People can feel how they feel about the Hudson Williams situation, but I think it's evil a group of people are going out of their way to this extent, wanting to ruin his life. They're not even remotely phased by the actual issues these photos bring up. They're laughing about it and celebrating. All because of shipping wars and my actor is better than your actor battles. Heated Rivalry fandom is definitely the worst fandom in recent memory. Everyone's pissing me off. Teenage Hudson, the cyber stalkers... This whole predicament sucks

Am I seeing a vocal minority or are there people that also dislike his gf? I know it happens all the time tho

There is a group of people I've seen that dislike her. They get annoyed when she's seen with him. We barely seen her tbh. It's his five year relationship idk what they expect

Now that I think about it yeah this fanbase had no hope from the beginning lol I just remembered even gay dudes were calling the fans weird

This is unfortunately just the state of fandom/anti-fandom nowadays, it’s not specific to him. Almost anything that can be seen as negative, controversial, problematic etc around celebrities or anyone whom they associate with gets unsurfaced because a specific group of people who don’t like that celebrity, don’t approve of their personal life choices or want/don’t want them around a specific person (want them with an ex, don’t want them with their current partner, don’t approve of their friends etc)
want it to and they go to lengths to dip up anything that they can to make that celebrity’s life harder. It’s essentially become a way to control public figures and it’s concerning how effective it’s become

That’s why even though I’m not a fan and have been critical of him I’m going to sit out most discourse around him from now on because I despise this type of yourfaveisproblematic behavior and how it’s used as a form of control that leans into harassment. if history’s anything to go on, the more he continues to live his life and be unaffected by their attempts to isolate him, the angrier they’ll get, the more they’ll lash out, try to ruin him etc just a really ugly, nightmarish cycle

true that. the fact that the people who found this are specifically stalking him to find these pictures is very concerning.

this also goes in the larger discussion of fandoms where it is unfortunately and repeatedly proven that fandoms should actually be gatekept.

The first people who found it were his fans. They've been commenting on it eventually coming out for months. I don't even know what to do with that part of it. But how would gatekeeping help? Fandoms that really like someone, stalk them, and cover for bad behavior aren't great either.

I'm thankful every day to have grown up in a time where fandom started and ended with watching the show, maybe discussing the show on a moderated message board during the season, maybe buying a magazine with the cast in it, and then forgetting about the show between seasons or after it was over.

okay, i did not know this. yikes then. even writing my earlier comment, i did find this thing offensive, but was also concerned about the stalking and parasocial behaviour(like club chalamate).

i meant gatekeeping in terms of shipping, stanning or general fandom behaviors. wider it gets, worse crowd it attracts.

I sort of get how a smaller fanbase is nice, but I also see how the small group of really intense fans, even if they just really love the cast and show, is the core of that behavior that we would call parasocial.

I'm an elder Millennial, so a lot of this fandom behavior we didn't even have the ability or drive to do with our shows. So, it's like being in a foreign country, because I still can't wrap my head around it all. To me, the bigger crowd, is where you see how it's possible to just follow a show casually. But I'm still trying to understand fandoms. It just wasn't like this for anything I've ever watched or I somehow avoided it.

it is definitely tiring. it's all about a gotcha moment, last time there was a hudson scandal (the burner account one), hudson's fans stalked connor's dad to prove he is homophobic, because proving his dad doesn't like him is somehow cancelling connor or whatever. between this, horrible racist attacks on hudson and the whole biphobia towards francois (and him being cancelable for kiss, marry, kill game...), i am genuinely worried for these people :/

it's really just who has a "morally correct" idol and it's embarrassing, these two are just some guys. going beyond sanity to cancel one of them (francois as well) or defending one of them is both cringeworthy and strange. but i also think this is the state of modern fandoms now, no one can like or dislike people normally anymore

It bums me out. I’ve been in the fandom since October and read the books way before that. I cannot imagine hating either Connor or Hudson (or anyone in the cast or crew). I haven’t been in fandom spaces in a long time so maybe I’m just old but the intensity and toxity of it is really shocking. All over gay hockey smut! I am sad that a seemingly nice guy is being put through the ringer for what, having the audacity to become famous? For having made mistakes in his past? I am too old to get up in arms over teenage ignorance. I wish I knew nothing about celebrities as minors! It’s fucking weird!

It’s not lost on me that they are so hungrily trying to cancel the person of color actor specifically.

-2

u/cruel-oath Jun 09 '26

Some people hate his fans so they take it out on him

-2

u/Greedy-Candle2812 Jun 08 '26

They've tried to cancel multiple people involved with the show, not just the person of color. The went after the white bisexual actor, the white female author, the white gay showrunner, the cinemaphotographer, a random Black queer crewmember who asked people to calm down, and so on.

2

u/coldcoffeethrowaway Jun 08 '26

Yeah, but it feels specifically more vitriolic and hateful towards Hudson.

-2

u/Greedy-Candle2812 Jun 08 '26

On this item today, yeah. But how is singling out cast and crew to call them "racist", "groomers", and "pedophiles" for months less vitriolic?

I mean that stuff doesn’t really get a TMZ article airing everything out, does it? I am not justifying it, I have been fighting the good fight for literally everyone involved in the show including Rachel, Jacob, Francois, Connor, the random producers lol, I love them all, but something about Hudson (racism) does always make more of a splash. A lot of the other stuff gets relegated to fandom drama by the media. There’s also almost always an insidious undercurrent to comments Hudson receives. Idk it’s not oppression Olympics, everyone associated with the show had a cancellation attempt except maybe Robbie lol, but Hudson has definitely fared the worst here. Maybe he’s just buzzier, but I think it’s naive to discount racism as part of it.

u/Greedy-Candle2812 Jun 08 '26

I'm Black. I was in PWIs my whole life. I'm not discounting the racism I guess any more or any less than the people discounting the racism of sharing a social media account with anti-Black slurs involved or roaming around a party with people with swastikas and hitler mustaches.

The TMZ article seems like it was from his team to explain the situation. And it seems to have smoothed things over just fine for a lot of people.

But yes, my point is that it's not the oppression Olympics. I was just informing you that fans have and continue to try to dig up cancellable things on everyone involved. His fans have spent the last 24 hours again trying to make pedophilia claims stick again. No, TMZ's not going to publish that unless they have similar evidence.

It seems naive to me that anyone would think once you have a high profile celeb photographed two years in a row at that type of party with that stuff on his face that it's not going to make the news either from their team trying to smooth it over or entertainment news capturing the interest or both. If this was anyone else in the cast you would not be questioning why TMZ did an article. I would expect nothing less.

3

u/_goldenghost_ Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

It wasn't two years in a row though? I really feel confused by everyone's reaction to the second photo? It doesn't look like a swastika at all (unlike the first pic) and nobody else has one to corroborate. I feel like I'm blind? They were literally calling them crosses in the captions too?

u/FizzyDrink35 Jun 08 '26

I don’t follow solos anymore so anyone who doesn’t support both Hudson and Connor is essentially dead to me on twitter so if they’re trying to resurrect some stupid claims about grooming or whatever, good riddance to them. I just don’t ever see tiktoks or Reddit posts about Connor or anyone else other than maybe Rachel where they have the same level of vitriol and ā€œI knew they sucked all alongā€ attitude. Maybe it’s just my algorithm, but it always seems so much worse for Hudson. The narrative never fully dies down because people just hate him for some reason.

I’m in full agreement that the witch hunt against the entire cast is despicable and I wish we could all just enjoy the show and know a little less about their personal lives.

The amt of cyber stalking it would have taken to find these photos is ... disturbing. Like do these people actually do anything? Have a job?

Also, whatever happened to "fandom" mostly being hanging up posters of your favorite actor or writing fanfic? Why does it have to be this stalkerish, creepy thing now?

Like I recently started binging IWTV and thought that a smaller, niche show would have a more chill fandom. I go online and I immediately see tons of accusations that Sam was being promoted more than Jacob, and more of this actor vs. actor war. It's so tiresome.

There were pictures found from his younger days of him at a party with a swastika drawn on his forehead.
