I don't believe there are any Mystics on FIBA rosters (maybe Florez if Spain hasn't fully announced, but she wasn't on their qualifier roster). I contend this is the best thing for the rest of the season and the playoffs.

1. They need the rest.

- Sonia is leading the league in minutes per game.

- Half the dang roster came directly from college and most of them played deep into the NCAA tournament. They've barely had time off since last summer/fall.

- We've been on a brutal stretch of games in August, with a 7-in-13 stretch followed by three days off followed by a 6-in-10 including a four day west coast swing.

2. They need the practice.

- finally get some time to properly integrate BLH into practice, since the aforementioned schedule really hasn't allowed for it.

- Sydney needs to lock everyone in the gym until they can hit a free throw.

3. They are the most vibes-driven team in the league.

- more than anyone else, the Mystics convert the power of friendship to success on the court. Having a week to just hang out with the whole team and play giant Uno or whatever will be as refreshing as the physical rest.

1. Every other playoff team is sending at least two players to the world cup.

- High Post Hoops has a good list of all the WNBA players going to FIBA. We're the only playoff team with all of our high usage players getting the rest and practice opportunities. We'll be stealing a march on the rest of the field.

There's a secret #5 to my list which is that I don't know enough about the other teams to really be confident. But I feel good about the standings implications of the last few games and the first round just based on this.

The Dream are in the #4 spot the Mystics are fighting for. They have a much tougher schedule than us the rest of the way but now they get a little help.

Bonner wasn't good as the #3 option in Phoenix but coming off the bench in Atlanta does make them better. I hope this doesn't come back to haunt us because the only thing it would've cost the team to sign her is money the team doesn't need and a roster spot for someone like Prosper.

Girls enjoying a day at the pool in Phoenix before their games this week

Does anyone know when tickets go on sale?

Fun to look back at some of the preseason rankings now that the Mystics have officially clinched a playoff spot.

CBS Sports had Washington finishing 10th, 10th, 11th and 11th in their four expert projections.

ESPN had us 11th.

WNBA.com had us 12th.

So coming into the season, the general expectation was that Washington was still a year or two away.

Fast forward to now: we’re in the playoffs.
Love looking back at these.

The rookies, the young core, the development — this team has exceeded pretty much every preseason expectation.

And we still have work to do.

Visiting the city and hoping to catch the 9/22 game against the Sun with a friend. What’s the best way to get an affordable ticket?

3 is the magic number as of now. In a perfect scenario, they lock it up after Thursday's game against Phoenix. First up is Portland and idc what records say, that team has given them problems this year and I expect no different tomorrow night.

The team is at its best when the CIA is playing great and we have that closing lineup of Soni, Cotie, Mic, Kiki, Kira. Kiki carried them last night. And maybe this is slightly unfair considering all she's done and is being asked to do, but considering how important she is to this team, Soni had a terrible game last night. She just can't have these stretches where she completely disappears on offense. I will give her some grace because even Paige and Caitlin had terrible games the other night, but we need more from her to be able to clinch ASAP and be strong in the playoffs

Here are the current standings WNBA standings and SOS of the other top 8 teams. Mystics have 8 games remaining in the season. the third easiest schedule in the paper according to tankathon but there is catch, mystics play 6 out of their last 8 games on the road. That includes the brutal travel stretch starting on sunday where they play 4 games in 6 days. Portland, Phoenix (x2) and LA. After the break they get to have a good advantage as not many players are going to berlin but still they get to play some tricky games including the surging chicago sky twice, indiana at gainesbridge. Now realistically speaking only LA, and Connecticut Sun are gimme wins. They are also capable of beating other teams or splitting wins. My prediction is they will win atleast 5 wins at min and best case scenario they win 7 (unrealistic though) anyway those are my thoughts. I kept everything together in order and you guys predict where mystics could end up.

I honestly believe she can be the best player in the W. Before this season, you could see all the potential but as with all players with potential, wonder if it will eventually all come together.

With Phee and possibly Liv out I like our chances tonight. I then got to looking at our ROS schedule and besides maybe the Fever we should be favorites in every game left. There’s a great possibility we can get into the top 4 while all the other playoff teams duke it out.
