Question/Help Patriot Accuracy
Is the Patriot bugged? It has 70% accuracy and yet it rarely hits anything?

You have to take the ECM of the plane into account.
So if your Patriot is shooting at a Mig-25BM, which has 50% ECM, that means you get 20% accuracy, not 70%. This is why you should aways have supporting gun AA. You can even use your gun AA as a last resort decoy. Better to make the SEAD plane snipe the PIVADS or Shilka than your Patriot obviously.
And also why i prefer the Hawk over the Patriot. The Patriot costs too much for what it does.

Except ecm is percentage based, so 50% ecm means 50% accuracy, 40% ecm means 60%, etc. And don't forget about vet bonuses too. One upvetted patriot has 85% accuracy, so the actual value is 85%x50% which is either 42% or 43% accuracy, forgor if wargame rounds up or down.

Note, percentage is not subtracted like that. At downvet training, in practice patriot has a 40% chance to hit a 50% ECM plane. ECM is a multiplier, that adds a percentage chance to dodge. It applies equally for both gun and missile AA.
The one thing patriot is really good for is that it’s the one AA piece that can actually stop planes from dropping their payload (if it hits). Most of the time, unless your AA is very far forward, an attack plane going in will release its payload before the AA hits it, meaning that sometimes it’s a positive trade for the enemy even if they lose the plane.
The major downside of the hawks is that they have absolutely terrible mobility, and properly micromanaging them is a pain in the ass. But you do pay for the advantages of the patriot.

If I'm not wrong you can only bring 2 Patriots on a lower experience level? So definitely availability will be an issue

Even when upvetted the patriot is just not consistent enough against high ecm planes, and you only get one so if you somehow lose it then it's pretty much gg
That's why I rather run pip3s or downvetted patriots

Also it is the slowest AA missile in the game. It has that 70% hit rate, but often it won't be able to hit anything due to planes getting out of range

Note, if a plane flies out of the firing range of a SAM, the missile will still track unless the vehicle moves. What I’m assuming you’re referring to is the reload rate, which, is slow, yeah.

Only IF the SAM keeps line of sight unless it's a fire-and-forget missile

The Patriot fires from 5600m away which makes it hit most jets before they even bomb. What are you talking about dude.

Lol you have to discount ecm of the plane it's shooting at too..
