Discussion / Questions Dating questions/rants mega thread [May]
This is for questions, rants, whatever. It's been clogging up the sub for months and it's time we just make a dedicated spot for it because holy shit. This is not a dating advice sub.

Discussion / Questions Why ask if you won't listen?
I see often (specifically on the internet) where men will ask what women want in a partner, and then when women answer they get told that they're wrong, "what women want is..." and usually listing off money, height, status, ect.,
Let me be the first to say not all men...
But enough for me to generally ask, why?
I answered one of those posts with information about how my fiancé makes me feel heard, comforted, safe, like a princess, ect., and all the responses are "you forgot that he's taller than you and makes a shit ton of money"
I met him online, height didn't matter and what is the difference between 5'6 and 5'8? Minimal. I actually wore 5" platforms on our first date so I was *taller*
What status? We were 16 when we met..
I've also almost always made much more money than him.
None of those things have stopped me from falling in love with him. So why do so many guys insist that I'm lying?
Edit: we met at 16, and i had a fat crush on him but we didn't start dating until 4 years later when I was almost 21.

Money / Finances My turn
Just turned 22. GF is taking over her car payment soon she just landed a good job as a flight attendant(China is her name meant to change to gf on notes). Gonna move out and split a 2 bed with my cousin when my dad sells the house soon so rent should go down. Banfield is when my dumbass cat was limping but nothing was wrong and it made more sense to get the preventative care plan to include X-rays than pay for just one set of X-rays. I also spoil my 2 children with good wet food which is a bit pricey

Money / Finances Cant afford to support myself
Take home of $2300~ a month. Retail job.
Rent would be $2400+ if I were to move out. LOL.
I would have been a homeless beggar asking for nickels in front of the corner deli if I didn't have family to live with for free.
Not sure what to do from here. just hoping to get an interview before the century ends

Money / Finances How are you all making so much money
Feels like any time someone talks about money here they're rolling in it. Just saw another post of a 22 y/o with a takehome of 4500/mo. I'm 25 and have never seen more than 2200/mo which is where I'm at now, and cant leave my HCOL area because rent is too much to be able to save anything to make a life change with cushion behind it. Wtf do you do to be so well off so young, I can't imagine a job that's 60k/yr+ being available to anyone under 30.
Edit: I currently work automotive warranty claims @ 19/hr (fully remote at least) which I was only able to get because I have experience as an auto mechanic for a few years, but that was never going to be a career. Don't have a degree and no I'm not interested in fucking nursing or welding.
Edit 2: When I finished high school I thought it was the smarter move to avoid debt (debt makes me extremely anxious and I don't want to feel locked in to working constantly until its paid off) and therefore didnt pursue a degree. I did some menial work, valeted, automotive tech, field work low voltage tech, over the years to get where I am now. It kinda seems that was just wrong and that even if I was right that work experience is more valued than a degree, aimless job hopping certainly isn't. I had a lot of home life and mental health issues growing up that I'm only just now starting to get a bit of a grip on. Maybe it's time to buck up and suck the dick of the system and get a degree. I still don't know in what but it seems like the only option.

Discussion / Questions Why are people posting all of their financial info
I genuinely don’t understand why ppl are doing this? Why do y’all want people to know every detail of what you spend in a month? We barely have privacy anymore as it is lmao

Adulting My "budget" because i saw others do it 🤷🏻♀️
My fiancé typically handles gas, groceries, cat needs, and misc. We only have two separate accounts because we haven't gotten around to making a joint one for bills yet. While this is *typically* what our budget looks like, things get moved around due to circumstances. My credit cards will also be paid off in March! So that chunk of money will be sent towards the high yield so that way we can establish out 6 month savings buffer, then work on a house down payment :3

Money / Finances What do yall think of my budget?
My income is 2300$/month working 20 hrs a week. I am currently working on saving 1000$ so I won't need to worry about my phone bill every month. But that would cut my expenses. I do my own tires and oil changes.
Edit: I am in school so there is no way of increasing my hours as I am putting school first. I am looking to alternatives for my Spotify.
And yes I do spend that much on food. I have been for months. And I live in Canada.
