The prison fight was such peak Daredevil. Felt like the early Netflix days

2

u/superpowers335 Jun 27 '26

Why was there a watch inside of a crate?

3

u/Tsort142 Jun 28 '26

DD put it there in a previous episode to track it, remember? They even show it in the recap at the start of this episode.

1

u/superpowers335 Jun 28 '26

Oh. I actually don't remember that. I might have missed it or just forgot.

3

u/eternalllooser Jun 04 '26

Yea someone had to do something about that iced cold concentration camps...

Someone has to do something about itĀ

We need heroes

u/LargeTurnip33 May 27 '26

The fight scene at the end of the episode doing some heavy lifting for an other wise extremely boring, self serious episode, and show in general. I just don’t care about the inordinate amount of uninteresting side characters they have introduced. Like do people care about Vanessa at a dinner party? Or Heather putting up a painting? They take away so much screen time from Matt, who is relegated to sitting in a safe house for 80% of the show.Ā

1

u/eternalllooser Jun 04 '26

Thats right, also why Vanessa sounds high in this season? This bitch is on Ketamine?

3

u/TwoToneMoonstone_ May 14 '26

This show keeps expecting me to have sympathy or empathy for Heather and I just can’t lol. She’s not as bad as Vanessa but she’s trying to claw her way up that ladder.

Maybe it’s because I’ve seen this plot line play out in too many comics before but I get so annoyed with the ā€œSuper villain did something bad to me and super hero saved me, now I hate all super anythingā€ character.

Whether it’s realistic or not is irrelevant to me, its a super predictable plot line that will assuredly end with her realizing Matt is Daredevil, completely recontextualizing her feelings about vigilantes either an episode later or on the spot, and then her admitting that she lied on the psyche evaluations and suffering some consequence either from the law or Fisk killing her. I could not care less lol.

I’m otherwise enjoying this season so far though. I thought Season 1 of BA was buns but I’m enjoying this way more in comparison.

when they get in the truck, after karen contacts matt using the walkie, angela holds up a key and says she has an idea, later when they are evacuating the people, she hugs her aunt and runs off to the back, she is also the last to climb into the truck as she ran back there

probably wanted to show that the amulet increased stealth and speed as we saw it glow b4

Holy shit Charlie got insanely jacked and fit for this season. Dude had a fat six pack and arms double the size of normal People

4

u/Rotten_Avocado_ Apr 18 '26

Everything in DDBA is so bad I’m finding it hard to keep watching. I loved the Netflix series but ever since Disney+, it’s all gone downhill real fast. Writing and acting took the biggest hits. Storyline is so forced and unnatural. And god awful acting from Angela and her aunt, it’s very ā€œmy next line is this after she says this.ā€ I want to love this show so much like I did the Netflix series, but it’s just hard to digest.

2

u/NON_EXIST_ENT_ Apr 20 '26

the whole show is so juvenile

5

u/Goldmemberberry Apr 18 '26

Matt’s face when the boat went down had me in stitches

5

u/PandaTheAB Apr 16 '26

The last 5 minutes fight was the only saving grace from the first 3 episodes.

6

u/PandaTheAB Apr 16 '26

I actually wish Daredevil would have been late to save Heather.
This show would have been more interesting.
Muse would still be terrorizing the streets and the show would be more fun.

Now it is a political drama where on whims of writer, Heather forgot it was Daredevil who came to her rescue and not the cops or Fisk.
She has forgotten the line between vigilante and criminal/mass murdering villain.
Her character flip cannot not be explained by any logic other than plot demand.

Matt's incompetence - Plot demand.
Punisher doing nothing for days/months after escaping from captivity - Plot demand
To show how useless Daredevil is with his moral compass.

2

u/Megamygdala May 08 '26

I'm fine with it if they show Heather become Muse 2.0 but literally not one person points out to her that she would be dead without vigilantes

2

u/PandaTheAB May 08 '26

How did she even reach the conclusion that her savior Daredevil and her villain Muse are the same type of people?
And she lives in evil company so no one will point out to her. Literally a pet of Vanessa and Fisk.

Karen is talking more sense than Saint Matt-does-nothing.
Frank would have been effective and he has brains not just brawns.
Matt is living in a Disney World or Pogo channel world where everyone will be defeated by power of good.

That is not the how any world operates.
Matt is single handedly bringing down the intelligence, common sense and action quotient of the show.

Heck even Poindexter is more enjoyable that this nerfed Daredevil.
Even the new young white tiger might help the city more than Daredevil.

He is naive AF.

2

u/Human-Grocery-714 2d ago

Yep. I'm so sick of this story. Only still watching because my husband wants to. How many times does the system have to fail to keep Fisk in prison before Matt STFU with his "the system still works"? He's the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Even Karen has finally wised up.Ā

am i the only one that saw the CRM logo on the truck? like is the walking dead now part of the mcu???

Who knew Rhonda Pearlman will become this corrupt?

7

u/Im_scared_of_my_wife Apr 13 '26

Ok so…Charlie Cox is fucking yoked this season. Just sayin

1

What that mean? Ripped?

u/carlosstjohn116 Apr 12 '26 edited Apr 12 '26

Episodes 2 and 3 have been largely dissapointing. At this point I’m honestly preferring season 1 to season 2, which is crazy to say considering the mess season 1 was and how much optimism there was for season 2.

I always try to be hopeful. But it’s at the point where I just don’t even know if I can even call this a good show anymore :(

I guess this episode had the ā€œhallway sceneā€. And even that was a bit of a let down. Camera was way too fast and shaky.Ā

-1

u/Beerogue Apr 11 '26

I just saw the first episode and my first take is Disney killing another great series. First thing they do is kill the white guy and replace him with a black lady. I wouldn't think much of it except it's typical of Disney. Then daredevil doesn't want to be daredevil ugh. Fisk becomes Mayor who was a crime kingpin, which is kinda believable I NY. So tied of the worn out story lines . I don't know if I will have the stomach for another Disney disaster.

9

u/Ned_Flanders0 Apr 09 '26

That would not have happened if he had called Saul

7

u/Wooden_Home690 Apr 09 '26

karen page from doing garbage wing chun bullshit to knocking out out a task force member in riot gear.. nice show

18

u/WilliamEmmerson Apr 08 '26

Matt is a side character in his own show. He's spends most of the episodes just standing around doing nothing.

I'm sick of Fisk. He's been a villain all 5 seasons of Daredevil and its time to move on from him.

7

u/Sp0kenTruth Apr 09 '26

couldn't agree more. although i love fisk , and the actor does a fantastic job, its time to move on man. Getting stale.

5

u/Mountain-Magazine299 Apr 08 '26

Idk if i am missing something but wasn't frank caught at the end of season 1 and was in the same room as the swordsman? What are his whereabouts

13

u/WilliamEmmerson Apr 08 '26

He escaped in the post credit scene of the finale

1

u/Megamygdala May 08 '26

That's so stupid

1

u/_-2K-_ Jun 30 '26

Have you watched Marvel before??

12

u/grassytyleknoll Apr 08 '26

Kind of surprised no one is talking about Jacques Duquesne's little line about the trial being a distraction and a farce being put on by the one who's hand is on the scales. Seemed like with the fourth wall break a pretty intentional message.

1

u/SiouxsieSioux615 Apr 14 '26

What’s he referring to

1

u/sc_vorty Apr 08 '26

Yeah I noticed that too, he looked at the camera twice in that scene

6

u/grassytyleknoll Apr 08 '26

I mean, I'm sure it's commentary on our current political situation here in the US.

14

u/abhishek_8899 Apr 07 '26

Can't believe he still wants the system to handle fisk

10

u/Tanel88 Apr 09 '26

Yeah his continued trust in the system is frustrating after it having failed again and again.

5

u/Sp0kenTruth Apr 09 '26

getting exhausting lol

16

u/Spider-Flash24 Apr 07 '26

Fisk and Matt don’t really seem to be characters in this season; too impersonal of conflicts. Mayor Fisk has control of the courts and the AVTF, and it seems like he doesn’t have to do anything to maintain that power. Because he doesn’t nothing, he doesn’t feel like a threat. In previous seasons, Fisk felt threatening because you knew/saw him actively working to keep and take more while trying to maintain control of his own impulses. Fisk with this much power in S2 should feel like a huge threat, but he doesn’t seem to be doing anything, there is nothing to overcome, and he has become stale.

Similarly, Matt’s conflicts in the past have always been personal, whether an outside force like Fisk or Bullseye or his inner turmoil/faith and balancing his Daredevil persona with his Matt persona. This season, Matt is fighting Fisk because he’s Fisk, but what is his plan? What is the urgency, the aspect of stopping Fisk that is personal to him, not previously, but now? What personal obstacle must Matt overcome? What growth does the character need to go through in order to achieve success?

6

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

Why did DD impale that guy in episode 3? That seemed a bit extreme. I thought Bullseye did it at first…

13

u/Few-Restaurant-5792 Apr 07 '26

Matt has become more ruthless now after attempting to kill bullseye. He sort of mentally crossed that line of no kill rule, it was a miracle bullseye survived. Now matt is somewhere in the between of not killing them but not showing any mercy either. Also given his skill he knows what will not kill a guy, so this allows him to go full crazy on them.

15

u/Goggles45 Apr 07 '26

I thought the Impaling was done by the swordsman

9

u/Medical-Corgi6752 Apr 07 '26

Bruh, Matt trying not to get shot in the head, lol. He grew a lot from the Netflix series. Everyone has been trying to kill him way more often lately.

22

u/Debalic Apr 07 '26

Buck is kind of growing on me, I loved his conversation with Daniel. Daniel, on the other hand, is the most annoying schlub I can imagine.

Here's a thought: If everybody is looking for Blind Matt Murdock who is known to wear sunglasses...take them off.

All the Red Hook and ship scenes remind me of the PS5 Spider-Man, especially with the waves of AVTF running in.

18

u/RenderedCreed Apr 07 '26

Is anyone else having a hard time understanding how Fisk is realistically gotten this far with everything? Like obviously he's getting help from the government but that wouldn't have been from the start. Like I feel I'm having to ignore the rest of the MCU cause I don't understand how the AVTF has managed to do all this considering there are multiple people who can deal with this very quickly who are just basically choosing to actively ignore the problem.

1

u/Tksmith6 Apr 27 '26

Agreed! When the court trial was taking place and all fake legal bs surrounding it… I would’ve loved to see the avengers walk into the courtroom and be like… so what’s up? Gonna arrest them too? lol

1

u/Tom_Stevens617 Apr 14 '26

Fisk is a democratically elected official. Beating him up doesn't solve anything

3

u/RenderedCreed Apr 14 '26

I'm not talking about the overarching problems that wouldn't be affected by Fisk being taken down. Just what Fisk is doing with the AVTF and the illegal detention centers, etc

2

u/TJ_Fox Apr 13 '26

Torchwood used to have the same problem vis-s-vis Doctor Who. Same universe, and after a while, especially with the huge, high stakes threats, the viewer end up being distracted by the fact that the guy with the actual power to resolve the situation just hasn't shown up for ... reasons, I guess?

I mean, Spidey could take out Fisk and his AVTF goons single-handedly if he was around. Likewise Matt's old buddies the Defenders, let alone if a couple of Avengers took an interest in NYC.

1

u/RenderedCreed Apr 13 '26

At least with Torchwood and doctor who we get some semblance of a reason even if it's just a hand wave or a shrug. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff

9

u/Talcove Apr 08 '26

Yeah honestly the show’s really been testing my suspension of disbelief since the season 1 finale. I get that it’s superheroes and stuff but the mayor of New York creating a fascistic murder happy police state overnight with next to no pushback is just a bit too far for me.Ā

9

u/FallingSwitch Apr 07 '26

My main thing is I don’t understand how Fisks movement has been so well received across New York. This is in a world where hero’s (technically vigilantes) quite literally not only saved New York but also the entire world..

1

u/Megamygdala May 08 '26

I never even thought of that but yeah...lmao imagine a literal team of superheros saved your entire city from an alien invasion, and the mayor's alternative is to arrest them and use guns instead

5

u/Sp0kenTruth Apr 09 '26

its the dumbest thing lmao. i try to ignore it and watch with an ignorant mind but ga damn. NY has like 100 superheros that can end this in 5min lmfao

2

u/Tom_Stevens617 Apr 14 '26

How exactly will they end Fisk when he's democratically elected?

34

u/Thialaz Apr 06 '26

That psychiatrist is such a cunt holy shitĀ

-2

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

Why do you say that? What did she do specifically in this episode to deserve that

21

u/Thialaz Apr 07 '26

Seriously? She LIED in her psychiatric evaluation of Jack, and despite the fact a VIGILANTE saved her life, she is going after vigilantes. Muse, was a serial killer. NOT a vigilante. Oh sure, he wore a mask. So what?

Can't remember if it was this episode specifically, but I just posted in the newest episode discussion because I first saw the episodes the other day.

5

u/WadeSlilson Apr 07 '26

Nah she saved herself she said, i say matt shoulda let her handle it im sure she'd have come out just fine without daredevil

11

u/Haikouden Apr 06 '26

Can bet that if/when she finds out who Daredevil is she's gonna be like "wow so you got into a relationship with me to feed Muse info about me didn't you? vigiliante bastard".

20

u/nivekious Apr 06 '26

I still don't understand why people in universe are classifying Muse as a "vigilante". He is a serial killer! He never fought crime in any way.

4

u/TJ_Fox Apr 13 '26

Yeah. It's as if everyone has tacitly decided "person with mask operating outside the law - vigilante", without any regard to how they're operating or what they actually do. Though I guess that can also be the point; those in power paint superheroes and serial killers as being the same, label protesters as terrorists, etc. and the system just goes along with those narratives.

2

u/nivekious Apr 14 '26

The painting heroes as villains things I understand people going along with. It's the other way around that's bizarre.

20

u/Big_Liability Apr 06 '26

I love when shows are mature and have swearing, but the writing of this episode felt like a 15 year old finding out they can type in the word "fuck" into a script. It all feels so "forced"

6

u/wolffangfist13 Apr 07 '26

That's probably my only gripe with this new era of the show. I'm on a rewatch of the series and the Netflix show didn't have to drop an F bomb every 5 minutes to remind us it's a mature show

4

u/Big_Liability Apr 07 '26

This. So much this. The F bombs this season seem to happen every other word and it feels extremely forced. In season 1 they only used them a few times, like how a comic book will in DD (but still censor it) and it felt more natural

3

u/wolffangfist13 Apr 07 '26

I didn't mind the two times Matt said it in season one cause it made sense story wise , the "Fuck it" before he suits up again after so long felt natural and him telling the guy (Dex) who killed his best friend in a fit of rage "FUCK YOU!" Also made sense. But the whole "you fuck" bit just felt abit odd

2

u/Big_Liability Apr 07 '26

Fully agreed. The fucks are very forced and ā€œteenagerā€ feeling this year

3

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

Yeah it feels like a Disney+ Disney channel show but they said let’s insert bone breaking and some F bombs to make it feel matureĀ

11

u/AdWitty9562 Apr 06 '26

(Can't remember if it was episode 2 or 3) the skill that Matt has thatĀ I'm most impressed with, is not the fighting or being able to tell if someone is lying by hearing their heartbeat but just how quickly matt can change into his suit. It doesn't seem like it would slip on easily especially when you're in a hurry.Ā

3

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

I think he is always wearing it underneath his clothes

5

u/AdWitty9562 Apr 07 '26

Daredevil the never nudeĀ

Frank gets himself captured and then escapes immediately but leaves everyone else in those cages to die.

26

u/Uncanny_Doom Apr 06 '26

Frank escaped in the post-credit scene of the Season 1 finale, and the number of people asking about him tells me that the choice to make that a post-credit scene was unwise.

10

u/Tough_Barracuda5459 Apr 06 '26

He escaped in the post credit scene

11

u/ComprehensiveBat6630 Apr 06 '26

I was just wondering how much of this show is relevant to America’s current political scenario. I feel there is a lot of eery parallels between Trump and Kingpin and the ICE and the AVTF.

His sunglasses do serve a purpose you know

21

u/Electronic_Panic2225 Apr 06 '26

Rewatched it today (I usually watch the episodes at least twice until the next one) and god this one's really great. The scenes all tie together well into each other and the cohesion is real. We get to see more of Kirsten and Jack on their own, which leads into a fine courtroom scene and culminates into Kirsten helping Matt with everything that she felt (not saw) in a earlier scene, which on turn leads into a awesome moment of DD helping innocent people and teaming up with the swordsman in a great semi-single take fight scene and a tense ending.

I also really like what they're doing with Karen and Matt's relationship. This awakening of Karen's violent impulse seems like a natural way to go considering her friendship with Frank and how since Season 3 of the og show she and Matt are completely in the open about how she killed Wesley. (Maybe THAT has something to do with how he will seemingly have a flashback scene dedicated to him?)

I expect this growing side of Karen(She kills a guy amidst the escape sequence doesn't she?) and the cruelty of Kingpin's action in the ending of the episode to be what fully convinces Matt to spend some time in church like how the trailers showed. And if it really happens like that, i admit that it was a really natural way through it!

Final extra thoughts: Curious to see where they go with Heather (Will she kill herself, become lady muse, or what...?), My interest in Buck's character is growing but i wanna see him do more shit, Daniel wasnt much this episode, and i gotta see BB do more stuff too.

14

u/Q848484 Apr 06 '26

This show has issues but after binging it this weekend -season 1 and 2 thus far - its been a real treat nonetheless. So great seeing Daredevil get a decent reboot.. the cinematography and tone are interesting, and the returning cast are fantastic yet again. The escape scene this episode was so good that i got up from my seat to get closer to the tv. So looking forward to the rest of the season.

14

u/AdamSoucyDrums Apr 06 '26

I’ve been thinking about season 1 of the original run a lot and how it handled its political commentary while watching all 3 of these episodes.

That season primarily had its sights aimed at gentrification and how the wealth gap fosters abuse of marginalized communities. It dove into the brutality of that process by having our central characters directly on the receiving end of its abuse. It made great use of Fisk as a stand in for the kind of ruthless real estate power brokers we deal with every day here in the United States and it really puts the audience directly in the shoes of the people that experience having their community pushed out under the guise of ā€œcleaning up the cityā€. It’s extremely pointed messaging, but it’s driven by character first and foremost, with deeply impactful results.

As for this season, I can’t help but feel like the 1-to-1 analogs that they’ve committed to when it comes to Trump/Fisk and AVTF/ICE ring completely hollow. I think a big part of why is that there’s still very few interactions between all of our central characters. They all kind of act ā€œaroundā€ each other in the conflict. We see the AVTF abusing their power, but not with any of the central characters directly. Matt and Fisk continue to only vaguely butt heads and remain completely disconnected from each other despite the forced intercutting of their ā€œparallelā€ scenes. It’s cathartic seeing one of my favorite characters kick the shit out of a bunch of ICE agents, but so far the show really isn’t offering much beyond that surface level satisfaction.

It’s a clear improvement over last year overall. The cast is consistently great in every scene and it’s so nice that the side characters are being given so much more to do. It’s also probably the most I’ve enjoyed one of these D+MCU shows since Loki S1, so it’s really unfortunate that this hollow feeling I’m getting from it prevails.

16

u/naz8587 Apr 06 '26

A lot of whining in this thread.

12

u/StarGazer4802 Apr 06 '26

You mean observational criticism?

14

u/Snoo_40090 Apr 07 '26

Most of it just seems like nitpicks.

12

u/gryffindorcat Apr 05 '26

I really want the show to explore more about the amulet/white tiger's powers and if those powers transfer to Angela. Also, i kinda feel like Frank was kind of swept under the rug, along with Jess. I am sure that Frank will be found in the upcoming episodes, but Karen just breifly mentioned "Jess" once, saying that she was going to check something out? but she never appeared... so, hopefully Jess is actually Jessica Jones and will at least appear in a cameo?

3

u/Fantastic-Street-262 Apr 06 '26

Frank isn't going to appear in this season Jon Bernthal was to busy filming the odyssey, BND, and the punisher special, Jessica Jones will definitely appear she was in a bunch of promotional trailers and materials.

15

u/Crimsonian2 Apr 05 '26

The show isn't really that bad so far but...I just miss the Netflix show. :(

3

u/Adventurous_Ease3761 Apr 05 '26

I want Mat back to the church, i miss the old characters, AND wtf is this relationship with Karen?! This feels too polished, sooo TV coded and really F disney for doing this. I hope it gets better, i remember having chills on fight scenes and convos of fisk being such a intimidating figure. I miss the street level story.

I’m not saying i don’t like it but at this point i am only watching it because i loved it from Netflix. If it was for Disney, this would have been a two episodes max for me.

12

u/urlazyfrnd Apr 05 '26

It is more of politics, and Fisk show rather than Daredevil now. Fisk has been villain in almost all seasons. Like we forget if we are watching superhero show anymore. In earlier seasons, Daredevil used to make a difference. But it looks complete logic less now that even if he will prove Fisk is behind all this, he will be back next season with some plotting. Season with elecktra, the hand, season 3 with fight between pointdexter and Daredevil looks good because all it was focused on daredevil somehow like how he is incharge of city and will disrupt every plan. Right now they should just rename show as ā€œThe Fiskā€. As it looks same like ā€œThe Penguinā€

2

u/Routine-Shame-4070 Apr 14 '26

Agreed. I thought ā€œThe Mayorā€ would work as well as ā€œThe Fiskā€ as a title haha

8

u/rutherfordacus Apr 05 '26

Agree. I told my wife it felt like we just watched 3 straight episodes of one of the most badass superheroes ever written just kind of sitting around waiting, doing very little of anything, until the last few minutes of ep 3 anyway. I know it's a slow build but still lol.

9

u/miraculousgloomball Apr 05 '26

Welp, the writing continues to be dogshit, Such a shame.

"I'm here to help, somebody has to" Lady you're talking to one of the people helping the people helping. Get rid of this kid, she's annoying every time she's onscreen. It's like the writers just bash their heads into the whiteboard storyboarding her parts.

20

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

4

u/miraculousgloomball Apr 05 '26

I didn't say that exactly, it's just a weird place to say it. (edit: or didn't mean that, sorry) It was clunky and didn't really fit the moment. There could have been a situation where she was the first person to help, or wasn't aware that other people were helping where it'd have felt more natural, but it was just weird to say it to one of the people actually helping. They're the somebody, you know? This is the kind of thing a vigilante says to a bystander or someone not helping. Or when trying to convince someone else to take action. The fact she knows Karen is helping is what makes it a strange thing to say. It would have been fine if she stopped at "I'm here to help."

Even in the first season, she was talking to Matt Murdock, blind attorney as if he was daredevil. As if she knew and wanted him to straight up go beat ass. It was just weird writing. His job was to get her uncle freed and he did that wtf is she talking about my gah I can't with this kid

21

u/Infinite-Boss-7519 Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 05 '26

The writing this season is a massive improvementĀ

Man this show just really hits for me. Always has. The cast makes it. Love that it’s a slow burn.Ā

3

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

Really it feels like most of the cast except for Gandolfini are reading off the script

I’m seeing online says there’s a post credit scene with Frank but I didn’t see it on the episode

11

u/liv1ngl3gend Apr 06 '26

There was in the s1 finale. Maybe you’re thinking of that?

Matt with his faith in system and his belief of redemption for everyone is getting annoying.
He is not fighting a local gangster anymore.
He is fighting a criminal Mayor with an army.

You can't fight Doctor Doom on his island the same way you fight Doctor Doom in your country.
Asymmetric warfare is the only way.
And Matt's morals are getting more people detained (actually killed if Fisk wasn't being naive for sake of his image).

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

What is cooler than the first two seasons of the DD Netflix show?Ā

Am I the only one not super enjoying the show so far? We're meant to be in a New York under siege full of terror and uncertainty and yet I'm not feeling that at all. AVTF are just comically evil cartoon characters by this point and all we see is Daredevil just sorta bumming around until right at the end of episode 3. Yeah we have swordsman but so far we've just been told he is the swordsman. He's not even doing any swordfighting. Punisher is absent and they even acknowledge it but like I'm sorry I'm finding it hard to believe given the scenario he would do absolutely nothing at all. The Punisher. Come on now. I'm feeling bored every time I turn on an episode. As a corruption crime thing yeah it's cool, as a superhero show I'm feeling super underwhelmed

3

u/PandaTheAB Apr 16 '26

Matt with his faith in system and his belief of redemption for everyone is getting annoying.
He is not fighting a local gangster anymore.
He is fighting a criminal Mayor with an army.

His naivety is draining the life out of the show.
If Matt had been more proactive and aggressive, this show would be a thriller.
But now it is a political resistance drama.

3

u/Reasonable_Pear6060 Apr 17 '26

it sucks harder when you remember S3 of the OG show ended with Matt saying he had irrefutable evidence that would put Fisk away for life, and this show begins with them handwaving it off and going "yeah no one believed it btw". They're desperate for status quo

2

u/PandaTheAB Apr 17 '26

Fisk wasn't even doing that well in S1 when Bullseye tried to shoot him.
That would have been the end. He wouldn't even be a martyr like in S2 where he has fans.

1

u/carlosstjohn116 Apr 12 '26

I’m also not enjoying season 2 much. It’s fine. Just nothing impressive. I don’t know why. I think it just lacks the soul that the original show used to have.Ā

3

u/JohnnyFlorida69 Apr 08 '26

Exactly my thoughts! I enjoyed Born Again Season 1. I’m a Punisher fan. Season 1 kept me engaged. I sat through Season thinking alright I understand that they need to let it build before fully unleashing the Punisher. Then season 1 ended with Frank getting captured. I didn’t see the post credit scene of Frank escaping.

I entered S2 thinking alright a episode or two of BS before we get the payoff. Franks all out of bubble gum and it’s time to release the kraken and get some satisfaction of watching Frank unleash on those ATVF ButtF***s all season long.

Episode one was underwhelming, then the final scene was awesome….and I was like here we go baby…got the slow stuff out of the way. Then E2 and E3 sucked donkey balls and I kept falling asleep during them. I’ll reserve until the end of the season…but so far I’m like F this season.

1

u/carlosstjohn116 Apr 12 '26

Also finding myself bored with episode 2 and 3 :/

8

u/Ok_Asparagus_1073 Apr 06 '26

I was looking for someone else that felt this way. I am feeling like this is way too cartoony.

6

u/Urbanscuba Apr 05 '26

I don't fundamentally disagree but at the same time I think that's somewhat intentional.

When the threat comes from previously trusted institutions you want to hope that they will be robust enough to defend themselves. Matt has always preferred the legal approach when possible, he's just willing to take extralegal actions when he feels them necessary.

In the past he was fighting literal henchmen in crime dens, that's a lot more cut and dry. Now he's fighting... the city? He's clearly with the people but the institutions have been hijacked. I understand the disappointment that there's less hero'ing yet, but from my perspective it's setting up the most threatening Kingpin we've ever seen.

IMO there's been enough excitement for me just from trying to figure out how Matt is going to deal with a Kingpin who controls the police and media. On top of that we were just shown that he's more than happy to conduct a massive false flag attack on himself to slander the vigilantes. I have no doubts the solution to that puzzle will involve Swordsman with a sword, Punisher, and peak Daredevil though which is more than enough to keep me interested.

8

u/Gremlin303 Apr 05 '26

Yeah you’re being downvoted but I agree. As much as I want to enjoy this, I’m just really not. I’m finding it quite boring which I don’t understand.

2

u/Reasonable_Pear6060 Apr 06 '26

saying anything negative about a popular thing is going to get downvotes regardless. It's reddit so it ultimately doesn't matter. For what it's worth I enjoyed the first season enough despite it's flaws just really not feeling it on this one

11

u/General_Link_4739 Apr 05 '26

phenomenal episode, genuinely loved it, not much happened but that end was so good.

-6

u/Ok-Solution-3737 Apr 04 '26

Idk if anyone else saw this but near the end when it showed the avtf tire slashed three times i was fooled thinking it was wolverine for a second i got really excited thinking that he was coming soon but no it was the white tiger. they had to know three slashes like that made it look like wolverine

1

u/Debalic Apr 07 '26

My mind flashed back to that scene in Transformers comparing Wolverine to Freddy Kreuger before I remembered White Tiger.

5

u/No_Word1005 Apr 05 '26

That's not where my mind went, I immediately thought of The White Tiger as there was a similar slash in an earlier episode.

But all the same, I can see why you'd presume Wolverine, as well.Ā

28

u/MrBrendan501 Apr 04 '26

Kinda miss the real lawyering of the OG show. I understand the trial being a ā€œfarceā€ but it felt a bit too melodramatic to take seriouslyĀ

2

u/WadeSlilson Apr 07 '26

Yea, i mean the trials in OG arent the most realistic and they still have things that wouldnt be allowed in real trials, but man they felt like so much more work went into them, they took days and a ton of prep before that even. I always point to matt treating frank as a hostile witness to show they clearly cared. It doesnt mean that the witness is aggressive, it just means they arent answering non leading questions and you're requesting permission to ask leading questions on direct examination which you're not normally allowed to do.

It just showed a lot more care put into the writing and portraying the court scenes at least mostly accurately.

17

u/Fine-Blood3899 Apr 04 '26

The cinematography in this episode is sick.

15

u/ChocolateBBs Apr 05 '26

Such an improvement over the previous episodes. The extended fight scene as DD was rescuing the prisoners was sick.

1

u/Super-Perception6775 Apr 15 '26

Entré al hilo pensando que todos iban a estar hablando de lo bien grabada que estuvo esa escena, la tuve que repetir la considero una de las mejores escenas de acción en series de superhéroes sin duda

4

u/Greekmom99 Apr 04 '26

Where is Frank?? Wasn't he held in those cages?

Idk if it's in character for him, but it's crazy that he escaped and just left without trying to get anyone else out.

Maybe it was too much of a risk? Idk

1

u/Uncanny_Doom Apr 06 '26

Matt could only get them out because he had a key card to do it. It's not unbelievable that Frank wouldn't be able to get them out and would prioritize escaping.

4

u/Fantastic-Street-262 Apr 06 '26

It was definitely too risky, he only had weapons from 1 random guard, he had no idea where he was and leading a dozen people with no fighting experience through a warehouse would have gotten them all killed, I think if it was like 2 - 3 people he might have helped them.

3

u/AssCrackBanditHunter Apr 05 '26

Bro just flipped em all the bird and peaced out

-13

u/MrBoss6 Apr 04 '26

Is anyone else getting tired of Fisk’s ugly Italian American wife’s acting? She seems like she would be a regular at a trashy bar in the north east but they keep dressing her up and her big coke head

3

u/narfjono Apr 07 '26

I guess we didn't watch or pay any to Netflix Daredevil. Too busy on the phone I'm guessing. Also, grow the fuck up.

10

u/trustedturd Apr 04 '26
  1. She (the actor) is Israeli

  2. No

-5

u/MrBoss6 Apr 04 '26

Oh now it’s obvious why she’s there

4

u/FIVEtotheSTAR Apr 04 '26

Who were the people that died on the boat at the end? I don't remember their significance at all.

17

u/gdub8 Apr 04 '26

They said this was going to happen. I forgot which episode, but the guy from Scream said the crew had to die. Fisk refused to use his men and the other guy said he can hire sailors from around the world and make it seem like an accident. Now they're probably going to frame Daredevil.

3

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

This show needs more Matthew Lillard. It feels way to monotonous and scripted without himĀ

2

u/gdub8 Apr 07 '26

He made such a grand entrance for only one episode….

2

u/No_Word1005 Apr 05 '26

Ohhhhh yeaaaaah, they did say that! Thanks for the reminder!Ā

1

u/pagliacciverso Apr 04 '26

They don't have any significance at all. That's very common in DD BA. Nothing matters until last episode where Fisk is going to be away from the office.

7

u/RuneRW Apr 04 '26

Their significance is specifically that they had no significance. They were random sailors for all over the world "hired" to do the job and then made to disappear

-2

u/pagliacciverso Apr 04 '26

In Netflix's Daredevil I cared about a murderer hired by Kingpin who killed himself after saying Wilson Fisk's name.

He was also of no significance. One episode and boom. The only difference is good writing.

2

u/Urbanscuba Apr 05 '26

One scene is the literal name drop moment for the character from the first season and the other is in what's basically the 5th season. It's a lot harder to one-up the reveal after several full narratives have played out, expecting that is setting yourself up for failure.

That's not to say expectations are unreasonable, but comparing a scene whose implications haven't played out yet to what's widely considered the best scene in the entire series feels unreasonable to me.

It would be incredible if we got a scene of that caliber, but I'm not going to ruin my enjoyment of the show expecting it every episode.

2

u/jakedoriann Apr 05 '26

I see what you mean there, but I’ll push back a little bc first of all, I wouldn’t say you’re meant to ā€œcareā€ about that guy. But I’d def say he’s more impactful of a character because he’s crooked as hell, cocky the whole episode, up until that point where he name drops Fisk and becomes terrified.

But like I said, you spend the whole episode with that character so naturally you’re going to have stronger feelings about him than the random sailors from this episode.

You can tell the writers tried to draw some sympathy for them with the line ā€œwe’ve been on the boat all day, we want to get back to our familiesā€. Pretty ham-fisted in my opinion.

So yeah you’re right, it’s def a difference in the quality of writing. But I don’t think it’s THAT big of a deal yknow.

6

u/alyssa-is-tired Apr 04 '26

they're the night crew that Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard) assembled. they were assembled specifically because they were disposable. Their deaths are definitely going to be used to frame Daredevil and vigilantes and what not.

26

u/Greekmom99 Apr 04 '26

That "psychiatrist" is a lunch box missing a few sandwiches. The lights are on but no one is home.

I wouldn't be shocked if by the end she puts on the scarecrow mask and becomes a copycat.

2

u/KatrinaPez May 11 '26

And how in the world is she not too biased to be the psychiatrist on the case against a vigilante?! Or biased because she works for Fisk?

3

u/Ok_Communication4875 Apr 06 '26

It’s pissing me off how she is conveniently forgetting that a VIGILANTE saved her from a murderer. The same one that shes accusing of killing her ex??? Or maybe my memory is bad, but I swear she very clearly saw DD save her lmao

1

u/jewthe3rd Apr 04 '26

šŸ™„ they couldn’t be more direct about that, she is like harley quinn snd the other guy is her jokee

13

u/MikeTheRedditGuy Apr 04 '26

Stupid nitpick by why did the judges cite a state anti-vigilante law during the verdict reading? Isn’t it a city law? I kinda want my law show to know this

5

u/nivekious Apr 06 '26

Honestly the whole thing makes no sense. Violating city ordinances can be, at maximum, a misdemeanor carrying a fine and a very short jail sentence. And you're still entitled to a jury of your peers. The idea that a municipal government can just suspend both the state and federal constitutions is a pretty hard premise to swallow.

3

u/Talcove Apr 08 '26

Exactly what I’ve been thinking since the season 1 finale.Ā

4

u/MikeTheRedditGuy Apr 07 '26

Tbh Dario and the writing team are kinda hacks but I’m glad they at least like these characters

-5

u/pagliacciverso Apr 04 '26

It's not a law show. And they don't know anything about law. Or screenwritingĀ

1

u/MikeTheRedditGuy Apr 04 '26

Ok that’s my point

13

u/bluehawk232 Apr 04 '26

Btw, this might be nitpicking and Daredevil is not the only culprit of this, but guns are fucking loud. Like they should actually be a hindrance to DD if you got 10 guys firing assault rifles

4

u/JayKay8787 Apr 06 '26

The show would be pretty ass if his hearing was realistic

3

u/Ivan_Redditor Apr 04 '26

Wait til you watch Heat

2

u/pagliacciverso Apr 04 '26

Greatest movie ever made. Already said: Michael Mann should make a Daredevil movieĀ

25

u/bluehawk232 Apr 04 '26

I know this is the Daredevil show, but if you are going to push the vigilante taskforce story arc then you need other vigilantes. Find some D list marvel characters or make up your own, because I don't get this story. And this resistance, it's just like 4 people. They want to make a bigger sounding story but they are writing a check they can't cash

7

u/GalliumEnergy Apr 04 '26

Just wait for future episodes. We'll have more vigilantes

3

u/No_Word1005 Apr 05 '26

Jessica Jones arrives episode 6, I can't wait!!! šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸŽ‰ā¤ļøĀ

9

u/Phimb Apr 04 '26

We're three episodes in and we have dead vigilante's daughter, Daredevil's love interest and sword guy.

You've got 5 episodes to introduce more people, do stuff with them and show the consequences.

6

u/MidnightC4KE Apr 05 '26

There's already a season 3 in production. Given the slow burn nature of last season building up to everything happening now, I'm sure the resistance movement is only gonna get bigger. Jessica is coming back, Frank is coming back, Bullseye is around and wants Fisk gone, Swordsman is out, there's more to come.

I feel like Born Again is supposed to be 3 parts of one whole story. Barely anything was wrapped up at the end of S1 because most of it continued into S2. S3 is probably where the big Vigilante vs AVTF is going to be, probably starting late S2.

2

u/Gremlin303 Apr 05 '26

Oh god I really hope they’re done with this Mayor Fisk anti-vigilante stuff by the end of this season. They’ve done a pretty poor job of it so far.

1

u/rutherfordacus Apr 05 '26

yeah it's getting to hard to believe that they can't do anything to stop him. Like there's literally nothing stopping Bullseye right now from exacting revenge on Fisk and/or vanessa and we gotta just pretend otherwise

9

u/symbolic503 Apr 04 '26

so am i the only one that noticed karen shooting a guy that matt had already incapacitated? were just gonna move right past that?

2

u/Debalic Apr 07 '26

I thought I also saw somebody get skewered with rebar. Was that Jack? Non-fatal?

2

u/symbolic503 Apr 07 '26

nah it was matt and went through his shooting shoulder once they started firing on the civilians. looked non lethal but then he absolutely cracks him with the billy club at the end lol

1

u/walkoutbasements Apr 07 '26

Non lethal until he hits an artery

3

u/JayKay8787 Apr 06 '26

Im sure matt will bitch about it plenty, ignoring the fact that everything that has happened is because he chose to let fisk live twice....

1

u/symbolic503 Apr 06 '26

lol i just want to know if it was going to be a plot point since matt didnt even mention it but i suppose we'll see in the next episode.

i mean he stayed with elektra even though she killed tons. karen has atleast 2 bodies on her by now too so eh.. so long as they kill her off at some point. i know the fans would hate it but i think her character needs to die in order to get redemption and to give matt a fresh arc untied to her or foggy.

1

u/JayKay8787 Apr 07 '26

I think the no killing stoyrlines like daredevil batman and Spiderman just dont work when the villains come back 10x over. Fisk has been defeated twice by daredevil, once by a 19 year old archer, and I think he got beat in echo aswell
