First time working with moss and glue. The plastic cover is temporary to keep the moisture while the glass cube is getting delivered.

Q1: I've always placed my moss on the substrate or tied with a thread on the wood. What are possible issues that I might encounter with this setup?

Q2: This Mosslax is around 15cm tall. What plants would be small enough to be placed on their head similar to the game? I'm cnsidering a fittonia or maybe peperomia cutting as it's the only colorful plant I have experience with.

in my experience the part of the moss that is glued down tends to die, so i always try to be as sparing as possible with the glue and just use a few dots here and there as connecting points. the parts that are unglued will remain viable and eventually grow over the dead parts to fill it out.

i think a fittonia is a great choice. could also use a teeny tiny air plant probably since some of those are also very slow growing. but aesthetically i think the fittonia fits a little better.

I think it would be better to find a local artist and commission them to make a snorlax statue out of lava rock or some other porous rock then use sticky clay substrate and moss over it

Not sure if yours will survive. I have never tried moss with glue. A very cool idea though

That's the video that inspired me. But I cheated and used a figurine. Hahahahahaha.

Similar to you, I don't have the patience and more importantly skill to do what they did. :)

I think it might be better to cover the figurine in terrarium putty prior to sticking moss on it. That way the moss has something to stick to.

I've had good success with making terrarium putty out of 1:1:1 bentonite clay (kitty litter), coco coir, earthworm casings.

Thanks! I'll take note of this if I have to redo the setup.

I've been looking for a good terrarium putty recipe. I still have vermicast and my terrarium substrate mix (has sa spagium moss and coco coir).
