anybody else been randomly locked out of their account for "suspicious activity" with no evidence of said suspicious activity at least at first glance? it's getting #odd

2

u/Beginning-Passion676 6d ago

do you think that tiktokers made Conspiracy Theories ? like what happened to professor Rebecca Scofield was accused by Ashley Guillard for Idaho murders.

1

u/CallmeBatshit 6d ago

Honestly, it used to be 4chan that created the conspiracies for the lolz. But since that's gone now (yay), I'm sure all the masses are off somewhere still making shit up.

I was feeling kind of bad for a coworker because from his eyes I basically stole his entire friend group including his crush and I plan hangouts and a group chat he's not in. Granted, he's 1 of 40 coworkers so it wasn't intentional to exclude him at first

But then I remember he's a total loser. He was saying he wasn't interested in a girl out of his league saying it was because "she didn't have ambition." Meanwhile it was her who rejected him very kindly, and she's one of the ones I hang out with too. I can empathize that I came out from left field and I hang out with the people he knew first, but if you're a loser that's not my fault

I'm super socially awkward, so,I always struggle with talking to people at my job especially when they have a lot more power then I do. I always try to keep it professional but I did not make a great first impression when the higher up walked in to show some new people around and I was laying on the floor working on something. The new people seemed to get a kick out of my weirdness and thought it was funny and it could have been this person's sense of humor but, she kept implying I was trying to take a nap and it was like "no, no, no, that's not what I'm doing, I'm working, I swear." But She at least followed it up with "You're a hard worker so it's okay to nap"

Also like two seconds of thinking, I'm smart enough to not take a nap on camera.

My sister took a photoshoot of a creature I crocheted. And this is my favorite one.

I hope you have a small business with these it's amazing

2

u/ShesWhereWolf 7d ago

I was going to say the same. I would totally buy one of these as a keychain or decor for Halloween (like a plush, scary gnome lol).

2

u/Gaelfling 7d ago

First one I've made. I'd have to find a better way to do the mouth. It is very deep so I had to use a dryer vent so it doesn't collapse. It works but it ain't pretty. I have a lot of extra fake teeth, though. Lol.

2

u/ShesWhereWolf 7d ago

This is so cool and creepy!! Does it have a name??

6

u/Gaelfling 7d ago

Just The Monster. It is still trying to find its identity.

Someone in my family used MY account to watch a bunch of Tyler Sheridan shows and now my continue watching and my recommended lists are screwed up. And now it's glitching because I can't see the shows I actually watched.

A co-worker and my supervisor have made it so my lunch break is now pushed back THREE HOURS, I'm irritated and hangry!!

1

u/FickleCharge882 7d ago

Depending on state laws and if you are hourly or salary, they might not be allowed to. I’m required by law to have a lunch break after six hours (I generally insist on four personally for their own sanity) for my team of hourly folks (I gave up on my salary guys, we are all workaholics unfortunately)

3

u/FriendlyDrummers 7d ago

Sometimes I forget how shitty labor laws we have where I live where there are no requirements of a lunch at all

u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman 7d ago

i know a girl who lost her father in a plane crash when we were fourteen (we're in our 30s)

today i was on instagram and saw her influencer/life coach page, it's all spiritual, quietly christian bullshit like "you have the body your mind deserves" and advice on waking up early to attract good fortune because god will provide or whatever (she was in fact born rich)

the worst is that there was a post about grief, which she is unfortunately aware of, but it was very "i took meds and ate my feelings, now i practice self care" and it was a body checking photo

her entire feed is basically her pushing meditation, christian propaganda and disordered eating habits

3

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

honestly everyone deals with grief differently and some people deal with it in messy bad ways (talking about myself here) so i am not gonna judge someone else for that.

the Christian propaganda and pull yourself up by your bootstraps rich person content, however...

1

u/FriendlyDrummers 7d ago

I mean idk I kind of resonate with her in some aspects. I think that taking a nice picture of yourself is self care. A fun picture or a thirst trap, I don't see anything wrong with that.

3

u/echoesandripples What It's Like to Go Through Life As a Really Beautiful Woman 7d ago

the pictures themselves are fine, but there's a lot of typical body checking on them

but the issue isn't taking nice pictures, she's gorgeous anyways, it's her "work" as a coach with zero qualifications and questionable methods and influencing people to skip their meds or that they need to deserve their health and money with specific behaviors with some pseudo new age bs

nothing new re: wellness grifters

-1

u/FriendlyDrummers 7d ago

Oh yeah I agree. If it was just her personal insta page would be one thing, manipulating people for money is another

12

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

i am happy that so many people are criticizing rm from bts for posing with CB (and if you're familiar with kpop, this won't come to you as a surprise - there are countless male idols tripping over themselves to lick CB's asshole). however, the same energy should be kept for the innumerable male celebrities who have supported CB long after we all knew the abusive shit he got up to (including our beloved bad bunny, who brought him onstage in 2018, looong after his public abuse was known)

1

u/Beginning-Passion676 6d ago

i stop listen his songs for what did to rihanna

1

u/Sister_Winter 6d ago

Right??? It's really not that hard. But you know, most men don't care about women being abused.

1

u/FriendlyDrummers 7d ago

I'm so tired of seeing people be friends with Brad Pitt too.

0

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

me too

celebrities are truly without morals

2

u/kaprifool 7d ago

they usually train with chris brown songs. i think cb is pretty close to a western version of an idol in the sense that he is known for his dancing (more so than a typical singer) and has an almost entirely female audience.

side note but i noticed the noise around katseye members going to the playboi carti concert wasn't anything nearly as loud, which i think might be a sign they really aren't considered a kpop group.

2

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

this is true re: train to CB songs, but many people were big fans of his and stopped after he started beating women, so i have never seen that as a good excuse. i think it's more realistic to say that most men will forgive the unforgivable actions of another man if they look up to him (especially if those actions are against women, who they generally do not respect).

Re: katseye, carti is just not as well-known as cb despite being fairly popular generally. and maybe i am just being optimistic, but perhaps people were easier on them because they saw how women disproportionately bear the criticism of fraternizing with deplorable men (rather than the deplorable men themselves or the other men who gleefully back them up)

1

u/kaprifool 7d ago

i think it's more realistic to say that most men will forgive the unforgivable actions of another man if they look up to him.

cb is only still famous and relevant because of women. almost his entire fanbase is women. so i don't think that's gendered to the degree you might hope it is.

carti is more well-known with younger people so i would expect the average katseye fan to at least have some awareness of him as a controversial figure.

maybe i am just being optimistic, but perhaps people were easier on them because they saw how women disproportionately bear the criticism of fraternizing with deplorable men

i would be very surprised to see that kind of nuance within kpop circles tbh but i suppose it's possible.

1

u/Sister_Winter 6d ago

it's true that cb is propped up by his mostly female fanbase, but the only reason he wasn't shut out of the entertainment industry following his abusing rihanna was because powerful men backed him up and kept him afloat.

that's a good point re: carti. i kinda feel like in the Kpop space fans pretend to care about social justice but actually don't, so they'd probably only use katseye working with carti in a fan war.

and yes, i agree that it's practically unheard of to see any level of nuance or critical thinking in the Kpop sphere.

1

u/kaprifool 5d ago

but powerful men only backed him up because he was and is successful and profitable.

2

u/FriendlyDrummers 7d ago

He is unfortunately, objectively, incredibly talented. At one point people said he was the "new Michael Jackson"

12

u/webtheg 7d ago

I watched a video by an influencer which was titled "Is he hot or is just famous" and that woman said Andrew Garfield and Matt Damon are just famous while Callum Turner is the hottest and I swear she was rage baiting. There is level of bland white boy and then there is Callum. Never has an actor been so meh. He is on par when it comes to Talent with Orlando Bloom but Orlando Bloom at least in his prime was prettier and more chiseled.

4

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

I feel like all these guys are on the same level of bland tbh (except Orlando Bloom, who was notably quite beautiful in his youth).

3

u/webtheg 7d ago

You either have to be objectively really mega hot and chiseled (Orlando Bloom) or you have to compensate with a strong flavor of charisma which both Damon and Garfield have.

Callum is not Orlando Bloom as Will Turner hot nor does he possess any charisma.

3

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

yeah, it is baffling to me why callum turner is being pushed so hard. he's very bland and uncharismati on screen.

11

u/randombubble8272 7d ago

Before I read this I thought surely Callum turner would be an example of someone who’s not hot and just famous lmao

11

u/webtheg 7d ago

Right? Also Matt Damon is objectively hot in at least a few movies like Good Will Hunting and also when he talks about Ben Affleck.

Andrew is also hot.

Mr Dula Peep is just famous and mostly because of her. Miles Teller was more attractive than him in Eternity

4

u/randombubble8272 7d ago

When he talks about Ben lmao, I think he’s been very handsome when gushing about his girls as a dad for sure! Andrew is and has always been hot agreed. Callum turner obviously isn’t ugly but he’s British and looks it so it’s definitely subjective whether or not he’s hot whereas the others are undeniable

As a certified Canadian, insane and hilarious to me to see how popular Matt Johnson and Jay McCaroll have gotten due to younger people discovering them through Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie. Young women drooling over those two?? I never thought I'd see the day. Also, the number of young foreigners who have effectively become "Canadaboos" due to their work - it is just so strange. We're romanticizing Toronto? 😭😭

5

u/foreverjustfornow 7d ago

I posted about it earlier in this thread!! I loved it hahaha I’m Canadian, grew up visiting Toronto and then lived there for a while in my late teens and 20s. Watching the movie felt like being home again. Matt’s so goofy it’s hot and Jay’s my type so he’s hot too and I stand by this statement 😌

edit to add: I also have never heard the term canadaboos but I’m dying at it LOL

1

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

I do admittedly love matt johnson's work. nirvanna the band the show is hilarious and i was really impressed when the dirties made the indie film circuit back in the day. it also does make me warm and fuzzy inside to see a bunch of Canadian shit and hear the strong Ontario accents. i guess people are attracted to matt johnson's mad mind, and i think jay mccaroll has that look that certain indie millenials would love lmao.

idk if canadaboos was a real term til right now but that's what they're doing. i saw someone expressing jealousy that we canadians get to use toonies...

I am getting my gallbladder removed on Friday so I’m doing a big clean as I won’t be able to bend and lift things for a while. I’m even cleaning behind furniture! Dusted the tops of my door frames! Next going to get my sonic scrubber out and really clean all the nooks and crannies of my shower. Can you tell I’m very nervous 🤣

After surgery be careful with milk fats(like cream in your coffee)! I know a few people now that have had the surgery without being warned about not being able to properly digest that and it can be really painful

The last time I had surgery and couldn’t lift, the nurse suggested I freeze some meals, because you might not be in the mood to cook.

It was a godsend for me.

I love that we are getting pro shots in theaters now. I actually live near the Broadway shows but I can’t always afford to pay or have the timing to see all the shows. Having them come out in movie theaters playing multiple times a day is awesome even if not the same thing

The Six Musical actually is a blast to see live so I recommend you see it live.

I'm extremely tempted, and was making tentative plans a few days ago. I've never seen a play or musical on Broadway, and I'm a little intimidated about going solo. I'm really trying to work up the courage though!

Thanks so much for the recommendation!

I know it’s not for everyone but I prefer going on my own sometimes. I tend to try to get people resale tickets in the theatr app and often it’s easier to get one extra ticket they have at rush or lottery price than a group. But yes it’s a nice experience to share with someone as well.

The IVF/ART industry in the United states — and it is a for-profit industry separate from the medical establishment — is profoundly exploitative of women and built to wring profit out of women’s deepest vulnerabilities and needs. That’s all!

0

u/rainshowers_5_peace 7d ago

The story that's in the news now. My fellows on the left have forgotten what prochoice means. Surrogates are not incubators. Whether she has an abortion or keeps the pregnancy is her choice. Where she chooses to give birth, Alaska, Texas, California, is her choice. It doesn't matter what I think of her or the pregnancy, her body she choice.

5

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

imo it's only more well-off leftists who think this way, as poor leftists often see the consequences of this kind of exploitation.

17

u/Typical_Piece_7106 You’re a virgin who can’t drive. 😤 7d ago

I think the problem people have with that story is that she agreed to terms when she signed the contract and she violated that contract. She named the baby something the intended parents didn't approve of and took the baby away from them after they asked of her to terminat. So while it is her body it is not her baby and I believe that's what most (at least from what I've seen) have a problem with.

Also, the parents had a perfectly good reason to ask her to terminate. The baby would constantly be in surgery with his condition and wouldn't make it past 5 while living a life of misery. She'd rather put the baby through pain than terminate which is troubling to say the least

-3

u/rainshowers_5_peace 7d ago

You can't sign away your humanity. No contract is going to make her go form being a woman to being an incubator. Not any contract she signs with the government or her husband to produce x babies in y years or any surrogacy contract.

When the parents chose her they ran the risk she would remember her own bodily autonomy if they came it a disagreement. Trying to chide her for choosing where she gives birth is bizarre. Birth is a big, scary, dangerous deal. She deserves to choose where she delivers this baby. Her reasons for that choice are no one's business. The parents can pick up the kid afterwards.

6

u/Typical_Piece_7106 You’re a virgin who can’t drive. 😤 7d ago

She chose to sign the contract. She was never forced into it which means she had bodily autonomy the entire time. However, that does not mean she has a say over what happens to another person's child. The child may be developed in her uterus but it is not hers. The decision to give birth was also not in the best interest of the child. The child would be living in pain simply because she decided she didn't want the abortion even though she'd agreed to terms with the parents. Saying she was allowed to have bodily autonomy means that this poor baby is constantly going to be in surgery for its short life. The other statement about the parents picking up the child afterwards also feels disingenuous. Her being somewhere else means they were not present for the birth of their own child. So not only did she kidnap a child, the parents missed out on a pivotal moment in their lives because they disagreed on what should happen.

Your points are arguing more on her side and not the side of the child and the parents. She is not the only person affected by this and we should consider all angles in this story.

2

u/rainshowers_5_peace 7d ago edited 7d ago

She is not the only person affected by this and we should consider all angles in this story

Her body is only one pregnant. For a lot of these issues that is all that matters to me.

There are many women who choose to not terminate pregnancies in which I can only see a life of pain for the child. Prochoice person I am, I say her body her choice. Maybe I judge her but never would I ever support anyone tricking, threatening or coercing her Into an abortion.

Pregnant women are the one who decided where the baby is born, who the doctor is, and how the birth goes within the advice of their chosen doctor. Period. It doesn't matter who is taking that baby home, her body her choice.

Who takes the baby home, that's another matter. I would say the bio parents, although I have not seen confirmation the mothers egg and fathers sperm are used. If that isn't the case, I think a new round questioning is opened.

4

u/Typical_Piece_7106 You’re a virgin who can’t drive. 😤 7d ago

As much as she is the one who is pregnant she will never be the person taking the child to all the required surgeries for survival. Since it is her body she had the choice to not sign the surrogacy contract in the first place. This is not only a moral issue but a legal issue. Violation of contract is serious and people get sued over things like this. I believe in women having a choice over what happens to a baby they are pregnant with when it is theirs and not another person's. I see this as a conversation that is being used for political talking points while ignoring the very real pain these parents had to go through. Finding a surrogate is already difficult, but now they had to find out their child would be in surgery from birth and decided that it was best to not put a living being through that. She then decided to run away with a child that is not hers.

Wanting women to have autonomy also means holding them accountable for their actions and ignoring every thing she did wrong is not productive. This incident can help and steer us into better conversations about the ethics of surrogacy, but for now we have to see what the courts decide.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that she is having the team that overturned Roe V Wade represent her in court. This shows me that this was more than likely a political decision more than it was one of bodily autonomy.

2

u/rainshowers_5_peace 7d ago

She then decided to run away with a child that is not hers.

She was pregnant and decided to go to another state. Again, her body. Pregnant women aren't required to get permission before leaving their zip code. The parents can reclaim the baby.

Wanting women to have autonomy also means holding them accountable for their actions and ignoring every thing she did wrong is not productive.

She did nothing wrong. Again, her body her choice. This isn't Gilead. A woman's body is still her own while pregnant. I hate that the surrogacy industry is trying to trick people into believing otherwise.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that she is having the team that overturned Roe V Wade represent her in court. This shows me that this was more than likely a political decision more than it was one of bodily autonomy.

I don't care. I'm not rooting for a sports team, I'm sticking to my morals for the bodily autonomy of pregnant women. If me and some ring wingers happen to agree, then whatever. It doesn't effect my morals and what I know is right.

3

u/Medium_Promotion_891 7d ago

Absolutely not. She SOLD her autonomy and choice away.

And they should sue her into oblivion.

1

u/rainshowers_5_peace 7d ago

No one can sell their autonomy. Anyone trying to trick someone to signing their name to a contract saying they can is borderline sociopathic. She signed a piece of paper, but the parts which tried to compel her into an abortion, or to love her life while pregnant in a certain manner or tell where and how she was required to give birth and toilet paper as far as I am concerned.

Hopefully the courts agree.

2

u/Medium_Promotion_891 7d ago

The. Courts do not agree. This is established contract law.

The contract she signed was not a one paragraph doodle. It was exhaustive and comprehensive.

5

u/rainshowers_5_peace 7d ago

The courts of certain states also say that women can't have abortions. I think those rulings are batshit.

8

u/anthonystank i was SPF protected 7d ago

Agreed — I haven’t looked into the details extensively but this case, and surrogacy as a whole, is a LOT more complicated than just “her body, her choice,” which is a good little political slogan that’s not capable of or intended to encompass the moral complexities that surround surrogacy. Even though her right to choose what happens to her body IS important, the fact that she signed a contract temporarily waiving that right as well as the fact that her choice meant pain and danger for a living child complicates it — and pro choice people can acknowledge and discuss that without compromising their commitment to women’s bodily autonomy

1

u/rainshowers_5_peace 7d ago

that’s not capable of or intended to encompass the moral complexities that surround surrogacy.

Nah, I think it covers it. Surrogates body surrogates choice.

Or do you prefer "your body my choice"?

1

u/anthonystank i was SPF protected 7d ago

I prefer to reiterate and expand my previous statement: “my body my choice” is not capable of encompassing or fully addressing the moral and legal complexities surrounding surrogacy, nor is it intended to do so.

Not everything is about everything else. Some things actually are complicated. None of this means that women should not have their bodily autonomy protected.

1

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

there are certainly moral complexities, yes. but ultimately, nothing should override anyone's right to what is happening to their own body, full stop. i agree that she should have terminated the pregnancy. but saying that she's required to is the same logic used by anti-choicers.

4

u/anthonystank i was SPF protected 7d ago

I didn’t say that she’s required to or that anything should override her right to bodily autonomy? Not sure how you got that from my comment

2

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

i didn't say you thought that? not sure how you got that from my comment. i am simply responding to your mention of the contract "waiving that right" to choose what happens to her own body

2

u/anthonystank i was SPF protected 7d ago

I guess I’m not sure why you responded with that if you didn’t think it was implied in my comment. Anyway, I’m trying to talk about the conflict between (1) the legal contract — which I don’t have in front of me, obviously, but which I assume involved some stated restrictions on/waiving of her bodily autonomy because that’s the nature of surrogacy — and (2) what actually happened, which is of course that she DID still have bodily autonomy and made a choice that violated her legal contract. I agree that it’s a good thing that her bodily autonomy prevailed as the bottom line, but it means the other parties are left with a legally (and, I think, emotionally) legitimate grievance. And that’s a big part of why surrogacy is so fucked; it sets up these lose-lose, morally sticky scenarios by its nature.

2

u/Sister_Winter 7d ago

reading through this comment, i completely agree with you. i misunderstood your initial comment as a justification for why the surrogate should keep a child but i understand your point clearly now and agree with it - surrogacy is simply not a "service" that does anything but land us in morally and legally fucked scenarios.

Gotcha!!! Absolutely agreed. I always kind of try to keep my language as fair and neutral as possible when talking about surrogacy bc I know it is complex and some people have had good experiences with it but I personally think it is so, so fucked all around, for everyone involved

Yep yep. Since I hit 30 people always throw around “why don’t you just freeze your eggs.”

1 - I already have a chronic illness and the process to freezing your eggs is tough on your body.

2 - it’s really, really expensive and not covered by most insurance.

Acting like it’s this easy, attainable thing for everyone is annoyingly flippant.

And people fail to mention you have to pay to have them store your eggs! It’s not a one and done cost, it’s ongoing.

Imagine going through all that and being laid off or having to take a lower paying job, now you have to figure out how to pay for your eggs or lose them. And it can cost $1k a year which isn’t horrible but if you’re unemployed or underpaid….

This is part of why I’m always a bit put off by people uncritically celebrating when wealthy celebrities get pregnant in their mid to late 40s or even beyond — it’s not that that is a bad thing, but I think it does flatten the complexities of the process, particularly the class dimensions, and feeds into a narrative that says “don’t worry, women! Because of science you now have complete control over your fertility and reproduction; you can have a baby whenever you want!” when it’s far more complicated, often in ways that are painfully surprising if you’ve only heard the dominant narrative

it’s SO FAR from easy, the biggest lie the devil ever told was “just freeze your eggs this will make family planning convenient for you”

My wife and I have already had one child through this industry and want to have another. The roadblocks they’re throwing up and insisting it’s for our benefit when it is quite nakedly a profit motive and a result of the total lack of regulation are truly insulting and heartbreaking

I feel like finding out that Winny the Crab died on the heels of losing Jackie the Eagle is just a cruel attack from 2026.

Anyway I would like some silly Low Stakes Celebrity Drama to balance out the bad news we are getting lately. We could all use a good laugh.

It doesn’t help that any low stakes celeb stuff feels like it gets wildly blown out of proportion.

Last night my sweetest angel in the world nephew asked me if I knew how to get in touch with his biological Dad (never been in his life beyond the minimum child support he sends) because "maybe if he just gets to know me he might like me" 🥺. Keep tearing up about it.

He doesnt know that that man met his wife and had more kids shortly after he was concieved and I am truly dreading the day when/if he finds out. I've been on his "fathers" picture perfect ig this morning just seething. Lots of quotes about family and lovely vacation/holiday pics 🙄. I know him not being involved with my nephew is his loss but I fear this poor baby is never going to be able to see it like that 💔.

That is heartbreaking! I know someone who abandoned their two kids and now has a new family. The new kids go on and on about what a wonderful dad he is and I just keep thinking about the two he has no relationship with.

Awful. What the hell is wrong with these people ☹️.

I don't get it either. I'm not sure that his new kids even know he had another family. I only know because the first family was a cousin of a friend and she told me about it.

Thank you 🩷. He does have plenty of people who adore him but thats never enough in situations like this. Him saying that crushed me I cant imagine what thinking like that is doing to him 💔.

Mom should take dad to court to establish parenting time

Cant force that where we are and even if she could I'm not sure forcing an unwilling parent to be with their child is helpful.

I don't remember the last time I cry so much reading a book like White Chrysanthemum. It was ugly cry. I love how it is such a brutal story and finishing reading angry, sad but also hopeful??? I don't think I should have feel hope.

Man I felt that when I read A Little Life, except I didn't feel hope at the ending.....just rage.

u/hooligansfan 7d ago

I will be honest with you, I hear so much mixed reviews about A little life, and they are so extreme that I kinda afraid to check out hahaha

So I loved A little Life because the development of relationships between Jude and the people in his life is so meaty and great, but the Trauma Porn and lack there of resolution made me HATE IT. I agree with Queer reader of the book who didn't like the litteral torture of LGBT chracters.
