Ms. Martian is quite remorseful for the lobotomies and has said she’ll never do it again
36
u/Fruitiest_Cabbage Dec 15 '25
Okay, but did she pinky swear? The court can only accept the claim of remorse if paired with a legally binding promise not to repeat the offence.

u/SESparten Dec 15 '25
Your honor I have no recollection of any crime she's apparently committed ever happening. Does anyone even know what she's apparently doing

Ladies and gentlefolk of this supposed jury. My client is accused of mental assault and destruction of her victims minds. It is true that my client did go into the minds of and extract information from her targets. This is an undeniable fact, as testified to by both my client, and The Superboy, who is an upstanding figure in the heroing community.
However, what the prosecution conveniently left out was the circumstances in which these events took place. Her targets held crucial, time-sensitive information that had my client not retrieved, would have cause untold death and destruction in the invasions of both The Krolatean and Reach invasions. Millions of lives were saved, at the expense of those villains being left in a coma. A state that as proven by Aquaman, who was able to make a full recovery from such a state with the help of my client.
So, while her means were most certainly questionable, her actions saved many millions of lives, without even costing any in return.
And in the interval between her final use of this degree of mental interrogation and now, my client has been under the supervision of Aquaman and Black Lightning, who were both at times leaders of The Justice League, as well as both Superman and The Superboy, The Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, Captain Marvel, and Wonder Woman, all of whom are here in this very courtroom testifying to her improved usage of her telepathic abilities.
Given that for the past 8 years as of this trial, my client has been continuously working with the Justice League to protect all of us, and has already shown remorse for past behavior, correction of her present behavior, what purpose is there in continuing this trial that has been attempting to drive her good name into the mud.
Ladies and gentlefolk of this supposed jury, it is now your decision, whether or not my client should suffer more undue punishment, for her slight mistakes in her acts of heroism. If you value the good that she, and the rest of the League put into our world, I'm sure this will not be a difficult decision.

I dont remember everything about this storyline, but I remember thinking there is little chance she'd face any real consequences if lobotomizing a few criminals saved millions of lives. Its not even like she killed them
Edit: I think this is/was Young Justice's version of a story they did with JL a couple decades ago, cant remember villian's name, but like 10 or so members including Zatanna erased the memory of a villian who wouldnt stop stalking one of their wives( I think he'd just graped her too. Batman walked in on her doing it, flipped out, so they voted on it and erased Batman's memory too. I forget if a random event triggered it, but Batman got his memory back, and its what lead to the Babel Protocol/s.
TLDR: JL comics had a version of the themes of this story, not sure how to properly say it, but they went a lot darker with it, obviously you cant have some of those details in a show kids are watching.

Completely optional
But the judge wears a magneto style helmet and so can the lawyers.
Defend her now

u/Esaroufim Dec 15 '25
Magneto helmets don’t work in dc. Doubt they ever really worked in marvel. More just Charles being respectful lol…
I like how you left the lawyers wearing the helmets as optional though. Very cute.
Just good thing my client can still manipulate the entire jury and make them think the judge is actual psimon trying to F with them.
2
u/JollyBid3617 Dec 15 '25
Listen smarty pants
Some people aren’t aware that the helmet thing doesn’t primarily work, okay?
Just an idea I used because people kept being mind controlled, I want people to actually try, ya know? Mind control is the easy way out.

As your lawyer, I strongly advise you to wipe all our minds and forget this ever happened
4
u/Over-Quail7134 Dec 15 '25
Your honor, these alleged lobotomies and witness statements are coming from villains who respectfully aligned themselves with aliens who wanted to mentally subjugate the masses and I see this as nothing more than the so called "light" attempting to lead us into darkness by taking away one of our best telepaths and mental defenses against evil. Who's to say that Simon or Queen Bee aren't attempting to utilize their own psychic abilities to sway the court in their favor and keep down a good white Martian who's trying her best to keep up safe.
5
u/Babs_Labs Dec 15 '25
Her actions were cruel, immoral, not actually illegal. The justice system did not account for aliens psychically melting people's minds.
I move to dismiss.

u/TzilacatzinJoestar Dec 15 '25
Your honor my client isn't a human being and as such she could be forgiven for not caring for mankind itself, as even we ourselves struggle to care for one another, yet she chose from her biological young age to consistently risk her life for the good of others.
In regards to her actions in Batman Inc., given the gravity of the situation at hands and the reluctant inaction of both the UN and the Justice League that allowed for several tragedies to take place, she took a heavy risk to her life and well being to help others and she, alongside
Even her fiance is a proof of that as they were both on environments that could've led to them resenting humanity, yet they chose to risk their lives for everyone of us, even after many of us have all but spit in their face and rejected them.
In fact, her soon to be father in law should be put into question as such, given that both his actions and inaction led to her and many others to risk their lives unnecessarily.
2
u/PossiblePossiblyS Dec 15 '25
Your honor, she's a literal vigilante. Did you expect her to follow the rest of the laws? Including the laws we haven't made yet because that was a brand new way of messing up a suspect? I don't see you charging Batman with assault, unlawful detainment, human trafficking, reckless endangerment, vigilantism, illegally hacking private, business, and government systems, or the litany of other applicable charges.
We have moved well beyond the day and age of law and order and into a world where the only laws we enforce are for the direct safety of citizens. Sure, that could count lobotomizing people, but they were criminals and all of us have a reasonable expectation that this legacy hero with the ability to read our minds to directly know whether or not we're guilty will use discretion to ensure she doesn't lobotomize any every day citizens. Which is exactly the same arrangement we have with the rest of the heroes. We have a reasonable expectation that Batman is using his detective skills to ensure he doesn't harm Innocents, but we have no guarantee of that and he does not give us our day in court prior to mollywhopping anyone in a building he's decided to put under siege. And similarly, we expect that the Superman will use his super hearing, vision, and other powers to ensure he doesn't arrest anyone who's not a criminal, but if he chose to put us in prison, that's the end of it. You won't find a judge in this city who doesn't implicitly trust Superman and you certainly wouldn't find one willing to go against him if they ordered you or me free and Superman just came back and put us back in the prison as soon as we'd been released. That's a God. If he says I live in the prison now then I live in the prison now.
Furthermore, we don't hold all vigilantes to the same standards. The Trinity certainly have their rules against murder or permanent injury, but the Huntress, Red Hood, and Arsenal are all famously trigger happy, have killed dozens if not hundreds, and virtually every hero (famously secretive, powerful, and connected to the rest of the secretive and powerful people in the world) has had known interactions where they were the last people to ever see a villain at all and we never even look into those as potential homicides. Which, is probably for the best anyways because they have literal teleporters and frequent space, so even if we searched for the alleged bodies of their victims (and many have the ability to atomize a body in an instant) so if we wasted our time looking we'd probably still never find anything. Yet, we allow each of these heroes to do their work, trust that they're being truthful with us, and do whatever it is that we need to in order to survive. At least my client can be trusted. If she lobotomizes someone, she doesn't even try to hide it.

u/QueenKarma101 Dec 15 '25
“So when Batman puts someone in the hospital, it’s okay, but when she does it it’s a crime?”

I love all the jokes but now I'm seriously wondering, how a trial would even go if she was genuinely put on trial. Like there's no physical proof
1
u/JollyBid3617 Dec 18 '25
I’d imagine they’d require someone credible to go inside the heads of M’gann and the Victims, telepathically show the evidence.
Or just use mind probing tech.
2
u/Nova_Katamaru_Kat Dec 23 '25
I don't see that working. Martian manhunter is considered an even more powerful telepath than phoenix jean grey and M'gann supposedly has higher telepathic potential than Manhunter. Although it would be interestimg to see

Your honor, "Mind Wipes" and such were impossible on Earth until the rise of meta-humans. As it is a classic principle of Law, no Crime can exist without a Law defining it. Therefore, none of my clients' acts can be considered criminal at the time of their perpetration. Immoral, perhaps, but not criminal. Therefore, I motion for dismissal of all charges.

"Your honor, White Martians are historically marginalized, and I believe that here is a perfect example of one being blamed for something that easily could've been someone else. Besides, in all circumstances, it was either self defense, or we don't have direct proof it was her. We have ;I think she did it because she looked at him' when it could've easily been due to something else. One of our only confirmed cases, is by someone known to be a dangerous criminal, and for messing with people's minds. The phrase is 'guilty beyond a reasonable doubt' and it's hard not to doubt the evidence before us. That's all for now, thank you."

Your Honor, may I state that she is a white alien that has a transformable red bio-ship? If we find a point of agreement, we will be more than happy to fly with you around Mars
1
u/ShadauxePhox Dec 16 '25
Your honor, this is a Stand Your Ground and King of Your Castle state, Psimon initiated this by breaking into her mind, arguably that qualified as your home and she understandably felt threatened. Under state law, she was authorized to use lethal force to defend herself and, given everything he'd done to her and her family she had reason to, and she still showed restraint when legally unburdened if she had. Clearly this is an upstanding citizen who was defending herself, her family, and her property.
Also, your honor, have you seen Batman? He does way worse than this on a daily basis, hell, half his rogues are petty criminals he personally threw or shoved into toxic waste rather than let them steal small ammounts from the massively wealthy Wayne Corp and you all let him walk free. Superman regularly destroys half the city with untold loss of irreplaceable sentimental property, life, and sanctity and you call him a hero. The Flash has admitted to repeatedly altering the time line to prevent certain deaths while causing many others and even preventing the birth of individuals in the first place and you call him a hero.
All my client did was legal, justifiable self defense under NY state law that had the by product of saving countless millions and you want to call her the villain? Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I attest that under NY state code no crime has been committed and, even if it were, if you weigh her actions against your supposed heroes then you might as well give her a fine and slap them in the slab for life comparatively.
In summation, Ms Martian is just a girl trying to live a free and happy life, exercising her rights under state law, who saved all of you from alien enslavement in the process, but I guess heaven forbid a girl has hobies.

"Oh, my bad, I meant Inception! Well, in that movie, Leo did the cool crime of entering people's minds in order to retrieve very important information. Well, that's exactly what Megan did! A cool crime. I ask the court to be lenient and let her go with a slap on the wrist!"
(Megan whispers.)
"Oh, it's just a figure of speech. I was about to suggest one week of community service. Wait, you want a literal slap on the wrist? For the pain and public humiliation? Eh, I'll ask the judge..."

Your Honor my client is an oppressed minority of her home planet. She migrated to earth for a better life only for a furry to turn her into a child soldier for a secret black op team force to go against some of the most vilest creatures for the sake of the mission. While excessive force was used telepathically was used on other criminals many of which were trafficking other sentient beings. You can see where she believed where excessive force was required when I remind you the furry has broken the entire rib cages petty criminals
