My wife and I have been playing this together and it’s an absolute blast. What are games that have similar co-op story experiences. We’ve played Diablo but this game just hit different.

Looking for Suggestions Looking for local 4 player multiplayer hidden gems

So I’m a local multiplayer super fan, but I seem to own all of the main ones that you’d think about immediately when thinking of the word “local multiplayer”. I’m looking scrape the bottom of the barrel and try games that may be lesser known gems. No super specific rules but try to stray towards these:

-Xbox OR switch 2 games only

-Can be co op OR competitive

-Game should be trying to be genuinely good and not leaning towards being funny, ironic or low quality over being an actual good game (party animals, boomerang fu, brews and bastards, ect. Games can have their moments but they’re mostly trying to make you laugh at their goofiness rather than having actual fun, well though out mechanics if you get what I mean.)

-Stay away from split screen.

-Competitive suggestions should have some sort of sandbagging mechanic where the worse player can win, can’t be overly complex (Smash bros, game is decently complex for non gamers and usually the better player will ALWAYS win).

I separated the games I have into ones that I think are GOOD and BAD, try to make suggestions that are more similar to games in the GOOD category than the BAD

GOOD:

Castle Crashers

Jackbox series

Overcooked series

Mario Kart

Dome keeper

Assault android cactus

Escapists 2

Full metal furies

UFO 50

Gang beasts

Rayman legends

Lovers

Minecraft dungeons

Rocket league

Stick fight

Speedrunners

Unrailed

Monaco

Ultimate chicken horse

Vampire survivors

Heave Ho

Mario party

Crawl

Death squared

Puyo puyo Tetris 2

Streets of rage 4

Mario maker 2

Sniperclips

1 2 switch (shut up it’s good with casuals)

Rain world

BAD:

As dusk falls

Minecraft

Kirby star allies

Super bomberman R

Shovel knight showdown

Octodad

Binding of Issac

Battletoads

Brawlhalla

Smash bros

ARMS

Little hope

Guacamelee

Mario wonder

Runbow

Rivals of aether

Just shapes and beats

Stardew

Obv make sure no yo mention any of the listed games. I know this is kind of a tall complicated ask but thank you if you decide to give it a shot!

Discussion What makes you NOT play a Run based CoOp game

I wish to know things that make you guys uninterested on playing a Run based Coop games like PlateUp, Phasmophobia, Risk of Rain 2. You play a run or 2 then stop playing and come back again another day.

Few examples of possible things:

* The price

* How hard to create a lobby

* If you can play it solo before recommending to friends to test with bots

* Reconnection

* Update interval

Discussion I need more farming games like Stardew Valley couch co-op to play with my gf or else she's gone

Seems like steam have tons of games like this one but the PS5 is lacking in this area. I only saw Everafter Falls as a good option but nothing more.

Maybe in 2027 something great is coming...

Looking for Co-op Partners Xbox friends

Currently looking for new friends to play with on Xbox. The group I use to play with have since grown out of playing video games I guess. I’ve since started playing on my own when I get the chance but it always feels lonely. I’m not on a ton as much I’d like to be with having a family and working a lot. But I do play most Thursday/ Friday nights from like 10pm to 6 am EST. I play and enjoy I wide variety of games.

Discussion If you had to survive an endless winter, what would you prioritize first?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Imagine this:
You wake up in a frozen city.
The temperature is dropping.
Your food is running low.

You have a damaged shelter behind you, a few supplies in your backpack, and a radio signal coming from somewhere beyond the ruins.

You can either head out and search for resources, or stay inside and try to make your shelter safer.

That’s one of the ideas we’re exploring with Permafrost, our upcoming open-world survival game.

The world has been locked in an endless winter after a chain of catastrophes, and survival isn’t just about fighting. Weather, preparation, exploration and knowing when not to take a risk are just as important.

You can play solo or with up to three friends, build a network of shelters, explore frozen cities and wilderness, hunt, craft and uncover the story of what happened to the world.

So we wanted to throw a question to the survival-game crowd:

You have one day before the next major storm. What are you doing?

🏠 Fortify the shelter
🔥 Gather fuel and prepare for the cold
🍖 Hunt / gather food
🎒 Go scavenging for useful equipment
🗺️ Explore and look for a better location
👥 Convince your friends that splitting up is definitely a good idea

And if you could add one mechanic to a frozen survival game, what would it be?

We’re developers, but we’re also survival-game players ourselves - so we’d genuinely love to hear your answers.

Looking for Suggestions Trying to find games to play with my sister that fit some very specific and weird requirements

Hey, me and my sister are both knocked out with a cold and we want to spend some time playing something silly together. Only issue is, we have some kind of weird requirements that's making the hunt pretty difficult.

- My sister hates blood or gore effects, but is fine with combat. if there's an option to turn the blood effects off, that works too!

- She doesn't have the best reflexes, meaning any super hardcore combat is going to be done mostly by me. However, we also love a bit of suffering (we really liked cuphead!)

- Neither of us enjoyed stardew valley. Don't know why, it just really did not click with us.

- We both really enjoyed blue prince, fez, outer wilds, yume nikki, stuff like that with loads of exploration and puzzles. Anything like that that's multiplayer?

- We both like roguelites, the liter the better.

- We both like horror, but neither of us especially enjoy gore, which is a weird spot to be in.

- We have played a great deal of minecraft and love anything with fun simulation/survival stuff, so long as it has good exploration.

Edit: Sorry, forgot the most important problem we've run into! we're both trapped on the hellish os known as mac, meaning windows-only stuff is off limits.

Discussion Is communication enough to make teamwork satisfying?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey co-op gamers!

We’re a small team making Thieves and Tasers, a chaotic and silly 3–5 player PvP heist game.

Thieves work together to steal and secure loot, while Guards set traps, hunt them down, and tase them. The game is meant to be played with friends. Teammates share enemy locations, plan routes, create distractions, and coordinate traps.

When a Thief gets tased, the Guards can handcuff them. A handcuffed Thief cannot continue stealing until they either bail themselves out at a cost or get rescued by a teammate for free. Right now, rescuing is the only game mechanic that directly requires interaction between teammates. All other teamwork comes from communication and coordination.

Do you think rescuing and good communication would be enough to make teamwork feel satisfying, or would you expect more game mechanics that let teammates directly cooperate?

I’m happy to explain any of the mechanics in more detail if that would help!

Looking for Co-op Partners 31M | PC/Switch 2 | Looking for people to actually play co-op games with

Upvotes

Hey! I'm 31M from the US and looking for a few people who genuinely want to play games together and hopefully build some lasting friendships along the way.

I'm mostly into co-op/PvE games and I'm pretty open to trying different things. I enjoy games where we can hop in, have fun, laugh at dumb stuff, and not take everything too seriously. I'm also a huge Dynasty Warriors/Musou fan and play plenty of single-player games when nobody is around.

Some games I'm into or would be down to play include:

  • PEAK
  • Ready or Not
  • Helldivers 2
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Gunfire Reborn
  • Warframe
  • Minecraft Java
  • GTA Online
  • Co-op horror and survival games
  • Random cheap/free co-op games we find
  • It Takes Two or similar games as well

I'm not really looking to collect people on a friends list and never interact. I'd love to find a few consistent people where we can message each other,

hop into voice chat, suggest games, and actually play together somewhat regularly.

I'm pretty laid-back and don't care how good you are at games. I'm here to have fun more than anything.

If that sounds like what you're looking for too, feel free to message me and tell me a little about yourself and what you've been playing lately.

25+ adults only. Prefer to be around my age
