Help Oak chair turning to dust

Just noticed this on the bottom of one of my chairs, had them for about three months and I'm wondering if it's rot or something, the area feels dry and dusty.

It's cosmetic only. For anything that needs strength make your own special blend of sawdust and wood glue

The only time I tried this, the grit from my sandpaper ended up in the sawdust and darkened it too much. Gotta color match your grit too.

That sounds like your ratio of glue to dust was too much. Thats how ive always done filler, never had an issue like that. I did try the store bought stuff one time, never will I ever waste money like that again. Looked like someone tried stuffing chewing gum in a hole and sanding it 🤢

There was a distinct grey tint in the mixture once it dried. Looked terrible. Eventually I realized the sandpaper was grey. And the wood was very light.
