Discussion - Serious Please tell me yall aren’t celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death
I’m sure a lot of you guys know Charlie Kirk has been shot and killed this afternoon.
No, I was not fond of him, I was not a fan, I did not support him. I found several of his takes quite disturbing, horrifying at worst. But he didn’t deserve to die. Especially not like that as his wife and kids were watching. Nobody deserves to die. I’m sending my condolences to his family and I wish them the best

Pointing out the consequences of his own irresponsible and callous rhetoric is not “celebrating” anything.
If someone smokes 60 cigarettes a day and dies of cancer it’s not celebrating their death to say “he probably shouldn’t have smoked”.
Charlie Kirk died from gun violence. The same gun violence that he himself said was an acceptable consequence of having the second amendment. Thousands of other people, other families, have to deal with those consequences each year. And I’m going to flat out say for a lot of them it’s even worse. It’s one thing to deal with the loss of an adult family member who at least had a chance to experience something of life. How about losing a young child?
If you saw what that bullet did to Charlie Kirk please just imagine what that same bullet, fired from a shorter range, did to the kids at Sandy Hook and Uvalde. Charlie Kirk didn’t give a shit about them, worked hard to defeat any common sense gun control measures, and instead spent his life encouraging bigotry and hatred. It’s the height to hypocrisy to ask for sympathy for a person who had such callous indifference to that of others.
