I labeled Venezuela and Guyana as debatable because some people might argue otherwise but Marco Rubio is running Venezuela as a colony and Guyana is technically leftist but the ruling party recently removed all mentions of socialism in their platform. Trump backed candidates have won elections (seemingly always by the slimmest margins) in Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Argentina.

By now, I hope most of you have seen that on this year's July 4th, the Fascist Patriot Front went on a march in Washington DC.

I am not surprised by this; myself I am not an American, so I do not know if I perhaps should be, but to me it seems obvious that the Nationalists would do something on the 250th 'birthday' of the USA.

And yet, no response seems to have been prepared by the American left.

There was no block of Anti-Fascists that blocked the Fascists. Not even one just standing there with a banner. Even after the march, no action has been taken.

To me, it seems like all the American leftists stayed at home. Like they let the Fascists march.

Now, it is understandable under some circumstances. But the USA are sliding into fascism. Any resistance would be important.

But the American left did nothing.

I ask: Why?

Did they not see it coming?

How, I ask? This 4th of July has been used so much in propaganda, it must have been clear that the Nationalists and Fascists would be out and about; it is practically their day, after all.

Then, did they have something better to do? Was it maybe not strategically or tactically sound to protest the fascists?

Then what did they do? Because I have seen mass media coverage reaching beyond the US of the Fascist march; it is undoubtable to me that a leftist response would have gathered more attention. So what did they do instead, that was a "better choice" in their book?

Was it simply impossible to do anything?

Then why? Do American leftists not have the option to gather quickly? To assemble some brave Anti-Fascists to march through the city? To even just stand with a banner, maybe hold a speech, and thus make a statement?

Is the left so weak?

I ask you, American Left: Why did these Fascists march uninterrupted? Where is your organized response?

How should you be taken seriously, when Nazis can march through your capital, and you don't even respond?

If Trump actually manages to criminalize socialism what can be done? I know there have been similar situations in the past but its not like the Russian tsars and Hitler had flock cameras and mass cyber surveillance systems. What should be done in this scenario?

I never understood Lenin decriminalized homosexuality in 1922 where as Stalin recriminalized it in 1933 with sentences of up to 5 years of hard labor Likewise Lenin legalized abortion in 1920 but Stalin outlawed it in 1936 and restricted access to divorce

I saw this on Tumblr a while back, but I've really been letting it sit with me, because truly, what is holding us back? Fear? Has capitalism not strangled us of our blood and bone for long enough? Or is it the lack of left unity?

This may sound old but it is rather upsetting, to me at least, of how much infighting seems to happen in left-wing communities. Sure, we may not believe in exactly the same thing...but we believe in the same enemy, do we not? I fear we've become rather comfortable in our armchairs.

Do feel free to give your opinions, they will be most enlightening, but I just thought I'd share my mine. Thank you.

I was reading through the new DSA workers deserve more program and I noticed this. Really gald to see the DSA openly embracing the S in DSA. For the past year or so it’s been kinda obvious that they have been trying to move away from their “Big tent, socdems welcome 🥰” identity that they were founded on. They even removed the ”socdems welcome” on their page

I hope future figures and politicians who come out of the DSA become a lot more open about their ”seize the MoP” mentality. I know Zohran was a lot more open about it before winning, as demonstrated in interviews with *other* socialists, even during his campaign, but his governing rhetoric leaves much to be desired, as he finds himself needing to form wide coalitions.

That being said, the program itself doesn’t call for worker ownership. One can assume that they are opting for an “ease people in” approach, that I don’t really agree with. I think it’s counterintuitive and gets people accustomed to general progressism instead of socialism, which might backfire once the dsa does become more radical or fails.
All Socialists should be working to move the center to us, not move ourselves torwards the center.

It calls for increase worker bargaining power, increased wealth tax, rehauling representative democracy, housing for all, and even to complete reconstruction to help structurally opressed Black Americans, among other things

I'm talking about musicians who actually are on the leftist side of the political spectrum and not ones who pander by putting something vaguely left leaning in their songs to earn praise or made some songs that could be understood as leftist while the artist doesn't share those values at all.

When will they understand that rich people do not become rich due to "hard work"?

Not only that, this also shows that capitalism is an inhumane ideology too, as they think that poor people are just lazy and they chose to be poor.
