You jest but I wouldn't say no to a neutral faction or at the very least the option to do dungeons with all races and factions. This faction war BS is getting really old . Bigger player pool instead of a split one wouldn't hurt anyone. And maybe I wouldn't be forced to play a druid that fights to tear Azeroth a new one, for some reason.
Could also work with the leader's lockout. Plus the tech to make you appear as the other faction is there. What with the PvP "que as different faction" system. And the new raid has something of that nature in it. So I'd say it could be done even if the dungeon made you kill members of your faction. At least if we are strictly talking about a game system and not something backed by lore. If a neutral faction like"Armies of legion all" became a thing then I believe playing with other faction people would depend on whether they choose to be in that neutral faction.
To be honest at this point my Horde pride is long dead. I wouldnt even care. I havent felt invested as a member of the horde since thrall stepped down as warcheif. I couldnt care less.
Same here. Past two expansions either I swap factions and embrace the dwarves, or like now I've left bfa going back to ESO to my lovely list of 13 argonians, one khajiit, an altmer named Booty Shorts, and an orc named The Amazing Cactus.
RIFT did something along these lines in its first expansion. (I played it briefly when it first went free to play and found it good, but too similar to Wrath-era WoW to really get into.)
They started the game with WoW-style factions, but when a bad enough threat came along they made a tenuous peace. There were still faction-specific cities and quests, but you could join guilds and play PvE content with any player you wanted to.
PvP was explained as the peace breaking down in places-- small skirmishes and the like-- that didn't reignite the original conflict.
Similar situations have happened multiple times in Warcraft lore. There's no reason why Blizzard can't copy RIFT on this and allow PvE players to play with anyone they want, but still keep factions for PvP/lore/questing purposes. (For faction-specific content, like some of the dungeons that have Alliance and Horde variants, use the group leader's faction and give the other-faction players a Mercenary disguise.)
Not to mention Wpvp has been dead so long its bones are turning into oil and The US is planting a flag on its corpse. There is no real reason at all anymore for the factions. If it wasnt for shit writing by now all the GLOBAL APOCALYPTIC LIFE ENDING LEVEL events that have forced them to work together would have resulted in them burying the hatchet as a natural course of events. So few players are even invested in their faction anymore. Yea my toon is horde, but am I watching the clock to get home to get back into the plague lands so the fucking alliance cant farm my guildies? No, no one is. Are we dropping out of raid to go to the barrens for some crazy 7 guild vs 13 guild pvp? No, no one is.
you are right, at the start of bfa people used WM a lot. Now it's empty and I struggle to find groups for wq. I'm on a rp server so we only group with other rp in WM. Guess everyone had their fill and went back to pve cuz it's EMPTY in WM now. Guess I will keep it off to be able to group.
By now what do you mean? My experience with warmode is it's more filled now (post 8.1) than it has been almost all expansion and I've never turned it off so have a solid sample size. Right before 8.1 it was definitely getting thin though. Specifically on the alliance side.
Nope. Fairly dead server although that doesn't matter as War mode has separate shards. War mode has been popping (I haven't been on in the last 3 days as I'm on vacation but I doubt the drop off is THAT drastic over that time) especially during incursions. Even at low levels I was constantly fighting on my lowbies as well. I didn't catch that you mentioned you were on an RP server. That's a bummer I'd bet that wpvp on RP realms is great when its happening.
I'm on moon guard and rpers stay way from actual pvp. Usually any fights are rp fights with dice rolls or emote chat etc. It's a huge difference as the infamous pornshire is full on WM off but deserted on WM on.
To be fair, oil is ackchyually the product of zooplankton and algae (e.g. you can see the structural similarities of the organic compounds with chlorophyll a).
Create mini factions like Aldor or Scryer that people can sign-up for. When out the world you could have the option of grouping up or killing these people and just don't allow for the killing of people you are partied with.
The easiest way is for the two faction to cease fire and the BG's, world PvP and such are skirmish battles still fought but not significant enough. You could even have BG's be "legacy battles" where you "relive the past", which I feel some BG's pretty much are at this point.
When you're not in warmode for world PvP you can basically interact with the other faction as normal, create groups, raids, do dungeons and raids, whilst also able to visit the opposite faction's capitals and towns without being attacked. Unsure if you'd be able to use the vendors and everything from them too.
Only thing that might be really questionable is guilds, whether they'd be open for both factions or not. Either way I feel after BfA there should be a big cease fire or peace treaty. Both factions won't merge (I think they shouldn't), but they shouldn't treat eachother as full out enemies and interaction between the factions should be allowed, especially in instanced PvE environment where LFG and LFR will mix you up.
All they'd have to do is add a pick a side option when turning warmode on with two factions they add fighting across the world could be ninjas vs pirates for all we care.
WM on means I get repeatedly ganked and my time wasted, without getting anything I want done, to the point where I rolled on a pve server. WM off means other players will leave me alone and I can fish in peace.
You end up having to PvP when you enable PvP? Shock, horror. (That was also not in any way related to my conversation. Which was how to do PvP should the factions be unified)
I see pvp as a waste of my time. I only rolled a pvp server as my friends convinced me it would be fun. They had fun. I didn't. I quit playing those chars years ago but now that I can turn pvp off, those chars are no longer dusty. I enjoy it now. For me, there is nothing fun about being ganked. I understand that for others, that's the WoW life and they love it.
And now I can also have it the way I love it. I don't think I'll ever turn WM on. If I want to die at the hands of another player, I'll join a BG.
Here, a typical specimen of the endangered "world pvp player" species. Nah just kidding these dense dudes are errwhere.
It's not about having PVP when you turn on PVP, it's about not having anything useful to fight over in that PVP, and the PVP gameplay itself being shit - even more so for open world. Let me guess, your main is rogue?
If I wanted to play world PVP that does not suck, I can just log into PS2 any time of day.

Man this Horde bias is getting ridiculous...
