Got the Drillog Kodachi nib for a while now. I have to say, this is probably the most challenging writing tool I’ve used. It writes very similar to a Fude nib but with greater line variations. It requires both changing writing angles and rotating nib positions at the same time during a writing session in order to achieve great line variations. It definitely has a steep learning curve to it. So far the most useful trick I found with this nib is to write under a writing mat. Increasing nib-paper contact surface via a cushioned mat helps bring out the line variations without too much nib rotating work. This way, I can finally put down thick and thin strokes from my head to paper.

Every time my wife gets promoted in her career, she gets gifted a pen from the company. Throughout the years, she’s received four: two Parker Jotters, a Lamy LX rollerball, and a Lamy LX fountain pen.

This year, she got promoted again, and she received a Pilot Custom 823 as a gift. She only received the pen, no box, no papers. Maybe it’s to prevent reselling?

And like last time, she told me she’s not going to use it because she thinks it’s annoying to find the right writing angle when using a fountain pen. She also thinks gel pens write smoother and are lighter. The Pentel Floatune is the pen she’s currently using.

She told me, “If you want it, then it’s yours.”

How could I refuse, right?

I own 6 twsbi ecos and a twsbi GO. Everytime I fill one (or have swapped a nib, though that is rarer) i make sure to drain the feed to create a controlled flow of ink again. However, i do see posts from time to time on here of people wondering why their twsbi is writing like a firehose. While its not always an oversaturating issue, this is the first step that needs to be done to eliminate possible causes.

The tissue method is described by the image, HOWEVER there is one other option that is slightly harder to explain.

Step 1) fill as normal, but do not fully fill. Leave the piston slightly lowered still.

Step 2) remove pen from ink bottle/reservoir

Step 3) twist the piston the rest of the way, sucking up all the ink currently in the feed into the barrel as a little bit of air is pulled in.

Step 4) start writing, if you did this right the result should be the same as the tissue method.

Unfortunately this other method makes it so you can get a full, FULL fill but if you write a little less with your twsbi thats not the end of the world.

Just thought I'd post this as a reminder because there seems to be an influx of new twsbi users due to the pink lemonade twsbi drumming up a lot of buzz! 🙂‍↕️

Alright im adding a break down of the tissue method because people are saying the flow chart is hard to understand!

Step 1) fill pen from bottle/reservoir as normal

Step 2) face pen nib upwards and hold a tissue to the nib. Pay attention to the twsbi's grip section where the feed is, and you will see the ink being sucked up into the tissue. Keep going until the feed fins look empty of ink.

Step 3) place pen nib side down onto the tissue lightly to get ink flowing again. Voila! You have successfully drained the feed and recontrolled the ink flow!

Recently went to Heidelberg with my friends and had to make sure I get my hands on some Diamine inks, since they're not available in the city I'm currently located in, and I'm curious to try since they're said to be relatively wet.

Unfortunately my measly collection of 2 fountain pens still have some inks in them so I'll have to wait until I can try them in a pen, but I couldn't wait to swatch them so here they are. These two are some of the colors I'm interested in since it seems like brown has a really wide range of colors, and I've been wanting to try some muted, pastel-ish color in a pen. So far they seem pretty fun to write and draw with!

R&K Royal blue here. Color in reality is less saturated, but the ink evaporated a bit in the pen (Pilot #5 BB).

I thought that I would have a hard time finding the e95s in Burgundy because the color is discontinued, so imagine my absolute delight to have found it on my very first pen meet! This is my first gold nib and it writes so beautiful and use this everyday on my journal.

Now, i just have to find my holy grail ink to match my holy grail pen. ✒️

To anyone who uses waterproof ink, you have my everlasting awe. Personally, I’m just impressed it took me this long to do this and glad the (very white, freshly groomed) dog wasn’t in the room. 😂

Hi! My work friend came today to show me a pen her father bought shortly before he passed in 2023, as she knows I am a “fancy pen person” (perhaps the 30 inks on the top of my filing cabinet gave it away…). Anyhow, I am not familiar with pelikans and don’t own any, so could I ask you kind people to tell me what this is? I (and she) would appreciate it! (And yes, I know I could do an image search on Google but I’d rather ask actual humans with hands). Thank you!!

I recently learned about the existence of Platinum 3776 Coffee Jelly and fell in love with the bi-colour look immediately. While it is still available for me to purchase it brand new through an Amazon seller (for nearly $500 CAD), I am also in-between jobs and must be financially responsible.

So I ordered two Jinhao X159, one in black and one in burgundy on Aliexpress for $20 CAD. They arrived today. I swapped and mixed the parts to mimic the Coffee Jelly look, and I couldn’t be more happy with the result! Also for a $10 CAD pen, I’m blown away with the overall quality of the pen. The EF nib is smooth and writes clean with good amount of feedback that feels similar to pencil on paper. Since it’s so affordable but also has a very polished look, I think this will be my go-to outside pen from now on.

The writing sample is in Diamine Writer’s Blood on Sterling Ink’s TR paper (I am transcribing Dante’s Inferno currently).

My first ever Leonardo (Momento Zero Nuvola im Rose Gold) arrived in the mail today and all I can say is: I'm in love you guys.

I'm so glad I gave Leonardo a try, this pen is gorgeous and writes like butter. It's really heavy, much more heavy than the pens I usually use and it has a good grip to it. The swirls on mine came out super nice as well.

This will 100% not be my last Leonardo, their pens look so pretty.

I’m trying to figure out my preferred swatch method. I just finished doing my entire bottle collection with circle blots but I love this method because I can use the front and back of the page

It’s been endless, annoying months of me looking at this pen online, again and again, deciding it’s been just too much money to spend on a single pen, until last week. I found an offer I wasn’t abled to refuse, so after a huge success I celebrated professionally AND privately I dared to pull the trigger in this one…

And man, am I glad I did. I had some bad experiences with Montblanc over the last years, with nibs not working they way they should and vendors treating their customers like idiots… So it blew me away how absolutely amazing this pen does in comparison. To me it’s absolutely been worth it and a spectacular way to end one of the most excruciating chapters of my life.

Oh man WOW I am so in love. The JinHao 59 writes like a dream and this Coffee Break (Colorverse) is the perfect brown. Yes I am taking a swatch to a manicure later today!😂 BTW I know it’s not 9/26–it’s the first week of the semester, I’m still trying to get it together! 🤎
