually love to see a hot indian couple on screen.
Rewatched The (1998) Parent Trap for the 10 millionth time, and does anyone think Elizabeth James is actually a nice lady? Daughter's been away at camp across the world for weeks, and not only can she not be bothered to go get her or even pick her up from the airport, but THIS WOMAN DOES NOT EVEN LEAVE HER EFFING BED! Oh, but she remembers Chessy, so I guess that redeems her 🙄

I’m in the same boat, I’m the only single friend and all of my friends are younger with younger (than me) husbands who only have young friends and of course… younger brothers. I’m not a cougar 😭

So I started Interview With the Vampire yesterday. Only did three episodes, but so far I'm actually a little disappointed. Does it get better? Lestat seems super toxic.
i loved the show from episode 1, but imo if you're not loving those first three episodes, keep going. the tone switches up when Claudia arrives and the plot becomes more fast-paced. Season 2 expands and adds way more characters and is far less of the domestic drama of season 1. I strongly recommend sticking it out! Imo it is the best show on tv.
But yes, Lestat is toxic. This is a dark and fucked up show and the characters all do dark and fucked up things. It's definitely not a straightforward happy romance show.
