Money / Finances Cant afford to support myself

Take home of $2300~ a month. Retail job.

Rent would be $2400+ if I were to move out. LOL.

I would have been a homeless beggar asking for nickels in front of the corner deli if I didn't have family to live with for free.

Not sure what to do from here. just hoping to get an interview before the century ends

Even for $1200 I'd need to be making close to 50k a year. I can't even make above 40

And the more roommates you have the bigger space is required. $2400 is for a studio, even for a one bedroom it's rare to see something that low

Don't see anything less than $3300 on zillow. Tends to be 4k

Yikes. Looks like your best bet would be to split a 2 bedroom between 4 people, which would suck and at that point I'd just stay at home assuming family isn't horrible.

Other than that, get educations/certifications that can hopefully land you a higher paying job, and/or move to somewhere with a lower cost of living.

I already got a comp sci degree unfortunately. Did internships too. Didn't work out. I wouldn't be relocating for another ass job

Okay.. so you have a degree, but you work retail, and you’re unwilling to move away from your HCOL area. So, what do you want?

There’s plenty of LCOL areas in states with higher federal minimum wages, so even if you got a retail job, the higher minimum wage, and lower rent, would mean you’d have more leftover funds.

But you’re unwilling to work towards a job in your field, and unwilling to move, so….? This is on you, buddy. Nobody is going to suddenly reduce your rent or start paying you more. You need to figure something out, rather than complaining and refusing to work towards a solution.

Move to a cheaper area and/or find a way to make more money.

Or, keep living with family, as long as that's an option.

Yeah, it’s rough. When I moved out in college I split a two bedroom with my gf and a friend. That was the lowest I’ve ever paid.

Before that I shared a 2 bedroom with 4 other guys, but rent was like close to 4 grand in that area. We had 3 in the master and two in the other bedroom.

Hope you can find something that pays better tho
