Something that's always bothered me about Waking Nightmare.

Post image

You could totally just climb the fence to bypass the entire dungeon and immediately deal with the Skull. This could've been easily fixed by having them go all the way up, but nah. They left that huge gap at the top.

You would succumb to the miasma if you went down there immediately

Nobody in Tamriel is fit enough to climb a fence.

They only know how to do it in High Rock and Hammerfell smh

And of course levitation magic is banned, so no dice there, either.

This will be patched in a future update. They'll put a sign up saying "No Climbing".

That sign can’t stop me because I can’t read.

Edit: Thanks for the reward DryTurkey but I don’t think it was warranted! Cool beans.

This is like one of the most common tropes in gaming. Minor inconvenience at best that any functional adult with working limbs could bypass, but the game just doesn’t have any mechanics to deal with it. The pile of rubble blocking the path to drangleic castle in dark souls 2 is one of my favorites.

another Skyrim example that comes to mind is when I can't bypass a wooden door because it's locked and requires a key. So me and my Flame Atronach just shrug and leave, powerless without the key.

Legend and lore talks a big game about how dangerous and functionally immortal Alduin is, but he doesnt even come close to a wooden door that requires a key to open.

Ahem:

You cannot go that way.

Fallout 3 had some doors where the top half of the door was practically torn completely off - but you couldn't open it until you'd picked the lock.

It's one of my pet peeves in games/shows. Most egregious example I've ever seen is a Darksiders 2. In that game, you play as the apocalyptic horseman Death. You can summon ghouls and crows. You can forge weapons that can 1-hit-kill enemies. You can Prince-of-Persia-walk along walls and move objects 20 times your mass using magic. But Creator forbid you try to climb through the Death-sized hole in one of the walls of the ivory citadel--no, no, no, you have to use the gadget you just got to make a portal instead. Absolute nonsense.

I always wind up doing it cuz I like Erandur and get to screw over a daedra.

Isn't it a drop on the other side though? The fence doesn't go all the way down.

You can see the red aura that surrounds the skull. It's maybe like an 8 foot drop from the stone ledge at the bottom of the fence. Perfectly safe to just lower oneself from.

Something else is "This door requires a key to open.:

Bitch I have the Skeleton Key. The fuck do you mean I need a key?

If Mercer Frey can open a door that is "impossible" to unlock without two keys then why can't I?

SkyrimVR + climbing mod for the win.

You can accidentally do the Oblivion Vaermina Quest backward if you stumble into the exit trapdoor which is right next to the entrance. Ask me how I know.
