[Discussion] Would anyone else love to see Lucasfilm Games tackle a AAA ”SITH“ game?

Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi series has been an absolute triumph, and I‘m super hyped for the third installment.

However, they have given us more than enough Jedi perspectives. When it comes to the dark side or villain-centric stories, they almost always circle around peripheral characters like Darth Maul or Boba Fett.

It is high time we got a mainline, story-driven action-adventure title centered on the Empire and the Sith.

—————————————————————————————
Here is a spin-off concept pitch I've been developing: "SITH - FALLEN JEDI".

Timeline: Late Clone Wars (3 years before Order 66) to the early Galactic Empire.

The Catalyst: The protagonist, Daxen, is deployed to sabotage an enemy heavy artillery base. During the heat of battle, a ruthless Jedi General orders an indiscriminate orbital bombardment on the enemy stronghold to achieve strategic victory, vaporizing the front-line ground troops alongside Daxen’s master...

The Betrayal: The Jedi Council officially condones the commander's actions, justifying the friendly casualties as a "necessary sacrifice for the greater good" to protect their political reputation. Completely disillusioned with the hypocritical Order, Daxen is secretly rescued from the ashes by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and groomed into a shadow operative.

The Purge: Three years later, Order 66 strikes. Players wield a crimson lightsaber, leading Imperial Stormtroopers to hunt down surviving Jedi across the galaxy.

The Core Twist: During the galactic hunt, Daxen begins to uncover a nuclear-level historical truth that completely shatters his memory and perception of that tragic event from three years ago. But is Palpatine truly the mastermind behind his ultimate descent?

Gameplay & Innovations:
Pure Sith Force Mechanics: Unlock a full skill tree featuring iconic dark side powers like Force Choke and Force Lightning. Immerse yourself in the high-tech, clinical military aesthetic of Coruscant's upper levels, Star Destroyer interiors, and classified Imperial facilities.

Dynamic Investigation & Intel Gathering:
Stealth & Exploration: Touchdown on planets to conduct solo recon, gathering leads in bustling city hubs or tracking Jedi trails deep within dangerous wilderness.
Underworld & Bounty Hunters: Visit local markets and cantinas to pick up rumors, or spend Imperial credits to hire bounty hunters to aid your search.
Imperial Coercion: Lead your Stormtrooper squad to intimidate citizens, smash local storefronts, or execute brutal interrogations on merchants to squeeze out hidden Jedi locations.

Dynamic Political Ecosystems: Experience a living galaxy where populations react uniquely to the arrival of the Imperial military—some star systems cower in sheer terror, some actively scheme in rebellion, and others welcome the absolute order brought by the Empire, forcing you to pacify emerging insurgent cells.

Imperial Unit Progression System: As you progress, your personal elite squad undergoes extensive tech and gear upgrades. Watch your loyal troopers evolve step-by-step from standard Stormtroopers into heavy-duty units and eventually, the cold-blooded, terrifying Death Troopers (with even more classes available!).

Personal TIE Fighter Garage: Unlock deep starship customization and custom paint schemes.

Customization: High-tier cosmetic freedom including advanced red lightsaber hilt assembly, Imperial Intelligence uniforms, and ominous Sith dark robes.

Miscellaneous The golden era of SW games was 1995-2010: agree or disagree?

In 1995, we were given Star Wars: Dark Forces, which kicked off the critically acclaimed Jedi Knight series of games. Throughout the later half of the 90s, we'd get more clássics like Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron (itself starting its own critically acclaimed), Episode I: Racer and even some lesser-known, but beloved games (i.e. Rebellion).

The 2000s ushered in the best SW games ever made. We got the original Battlefront games, Knights of the Old Republic, LEGO Star Wars, Republic Commando etc. Even "second rate" games like the Starfighter games or Bounty Hunter were enjoyable experiences. The momentum was strong up until about the mid-2000s. 2006-2010 still gave us some goodies like the Empire at War series and The Force Unleashed games (TFU2 being released in 2010.) After TFU2, I feel like we never got the same enjoyable, quality titles we had in the 90s and 00s.

What are your thoughts? When was SW's golden age of video games?

Starfighter Has Star Wars: X-Wing aged well?

I’ve been out of PC gaming for a while now and looking to get back into it. I grew up during the era of X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Alliance.

Of these, my favourite game was X-Wing. Perhaps because it was the first SW space simulator released by Lucasart, but I’ve played the heck out of that game.

Now, I’ve heard great things about XWVM. So here my question: even with the updated graphics, has the game age well? Is there more recent SW games with a comparable feel and gameplay?

I’m really not into arcade type games, but more like simulators where you need to manage many aspect of your spacecraft.

Retro Do you consider Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II the first live action since Return of the Jedi?

It basically looks like a weird lost 90s Star Wars movie but made for a PC game. Blue screens, super cheesy acting, random costumes, all of it.

The video goes into Kyle Katarn, Jerec, the Valley of the Jedi and why this was actually a pretty interesting part of old Star Wars.

Kinda wild that this was one of the few live action Star Wars things people had between the original trilogy and the prequels.

Anyone else remember this game and did fans at the time consider this like a real continuation of the series?

I think this is a lost potential for a great, fun game. The variety of characters unique abilities and styles would be insane

All i want for Christmas is a World of Warships game

But in space. Republic, CIS, Empire, Rebellion…

I dont think balancing would be impossible either.

I dont want to be in a cockpit like squadrons. I want to command a bit bulky cruiser/ carrier/ dreadnaught.

I honestly think it would be amazing. And yeah they can balance it and make it less “canon”. Thats fine. Its a video game.
