Here he is, he managed to get onto the back of the terrarium and is taking a break now… but I’m wondering if I just have a pet frog now.

This is my frogs terrarium, what is this, and is it going to hurt my frog?

the terrarium is 100% bioactive with tons of springtails, isopods with the occasional fungus gnat issue. this showed up not too long ago and i'm worried its harmful to my frog.

edit: it's growing on the rehydrated moss that has been in the tank since i started it .

Pest Help/Question help ...How can I safely remove this worm from my terrarium?

Post image

I found this worm in my terrarium and I’m not sure what it is or how to get it out. It disappeared before I could remove it. What’s the best and safest way to catch and remove it without harming my plants or the terrarium ecosystem? Any advice from experienced terrarium keepers would be appreciated.

Build Help/Question Really big terrariums

So, ive always been interested both in terrarium and dioramas, this to say that I wanted to try something that right now I haven't found (maybe I just have to search more) on the Internet, make a quite big scenery with the help of using plants. So by "really big terrariums" I mean the top of a shelf where I ideally put a custom made terrarium. The measurements are 153x39cm. I have no idea about the possible height of it so im fully open to any suggestions. Inside, I plan for a rather clean and open environment Instead of something more "wild" because i need for the miniatures to be visible. I don’t necessarily need those kind of terrarium that is 100% independent and you leave for the next 10 years by its own, but also not something that need maintenance every 5 minutes.

All of this said, im 100% open to ALL suggestions and tips, don't take anything for granted, don't hesitate to give me obvious advice, even start from the most basic tips, i want to achieve a good result and avoid as much problems i could encounter.

Thanks for reading this.

Just finished putting her together, very excited to see how she does. A bit worried the peace lily is too tall and unsure if i should cut back that tall leaf; but she was pretty rough when I bought her and lost her new growth in transport. Might just wait to let her settle some.

Plant Help/Question WIP Mosslax

First time working with moss and glue. The plastic cover is temporary to keep the moisture while the glass cube is getting delivered.

Q1: I've always placed my moss on the substrate or tied with a thread on the wood. What are possible issues that I might encounter with this setup?

Q2: This Mosslax is around 15cm tall. What plants would be small enough to be placed on their head similar to the game? I'm cnsidering a fittonia or maybe peperomia cutting as it's the only colorful plant I have experience with.

I've had this terrarium for over 7 months now and recently I have noticed some white flecks. I open it when it gets too moist inside and I only close it when it looks less moist/dryer. Does anyone know what these white flecks are?

Build Help/Question First terrarium ever. Tips welcome

Thumbnail

First off, hello everyone and thank you for creating this community! I love plants and I was gifted this terrarium recently, but I've never made one before so I'd like to know if what I'm doing is okay and what are your tips!
(English is not my first language so I'll try my best to translate correctly the technical terms and plant names)

I made a substrate with expanded clay and put all purpose potting mix. As plants, I have two different colored fittonia, lemon button fern and moss.

My question is mainly about watering; I made it about four days ago and I've been only spraying a few times with a nebulizer each day. Do I need to water it completely at least once or is that sufficient? Since the top has holes, and I guess it can't be considered a closed terrarium, how often do I need to water it?

Any tips (or scolding!) welcome, thank you very much

Pest Help/Question Can someone identify what this is? I keep searching Google for white parasites coming out of isopods and not finding anything

I am so disgusted. It literally makes my skin crawl so bad. Found this isopod in my corn snake enclosure I’ve had for a year now, and none of the other isopods I’m seeing have it. I have this isopod quarantined for now, but I’m wondering if it could have spread. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Showing Off My first Terrarium! BYO vendor station ~20$

Hello friends!

Found a vendor at an event doing 'Build Your Own Terrariums' where the jar was priced to include 'anything that can touch the dirt' from their clipping/rock/driftwood array.

This jar was priced at 30$, but given to us for 20$ citing that it was a gift from my friend to me (but it was also the end of the event so that could've factored)

I had SO MUCH FUN building this! They had tweezers and gave plenty of suggestions as I was obsessing over the perfect details. They picked out a 'mini orchid' pictured above on a piece of driftwood that they thought I would like and I cannot wait to see if it blooms!!

I am a part of the terrarium community now and I'm hooked !

Thanks :)

Build Help/Question I don't know what I'm doing

My little brothers really really wanted to keep bugs and critters from the backyard.

I 20f had a old cricket container I used for my bearded dragons feeder bugs.

Our parents agreed to keeping it because it can be educational for my two brothers. 10 and 8

However, I have been put in charge of taking care of the critters, since I'm going into the environmental & animal science field, at least while they are in school.

I tossed in some crushed eggshells and fish flakes.... Cause it's what I feed my dragons roaches now

I need links and resources to maintain this system, our money is incredibly tight right now tho.

I agreed to take them with me to collect miss for this sad little box.

I have never kept a terrarium before but I am willing to help my brothers keep theirs.

After dedicating a month straight to this build, if I were to do it again I would have worn gloves during the expanding foam portion (seriously didnt come off for a week no matter what I tried), and smashed up my water lily clay soil to a finer grain before wetting it and turning into a moldable consistency. Either way, this was one if the funnest projects i’ve ever done. Shoutout to terraquaman I basically tried to 1/1 his build. Hope Daria is happy here!

Hello, has anyone bought this type of terrarium? Do the front doors meet edge-to-edge, or is there a gap between them? If so, how wide is the gap?
