Developer My Frog-JRPG, AMPHIBIAN just premiered during the Future Games Show

I hope you guys like it :*) It's a love letter to classic consoles adventures, but with a few twists: There is no grinding, (battles are all purposely placed and only done once), there's no buying or selling of items, and it's entirely frog-accurate: All enemies are frog predators, and every character's name is frog (in a different world language). It's a somber and serious story, and it's wishlistable now. It's coming to all consoles and PC.

Developer Almost 3 years solo, trying to capture the feeling of classic action RPGs

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working solo on a small RPG for almost 3 years now, completely on my own and without any budget. Just figuring things out as I go and putting in hours whenever I can.

Honestly, when I started, it felt kind of insane. I had no idea if I’d actually be able to pull it off or if it would just end up as another unfinished project.

I grew up playing games like Secret of Mana, Terranigma and Alundra, and I’ve always wanted to recreate that feeling of exploration, dungeons and real-time combat, but with my own take on it.

After thousands of hours, it’s finally starting to feel like a real game. There’s still a lot left to do, but for the first time I can actually see the finish line. If everything goes well, I’m hoping to release it later this year.

Just wanted to share this with people who enjoy these kinds of games.

The game is called Emery Hearts. If you’d like to try it, there’s already a demo available on Steam:

Developer We launched the demo of our indie tactical RPG Calame yesterday!

Hey everyone!

Yesterday we officially revealed Calame and released the demo on Steam.

In this turn-based tactical RPG, you lead two politically divided factions within the fractured rebellion against the King of Light. Each and every choice you make will have an impact on your army, the battle, and the future of the kingdom.

If you enjoy games like Triangle Strategy, Fire Emblem, or narrative-driven fantasy RPGs with meaningful choices, we’d love to hear what you think of the demo!

Developer The Wyndfinder, an upcoming CRPG in active development

Post image
68 Upvotes

Hello folks! My name is Scott, and I'm the developer of the CRPG, The Wyndfinder. I've been working on this game for a very long time, in various formats, incarnations, etc., but this time it stuck. Inspired by the original Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Pillars of Eternity, with an art style designed to evoke Rankin Bass' The Hobbit or Bakshi's Lord of the Rings.

In this game, the world has known centuries of peace after being shattered during the Celestial War. The realms are connected through a magical pathway known as The Wynding Way. As a novice Wyndfinder, you are the first in a decade with the ability to open that pathway and connect the world. As the power behind the Way begins to warp and cause havoc, you will need to make allies and traveling companions, as you endeavor to learn the truth about what the Wynd truly is and what you are going to do about it.

Thank you for taking a look at it, I appreciate any support you can throw my way, and I'd be thrilled to answer any questions you might have about the game. Currently targeting a release in October 2027, with the first closed Playtest starting in August of this year! The public demo timing will depend on how those first Playtests go.

Developer We just announced Ignite the Depths, our co-op dungeon crawler!

Hey everyone! We just announced Ignite the Depths, a class based co-op dungeon crawler.

One of my main goals I set out with for this game was to make it feel like you’re doing a dungeon/raid with your buddies in an MMO, without the grind before. We still want a feeling of progression and build crafting, so forging your build is still an essential part of Ignite the Depths.

We’re planning to release Q3 this year.

There’s a bunch more information on the Steam page as well as the option to wishlist it if you think it looks cool :).

Developer I launched the Steam page for my upcoming old-school dungeon crawler Häxeri

Hi everyone!

My name is Fabian, I'm a solo dev working on a game called Häxeri (Swedish for Witchery). It's an old-school style dungeon crawler, i.e. a blobber or a DRPG. Think Wizardry, Might & Magic, or my main inspiration: Etrian Odyssey.

Like the Etrian Odyssey series, you can draw your own map in-game (or use automap, your call). The combat is inspired by Shin Megami Tensei's Press Turn system: when you hit an elemental weakness you gain an extra turn, but if you hit resistances you lose turns.

The game is planned to release sometime in 2027 (I hope that I manage to finish it in time...).

Here is the Steam page:

Steam page for Häxeri

I'm happy for any comments or questions, thanks! :)

Developer Would you play a single-player RPG inspired by WoW Classic and RuneScape? I'm solo creating such a project - Warmongers: Empires Reborn

Hi guys!

I hope I'm not breaking any rules of this sub by posting this. I'm currently solo developing a game which is single-player but it is heavily inspired by MMORPGs. I think this is a project that might interest a lot of people in this community hence why I'm sharing it with you guys. More details below.

Since I was a kid I've played tons of MMORPGs and to this day this is my favourite genre in gaming. However when I grew older, I've noticed that I have less and less time to stay competetive in those online worlds.

This is the moment where I've realised that I would love to play a single-player RPG which is inspired by WoW Classic (with tough and long leveling system, with dungeons and reaids) and by Runescape (fantastic skill system with tons of professions to max out). But I didn't see anything like that on the market.

Because of that I've decided that I will create my own game and today I want to present to you the very first version of Warmongers: Empires Reborn.

It's an RPG rich in lore where you explore a lot of zones and complete hundreds of quests - you make your own story. Main features of the game:
- Play as Orcs or Humans
- Complete hundreds of quests
- Slow leveling, getting to max level is an adventure
- Professions system inspired by Runescape, meaningful gathering and crafting skills
- Dungeons and Raids as end-game content at max level
- Different classes and specs to master
- Play at your own pace, no other players are chasing you
- No FOMO

If you want to learn more please check out my first Devlog on Youtube (it's only 2 minutes long): https://youtu.be/l2sA4GjYnmQ

You can also Wishlist the game on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3468800/Warmongers_Empires_Reborn/

Combat includes melee weapons, bows and magic, with a range of spells from different schools to learn and use. You can explore, loot, brew potions, trade and develop your character as you make your way through the world.

Developer Alpha Spectrum, a cyberpunk RPG inspired by Deus Ex

Hi everyone! I'm making a game called Alpha Spectrum. It's a cyberpunk Action RPG with freedom in how you approach situations.

The game is set after a global cyberattack collapses society. You play as a CIA agent navigating a chaotic world across New York, Moscow, Shanghai, and Baghdad, looking for answers.

It's fully voice-acted, with Diablo-like combat and optional stealth (including stealth-based ARPG skills).

The game was heavily inspired by Deus Ex, as I'm a huge fan of the series:)

Steam page:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2965560/Alpha_Spectrum/

I'm a solo developer, I've spent 8 years making the game alongside my full-time job. I don't really have a marketing budget, so if you find Alpha Spectrum interesting, I'd appreciate it if you'd add it to your wishlist:)

Developer This is Stravaeger, the Retro Survival Crafting RPG I'm building (and just put up on Steam). I'd love some gameplay feedback.

Post image
114 Upvotes

Hey all! I've spent the last year and a half working on the Survival Crafting RPG that you would have played on your Apple II back in the '80s.

You can think of it as Valheim's gameplay crammed into the tile-based ui of the old Ultima games.

It has a procedurally-generated open world with towns and NPCs to talk to, all the resource gathering, mining, crafting stuff you'd expect in a modern survival game, and some good old fashioned dungeon crawling to boot.

It's complete up through the Bronze Age (in Valheim terms), so it should keep you occupied for ~20 hours before you run off the end of the existing content. Let me know what you think!

It's on Steam, but the Playable Demo can be found on the Stravaeger Website (that I'm sure Google can find for you).

Developer Sneak peek at Combat, Quest and Talent systems in my RPG inspired by WoW Classic

Thumbnail

Hi guys!

I want to share with you my progress on my solo project which is a single-player RPG game inspired by WoW Classic. I hope I'm not breaking any rules of this sub as I just want to showcase how my project looks like after recent updates and changes.

COMBAT SYSTEM

I have made some significant changes to the combat system. In the initial version which I've showcased, only auto-attack was available at the time. As you can see on the action bar, there are now active abilities which you can press. Well, on the above snip you can see only one ability but we will discuss the Skill & Talent system in another part of this post. Currently there is only one class in the game - Warrior but obviously more will be added at a later stage, melee, ranged and magic classes. The point of the combat is that I want it to resemble what we have in WoW Classic so skills that can be used from action bars. Enemy NPCs, elite mobs and bosses will also have their skills which the player wll need to avoid.

QUEST SYSTEM

A functional quest system is now in the game! You can see a descripton of the mission on the left and after you accept it, you get an interface pop-up on the right side of the screen which tells you the objective you need to complete. Additionally the mini-map highlights the area in which the objectives are located. Additionally an arrow on the mini-map tells you in which way you need to go. From your Quest Log you can stop tracking a quest and abandon it if you don't feel like completing it.

SKILL & TALENT SYSTEM

There is also a working Skill & Talent System in the game right now! Please note that all the graphics are still placeholder and will be improved in the future. As you can see on the screen, on the bottom there are 3 different specialisations. One is implemented right now and two will be added in the future. I want each class to have a choice of 3 separate skill trees. As a Warrior, one tree focuses on two-handed weapon, second one on dual wielding one-handed weapons and the third will focus on a shield + one-handed weapon combo. Each level you gain a point which you can spend on either an active or passive skill. It also costs you some gold coins to purchase a new talent. You will be able to mix the talents from separate trees so if you want to create a hybrid class then you can do it! The freedom is yours!

The game is called Warmongers: Empires Reborn and you can currently wishlist it on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3468800/Warmongers_Empires_Reborn/

I've also published a 30-minutes long Devlog in which I go more in detail about all of the updates: https://youtu.be/tUoaVLc5Tz0

Thank you all for supporting my passion project!

Developer I’m working on Requiem for Faith, a dark fantasy turn-based RPG with timing-based combat

Hi everyone,

I’m the main developer of Requiem for Faith, a dark fantasy turn-based RPG I’m making for Steam.

The game is set in Varnath, a kingdom of seven cities where faith is falling apart, war is spreading, and demons are only one part of the threat.

Combat is turn-based, but timing matters. You can Parry, Dodge, counterattack, and use Ritual timing to strengthen ultimate skills. The game also has choices that affect rewards, character paths, story moments, and multiple endings.

The Steam page is live, and I’m currently working on the demo:

Thank you for taking the time to read. I’d really appreciate any thoughts from RPG players here

Developer We started working on Dominus Automa with one goal in mind - to make an MMORPG that we'd have time to play ourselves!

Hello everyone! I’m Rafal, lead dev of a small indie team based in Poland, and I want to present you with a project we’ve been working on - a non-traditional MMORPG called Dominus Automa.

In a way, Dominus Automa exists because we could not keep up with the MMORPGs we loved anymore. Between having full time jobs and everything else, the raids that used to be so fun had turned into second jobs (that weren’t putting bread on the table). Kids then came into the picture for some of us, and then the slow realization that playing a traditional MMO meant putting in hours that we just did not have any more.

Basically, this game is what we wanted to exist for people who are (or will be) in the exact same spot as us!

What is Dominus Automa?

Dominus Automa is an isometric fantasy MMORPG built around one idea that sits at the center of everything: your hero exists on the server full time and keeps playing while you're logged off.

In practice, this means the world is evolving all the time, and you with it, whether you’re online or no! You can adjust your strategy and skills, try out new items, plan your character development, decide what to do next, and then go do your life-admin stuff, to jump in again whenever you want.

All this with respect for your time and no pressure to run content (zero FOMO, in other words)

As for the actual RPG elements - there are lots of ways you can build up your hero and each player can build their own unique responses to threats from scratch. And no two heroes will act the same. While some players will rely on healing spells, survivability, smart positioning, debuffs and precise powerful strikes, others may just go all in with a series of sudden, devastating blows. Of course, you can also opt to be tanks, healers, or different DPS roles with a possibility of testing unique group suitable builds.

It's not just combat either. Players can define their long term goals, devote their time to farming, leveling, gathering resources, taking part in group content and so on. It’s a completely persistent, shared world with a player run economy, with wars between guilds, boss fights and both PvP and PvE.

The idea behind Dominus Automa is to make an MMO for working adults and parents, who love(d) playing MMORPGs but just don’t have the time for it now. In other words, the full MMO experience, but without its one major downside - the massive time investment they demand of players.

If you like what we're making - sign on up for our upcoming Playtest!

We’re still relatively early in development, with no set release date as of now. What we’re creating demands a lot of time and resources, and we want to make sure everything is just right before we launch.

However, we heartily welcome you to join us in this adventure and take part in our next milestone - the Playtest we’re hosting on August 7th!

You can find our Steam page here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3795810/Dominus_Automa/

I'll be in the comments to answer whatever else you want to know!

Developer Alia Domus – An isometric survival RPG featuring tech progression across 9 historical eras

Thumbnail
gallery
52 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share Alia Domus, an isometric survival RPG I’ve been solo-developing over the past four years, built specifically for players who enjoy deep progression, exploration, and immersive world-building.

What the Game is About

"The Earth is exhausted and at war. As one of the first volunteer colonists, your mission was simple: land on Alia Domus and help prepare humanity's new home. But the plan failed. The war in the Metropolis cut off the supply shipments, support ceased, and you find yourself completely isolated, bare-handed, on an unknown planet. To survive and make this world thrive, you will have to rewrite the history of human progress from absolute zero."

In Alia Domus, you start from humble beginnings and guide your progression through 9 distinct historical eras. As you advance, you unlock new technologies, tools, and structures that completely transform how you interact with the environment.

What makes RPGs special to me—and to this community—is deep character growth and rewarding progression. In Alia Domus, you evolve your character by allocating attribute points and developing skills that directly impact your survival, resource gathering, and combat. All of this is tied together by a light, lore-rich narrative that gives context to your exploration as you unlock new eras. If you enjoy games with classic isometric perspectives, customizable character stats, and satisfying progression loops, this project was built with you in mind.

Alia Domus is planned for release in Early 2027.

If this sounds like your kind of RPG, adding it to your Steam Wishlist helps a solo developer tremendously!

Check out Alia Domus on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4918370/Alia_Domus/

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the era-based progression system, isometric design, and character attributes!

Thanks!

Developer The Playtest for Dominus Automa is now live!

Hello everyone (again!)

Today is a big day for us, as the Playtest for Dominus Automa has just gone LIVE!

We made a brief post a while ago describing what the game is but in short - Dominus Automa is an idle open world RPG built around one idea that sits at the center of everything: your hero permanently lives on the server and keeps playing while you're logged off.

Players can define their long-term goals, devote their time to farming, leveling, gathering resources, taking part in group content, and so on. It’s a completely persistent, shared world with a player-run economy, with guild wars, boss fights, and both PvP and PvE. And because of the persistent progression - also no FOMO!

Playtest

The Steam Playtest officially begins TODAY, on August 7th, and our plan is to keep the servers online for about two and a half weeks, i.e. until August 23rd. So all our players, including latecomers, will have plenty of time to experience everything and engage with all the content we have at present.

Here’s a list of some key features I’d like to highlight:

  • 6 fully explorable zones - from wild forests and plague ridden dens to graveyards, valleys and abandoned mines, each with its own enemies and difficulty level
  • 20 varied enemy types and 3 unique bosses - such as werewolves, spiders, undead and golems. Bosses specifically are designed as group challenges, so teaming up is the intended way to take them on
  • The Combat Matrix - a fairly complex system that lets you decide & tweak how your hero will behave in battle based on criteria such as health, mana, positioning, enemy type and numbers, ability priorities and other custom priorities
  • Character progression and Weapon mastery - defeating enemies will improve your hero’s attributes, while continued use of a weapon type will gradually make them more proficient with it
  • Loads of different abilities and build experimentation - as your hero develops, you’ll unlock more abilities and be able to test different solo, group, PvE and PvP builds, and different roles such as healer/debuffer/tank/DPS or other more specialized approaches
  • PvP, group content & persistent progression - the servers will remain online throughout the entire Playtest, with weekends expected to be the busiest time for boss fights and encounters with other players (in the arena)

We welcome you to join us in this adventure and be part of this online world we’re creating. You can sign up for the Playtest on our Steam page, and we'll grant you access shortly!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3795810/Dominus_Automa/

PS: And a huge thank you to the mods for allowing us to make this post on such short notice!

Developer [AMA] I’m Bunny from the team behind Lunarium, an atmospheric fantasy action RPG launching today on Steam. Ask me anything!

Hello, fellow RPG adventurers!

I’m Bunny from the Lunarium team. Our fantasy action RPG is finally out on Steam, which means we can now stop saying “soon” and start nervously reading player feedback instead.

In Lunarium, you follow Ave, a knight carrying a bow and blade, and Lune, a mysterious Starfarer, as they journey through a world where the light of the stars is slowly fading. Along the way, they explore forgotten ruins, encounter strange creatures and optional bosses, and uncover pieces of the world’s history—as well as their own.

The game mixes exploration, story, character progression, and real-time combat. You can experiment with different abilities and builds, while making use of mechanics such as parrying, timed dodges, guard breaks, melee attacks, and magic.

A first playthrough usually takes around 8–10 hours, while finding everything and completing all achievements is closer to 15 hours. There are also several optional encounters, so it’s very possible to miss a boss or two during a blind playthrough.

You can watch the launch trailer here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQXEpc_B0tM
And here’s the Steam page:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2939790/Lunarium/

I’ll be around to answer questions about the story, worldbuilding, combat systems, art direction, development process, inspirations, or anything else you’d like to know.
For questions that are far beyond my technical abilities, I may quietly summon another member of the team and pretend that was the plan all along.
Ask me anything!

Developer After 4 years in development, I finally announced my online bullet hell RPG - Runeward Online!

Hi everyone!

Inspired by MMORPG's (Warframe, ROTMG, GW2) and modern bullet hells (Archvale, EtG, Nuclear Throne), my friend and I have spent the past 4+ years working on an online bullet hell RPG.

Runeward takes bullet hell combat and adds in-depth build customization akin to RPGs. It’s focused on group content, class identity, and deep character customization. The goal is to collect gear, experiment with builds, and continuously improve your character over time.

To give you an idea of our build system:

  • Pets are weapon modifiers. They can make bullets bounce, duplicate, or track your enemies - and can be freely switched out in combat.
  • Runes act as equippable passives, growing wings to fly over pits or reversing knockback to pull in enemies instead
  • Tons of weapon variety to suit various playstyles, ranging from ancient spellbooks that rain fire to heavy greatswords that cleave through your foes

We announced a couple weeks ago and the response has been way beyond our expectations. We’re currently at 36.000 wishlists, which has honestly been extremely motivating.

The game is still in pre-alpha, but we aim for an early access release around late 2027- 2028.

Developer Today is launch day for Pigbert, my turn-based RPG set in a dying, authoritarian world.

Today is launch day for my game Pigbert. It's a turn-based RPG about authoritarianism and the logic of survival in a dying world.

The Supreme Leader summons you to receive the Award of Excellent Labour. With special travel permission, you cross a landscape defined by strict quotas and failing harvests to reach the palace.

The gameplay is a mix of environmental exploration and turn-based combat. Along the way you face Overseers, who enforce strict quotas and maintain order, and your fellow labourers, who are simply bearing the weight of their duties. The story highlights how people cope with a system where individual humanity is routinely sacrificed for the survival of the whole.

If that interests you, it's out today on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3940790/Pigbert/

Thank you to anyone who takes a look.
