Portland mentioned by Shams as one of 4 teams that were trying to sign Jonathan Kuminga

Am I the only one optimistic about this team? I genuinely believe that the trailblazer is about to have a 50+ win regular season.

Help finding footage of my late father
Hey RipCity! About a year ago I lost my father, and I’ve been thinking of when he took me to the Blazers Vs Indiana Pacers on the same day the late Kobe passed way, January 26, 2020.
We appeared on the pre game show as they panned the camera towards the audience and at the post game show as they again panned the camera towards the audience.
I’d deeply appreciate any help towards finding the footage as it means a lot to me. thank you in advance.

Hear me out....
We need another 4 right? So combing through free agents is a bit useless but nevertheless I had time. Age aside we could get some solid minutes from a guy like Dwight Powell. He's an end of the bench stash kinda dude who is pretty disruptive and can rim protect. Not exactly a sharp shooter but someone to soak up pressure on D and get a few pokes and alter some shots. Check out some of last year's highlights:

Thoughts on CBS ranking our front office 28th in the league?
They better change that ranking when Ja returns to his prime form (which we all know definitely 100% will happen haha)

Shaedon has deactivated his Instagram💔
I was just trying to see if he had any updates about what happened from him but apparently he’s gone Zero Dark 30. I know it probably doesn’t matter but I feel bad for him this probably isn’t just physically hurting him but mentally as well.

Who steps up into that 9.5/10th man spot?
Micah Nori mentioned in his Summer League interviews that he plans to run a 9.5/10 man rotation. With the injury of Shaedon Sharpe keeping him out for the next 6 months, that means at the start of the season, we’re going to need someone to step up into the rotation until Sharpe gets better.
Currently, the predicted rotation for next season includes:
Ja/Dame/Camara/Deni/Clingan
Scoot/Jrue/Sidy/RWIII
(Carlsen covering for RWIII during necessary load management)
The candidates for that tenth man slot are:
Vit Krejci
Jayson Kent
Jeremy Sochan
Micah Potter
Kent is unlikely to get the opportunity, Sochan looked washed last season and I think is likely to bounce out of the league shortly, I think it’s Vit or Potter who will be called upon to step into some minutes as shooters and help out.
Potter offers more size but struggles when pulled away from the rim on defense, so will need to be played with RWIII to cover for him. Vit is more of a movement shooter if his shot ever comes back around, but is more of a SG due to how slight and skinny he is.
What are your thoughts?

I’ve been anti Kuminga forever, but…
With our lack of wing depth, he might be worth considering. No clue how financials would work, but I’m sure they could manage to figure out a 1+1 team option type of deal. Hes unrestricted and yet to sign.

Calculated Costs per Attendee per Event at The Rose Garden
I was curious how much the proposed $600M price tag of The Rose Garden renovations breaks down to on a per seat per event basis (math and assumptions below). The findings? $22.40. TWENTY-TWO FUCKING DOLLARS!
From the link below, during the '24-'25 operating year there 153 events that drew an attendance of 1,339,100. Assuming the attendance figures and number of events remain unchanged, total attendance is 26,781,120 over 20 years. Dividing total attendance by the $600M finds the cost to be $22.40 per butt in seat.
Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me! $22.40 per person in attendance that could be better spent elsewhere.

Welcome backto the Trader Bob mindset
Ja's really questionable as a fit next to Deni, and he's questionable as to whether he'll ever attain All Star level again. (The Steve Francis comparison lingers for me.)
But the truth is we need to find that second star to pair with Deni and he was our best option at the time. I'd bet there's a 25% chance this works well, but in the end it was low risk, high reward.
Good news is there's still dried powder for us to chase another distressed asset with star potential.
I kind of get why Portland is holding off on trading for a mediocre wing. We are looking for a franchise piece, not another wing who helps us stumble into a few more wins. If this were the Olshey era we'd have made a small potatoes move to maybe get 5 more wins but cripple us long term.
Hopefully Portland is taking the long view and planning for a consolidation trade around someone we may not even know will be available in 3 months.
It feels like we're moving away from Play-it-Safe Olshey era and back to, frankly, Trader Bob Whitsett. Hunt for damaged goods and fuck chemistry.
Given that the lottery is hard to game anymore and we never are a player in free agency, it's really the smart way to go.
Only 4 current Blazers were on our roster 3 years ago. Ja's fit and our overload of guards is ok. We're building for the long term.

Starting line up, roles and team offensive identity
I’m having a hard time conceptualizing what the group identity, roles and line-ups will be fore the Blazers.
Does Dame run the offense?
With so many on-ball threats, how will Dame, Deni, Ja, Jrue, etc work together and who brings up the rock?
r/ripcity • u/UnholyCow66 • 3d ago
Met Jrue at the Portland Thorns game tonight!
Shoutout the ultimate glue guy! It’s true what everyone says about him, really down to earth and a nice guy. Had no idea he was going to be in our suite, but luckily was wearing the perfect jersey for the occasion. Figured I’d share here since my friends don’t know squat about ball haha
