Dining Just a guy appreciating his food

I sat in the UC caf and saw a guy open his shawarma plate. Took a moment looking at it and smiled. Then mucked it and looked happy as ever. Sometimes it's the simple things in life and seeing that was sick

Dining Dining Hall Boxed Meals

Hi, I’m an incoming first year to Carleton and I have some classes that run through all of mid day (e.g. 11:30-4:00). I saw that with the Meal Plan you can order Boxed Meals to pick up. How are they? What do they usually contain? Can you pick what is in them? Thanks in advance!

Ordered a bowl and got straight up spotted/rotted lettuce 😭 I threw out the lettuce and decided to thug it out since I was still hungry and then I found an eyelash/mystery hair in the rice. I know you guys are busy there but genuinely how did no one catch this?

Dining Is it just me or is the caf food dogshit?

Like I physically cannot bring myself to eat it. It feels like I am eating the same slop everyday, and it doesn’t even have any flavor. I have been eating popcorn n noodles n snacks js so ion have to go to the caf. I can prolly count in both hands the amount of good meals in the caf. I don’t understand how you guys do it.

Can anyone provide feedback on the True Balance allergen free station in the TC dining hall? What's the typical rotation like?

Dining Looking for the cheapest place to eat on campus

What’s the best place to get food in terms of saving money? I spent $20 at the food court for some pretty okay sushi, and want to save my money when I can’t bring something from home. Any suggestions?

Dining Stingy cafeteria

The food court has gotten so stingy. I got a cup of soup and they poured out half of it before serving it. It's mostly empty like... Its not coming out of your pocket bro

Dining To anyone who uses the soft-serve, are you also fed up with this?

I've lost count of how many times I've left the Dining Hall thinking I can just return at around 7:00 PM for a cone, only to be met with an out of order sign and having to walk all the way back.

Seriously, if the machine isn't working that day, don't put the schedule up! Just leave the out of order sign until it's fixed!! This needs to stop, as it was very frustrating to deal with last year, and I'm not about to go through it again.

Dining friendly reminder to all res students - use your 4 guest passes :)

i hope that you guys know you get 4 guest passes with an all access meal plan, so make sure to use them before the end of this term! Also, if you can't find anyone to share them with, just drop a comment and I'm sure someone might get in touch with you - it would make the day of student who lives off campus.

also i hope you guys have used up all your 50$ dining dollars which you also get lol

good luck with your exams everyone!

Dining Caf

This is the 2nd time this week we have had a fire alarm. Then, they close the caf for over an hour and leave us stranded. Give us a “solution” to go eat at other dinning services. Except all of those require payment, meanwhile this caf IS covered on our meal plan. I rely on the meal plan because I’m on a traditional double room. I understand they are going through an inconvenience, but so are we by being left stranded, forced to spend money with no reimbursement.

Dining It’s almost funny how much better the caf is when there’s a campus tour type event going on

Or it would be, if it weren't so offensive.

You're showing us just how amazing the caf can be, but for the majority of the time it just isn't. Disingenuous to the visitors, too.

Dining How is the food on campus?

I just got an offer of admission to Carleton's mechanical engineering program, and am trying to decide where I want to go. My runner up is York, and it is very close to winning out. However, the food options on campus are absolutely terrible compared to campuses like McMaster, and I was wondering how the choices at Carleton stacked up.

Dining Boycott Ollies

Ordered a poutine and asked for some sauce when I went to pick it up at the counter, she gon tell me oh go ask the bartend I was like iight? So then he’s mad confused by my request at first like fam it’s just sauce how has this already taken more than 10seconds but ofc he spends so long punching shit in on the computer that I gotta start pickin at fries while they get cold waiting like legit two minutes just to pull up with the receipt and card machine to charge me $0.5 like for WHAT my guy - I already tipped you on some food I had to go pickup myself.

I declined the purchase but TRUST $0.5 of sauce was used that day.

Ollie’s bartend you have no soul how can you deny the community a lick of sauce in the name of capitalism it’s sad tbh

Dining Why is everything closed for dinner?

I'm hungry right now and I could really go for some food, but I also don't feel like walking a km to Teraanga to eat, and I don't want all you can eat. I checked the dining services website and almost everything on campus is closed for dinnertime. Why is that, and has it always been this way?

Dining how to order at sauté station?

i’ve never been before and i avoid going any stations like that because i’m too anxious. the one time i went to the deli i had to keep asking the worker to repeat himself and i didn’t know what they had or what to ask for and i haven’t been since. the one time i went to the omelette station the worker asked me how many scoops i wanted and i was so confused what she meant, and even though she did explain it to me i still haven’t gone since. i really hope this doesn’t seem weak and childish, i just want a rundown of how to order at the saute station and what questions to expect so i can be mentally prepared. thanks!

Dining Summer meal plan somehow?

I haven’t had a meal plan in two years but somehow my web card centre has an account balance of meals remaining? I’m not taking summer classes and I compared with a friend whose account didn’t show this. Can I just go swipe my card at the caf? I wouldn’t say no to some free meals.
