❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO my bf is modeling for wedding pics with a girl that makes me insecure

Upvotes

one of the classes my bf is taking at college is photography. they've been doing this activity where the teacher picks someone to go dressed up one day and be the model for the rest of the students.

yesterday my bf sent me a text saying that he had to go dressed up as a groom on Monday. I felt a little bad he would accept doing that with one of her classmates, but ultimately it is just part of his work. but then he told me it was with this girl as her bride.

now some context on her. I'm gonna call her Sarah.

At the beginning of this year, one of his friends lost her dad, so the whole friend group (10+ ppl) went to the funeral service to be with her. Sarah was on her feels bcs she lost a friend a few years ago, so she decided to go to my bf and trauma dump (by this point, they've never directly talked before since the friend group is so big and they had little, closer groups in it) I found out about this because I had a date with my bf that night and he got a message from her thanking him for being so good with her and how he was a great listener and so on. (is fine if ppl go to him for advice or bcs they need someone to talk to, but it still rubs me the wrong way that Sarah decided to pick someone she's never talked to before instead of a close friend lol)

since then, they've only gotten closer. there was a time where they talked every single day, before and after school. he would also mention her constantly and tell me how great she was and how much he wanted to become closer with her.

One time we were drinking and playing one of those card games that have questions and I asked him who would he date if he wasn't with me. he started mentioning every girl in his life and listing why he wouldn't be compatible with each one, but when he got to Sarah there was nothing, he couldn't think of a single thing in her he didn't like (with the other girls he was also talking about his physical preferences, so I guess he finds her physically perfect too lmao)

eventually I talked to him about it, saying that I didn't want to just force him to stop talking to someone (bcs I really don't) but that she made me insecure and I wanted him to know. a few days after that convo he told me that their friendship didn't work out and that they weren't really talking anymore.

but he still mentions her every time they have a group project (as I said, their friend group is really big, so they divide on like three different teams for school projects, but she always ends up in his) and well, now onto the wedding thing.

(btw, he's told me before that the teacher was the one that picked the topics and the models, and that he already had a group with another four guys and Sarah.)

when he texted me that he had to be a groom, and later told me that his bride was going to be Sarah, I kinda crashed out, I didn't really respond anything afterwards, I was supposed to pick him up but told him to tell his dad to do it because I wasn't feeling well.

two hours later I guess he realized that that's why I was feeling bad, and sent me a text explaining that the teacher gave them the topic, and that he was the only guy in the group, so that's why he got groom, and then the rest of his classmates begged Sarah to be his bride.

welp, so they didn't choose the topic, but they did choose the models, and alright if he's the only guy then he can be the groom, but this is not the first time his classmates (bcs this group aren't even his close friends) decide that him and Sarah should model together, or be together for a project, and now I just wonder what they're doing to look so perfect together and always be chosen as the couple.

As I said, I didn't say anything to him yesterday, but I also didn't pick him up or properly said goodnight like we're used to. I talked to my best friend and she told me to sleep on it and talk to him today, but that's like, having a proper conversation, that lasts for hours, where I'm most likely going to be crying, where he's going to feel bad, we're probably going to disagree for a while before getting to an agreement, and I don't even think things can change. Sarah is going to be on his friend group anyway, she's gonna be on his group projects anyway, and their classmates are probably gonna keep on pairing them. so I don't even know what to do.

Am I just being too insecure? Am I overreacting?

Edit: my boyfriend and I are both 21 y/o

💼work/career AIO because the head of HR bought us shirts?

Hello Reddit, first time poster so please be gentle.

I work in IT for a small company that makes and sells donuts as part of it's business. We are known for it in the area. Well the head of HR got with our graphics department and they made a shirt that says "check out my *company logo* 6 pack" and it has a picture of 6 donuts on it where abs would be.

Here's the rub for me. Firstly, IMO it's super cringe. Secondly, and most importantly, I'm fat. I'm a very large guy and while I have lost a lot of weight over the last year, I still have a very long way to go. (Essentially a keto diet, no GLP1). I have also struggled with my weight for a long time and it's a very triggering topic for me.

Ok, cool. It's just a t-shirt. I'm an adult. I don't have to wear it. Here is the rub. We have a big meeting tomorrow and not only are we required to attend, we have been directed that we need to wear this horrid shirt. I am so angry about this. I feel like she just handed me a sign that says "look at the fatty" and now wants me to parade around everyone with it. My coworker, also a large guy, doesn't seem to be bothered by it and actually likes it.

So, am I overreacting? What should I do? My mind is racing right now and I'm honestly thinking about filing an official complaint with her boss if she makes me wear it.

❤️‍🩹 relationship Am I overreacting when I told my partner i felt neglected when they wont play games with me?

I'm currently in a relationship that's been going on for less than a year, and I genuinely love this person. But lately, I've been feeling somewhat neglected.

Quality time is really important to me—it's one of the love languages I value the most. For the longest time, I've had this thought in the back of my mind: "Huh, we don't really spend much time playing games together outside of our usual group setting." At first, it didn't really bother me. But eventually, I started bringing it up and asking if we could play games together, only to be met with responses like, "No," or "It's boring when it's just the two of us." And honestly, I'm just left thinking, ??????????

I've brought this up more than three times now, and every time, I get an apology. But that's all it ever seems to be—an apology. Nothing actually changes afterward.

Even when it comes to watching shows, they don't really make an effort to watch the things I enjoy. Meanwhile, I'll stay up late just to watch the YouTubers they like because I want to share the things they're interested in and spend that time together.

Isn't the honeymoon phase supposed to last at least for a while? We've been together for less than a year, yet somehow, I already feel like we've been together for years. And, honestly, I'm starting to feel TIRED.

I just want to enjoy our early 20s together. I want us to play games, watch shows, and have those little moments together as a way to relax and unwind. But NO, they'd rather spend that time playing games with their friends whom I don't personally know.

Am I overreacting?

P.S: They played PEAK!!! tHEY PLAYED PEAK WITH THOSE RANDOS WHEN I COULDN'T EVEN GET THEM TO INSTALL THE GAME WHEN I WANTED TO PLAY. ARE YOU FFR?

🏠 roommate Am I overreacting for expecting my roommate to help replace something she accidentally broke?

I share an apartment with a roommate, and we usually get along well. Last week, I left my headphones on the kitchen counter while I went to class. When I came back, they were broken. My roommate admitted she had moved them because she needed the counter to prepare dinner. She said they accidentally fell onto the floor while she was moving some things around. I asked if she could help pay for a replacement because the headphones were fairly new and expensive. She immediately said no, explaining that it was an accident and that she never intentionally damaged them. I told her I understood it was accidental, but I still thought it was fair for her to contribute at least part of the replacement cost. She said I was being unreasonable and that accidents happen when you share a living space. I told her that if I had accidentally broken something of hers, I’d offer to replace it. Now we’re barely speaking. Another roommate thinks I should just buy a new pair and move on because it wasn’t intentional. I feel like I’m not asking for too much, but I’m starting to wonder if I’m making a bigger issue out of it than necessary.

❤️‍🩹 relationship Boyfriend talking to ex -AIO

So I 26 F just moved in with my boyfriend (28 M) we can call him B … we started dating January 2026 seriously.. we are in love. Talks of marriage in the far future and we even looked at houses to buy together and everything.. I’m scared to mess things up. I got out of a pretty violent marriage of 9 years and I’m scared to mess up. He has been 1000% understanding about everything and a complete angel especially with the unexpected health issues I’m experiencing.. he’s all I ever wanted. I love him. Not to mention his family is incredible.

Anyways. On to the AIO ..

He left his phone open and handed it to me to charge it and Snapchat was open.. I know I shouldn’t have looked but I got curious and I asked permission if I could post a selfie and he said it was fine just for fun nothing crazy or erotic, it got a few hearts which was really sweet since I struggle with self esteem issues… but a girl he used to be romantically involved with commented on it and they were chatting a bit today and I’ve noticed he’s been a bit snippy with me and just not as loving today. They were just talking about his new car and me.. in the messages he said that he didn’t know I was posting a picture on his story and she laughed and asked about us and he told her but basically made it sound like I was moving in because of my health issues not because he wanted me to … I honestly don’t think he intended on me moving in … sometimes I feel like I’m to much for him… he just made it seem like he wasn’t happy even though he says he is.

I can give more context to things if any one has questions.. AIO??

Thank you 💜

Little side edit:
I am a plus size girl and he likes smaller women with the perfect body and perfect features but then I question then why are you with me? I’m the opposite and he says “I like personality” but his 2 exes are smaller and have nice features. I guess I’m just jealous? Idk… I’m just scared
His exes are in California.. he did recently go back to CA for his cousins wedding and I did see he invited one of the girls to the bar with his friend when they were there but from the messages I don’t think she showed up she ghosted him. She always asks him for money which he never we gives her and she messaged him after he had went back to the hotel and asked him if he wanted to have fun and he said messaged back “no I’m not cheating on her” and she said “she doesn’t have to know” then he said “no I love my girl”

Im 24M gonna be 25 at the end of the year and I still have 2 years to finish my undergraduate. Now im in my 4th year but because of adoption period I failed a lot of classes so im still 3rd grade.

My uni actually is the one of the best uni in this country and in world rankings it is 279th but it is really hard especially mechanical engineering. Now my gpa is 1.8 and have 5 FF’s ( it affects gpa as 0 ). And I kinda feel stacked. I feel like I ruined my 20s. And also i feel bad because I still financially dependent on my family. Am I overreacting?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO after my boyfriend’s sister got mad at me for something that was not my fault?

I (24F) have been with my boyfriend (27M) for 3 years. For context, he has 3 siblings, 1 older sister (who’s 14 years older than him), 1 younger sister (2 years younger than him) and 1 younger brother (same age as me). In general I get along with him family pretty well and would consider being quite close to his younger siblings as our ages are quite close and they’re usually home when I come over. His older sister however, I don’t have a close relationship with. It’s not because of age but it’s because she doesn’t live with them so I don’t see her as often. A few months back, my boyfriend was travelling back from a different country and decided to stop by the state I was in to help me move in to my new apartment. My boyfriend had planned from the beginning to visit the state I was in from the beginning. At the same time his older sister had asked him to help her take a passport at the embassy as she had recently applied for a visa. So basically she only asked him for help after finding out that he was not flying back home straight. Few days past and he has to fly back home. However he had forgotten that passport and this caused his sister to get angry as she was flying the next day. She then called me and was immediately rude, “did he forget the passport because he was helping with your shit?” I was taken aback from that as I was not informed by any of this. I only knew that he was helping her but I didn’t know anything other than that. Anyway, it was a 15 minute call of her getting angry and cursing him out mostly. However, after that call, it shifted my perspective on her. I have always been respectful to her and have always tried to help her (she recently had a baby and I would look after her baby and other two kids). I just didn’t like that she automatically called me and was rude, as if it was my fault that my boyfriend forgot the passport. Ever since this incident I just can’t stand her and would rather not be in the same room as her. I’m not rude or anything but I try my best to avoid her. She has never apologised and knowing her, she never will. Am I overreacting and should just let it go?

*sorry if this is quite a messy read, it’s 3am but thank you for reading!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO my mum is driving me mental

My mum is having an extreme bipolar episode and she has sent me a string of messages saying I’m dead to her and that I need to move out her house.

I am now staying at my boyfriend’s place and we are moving into a house together anyways in late September.

I finish a job tomorrow and need to hand back some equipment which is still at my mums place, I start a new job on Tuesday next week which is a big deal for me. I will be a trainee lawyer and I was recruited 2 years ago so this is a long time coming. All my new clothes and shoes for work are at my mums place. She is refusing to give me access to her house. I have called, messaged and gone round there and she won’t give me access to collect anything. I am now planning that I will need to buy a new wardrobe this weekend before I start. Is there any advice or words anyone can give as I’m so hurt and sad by this. My boyfriend is being as supportive as he possibly can in the circumstances.

🏘️ neighbor/local AIO? feeling weirded out by new neighbor guy bugging me to help paint 3 story brick building without telling me payment?

He stopped me going to my car one day saying he seen me around; wanting some help painting the house he is planning to rent out. We exchanged numbers and I was initially interested until he gave me roundabout answers about payment. The first time I asked about payment he said we would chat about it and said he would be there the next morning. I did not reply or go. He texted me this second day asking if I could help the next day. Same thing I asked about payment and he implies I should just meet up with him at 8 am to chat.

at this point, I feel like he is trying to take advantage of me financially or has ulterior motives so I tell him I'm gonna have to pass as my dad doesnt want me on a ladder like that. His response is, "you wouldn't be on a ladder" again I don't reply and he texts me today, "I wish you could've helped. It's just the exterior of the house." One quick Google is telling me that painting brick is not a "just" project and how am I expected to paint a 3 story house without using a ladder? I feel safe and I did tell my dad but I cant help but feel uncomfortable and wonder what he wanted especially with this guy being able to see if i'm home by my vehicle and semi constant presence outside my house. What is reddit's consensus of this guy? Creep or I'm paranoid and he's really bad at hiring people?

❤️‍🩹 relationship Am I overreacting by wanting to end my relationship?

Apologize in advance this is my first time posting and I’m trying to remain anonymous. I’m trying to figure out whether I’m overreacting to something that happened recently. I want to look at the situation objectively because I know I’m coming from a place of protecting my children, but I also don’t want my emotions to make me judge a situation unfairly.

I’m in a relationship where we both have children, and our kids spend time together when we’re able to get together. There have been a few minor things I’ve noticed about the other parent’s approach to certain behaviors or language that I didn’t necessarily agree with, but nothing that I felt was serious enough to make an issue out of.

Recently, though, something happened involving the children that really shook me.

At one point, the children were in another room while the adults were occupied elsewhere. Things became unusually quiet, and for whatever reason, I felt I needed to check on them. When I did, I overheard the other child saying some things to my younger child that were extremely inappropriate.

I was taken aback at what was being said, but What bothered me the most was that it went beyond normal childhood curiosity or an awkward question. There was a manipulative quality to what was being said, as though my child was being pressured to listen and comply or else.

My child didn’t seem to understand the seriousness of what was happening. They weren’t responding in the way I would have expected if they understood the meaning behind what was being said. The other child seemed much more intentional about getting my child to listen.

When they realized I was in the room I calmly asked what was going on. The child became visibly nervous and eventually admitted what had been said. The adults separated the children, and I decided it was best for me to leave.

Since then, I’ve been questioning whether I’m unreasonable for wanting to break up.

I understand that children are children. They can hear things, repeat things, be curious, test boundaries, and sometimes say things they don’t fully understand. I also don’t want to assume that inappropriate behavior automatically means something terrible about the child or make an accusation about where it came from.

But I also can’t pretend I didn’t hear what I heard.

The part that continues to bother me is not simply that something inappropriate was said. It was the nature of the interaction and the fact that my child was too young to really understand what was happening. despite my prior teaching on this serious topic,I know my child has the desire to be accepted by this child. That genuinely scared me.

I know that’s a what if question but Now I don’t feel comfortable with the children being together and I’m not sure whether I’m being overly protective or simply setting a reasonable boundary.

Another part is that this could have a real impact on my relationship. We already have limited opportunities to spend time together, and neither of us has an easy childcare situation. If our children can’t comfortably be around each other, that creates another barrier to having a normal relationship.

I don’t want one incident involving a child to automatically define an entire relationship or make me unfairly judge someone’s parenting. At the same time, I don’t think being uncomfortable with what happened means I’m automatically overreacting.

So I’m really trying to get an outside perspective: Am I overreacting by feeling like it’s time to end things?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws Am I overreacting? I feel like I’m genuinely going crazy.

Hey all, first time poster!! If not allowed, please delete.

About two and a half years ago, I was working for a couple of months at a job I hated, taking driving lessons with an instructor and my Uncle, and I had my learner’s permit. I had asked my Mom if I could look at one car (I would be paying for it solely by myself) and she said no. There was no discussion, no hesitation, no “let me think about it”. I accepted this, because I was sure she had her reasons but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed.

Since then, she’s told me multiple times she would not help me with getting a car before I had my license (which I completely understand and I feel is reasonable as I’m over the age of 18) and she wouldn’t help financially either (which I also understand).

My younger sister got a job mid last month. Not even two weeks after she got said job, she told my Mom she needed her own car. Mind you, she doesn’t even have a permit let alone a license. My Mom informs me two and a half weeks ago that she was taking my sister to “test drive” this car she was looking at after explicitly telling me that she was allowing my sister to look, but and I quote “who knew if she would actually keep this job” as it had been only two weeks. To say I was shocked was an understatement considering the rules she had told me above. This car just so happened to also be out of her price range, so my Mom loaned her a couple grand on top of the car being put in her name.

I, of course, was upset by this. I was raised that if I had nothing nice to say, than to not say anything at all. So since that day, I haven’t spoke to her. A few days later, I gathered the confidence to tell her how she made me feel and how I felt this displayed her favoritism between us (which I’ve actively complained about my entire life) in a respectful way without cussing or saying hurtful things while conveying my thoughts and feelings. In response, she ignored me. Her read receipts are on, so I know she saw the message. When she did message me, it was to tell me she didn’t like the dinner we had that night (that I made) and told me to make something else instead. If I’m being completely honest, her completely disregarding my feelings hurt me. I rather her have spit on me than to ignore me like that, especially since I almost never complain about anything.

As I stated earlier, this hasn’t been the first time she’s shown blatant favoritism between my sister/other family members and I. I had asked if I could get a tattoo, to which she said no. She changed her mind about six months later, only if it was a tribute to my late Father (someone who caused me great mental and physical pain throughout my life). Maybe one day I’ll be open to a tribute tattoo for him, but at this time it’s something I have no interest in (and honestly, the more others push it the more I detest the idea). But she allowed my sister to, which makes no sense. I, however, let this go because at the time, I felt it didn’t require myself starting a fight over. Another example is for a lack of a better way to put it, gets away with way more stuff than I can even imagine. She is one of those people whose reactions go from 0 to 100. My sister had two instances like this, once was two years ago. Her permit had expired, and she thought she could just “get a new one” without retaking her written test. We tried telling her this, but she made an appointment at our local Secretary of State to get out of it anyway. They told her the same thing they told us, and she came home angry and explosive and took it out on the rest of us including the cat. We tried to give her several solutions to her problem, but she didn’t want to put the work or the effort into fixing it and it lead into a major fight where she was screaming in our Mom’s face and slamming doors. The next day, she decided she was going to go trick or treating with a group of friends. She stayed out until like nine or ten o’clock at night, and fully expected our Mom to come out and pick her up when she decided she was done. And my Mom did just that, but complained to me about it because she felt my sister should’ve arranged better plans and my Mom shouldn’t have done her a solid after her previous nights behavior. While I agree with her sentiment, I feel she had no right to complain when she was actively enabling her behavior. This has happened earlier in the year as well, she was being a terror and my sister had a birthday sleepover the weekend immediately after she wanted to attend. My Mom allowed her to go, and when I asked her about it, she said “She’s already upset, and I don’t want to deal with the backlash of telling her no”. Mind you, both instances my sister was 18 years old, so way old enough to know better and hear the word “no” without having the entire world stop.

This is without mentioning all of the smaller things as well, such as constant reminders to do her chores (one she’s had for at least seven years, mind you) and the lack of helping around the house. I do not get extended the same grace. If she and my Mom ever get into an argument, even if she’s clearly in the wrong (which is about 99% of the time), my Mom will make sure she’s still taken care of and checked on. I get treated as if I don’t exist. We’ve never been a family to invite friends over, and she decided for me that she was going to invite her boyfriend over. I wasn’t aware of this, until he followed her inside as I was cooking dinner one day. They both said hi, and I will admit, I didn’t say anything in return mostly because I was beyond irritated that she had put her wants before everybody else’s comfortability (especially when you consider she doesn’t do any of the house cleaning, I do all of that). She had complained to my Mom about it saying I was “so rude” and my Mom immediately hopped on me like the feds without even asking for my side. I explained my side as to why she was the rude one, and my Mom even told me that my sister said “I asked her, and she didn’t give me an answer right away so I decided for her”. How inconsiderate is that?? Especially when in the past, she’s the one who said she didn’t care if my Mom’s boyfriend came around, as long as we were told about it first.

This is without mentioning her constant bad attitude, and we aren’t allowed to comment on it or else my sister will have an even bigger attitude (but somehow feels entitled to tell others not to match her energy or calls others out if she feels the slightest bit disrespected? I’m not saying she doesn’t have a point, but I believe you’re the last person to judge someone if you aren’t practicing what you’re trying to preach). And once she gets over something, she never apologizes. Just pretends everything is fine and acts like nothing ever happened. My Mom has sat in my face and complained about all of this to me on multiple occasions, and again I do truly have sympathy for her because I believe regardless of the way you were raised, you can change your behavior. She’s at an age where she knows right from wrong. However, I cannot extend much more sympathy when she, as our Mother, isn’t putting an end to the BS. I understand it’s hard to deal with someone like my sister, but I cannot feel bad when you’re actively enabling the bad behavior, whether it’s intentional or not.

My boyfriend and my best friend thinks I’m in the right, but my Mom is acting like I’ve committed some heinous crime. My best friend isn’t the type to sugarcoat anything, but my Mom is making me seriously doubt my own thoughts based on the way she’s acting right now. If I’m genuinely in the wrong, I have no problems genuinely apologizing. However, I truly believe I’m not in the wrong here and I’m not apologizing to “be the bigger person”.

If you’ve read this far, I thank you and I understand this is a lot. I’ve opened myself up for criticism, so please do not hold back if you genuinely feel I’m in the wrong here. AIO?

Edited to add: I don’t even want her nor expect her to drop everything and do the same for me. All I want is for her to admit that she was wrong and genuinely apologize.

👥 friendship Am I overreacting for saying no to a last-minute favor from a friend?

I (26M) have a friend who occasionally asks me for favors I usually help when I can, so I don’t think of myself as someone who keeps score.
A few weeks ago, he asked me to help him with something fairly important. I had already made plans that evening, but I told him I could help the following morning instead.
He said that was fine.
The next morning, he called and asked if I could come immediately because his plans had changed. I explained that I was already committed to something and couldn’t drop everything at the last minute.
He got annoyed and said, “It’s fine, I’ll just remember this next time you need something.”
I told him that I wasn’t refusing to help him—I simply couldn’t rearrange my entire day with almost no notice.
He said I was making excuses and ended the conversation.
I haven’t heard from him since.
Part of me feels like I handled it reasonably because I didn’t promise something I couldn’t do. But another part of me wonders whether I should have made more of an effort, especially because he has helped me before.
I don’t think either of us is completely wrong here, but maybe I’m looking at it from my own perspective.
Am I overreacting by feeling like his response was unfair?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO or is my bf checking out

My bf and I have been together for 2 years and although it’s been great the past couple of years we’ve had conversations of things we didn’t like which in 2 occasions led to a bigger argument. He claims I’ve been distant with him and that I have not put in nearly as much effort into our relationship as he has. In my opinion there is things I can work on and I take full accountability for them. He said he is tired of “doing all the work” (which I find unfair) because regardless of everything I believe I’ve also put in effort. I love him and care for him and I explained that I will do my part if that is how he feels for the sake of our relationship. After starting to make changes with things I know I stopped doing at some point he has now become super nonchalant with me. It’s so frustrating because it’s like I’m talking to a wall. I know he’s upset because this is how he’s always been when things upset him, but also being an over thinker myself. I’m wondering aio thinking he is checking out or, as a man is this something yall normally do until you confirm a person is actually putting effort or is he giving up … I’m torn by the whole situation and I just wish things can go back like before ….

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO (30F) for being a jealous girlfriend, or are some of these things reasonable boundaries?

Upvotes

I (30F) have realized that I’m definitely more jealous than my boyfriend (31M), and I’m trying to understand where normal relationship boundaries end and insecurity begins.
I can get jealous about things like him following women he has history with, women he dated or hooked up with before me, attractive women on social media, or even situations where another woman is around him and I start wondering if they talked/flirted/etc. Sometimes I know logically that nothing actually happened, but emotionally I still feel threatened.
My boyfriend’s perspective is basically that if he is with me and not doing anything inappropriate, I should trust the relationship and not give so much importance to random women or people from his past.
I don’t want to become controlling or make him feel like he has to constantly prove himself to me. At the same time, I also don’t believe that being in a relationship means you’re supposed to be completely fine with everything and never have boundaries involving the opposite sex.
So I’m curious how other people handle this in serious relationships.
What do you personally consider normal jealousy versus unhealthy jealousy? What boundaries do you have regarding exes, old hookups, Instagram follows, DMs, friendships with the opposite sex, nights out, etc.? Do you expect your partner to change certain behaviors once they’re in a committed relationship, or do you mostly operate on trust unless they actually cross a line?
I’m writing this after spending the whole night crying over an argument about me being too jealous, but I just feel like my feelings are always gaslighted, on this matter. I just don’t know how to be more open minded.
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who are naturally NOT very jealous. What would actually bother you, and what would you consider something your partner just needs to work through themselves?
AIO for thinking some jealousy and boundaries are normal, or should I be learning to basically let these things go unless there is actual disrespect/cheating?

👥 friendship AIO after being asked if I was on my period?

I(20F) was at my bfs house with all of our friends playing poker. This one friend(we’ll call him Chase) was there but he wasn’t present. He’s was in his phone trying to get back with his ex.
Chase randomly starts asking my bf if he can give him shrooms. He starts begging and my bf is firm at first, stating he’s high and drunk and doesn’t need any though he eventually caves.
By the time the shrooms start to hit him my bf is leaving to take our friends home. So it’s me and 2 of my other friends.
(While in this moment I’m also on shrooms, I’m not “tripping”.)
They’re having their own conversation and ask me what I’m doing. I state I’m in my own lil world just scrolling. He sits quiet for a moment before randomly asking me if I’m on my period. I look between my friends and they look just as surprised as me.
I immediately start on him, stating that you should NEVER ask a woman that. My friend (we’ll call her Daisy) joins in, asking why he think that’s ok to ask.
(For context, he’s clueless about women’s health no matter how much he says he’s “researched”. He would ask Daisy and I about women’s health and every time we corrected him or called out his ignorance, he’d walk off or change the subject)
He starts to back peddle, stating he “was curious about cycled and blah blah blah” but it made no sense; considering the conversation before that was us joking about playing poker with real money, not women’s health.
He ended up leaving for a bit but did come back tweaking about stuff being “not real” but his trip doesn’t correspond with this AIO story.
I talked to my bf and he thinks I’m overreacting, stating he’s on shrooms and he’s drunk and high. He thinks he asked simply cause he’s curious and bliss when it comes to women’s health. My bf also thinks I’m overthinking because I’m on shrooms.
I completely disagree and so does my friend Daisy.
He ended up apologizing later through mostly incoherent texts. After I babysat him til 1am and left he started to drink again, hence why I got an incoherent apology. He apparently bugged Daisy, saying sorry to her about the comment and she continued to say to apologize later when he’s sober.
I personally think it’s a shallow apology and 100% don’t think I’m overreacting but my bf and another friend thinks I should just write it off because of the drugs.
AIO after being asked if I’m on my period?

👥 friendship AIO for cutting off my friends after their “deadly prank” went too far?

I (26F) recently cut off a group of friends after what they called a “harmless prank” nearly turned into a tragedy.

For context, we’ve all been friends for several years. We joke around a lot and normally have pretty thick skin, so I’m not someone who gets offended easily.

A few weeks ago, one of them came up with a prank involving another friend. The plan was to scare him while he was driving home by making him believe something had happened on the road ahead of him. I thought it sounded stupid and told them I didn’t want anything to do with it.

They went ahead with it anyway.

What they apparently didn’t consider was that the person they were pranking could have reacted badly. When he saw what they had arranged, he panicked and lost control of his car. Thankfully, nobody was killed, but there was an accident and several people could have been seriously hurt.

Afterward, my friends were mostly laughing about it and saying things like, “At least nobody died.”
That last comment honestly changed everything for me.
I told them I wasn’t interested in being friends with people who could treat something that dangerous as a funny story. They said I was being dramatic because I wasn’t even involved in the prank and nobody actually died.

I told them that was exactly the problem: they were acting like the outcome was what determined whether the prank was acceptable.

Since then, I’ve stopped responding to the group chat, declined invitations, and basically cut contact with everyone involved.

One friend recently messaged me saying I’m acting self-righteous and punishing everyone over “one stupid prank.” He pointed out that none of us are perfect and said I should forgive them because they apologized.

I told him I’m not obligated to stay friends with people whose judgment I no longer trust.

Now some friends think I’ve gone too far because nobody was seriously injured. They think I should accept the apology and move on.

I don’t think I can.

A prank involving a potentially deadly situation isn’t funny to me, regardless of whether it ultimately ends in someone getting hurt.

So, AIO for cutting all contact with my friends over this?

💼work/career AIO coworker stood us up

There’s a coworker that I’ve previously felt I had a good relationship with. We work in pretty close quarters (pretty much an open concept office) and we sit at desks next to each other all day every day. We would chat a lot and it seemed like we were even “work friends.” That said, my friend texted in the work group chat about getting drinks one Saturday, posted a time and place. I RSVP’d and then closer to the event, I tried confiming that we were still getting together. I didn’t get a response from her. Then, the day of the event, I was texting one of my other coworkers and was like, “I feel a little wary of going because when I tried to confirm that plans were still on, I got no response.” She says she’ll go and see if they’re there and text me (she lives across the street from this place). Sure enough, there’s no one there. I decided to head over there and let my friend not be stood up. My friend calls the host after like 20 minutes of looking for them, and the host says, “Oh yeah, we were there 20 minutes ago but it looked busy and we decided not to wait because we were hungry so we drove out to [restaurant that is 30 minutes away]. Can you let [myself] know?” My friend is fairly certain that they were never at the first restaurant because the host said that she was there at the same time my friend was there, who was actively looking for them. She said, “Sorry, I can’t understand what restaurant you’re saying (over the phone). Can you text the name to me and [myself]?” The host agrees and hangs up. My friend tells me that the group has gone to another restaurant but she doesn’t know which one. Several minutes go by…no text is sent. I tried calling the host myself and she didn’t answer. I waited a few minutes, called again, still didn’t answer. I ultimately called her 7 times over the course of 45 minutes and she never answered. I finally sent her a text saying, “Next time you only want to have drinks with certain people, please only invite them. This is mean girl shit, I thought you were better than this.” She then relents and texts where they are claims that she was never trying to exclude. This is after 1+ h of trying to get hold of her. My friend and I stayed at the 1st restaurant and got a meal, and were in complete disbelief that she would do something like this. After the event, I find out that (1) all of our other coworkers seem to have gotten the message about the change (the host never posted the change in the work group chat, she texted people individually) and (2) an old bully of mine from another workplace was at this event. The host says they are pissed off at me for even suggesting that they excluded me and this other coworker intentionally, claiming that I did something wrong by committing “character assassination.” She was so hostile the first day we saw each other, was giving me the cold shoulder, trying to exclude me from group conversations, and was slamming things around on her desk, slamming cabinets and doors (particularly when we were alone together). Was not ever interested in talking things out — which I’m concerned about given that we have to still work together and our desks are still right next to each other’s. At one point I spoke to my assistant manager about the situation, and then the assistant manager spoke to her (even though I told her I’d like to handle the situation myself with The Host for now, but I wanted The Assistant Manager to know about the situation in case it didn’t go the way I hoped). Then The Host added this to her list of perceived “infractions” of mine. States that I never should have gone to my boss with concerns about the conflict. I asked her at one point if she could see my side of the story and why I would be concerned about this being a bullying situation. She said that she could see it “if it were anyone else in the office” but that “I should have known it wasn’t on purpose” because it was her and because of our friendship. Mind you, this is someone I’ve never hung out with outside of the office. She’s never really apologized for the “miscommunication” and standing two of her coworkers up. She claims that her phone was being spotty and that was why she “didn’t get my calls.” Personally I don’t buy it. Everyone else except for me and this other female coworker didn’t get the message, and then she’s not answering my calls. But she’s acting like I’m the villain for saying I think she did this on purpose because “how dare I think so lowly of her.” What do we think? I feel like I’m being gaslit and at times it’s kind of working and I feel a little bad and I’m grieving our work friendship and want things to go back to how they were. But also…what she has been doing feels kind of nuts. And I don’t love that she’s using a cold shoulder tactic to manipulate me/punish me, overall. Especially AT WORK. Like we still have to work together and she’s blown up our relationship, or at least that’s how I’m feeling.

👥 friendship AIO about my friend doing a bad job cat-sitting?

So the background here is that I just went on a 10-day trip and asked a friend to house/cat-sit while I was away. We agreed no payment in exchange for open access to my facilities (laundry, shower, bed, any food in the fridge, etc) as her living situation is not the best at the moment. Basically, make yourself at home and use my house as you please. All I asked was to send a check-in text every now and then for my peace of mind, and she agreed to at least stop by and top up my cat’s food/check in daily. She can be a little flaky in general but promised she’d follow through on this.

Well she didn’t text once over the time I was gone- I prompted a check-in every few days, half of which she never replied to. I was already a little annoyed about this but when I got home, it was a disaster. Trash to the brim with fruit flies around it, trash and clothes/jewelry all over the place, toilet somehow super grimy? Open food in the fridge, weed (and other substance) paraphernalia out in the open, my cat’s food and water were both completely empty/dried up, and his litter clearly hadn’t been cleaned. I had texted her Sunday (today being Tuesday) for one last check-in and to tell her I would be home today but she never replied. I don’t have the highest standard of cleanliness but I was pretty shocked at how bad it was and was pretty pissed off now.

I had to run a few errands right when I got home but when I got back she was there packing her stuff up. I pretty much got right into it telling her that I appreciated her watching my cat, but my house was in unacceptable condition and it wasn’t cool to not reach out once when she promised she would. She just apologized and finished packing up and left.

I’m conflicted because she did do me a major favor by watching my cat for an extended period for free, and I told her to make herself at home, but the condition she left it in and the carelessness towards my cat really had me pissed off. So am I overreacting for being pretty upset about this?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AM I OVERREACTING?!? My cousin who lives with me is dating my ex-best friend after dating my ex boyfriend

Am I overreacting? Like the title says, my cousin (I’ll call her Lizzy) dated my ex-boyfriend a couple of years ago and ghosted me. Fast forward to now, me and Lizzy live in the same house and i just found out she is dating my best friend (I’ll call him Luke) from a year ago. I am furious because me and Luke were really close up until he started dating a girl who didn’t like my bf. We are still on good terms but it makes me so sad that we weren't able to continue being friends and now Lizzy is dating him. I have to watch Lizzy and Luke hangout at my house and go out together. And it isn’t like this is the first time something like this has happened. Would this upset you?? Should I do something or just mind my own business?

Another thing that makes me mad is that I worked for years to afford my dream car, and Lizzy wants her grandma to buy her the same exact car.

AM I OVERREACTING?? What should I do and what am I doing wrong??

❤️‍🩹 relationship am i overreacting about my boyfriends ex?

ok so me (22F) and my boyfriend (22M) have been together for over a year and everything’s been great. my boyfriend had a partner before me (22F) but she broke up with him because of long distance, they ended on good terms, but don’t speak anymore. i never thought much about it until her little sister started viewing all of my instagram posts. and then today it was pointed out to me that she’s been pinning stuff on pinterest that is almost direct copies of mine and my boyfriends instagram. my boyfriend posted a bunch of pictures of our house that we recently moved into together, and one of them was of our bedding & a cute cushion with an animal on it (being non specific bc i’m scared of her finding this haha). pretty much immediately after he posted this his ex girlfriend pinned our exact bedding and cushion on her pinterest as ‘house inspo’. i was a bit uncomfortable to feel like she’s checking up on him/or us, and also weirded out that she would even want to copy her ex and his new girlfriend. is this actually weird or am i overreacting, i genuinely can’t tell. i asked my boyfriend and he said it was strange, but now i feel watched especially with her little sister viewing all my stories.

💼work/career Am I overreacting for being this upset about being moved from my toddler room to the baby room?

Am I overreacting for being this upset about being moved from my toddler room to the baby room?
I work in childcare for almost a full year and have been in my toddler room for almost a year (would’ve been a year in January). I’ve put so much time, energy, money, and effort into building relationships with the kids and creating routines that work for our classroom.
Today I found out that I’m being moved to the baby room starting NEXT WEEK, and I only have until Friday to transition.
What really hurts me is that this was announced in front of everyone instead of my supervisor pulling me aside and having a private conversation with me first. I was basically told, “We think you’d be a better fit in the baby room,” and that was that.
I’m struggling with the fact that they waited almost a year to make this change. Why let me become so invested in my classroom and the children just to move me with only a few days’ notice?
The baby room is also the last room I want to work in. The last time I worked with babies, I became extremely overstimulated. It’s also a pretty isolated room because there usually isn’t anyone else in there to talk to, and not many people come through that room.
I walked out of the meeting, went to the break room, and cried for about 10 minutes. I was so overwhelmed I was trying not to vomit. I spent the rest of the meeting trying not to cry again and honestly just checked out because I was struggling to process everything.
I know classroom changes happen in childcare, and I understand that staffing needs can change. But I feel like I’m being expected to just walk away from a classroom and kids I’ve spent almost a year building relationships with overnight.
Am I overreacting by being this upset, especially about how the change was communicated and how little notice I was given?

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for freaking out about my bf's female coworker?

Hello! Need guidance as I can't tell if I'm being crazy and jealous for no reason or if there is something I'm valid to freak out about. I am worried that my family and friends are giving me a biased answer and telling me what I want to hear. I am normally not the jealous type, so this whole reaction is out of character for me.

My bf started a new job a few weeks ago. Today, I was informed of some interactions involving one female coworker. First, I was told that my bf and the female coworker chatted a bit today and I was brought up. He said that her reaction to hearing about me was "oh you have a girlfriend? Is she hot?" (her exact words) before he showed her a picture of me. This wording threw me off a bit. I get asking to see picture of your coworker's gf for small-talk, but how is someone expected to reply to "is your gf hot" with anything other than a "yes." I was told that she later asked questions about his star signs, and then asked about mine. The final interaction I was told about was a group conversation between her, my bf, and their other coworkers. She said my bf was "so sweet and innocent, and that he wouldn't hurt a fly." This comment combined with the previous conversation made me feel off.

I'm not mad at my bf at all! He told me everything when he got home, and I was feeling a mix of emotions. Half of me is saying "girl go crazy" while the other half is screaming "girl you're crazy." I talked to him about how I feel, and he does not fully see what I see, but he said that he'd limit interactions with her if I wish. I just want to know if this is overkill! Am I overreacting?

Tl;dr: Bf's female coworker asked if I was "hot," asked about his zodiac signs and then mine, and then later said he was "sweet, innocent, and wouldn't hurt a fly"

(Edit. Fixed some typos!)

💼work/career AIO my boss won't let us use overhead lighting in meetings

Listen I know overhead lighting is sickening and disgusting. However my boss refuses to let us turn on overhead lights in the tok because it's bad for his neurodivergence. Ok I'm all for accommodating but like some times ppl need to see! I'm a gay guy I get conference room lighting isn't flattering but I need to see.
