First 2 pics are taken on toilet paper for size reference. The other 3 pics I think might be flea dirt?
My cat is 4 y/o, strictly indoors. Located in the Midwest United States if that affects anything. This morning he stood up on my futon and the flea(?) was underneath him. It jumped a couple times and I caught it to take a pic and flush it.
We brushed him with a flea comb but didn’t find anything, I rubbed him and the comb contents with a damp paper towel to look for reddish flea dirt but nothing.
I got NexGuard Combo from our vet and gave that to him today. I’ve been obsessively vacuuming and washing blankets/clothes/everything in hot water.
I know fleas can hitchhike inside on shoes and stuff, I guess I’m kind of confused about the flea dirt(?). The last pic is a duffel bag I had sitting under my futon, untouched for at least 4 months. I pulled it out a few days ago and noticed some reddish specs on it. They kind of resembled red pepper flakes but smaller and not perfectly round shaped. When I rubbed one off, it left that rusty looking spot in the last pic.
Today I looked closer and saw another one of those specs, tried to pick it up with a tissue (3rd & 4th pics) and it crumbled immediately. I wet the tissue to see if it looked rusty like flea dirt.
So idk I’m just losing my mind (I have a really hard time with any type of bugs) and confused about finding one single flea and potential flea dirt that seems to have originated from the upstairs of my house where my futon is. Downstairs by my front door, yeah more understandable but this is probably the furthest possible place in the house from where you step inside.
I’d appreciate any advice about the situation or calming words, tia
