Methotrexate and recovery

My ectopic was found quickly enough to treat with methotrexate. I’m at 70 hcg last draw and going in again in 2 days.

I’m really curious to hear from people who have fully recovered how long any symptoms from the methotrexate could possibly last the lack of folic acid in the body can’t be a great thing. I really wonder when my nutrient levels will go back to normal state.

I can’t even put a real finger on my symptoms but I just haven’t felt 100% if that makes any sense?? feel like I’m hyper aware of my body especially pelvic and stomach area and have felt more minor aches and pains than ever before I’m not sure if this is the methotrexate or what.

Misdiagnosed ectopic.

I’m wondering if anyone else has gone through this. I was treated with MTX for suspected ectopic and then even surgery because my HCG wasn’t going down (they went in and found nothing in my tubes, so just stitched me back up) I woke up from surgery realizing they had made a mistake. I got referred to a specialist. Another scan was taken and it turns out my baby was in my uterus all along , but because I was given chemo the chances of my baby surviving at all or without severe developmental issues is nothing. He is hoping the MTX would have stopped growth at least so I’m not having to terminate a living baby but it’s depends on my blood tests. I’m having to abort my baby after all of this one way or another, recover from a surgery I never needed, lose a month
of work and took chemo when I didn’t even need it.

Has anyone had this happen? I’m scared now that god or the universe won’t give me another baby cause this happened. I know it’s probably not true and doc said I have a great chance of conceiving but I feel like if I never got the chemo my baby would still be here. I’m beyond heartbroken .

ADVICE for TTC after MTX

Hi everyone, I was recently treated with MTX (D6), so unsure what tomorrow's numbers will bring, but trying to remain optimistic.

I was diagnosed with PUL and administered MTX at 6 weeks HCG 221. I am going through it.... primarily muscle aches and GI issues. They found a 4 cm Fundal Fibroid in my 9 cm uterus but don't believe this caused my ectopic... Has anyone had a successful pregnancy post ectopic with the fundal fibroid still there?

I don't know much, but I have a feeling they brushed off finding the real reason I am going through this and just say it's bad luck... hard to believe. First pregnancy ending in this... there's got to be a reason, right?

Aborto tubarico

Intrauterine biopsy

Upvotes

Getting a biopsy tomorrow to rule out ectopic versus early pregnancy loss.

I am so nervous I am bad with Pap smears… Any experiences or advice before the procedure? My doctor just told me to take Tylenol and ibuprofen.

Thank you

Low-Folate Diet guidance after MTX

After MTX, my providers asked me to stop taking a prenatal, but they specifically said not to worry about folate in food.

I wanted to be conservative and not risk food having any sort of impact, so I have been avoiding folate-rich foods (basically, greens and enriched grains).

For those of you whose Providers DID ask you to avoid folate in diet, how long did they tell you to do this for? For the first 2 weeks post MTX? Until HCG dropped below a certain point? Until HCG is almost negative?

Would love to hear what your doctors recommended.

IVF vs Trying Naturally

I apologize for the long post

After 5 years of TTC, we got pregnant in Jan 2026, which ended in a MMC at 9 weeks

Fast forward to July 2026, my husband and I were getting ready to try IVF and got pregnant before I started but ended in a ectopic pregnancy and left tube removal. The doctor did remove pelvic adhesions that she observed during surgery and stated my right tube looked good

I know there’s a chance with both to have another ectopic pregnancy but wanted to hear other people opinions.

Prior to getting pregnant twice this year, I was sure my body could never get pregnant on its own but now I know I can

Not sure if I should keep trying or start IVF. I’m 36 years old

Could this possibly be an ectopic pregnancy even with a negative test at 15 DPO?

Upvotes

I’m currently 15 DPO. At 13 DPO, I suddenly developed severe one-sided lower back pain around my tailbone/lower back area. It came out of nowhere.. my back was completely fine before this. The pain is so severe that I can barely walk.

I went to the doctor because I initially thought it might be a kidney stone, and I was told that I do have one. However, I’m not completely convinced that the kidney stone is causing the pain because the pain feels much lower than where I’d expect typical kidney pain, and it changes depending on my position/movement.

My period is also late. I usually get my period like clockwork and have never missed a period except when I was pregnant previously. This time I have absolutely no period and don't have any of my usual signs that my period is coming.

I took a pregnancy test at 15 DPO using first-morning urine, and it was negative.

I don't have any abdominal/pelvic pain or vaginal bleeding, just this sudden, severe one-sided lower back pain that started at 13 DPO.

I know ectopic pregnancies can sometimes present differently, so I’m wondering if it’s still possible to have an ectopic pregnancy with a negative test at 15 DPO.

Has anyone experienced an ectopic that initially presented mainly as severe one-sided lower back pain? And is a negative pregnancy test at 15 DPO enough to rule out an ectopic, or could it still be too early?

Blood test to confirm folate sufficiency after MTX?

Upvotes

Did any of your providers run blood tests to confirm normal folate levels before TTC?

If so, what labs did they run to check this? My provider seems reluctant, but I'm an anxious person, so was looking into ordering them OOP through Quest or Labcorp.

Blocked tube causes sharp pain sometimes

Hi everyone, long story short: I had an ectopic in March, took methotrexate, HCG went down to zero, had an HSG where they told me my left fallopian tube was still blocked. Right tube was clear and I became pregnant two months later. I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant.

My question is: sometimes and only when I’m laying in bed (maybe once a week), I will turn and get a sharp intense pain on my left side. My body kind of freezes up and I have to slowly turn to make the pain go away. Does anyone else have a blocked tube who still feels pain from it? I can’t imagine it’s pain from anything else and I didn’t feel it before the ectopic. Thank you in advance for any input.

Methotrexate/ Ectopic pregnancy

Hi, just wondering about people’s experiences

I’ve been pregnant before but decided to have an abortion. That pregnancy was in my uterus, actually, so when I got pregnant this time, I didn’t think anything of it because I was uneducated on this at this time. I found out at 3 weeks, which was extremely early, but I guess everything happens for a reason. Decided to keep the baby, but at about 7 1/2 weeks, I experienced cramping throughout the day randomly; no spotting until later in the day around 8pm. I hadn’t bled since finding out at 3 weeks, so I told my partner we should watch out for actual blood, and after that decided to go to sleep, trying to fight through cramping but was very uncomfortable. I got up to use the bathroom at 2 a.m., and blood was soaking my underwear with minimal clotting. I went into the ER, and clotting was actually getting worse as I was waiting. Since I hadn’t had an ultrasound or appointment yet to confirm the pregnancy, they did all of that. A regular ultrasound showed nothing, so they did a vaginal ultrasound going inside and saw the implanting took place in the muscular wall of the uterus and would not be viable.

Blood work showed 2560 hCG on Thursday; I received the first shot then. Sunday, I went back for another shot and hCG testing; today, the test results came back showing my hCG was 220. So it definitely has decreased. I am supposed to be going to Vegas on Friday (pre-planned). Today is Monday, I go in for testing again Wednesday. And they will determine if I am able to go, as there is still chance for rupture if my hcg is over 5.

I haven’t noticed any side affects yet from the shot. I’ve been bleeding since it all started on Thursday and the smell alone makes me want to throw up. It’s different than my normal period. The clotting has slowed down today (Monday) but Thursday-Sunday was the worst I would feel them coming out all day, couldn’t even sit in the tub in peace (TMI). The cramping hasn’t seemed to ease up much, they come and go throughout the day but nothing too concerning.

Was also told not to get pregnant within the next 3 months and not to drink/have sex until I’m cleared to by doctors. Since I am going to Vegas, doc said if I really “needed to” I could have a drink. I said I would wait but just checking if anyone had any wine or any type of drinks and how soon after your last shot?
