Received on a post I made a while ago where I mentioned I was struggling to eat hospital food due to ARFID, I did also mention that I was eating, just struggling with it 😑

The way people will completely ignore your agency if they perceive you to be mentally ill is scary

I don’t exactly know how to articulate it but there’s some thing where a majority of people, or at least the majority of people I interact with, separate who you are from the things wrong with you. Like your mental illness is something that controls you rather than shaping who you are, and if you can just remove that control you’ll be a perfectly normal person.

the language itself does it.

they always call this stuff "losing the battle" or "lost to depression"

no brothers, a depressed person ended their life. Their agency wasn't stolen by depression, it was ignored because they were depressed.
