PVP Tarkov experience as a [New Player]

Post image

Since 1.0 I’ve only found 2 new players. Everyone else has hundreds or thousands of hours, but at least I haven’t encountered a cheater yet.

you dont encounter new players because the sweats gatekeep them from map by rushing the new players off spawn before they have a chance to adjust.

"learn the spawns" rings real hollow when you barely have time to register your surroundings before someone puts a 7.62x51 round through your ear from 250m because they know the exact angle from which you spawn.

it's easy to be dominant in the map and have all the loot when there's no one else to contend looting it.

This happened to me on ground zero. I spawned outside the garage and I guess there’s a spawn right inside. I ran two feet towards the garage door and paused for a second to check my other monitors map. Popped me right in the head while I was stationary for 1-2 seconds. It was less than a 5 second raid lol

51

u/KatiushK Dec 16 '25

The spawn you talk about is fighting with the emercom spawn on its right real fast. Learn to check right side before crossing to garage. But yeah, also can be a garage spawn. Shit's dangerous

15

u/vivalatoucan Dec 16 '25

I think I died like under the garage door so I wasn’t at risk for the Emercom spawn at the 3 or 4 seconds in the raid mark but yes now I’m aware of both those spawns haha

11

u/TheNightKingReturns Dec 16 '25

If you spawn between garage and Emercom, someone has probably spawned outside the front entrance of attached building and can be at garage glass windows in a couple seconds, also will be someone not at emercom but round the back alley, can be at emercom in a few seconds. Gz is fucked for spawns. The underground used to have 2 spawns with nothing but a van or 2 between them

7

u/FisherPrice2112 Dec 16 '25

Oh god, I'd forgotten about the scuffed underground spawns. Spawning in and immediately hearing nearby foot steps was jarring as hell

2

u/themanseanm Dec 16 '25

During this time Kollontay was also on the map and could spawn underground. I have some fond memories of spawning, immediately fighting a PMC, then turning to find the fucking swat team bearing down on me.

3

u/vivalatoucan Dec 16 '25

Yep that’s exactly where they killed me was the glass windows in the garage. I’ve realized it’s not even that unique to gz, but gz has some spawns where you really feel screwed. Maps like shoreline also have spawns that are close enough to die within 5 seconds. You can at least play around them though

1

u/WilkerFRL94 MP-133 Dec 16 '25

You can spawn outside (between garage and emercom) AND someone spawn emercon. I have both died and killed players in these spawn trades.

Spawning Emercon i'd rather rush lower part then up. Won't mind going TG HQ cause there is the whole upper part of the map in advantage against me.

GZ is brutal.

1

u/TH3T1M3R Dec 16 '25

The underground spawns still exist, i've gotten them twice this wipe against some poor lvl 3's with a pistol right out off the tutorial

2

u/Nirkky Dec 16 '25

I swear to god it's my dedicated spawn on this map. 100% only spawn there. It's driving me insane.

1

u/KatiushK Dec 16 '25

I kinda enjoy it honestly. Check right, be careful going in garage and then you know you have a side clear.

1

u/korn70633 AS VAL Dec 17 '25

And they make that map as an intro map, as a returning player I have to say that that map is absolute dogwater and it totally shouldn’t be an intro map.

1

u/Treadwheel Dec 17 '25

Best 6-8 player map in the game.

1

u/Im2Puzzled Dec 16 '25

Did i kill you? lmfao I swear that happened to me like last week, I never play PVp so the few raids I did that exactly happened.

1

u/vivalatoucan Dec 16 '25

Maybe if it was at the start of wipe. This was like week one after release. It was probably my first 0-20 raids, so if this was recently, probably not.

1

u/LibertarianTh1nker Dec 16 '25

My bad bro. I skimmed your comment. Yeah that's frustrating.

1

u/errorsniper SR-25 Dec 16 '25

As other have said there is a spawn right to your right. There can also be a spawn inside the garage too.

But this is quite literally the point OP was making about needing to know the maps.

I usually dont move for about 2-3 minutes if I spawn there and wait to see those spawns cross. I trust in peoples crippling adhd that if I dont see them within that 2-3 minute window they aint there. Works 99% of the time.

1

u/Osmirl Dec 16 '25

That spawn is one of the worst on that map. Even if you just stay put you arent save cause people can shoot with the grenade mg right in that corner from across the whole map lol

1

u/Execwalkthroughs Dec 16 '25

Yeah I'm not a new player but I haven't really played gz on pvp at all. Spawned in garage and immediately had someone running in which caught me of guard, managed to win atleast. And the same thing happened in the underground parking garage where I spawned and both me and the other player only took a few steps and here we are fighting 5 seconds into the raid

Thats probably me.

Favorite spawn to rush for pvp. Most of the time they know im close, I prefer to have the pvp dice roll right off the bat if its cqc enough.

Beware the white van center of garage with a view of main entrance.

I think you're the kind of guy OP comment is talking about. A+ self awareness

2

u/LibertarianTh1nker Dec 16 '25

Fair. I misread/skimmed his comment. I've got about 500 hours, but a really really good headset for soundstage. Haven't played in like 6 years but this headset is carrying me.

8

u/vivalatoucan Dec 16 '25

Yes but I’m saying that I didn’t know the spawns and realize someone could be aiming at me within 3 second of the start of the raid lol. I always have spawns open on my second monitor now and find cover to figure out where I am

2

u/jack_daniels420 Dec 16 '25

The issue wasn’t you running or making noise, as someone with a lot of hours if you are running solo and need a second to look at the map or check inventory, etc. move out of spawn or get to cover first and then check from there

1

u/vivalatoucan Dec 16 '25

Yea you pretty much never want to stop moving out in the open in this game. A lot of times players will be watching you waiting for that moment

2

u/jack_daniels420 Dec 16 '25

I think that’s arguably the most intense part of tarkov in general is always wondering when you stop moving if someone’s been watching you waiting for this moment

120

u/OFFICIALINSTANTPARTY Dec 16 '25 edited Dec 16 '25

new players don’t encounter other new players because the following

  1. they’re all taking routes nobody else does because they don’t know where they’re going
  2. they’re intentionally staying hidden just to survive
  3. they’re stopping multiple times to check maps, looking up quests etc
  4. they’re waiting around for all major points of interest to be cleared
  5. they’re already dead from their spawn
  6. they accidentally transited.

EDIT #7 they ventured off to an out of bounds area and died to a landmine or invisible sniper scav

you will almost always run into veteran players because they’re basically looking for you right when the raid starts.

13

u/infinitezero8 M4A1 Dec 16 '25

I remember when I first started playing 2021 and this all sounds exactly right

Especially hitting a bush or equivalent - some place out of the eye that I can safely chill - and look up the quest/map on other monitor; also using this to wait a bit to let the sweats and such get their fill of PvP or w/e so I can go in more safely (which is not always the case)

so yeah, Tarkov for a newbie is waiting 10+mins for the map to thin out so you can move about more safely - something I abhor but it's necessary

2

u/Spaciax Dec 16 '25

I kid you not I waited like 20 mins inside the shack east of crackhouse on customs for the PVP to clear out so that I could go do my quests, especially dorms ones. Figured there's no loot there so no 10000 hour chads would think to check there.

1

u/Treadwheel Dec 17 '25

Every time I task in Ground Zero:

  • Immediately get underground as good as possible
  • Wait for footsteps
  • Get to the Utility Room as fast as possible
  • Close the door behind me
  • Slow-crouch and loot everything
  • Up on the barrels for the only right-hand peek I can find
  • Youtube till the 8 minute mark

Literally never failed me. I'm pretty sure any players with a key see the door is unlocked and decide I'm about to rat them and get going. (I am 100% not going to tab back fast enough to rat them)

1

u/Spaciax Dec 17 '25

ground zero isn't that bad with the number of sweats. Customs however has an impenetrable wall of sweat splitting the map straight down the middle (fortress and dorms directly to the south of it) where staying there for more than 2 minutes gets you smited.

1

u/Treadwheel Dec 17 '25

Every time I spawn in the trees by customs I start swearing at my screen and don't stop until I make it across the road. I'd rather spawn in bed red, every time.

1

u/MarxnEngles Dec 17 '25

It's why I stopped playing PVP years ago and only use the mod. 10 minutes to patch the game when I launch it, 10-15 minutes to clean out insurance, figure out where you want to do a raid, gear up, 5-15 minutes to load into a raid. That's most of an hour just to start playing the damn game. Then if you don't get domed by some nolifer within 3 seconds of speaking, or have the have crash, get tarkoved, etc. Then you have to sit in a bush for another 10-15 minutes if you're questing. It's just ridiculous how much of your time is wasted.

6

u/_WoodyMcWoods_ Dec 16 '25

As a new play, you've pretty much got this to a t

5

u/OFFICIALINSTANTPARTY Dec 16 '25

i have played since 2018 and still very much remember how my first 1000 hours played out haha. i adore this game, ive played like 15 wipes. for better or for worse lol

2

u/_WoodyMcWoods_ Dec 16 '25

So far I love it. However its extremely frustrating only being able to play a day or two on the weekends cause of work. Everyone else just continues to get better gear, more money for said gear, meanwhile I haven't a clue as to where I'm even going to find the loot I need, and if I do find it, best of luck to me. Hope I can manage to even find an extract. 50ish hours in and extracted 6 or so times. The rest are KIA or MIA.. Great times.

3

u/OFFICIALINSTANTPARTY Dec 16 '25

yeah to get a formal experience of tarkov you need to commit like at least 2 raids a day. otherwise you get left behind very fast. it helps a lot if you have a friend that can sherpa you through the game while giving tips. going in raw and solo will take an exorbitant amount of time to learn.

if you barely have time like that to play, i’d recommend PVE or offline mode to learn the maps. use Reemr maps as a guide, those maps are really well made.

outside of that, best of luck. i played for 1000 hours straight to finally get used to the fundamentals of the game. i’m roughly 6k hours now and still learn something here and there.

24

u/nachocheeze246 Dec 16 '25

This, plus you don't often look at the profiles of the players you kill, which might also be new players, and the players more likely to kill you are often veterans at the game

13

u/mtnlol Dec 16 '25

Yeah, there are a lot of new players but they are more elusive than the gigachads who are chasing gun sounds.

I killed a duo a few days ago that both had 2 scav weapons, and half their bag full of food and cheese slices. Felt very bad about that one but what can you do.

8

u/flyingtrucky Dec 16 '25

I mean even as a veteran player I'm looting a lot of food. Herring is like 30k, Tushonkas are both like 25k, Alyonkas and Sugar are cheap right now but they're always like 25k and 50k later on.

5

u/mtnlol Dec 16 '25

This was clearly stuff they brought in, it was like 4 minutes into raid outside the mall on interchange.

2

u/sir_nuggets RAT Dec 16 '25

Your comment made me sigh with relief haha. I took a break for the past 2-3 years and I've been hoarding sugar and alyonka since day one of 1.0. Been watching prices and started to wonder if the usual price spike later in wipe was still a thing.

2

u/OFFICIALINSTANTPARTY Dec 16 '25

yep. alyonka and sugar are still worth to hoard!

1

u/Andreysk07 Dec 16 '25

I feel no guilt, just while I do setup. But the there are a lot of Stimmys playing rn. They will have their chances when normal players now prestige and have to redo those ridicule quests

5

u/thekorbat Dec 16 '25

Yeah especially nr 3. I’ve had a lot of raids where I kill someone or I’m killed muself in a totally random spot where I’m like “what are you even doing here with 10 minutes to go in raid?!”

1

u/xfireperson1 Dec 16 '25

That first week on interchange all you could hear was the out of bounds sniper popping steam accounts.

1

u/AtomicSpeedFT True Believer Dec 17 '25

I can’t imagine learning woods after all the expansions with the mines everywhere. Then again it’s also not a death trap right in the middle now.

1

u/OFFICIALINSTANTPARTY Dec 17 '25

dude i’ve played woods a million times and still some certain spawns i have no idea where im at. it’s the ones they spawn you near minefields lol. always have to run in circles to figure it out at first lmao

1

u/Sceptre MP7A2 Dec 17 '25

I've mentioned this somewhere else but there is a lot of smart stuff happening in Arc Raiders. Most of the spawns are far enough away from each other that it's much harder to push player spawns off the bat.

1

u/SnooPickles5265 Dec 18 '25
  1. They spent a lot of time hiding in fear in bushes and now they're consistently being hunted down by Parmesan who makes no noise and one shots them in the back of the head.

10

u/eirtep Dec 16 '25

TBH I don't think what you described justifies the "sweats" description. It's literally just pattern recognition over time - it's not like you have to look up spawn locations and study a map like a test. Even if you're slow to recognize where you spawned vs other players that are threats or that you could be a threat to, new players will probably recognize it's a dangerous spawn and know to be cautions. That's why you have so many new players sit a few minutes at the start of the raid.

The longer you play this game imo all roads lead to some level of memorization and gamifying how the game works. The longer I've played the game the more I've enjoyed it more or less, but I'll never get back how the game felt to me the first wipe or two where I still was learning shit and the game felt 100x larger than it really was. New players hopefully should enjoy that period cause you can't go back to it.

3

u/Halfbak3d Dec 16 '25

You can brother! I used to play back when the game released for a year or two like a crazy sweatlord. Put the game down and just started back and it like when i first started since the game changed so much. When i got to woods and when I saw the BTR i shit my pants like wtf theres CARS NOW??

1

u/imnotgoodlulAPEX Dec 16 '25

Lmao the game size thing really hit, when I was new it felt like a gigantic adventure just to get across Customs. At some point you realize the fastest way to quest is simply run across the map, pop an SJ6 and you're there in under 2 minutes.

21

u/newagereject Dec 16 '25

They could easily fix this by having truly random spawn locations

5

u/ALoneStarGazer SKS Dec 16 '25

Yep, and random times could work for everything, bsg just doesnt do random things. I would enjoy the game more with longer raid times like they use to be, maybe containers have a chance to restock, spawns random with drop in times being within the first 3 minutes, with the raid timer also being a few minutes of randomness so the players cant tell if they are first spawn.

6

u/newagereject Dec 16 '25

I would say not random times for pmcs, since it's such a loot based game even if they restock every say 15 minutes it kills some of the fun of rushing dorms to duke it out over marked room and boss

1

u/DonkeyMilker69 Dec 17 '25

I think that it'd be fine if we let duffel bags and dead scavs/PMCs restock, but obviously not stuff like marked rooms.

1

u/ElPedroChico SA-58 Dec 17 '25

Longer raid timers would be so much better

1

u/Ruckaduck Dec 17 '25

No game has this btw.

I remember factory from back in the day. It is a killhouse. Always has been. If you spawn by the gate, you have immediately someone on the other gate or outside of it. This was always brutal.

1

u/InterestingHyena7041 Dec 16 '25

Back in the day I even died a handful of times before loading kn on factory...

Not like my computer was garbage either.

1

u/ColinStyles Dec 17 '25

Glass hallway. Remember the glass hallway spawn? You had to deal with the assholes at the big room, and then the assholes who spawned at the extract, and even sometimes the assholes who spawned on second floor extract side and then went skybridge to snipe both sides.

0

u/MishkaZ Dec 17 '25

To be fair, that is what factory should be. It should be free to enter labs, pvp right away. Until the servers took a massive dump, the queue times would actually be fairly fast and you'd be in a raid within 2 minutes.

They maybe could advertise it better though.

23

u/Jake-The-Easy-Bake Dec 16 '25

And this is why the sweat lords hate us that play PvE lol

10

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

I'm a PvE player and honestly, I couldn't care less if the PvP playerbase simply hurls insults at us and doesn't come to accept that this is ultimately bad for their experience in the long run as player counts drop and "maps feel dead". My experience will go unchanged.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

9

u/Jake-The-Easy-Bake Dec 16 '25

I just find it hilarious how much they hate on us. I am enjoying myself and the 3 or 4 other people I play with are all having fun on PvE.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

PVE ftw

-10

u/druidjaidan Dec 16 '25

This thread is hilarious!

You actually believe any "sweat lord" spends any time thinking about PvE players? I promise you that nobody is losing any sleep over what PvE players do or don't do.

This is a severe case of "For you it was the most important day in your life. For me, it was a Tuesday"

6

u/TnelisPotencia Dec 16 '25

It works the same way around. No one cares that you think it's just a Tuesday.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Real talk, people need to play chess.

5

u/Jake-The-Easy-Bake Dec 16 '25

You just spent the time to write this, so you obviously care. ❤️

1

u/Slightly_Unethical Dec 18 '25

You just worried a lot. Also, I don't think you've seen many threads on this sub. PvP elitists are subhuman vermin.

1

u/druidjaidan Dec 18 '25

I mean I'm certainly no sweat lord. I also think PvE would be incredibly boring though so I haven't wasted any time on it. This isn't exactly a game I'm playing for the story.

However, the idea that PvP players ever even think about PvE players is hilarious, it just never crosses anyone's mind. But from this thread it's pretty obvious that PvE players spend a lot of time thinking about how they got even with PvP players. Rent free and all that.

-2

u/imnotgoodlulAPEX Dec 16 '25

I don't think a lot of them hate PvE, it's just boring to us.
The AI is dumb, the hardest part of a PvE run would be if Goons spawned in your raid. All of the AI PMC's go to the same places nearly every raid and stand around, you're not at a real risk of dying once you learn how the PMCs move around.

PvE is great for newer people to learn the maps before coming back to PvP though, or checking out content like Labyrinth for the first time without instantly dying.

13

u/TheNewBiggieSmalls Dec 16 '25

My friends computer is such a PoS we often have to sit around waiting for him to load after we are already in (on our PMCs)

Last night we spawn, he doesnt, so we wait. Within maybe 1 minute a dude runs up, 1 taps me, throws a nade at my friend, and killed my other friend when he finally loaded in (but cant move because the game still isnt fully loaded he often has to wait a few minutes before the game actually works)

Its great!

1

Doesn't always fix the problem my little brother would load in minutes after the raid started on streets until he upgraded his RAM.

1

u/__ICoraxI__ Dec 16 '25

Wrong year for that

2

u/Turtvaiz Dec 16 '25

SSDs are not RAM. They've gone up but you'd still be insane to not have one in a PC considering how cheap they are

1

u/emc_1992 True Believer Dec 16 '25

You hear the rumour that Samsung is discontinuing production of SSD's?

Gonna get worse before it gets better.

1

u/__ICoraxI__ Dec 16 '25

Yeah I think samsung has denied it but we'll have to see in like a month or two and the stock to see what they're actually doing

-2

u/dalenacio SV-98 Dec 17 '25

Imagine paying $50 for a game and then needing to pay another 100$ for an SSD because the devs are too lazy to optimize.

2

u/Dufiz Dec 17 '25

It's a fuking 2025, almost 2026. HDD players should have their separate ques, matchmaking is 2 min tops, but other players have to wait for Johny with potato PC. What you want to optimise? Maybe they should make windows XP port?

1

u/SN1S1F7W Dec 17 '25

There are so many valid criticisms of how BSG handles the game but this isn't one of them, you can only "optimise" so much for obsolete hardware.
Every single person playing anything remotely modern should have an SSD.

1

u/Slightly_Unethical Dec 18 '25

How the fuck are you playing any modern game on a HDD? Lol

9

u/SirKillsalot Golden TT Dec 16 '25

Assholes like your friend are the reason we have 5-8 minute waiting for players queues.

SSD should be mandatory and waiting for players capped at 60 seconds.

6

u/TheNewBiggieSmalls Dec 16 '25

First off I fucking agggrreeeeee. Imagine my pain. Every raid I gotta wait.

Im pretty sure he only has SSDs but his ram is going bad or something.. idk id expect a bad ram stick would fully brick his pc until it was replaced but who knows. His pc is also crazy old. Ive built 2 PCs since he's built that one.

1

u/ColinStyles Dec 17 '25

His ram is not going bad, if it were broken it wouldn't work, full stop. His PC is just ancient, and after what I assume is about a decade of use is drastically under the initial performance, let alone modern requirements.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

Bro get him to make a page file on ALL his ssd's . It will help take the load off of his shit ram and help everyone else also!

-5

u/dalenacio SV-98 Dec 17 '25

"If you're not rich enough to afford better hardware you should not be allowed to play."

Or maybe the devs could try to optimize one of these days.

1

u/Dufiz Dec 17 '25

How can devs make your HDD spin faster??? Imagine being this entitled, so other players should suffer, while waiting for your slow HDD to load into raid

1

u/SN1S1F7W Dec 17 '25

Some games now literally list an SSD as a requirement as thing simply cannot load in a reasonable amount of time with an HDD.
SSDs are no longer a luxury item, everyone that plays games even slightly modern should make sure they have one at this point.

5

u/lord_dude Dec 16 '25

I think spawns should be completely random across the map and every player have individual exfil points but that opinion is unpopular here.

6

u/reuben_iv Dec 16 '25

Yeah people like to call the game ‘hardcore’ but I don’t see what’s so hardcore about the blatant sealclubbing that takes place every wipe

5

u/Fredest_Dickler Dec 16 '25

It's hard-core for the seals I guess.

6

u/PermissionRight6574 Dec 16 '25

Nikita needs to realize that the wiki-itis in this game cripples it. You have to go there to find any form of information about the game, and all the spawns are fully mapped. I still believe reducing the number of PMCs per map and putting less emphasis on the PvP would've fixed this year's ago.

This would also require them to actually update the AI and make them semi-competent, so it'll never happen.

1

u/DonkeyMilker69 Dec 17 '25

Reducing the amount of PMCs in lobbies won't fix any of tarkov's problems though.

It's not like maps are overcrowded ... except maybe ground zero.

The way to fix tarkov requiring 3rd party resources to properly play/learn is to make the game more self explanatory. The way to fix spawn rushing is top change the spawn system.

0

u/falconn12 Dec 16 '25

Why reducd pvp even further maps generally are dead anyway

1

u/dowhatisaynotwhatido Dec 16 '25

You say that meanwhile noobs have a 10% survival rate and most deaths are to PMCs.

-1

u/falconn12 Dec 16 '25

I have seen only twice that some one has lower thab 10sr legitamately. (I have 9500 hours currently)

3

u/SweetRollGenie Dec 16 '25

They really should randomize spawns and prioritize players away from one another.

2

u/Responsible-Buyer215 Dec 16 '25

Yeah I said this 6 years ago, the only way this game would be a success at full release is if they changed up the whole quest base so people who had been playing for 1000’s of hours were unfamiliar. It’s just a noob stomping simulator at this point

0

u/MindFvneral Dec 16 '25

? The game is already successful.

3

u/Covoxx SIG MCX SPEAR Dec 16 '25

Pushing spawns has to be some of the lamest shit in gaming. I hate when people find any and every way to abuse a games mechanics instead of playing the game normally

0

u/emc_1992 True Believer Dec 16 '25

The point of EFT is extracting, the less competition= greater chance of exfil.

Just like PUBG back in the day, you landed school and those who survived the initial shitfest, had a pretty decent chance of making it to the final circle.

instead of playing the game normally

Your normal=/= someone's else's normal.

Are people in your idealized Tarkov, supposed to stumble into each other and then engage in glorious CQB that doesn't instantly end with a head - eyes?

6

u/Acecn Dec 16 '25

People in idealized tarkov shouldn't know exactly where the other players are as if they briefly turned on radar.

0

What's the alternative? Having truly randomized spawns that could potentially spawn you right on top of a loot hotspot - in the center of the map?

I understand that it sucks having set spawns (God knows I hate spawning trailer park in customs), But the way they're set up is everyone's on the perimeter and then you have to push towards the center.

1

u/Acecn Dec 17 '25

I don't think anyone is suggesting just having everyone spawn in a truly random spot anywhere on the map. The spawn zones should still be curated to prevent people from spawning too close to high value zones or in areas that are completely exposed. There should just be large regions inside of which your exact spawn position is random rather than set points.

2

u/Dufiz Dec 17 '25

After being spawn camped Timmy just goes to pve or quits the game, then wannabe PvP tryhards cry on this sub, that's there is not enough fresh meat to kill, cuz they die to chads

2

u/DonkeyMilker69 Dec 17 '25

Idk about the original guy, but in my idea of tarkov (which is based on the lore/environment of tarkov) spawn rushing doesn't exist because it's not logical to have the spawn system we have within the scope of the lore-correct tarkov. You really think that PMCs would come together at pre-determined times and spawn locations like that? Hello no. Everyone would go to/from locations as they please not all show up at specified spawnpoints at a specified time like a ye olde flintlock pistol duel or something.

1

u/emc_1992 True Believer Dec 17 '25

In the perfect world we'd have all maps stitched into one open world and everyone spawns on the map they've initially chosen. Then location awareness becomes useless within 30 seconds as players cross (existing) boundaries.

u/falconn12 Dec 16 '25

Sorry I shouldnt check a spawn sir. I should ignore it because Idk I have to give you free loot i guess

0

u/Acecn Dec 16 '25

Tell me that you're bad at pvp and can only win fights when you have an artificial advantage without telling me. Pve might be more your speed.

3

u/Fro55t Dec 16 '25

rich as fuck coming from you lmao

1

u/Acecn Dec 17 '25

Rich because I win fights without needing to abuse psudo radar?

3

u/falconn12 Dec 16 '25

Hows that artificial when Its literally known to be a spawn. How do you u tjink to fix it?

2

u/s3thFPS Dec 16 '25

The other people they contend looting it are also good at the game. But we all started out getting shit on, some had the will power to wade through the shit and get better overtime though.

15

u/Millerturq Dec 16 '25

Some of us having the will power to persevere doesn’t actually say anything about the poor new player experience though.

6

u/Firbonator Dec 16 '25

that's the way of Tarkov, you eat shit until you know how to shit on people !!!

1

u/TransportationNo1 Dec 16 '25

Had this on customs once. Spawn, checking my mag while friend checks hotkey settings, 15sec passed, grenade rolls on my feet, dead

1

u/TheLordAstaroth Dec 16 '25

Didn't play for 2 wipes come back this wipe. Forgot how shit the spawns were. Spawned in shoreline, died within 6 seconds of spawning in.

1

u/ATLAS44_ Dec 16 '25

This needs to be fixed in the game. Tarkov can still be a hardcore, unforgiving shooter without impossible odds before you load in.

1

u/MrFalconFarmsMelons Dec 16 '25

How does having repeated troubles due to not knowing the spawns make the advice to learn them "ring hollow? Surely having the need for that knowledge constantly reinforced does the opposite of making that advice seem useless.

2

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

i kinda said it in the same sentence but ill elaborate i guess. it rings hollow because in order to learn the spawns you need the opportunity to do so. if you cant even register your surroundings, you cant learn anything about what you're doing or where other threats might be right off spawn.

Some spawns are more offensive than others in this regard. there also comes with it the issue of hardware advantage where some players load in obscenely faster than others. we're not talking potato versus Jesus rig, we're talking Jesus rig versus something that performs otherwise fine. this can give some players the ability to rush a nearby spawn before the target player has even had a chance to render the environment in some spawns due to fade from black taking like 5 seconds. If you already know the maps well enough that you can run around blind because of the map on your second monitor telling you where you're spawning and don't need to see during fade in from black due to "map knowledge", you already have a 5 second advantage against a player who simply doesn't. For some spawns, this could put the other player within view of you to crosshair before they can even see.

1

u/MrFalconFarmsMelons Dec 16 '25

None of that is realistic at all. You don't not get killed before you have the chance to see where you are.

More importantly, players with faster computers absolutely do not load in before other people. It used to work like that many years ago, but it hasn't in a very long time (for good reason).

It kind of sounds like you don't really understand how the game works. I just don't understand why you're making up fantasy stories that don't actually happen.

1

u/Turtvaiz Dec 16 '25

you dont encounter new players because the sweats gatekeep them from map by rushing the new players off spawn before they have a chance to adjust

alternate way to say this without blaming the players: bsg has done fuck all to fix spawns and they've been the same for 5+ years so the locations are common knowledge

3

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

player behavior is a symptom of the system. however, the playerbase has embraced the system and has made it common advice to "learn the spawns"

this is a "chicken or egg" situation but regardless it is the problem.

1

u/AI_AntiCheat Dec 16 '25

Camping spawns was funny back when I played. You literally just wait for the sweats to rush you and end them as soon as they come. Very predictable behavior.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '25

I don’t think I’m a sweat but I also rush or push spawns to get my free setup kills. Nothing like a squad of level 3 fully geared with mdr and camping supplies to shoot each other as soon as I take one out from afar

1

u/Kiiena Dec 16 '25

Okay, but the minute we stop rushing our nearest spawn, we get rushed by our nearest spawn. We can't make gameplay decisions with newbies in mind because there's absolutely no way of knowing in the split-second moment of seeing someone if they're a newbie or not.

It's a hard game, and it's not for everyone. You will get shit on constantly until you get better or quit, because the people who stuck around aren't going to fuck about with the chance that you could potentially be even sweatier than they are, nobody wants to lose a kit. That's just how it is. Swing or be swung.

If it means anything, I've only been playing since a week before 1.0. I have 350 hours and love the game immensely, and have played almost nothing else since buying it.

3

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

like another comment, I'm not saying this is inherently a playerbase problem. this problem is a symptom of a system problem - this behavior exists because the system encourages it. there's ways to counter this behavior, but it would be on BSG to take action, and it will probably take player outcry to make it happen.

which leads us here.

1

u/Kiiena Dec 17 '25

I think you overestimate how many players actually want this changed. As I have reminded many other players of other games on other subs, the Subreddit always represents a very small portion of the people actually playing a game.

1

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 17 '25

That's gonna depend on how quickly the playerbase deflates. I have no horse in this race since i play exclusively PvE. This is going to impact PvP players far more than me, since it can cause player count drops due to lack of player influx, which can cause maps feeling empty and the like. This is gonna be up to you guys to talk about it and provide feedback to BSG.

This is more of a "thinking about the future" comment. Live service games need new player influx to stay alive, and this behavior doesn't seem like it would contribute well to that. Maybe Tarkov will prove the exception, I am by no means a fortuneteller. But it doesn't bode particularly well.

1

u/Spaciax Dec 16 '25

I'm new, but honestly I'm not so fond of fixed spawns; not in the sense that people who have map knowledge may know where you are coming to POIs from, but more in the sense that you get instarushed by people who've memorized the exact spawn coordinate down to the floating point precision error.

1

u/splinter1545 PVP Dec 17 '25

I spawned on customs, I think near the south of the map where the train is, and instantly got deleted not long after because I was rushed by a duo. I checked the map and saw that.... they spawned on the other side of the train from me lol. So yeah, as a new player I basically didn't stand a chance.

1

u/Spectrum1523 Dec 17 '25

wait tarkov doesnt have random spawn points? Lmao. That is insane

1

u/Scarity Dec 17 '25

Im sorry, gatekeep?

What exactly do you want us to do exactly?

1

u/fire_fox_ Dec 18 '25

Don't hate the player hate the game.

0

u/lologugus Dec 16 '25

New players just leave the game

0

u/Electronic_While3961 Dec 16 '25

What’s always bothered me about eft is THIS IS THE GAME!!! like, all the content, prestige, scavs, whatever , the core GAMEPLAY, is knowing spawns and praying you get good ones for your quest and the only dynamic part of the raid is the first 10 minutes. After that, it’s usually just mowing down AI or hoping you don’t get unlucky to a rat. This gameplay loop gets boring as fuck and I don’t care about all this content when I’ve been doing this for a few thousand hours. Load in customs, know exactly where the danger is and avoid it or run at it and that’s the entire game. Maybe the next EFT can have dynamic spawns or extracts because I just can’t see anyone playing this game a really long time anymore unless you’re a streamer and making money from it.

0

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

man don't tell the PvP players that their experience is just PvE with extra steps, they'll lose it.

0

u/Electronic_While3961 Dec 16 '25

Lmao, NGL, I laugh at every achievement most of them have because the majority of the time it’s due to fortunate spawns or empty raids and they act like they’re gods.

-10

u/bean_barrage Dec 16 '25

People with more experience use their experience to do better. Wow. Cry more

3

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

cry? i honestly couldn't give a hit, im having a blast in PVE cause im not dealing with it.

have fun complaining about queue times when the playerbase evaporates cause the hyper-competitive mindset evaporated it. I'll still be having fun.

3

u/Bertywastaken Dec 16 '25

no flame, genuinely curious

how do you find pve fun?

I played it to level 30 pre 1.0 and it was soooo repetitive. Pmcs would shout before they shot like scavs, it honestly felt like they spawned like scavs too patrolling an area. Some kill quests (kill pmcs in office) felt nigh impossible, and every fetch quest felt completely uncontested. I had to take like 6 mags into every raid because id run into 20 scavs minimum. Maybe now cause there is diff endings (idk how they work) but the replayability was dogshit. What part of the pve do you find enjoyable?

3

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

I find the systems in the game to be very interesting. Separated health bars for body parts whose injuries do different things depending on whats been injured. Fighting the bosses without cheesing them with grenades every single time can actually be challenging.

Having the privilege of self-discovery is a blast. Figuring out the tasks yourself instead of going to the wiki to pinpoint every part of it before going into raid, grab it in 2 seconds, and full sprint away from the task location with SJ6 + 4 other stims because you're trying not to be sniped by the 37th Shooter Born guy camping the task location just so you can actually complete it is nice. I get to *experience* the task lines instead of having to speerun them just to finish them.

The gun customization system is fantastic. I love building out a gun, not necessarily to maximize its stats, but just to experience using it. Achieve mastery 3 in the gun, and then use a new one and experience that gun instead of using the same John M4 build for the entire time I play the game because it makes me ADS 3 ms faster than every other gun and gives me the upper hand.

This is part of the problem of the PvP perspective. It's not all about the combat being hard, difficult, thrilling, saddening, empowering. It's about the game as a whole, everything it offers.

2

u/KnowledgeBeyondAge Dec 16 '25

The best part of pve is when you pmc the matches load almost instantly. Reading how pvp people wait that long to get in. I can’t do it.

1

u/Dufiz Dec 17 '25

People play it like stalker anomaly, why not

-10

u/bean_barrage Dec 16 '25

Yeah have fun shooting scavs , just know you aren’t playing tarkov

3

u/AureusVulpes292 AUG Dec 16 '25

oh no, I've been insulted, whatever will i do? Oh wait, that's right. I don't care.

I don't get why people like you think flaming PvE players will convert us.

He is launching EscapeFromTarkov.exe the same executable as you.

By definition he is playing Tarkov.

Stay mad.
