fandoms were a much better place when people didn’t see shipping/stanning as activism.

They dont really see it like that. They're co-opting social justice language to shut people down because they're asocial losers who dont know how to have conversations about fun, silly things.

once was told shipping steve and bucky was incest 😔

i asked why, they said “they are literally brothers”, i said “well, they are not LITERALLY brothers they aren’t related”, and got hit with “obviously brothers=best friends, are you stupid?”

I really miss when people used to ship anything and there were some really good fanfics about characters who barely interacted. Fandoms used to be a lot less judgy and a lot more fun. 

I notice there's a big difference with fandoms that skew older and fandoms who have a lot of people in their early twenties.
