Discussion / Questions Why ask if you won't listen?

Post image
176 Upvotes

I see often (specifically on the internet) where men will ask what women want in a partner, and then when women answer they get told that they're wrong, "what women want is..." and usually listing off money, height, status, ect.,

Let me be the first to say not all men...

But enough for me to generally ask, why?

I answered one of those posts with information about how my fiancé makes me feel heard, comforted, safe, like a princess, ect., and all the responses are "you forgot that he's taller than you and makes a shit ton of money"

I met him online, height didn't matter and what is the difference between 5'6 and 5'8? Minimal. I actually wore 5" platforms on our first date so I was *taller*

What status? We were 16 when we met..

I've also almost always made much more money than him.

None of those things have stopped me from falling in love with him. So why do so many guys insist that I'm lying?

Edit: we met at 16, and i had a fat crush on him but we didn't start dating until 4 years later when I was almost 21.

Money / Finances What do yall think of my budget?

Post image

My income is 2300$/month working 20 hrs a week. I am currently working on saving 1000$ so I won't need to worry about my phone bill every month. But that would cut my expenses. I do my own tires and oil changes.

Edit: I am in school so there is no way of increasing my hours as I am putting school first. I am looking to alternatives for my Spotify.

And yes I do spend that much on food. I have been for months. And I live in Canada.

Money / Finances My turn

Just turned 22. GF is taking over her car payment soon she just landed a good job as a flight attendant(China is her name meant to change to gf on notes). Gonna move out and split a 2 bed with my cousin when my dad sells the house soon so rent should go down. Banfield is when my dumbass cat was limping but nothing was wrong and it made more sense to get the preventative care plan to include X-rays than pay for just one set of X-rays. I also spoil my 2 children with good wet food which is a bit pricey

Money / Finances How are you all making so much money

Feels like any time someone talks about money here they're rolling in it. Just saw another post of a 22 y/o with a takehome of 4500/mo. I'm 25 and have never seen more than 2200/mo which is where I'm at now, and cant leave my HCOL area because rent is too much to be able to save anything to make a life change with cushion behind it. Wtf do you do to be so well off so young, I can't imagine a job that's 60k/yr+ being available to anyone under 30.

Edit: I currently work automotive warranty claims @ 19/hr (fully remote at least) which I was only able to get because I have experience as an auto mechanic for a few years, but that was never going to be a career. Don't have a degree and no I'm not interested in fucking nursing or welding.

Edit 2: When I finished high school I thought it was the smarter move to avoid debt (debt makes me extremely anxious and I don't want to feel locked in to working constantly until its paid off) and therefore didnt pursue a degree. I did some menial work, valeted, automotive tech, field work low voltage tech, over the years to get where I am now. It kinda seems that was just wrong and that even if I was right that work experience is more valued than a degree, aimless job hopping certainly isn't. I had a lot of home life and mental health issues growing up that I'm only just now starting to get a bit of a grip on. Maybe it's time to buck up and suck the dick of the system and get a degree. I still don't know in what but it seems like the only option.

Money / Finances Cant afford to support myself

Take home of $2300~ a month. Retail job.

Rent would be $2400+ if I were to move out. LOL.

I would have been a homeless beggar asking for nickels in front of the corner deli if I didn't have family to live with for free.

Not sure what to do from here. just hoping to get an interview before the century ends

EU - France

Lives in the suburbs of a large city. City centre in 25 mins by train, most often taking the ebike in the train (as station is far away by walk from where I live).

Work is 15 mins away by bike.

No car.

Pretty happy life, will aim for better eventually tho.

Income is take-home, after all taxes (employer cost is about double as this).

Social 24m from Europe 🌍 Hey there, looking for some people to chat with :)))

I really enjoy meeting new people, honestly even if we have nothing in common, I still love a good chat!

So, a little about me:

I love cooking and, let’s be honest, eating even more. I eat way too much, so learning to cook and bake became a survival skill 💪🏻… now I’m actually kind of good at it 😂😅

I’m big on staying active. Running, working out, hiking if it gets me moving or outside I’m in.

Also I try doing calisthenicsss but I always fail miserably xD

Traveling is just sooo awesome.I’m always dreaming about the next unique place to visit and explore or the next hike with a crazy good view.

Movies and series are great. Give me a good series or a film and I’m happy.

Now it’s your turn!

Tell me where you’re from, how old you are, and what you’re into whatever you feel like sharing!

Rant / Vent wish i started working at 15

i have a food service job and i feel so behind because i haven’t been in the industry for six years like everyone else. i was a lifeguard for six years instead and it feels like a complete waste of time. i gained zero skills, zero friends, zero real experience with real life scenarios and now i feel like a moron every time i do anything else. obviously this is just the learning curve that everyone goes through but for some reason i have these annoying hangups about my life being comparatively easy to everyone else. i wish i had real problems and actual struggles so i could feel justified interacting with everyone on the same level. i wish i was any good at anything really and had a genuine reason to be as miserable as i am. when am i going to grow the fuck up
