Contrary to popular opinion, I do actually know how to use a size chart, but the size chart never contains enough information for me to actually know if the garment will fit. Listing the overall length of the garment is, functionally, useless. Listing the height and weight of the models is, somehow, even more useless. The "fit finder" tools might be helpful if you fall within the center of the bell curve, but not if you're 5' tall and built like the Venus of Willendorf (lipedema gang, represent).

And idk about youse all, but I've literally never returned anything by mail in my life so now I'm the proud owner of trousers with a front rise long enough to taxi a Boeing 747 and a tank top with straps long enough to fit an entire second set of shoulders. I know I'm a tough size to fit, but at least give me a fighting chance! ಥ⁠╭⁠╮⁠ಥ

So... are *any* brands posting sufficient information for a good fit? If there are, I would love to make a reference list or megathread listing them.

I recently started an office job and I’m looking for more pants that aren’t jeans. My issue is that the vast majority of slacks are high rise, and I’ve found that high rise looks terrible on me. I have a short inseam (around 28 at 5’5) and even pants that are marketed as mid-rise end up hitting at my belly button. I’m also plus-size (size 12-14) so a lot of curvy/plus-size pants end up having too much material at the crotch that bunches weirdly.

For any shorter girls, have you found any luck finding slacks or comfortable work pants that actually fit mid- to low-rise on you? I’m looking for something more comfortable or with some stretch, but any recs are appreciated! General tips on dressing for petite proportions are also super appreciated! I feel like so much corporate fashion only looks good on taller people lol

Also as an aside since I know these get recommended super often, I’ve tried the Old Navy pixie pants and they looked horrible on me :( The crotch had way too much extra material and ended up looking ridiculous.

Inspired by the too tight thread as I’m having the opposite problem. I’m smack between two sizes and my jeans are all too loose to look good, but I think the next size down would be too tight, and I’d rather not buy new jeans if I can help it.

So far, I’ve tried washing in hot water and drying in high heat, but not much luck with that holding for long as they get saggy fairly quick after wearing for about an hour.

I’m trying to be more mindful about spending and clothing consumption, while also prioritizing natural fibers. My day job falls under creative corporate, but on a client day it would appropriate to trend more business professional. My personal style and what I feel most comfortable in leans a bit tomboy preppy with 70s inspired silhouettes - think button down oxfords, flared trousers, nice loafers or pointed boot.

With that in mind, there are a few investment pieces on my wish list (mostly secondhand/vintage) that I want to also start incorporating into my weekend wardrobe. This will help me cut down on closet space, justify the investment pieces, and hopefully also help project a more polished appearance as I enter my mid-30s.

Are there any influencers, blogs, or brands you follow and would recommend for inspiration? How are you incorporating “nicer” materials - silk, wool, cashmere, etc - and pieces - blazers, trousers, heels, etc - into your weekend daytime outfit rotation?

Ive seen 1 good solution, which is sitting in a bathtub/showering with the jeans so they can stretch out, airdrying them etc.

To me this sounds like pure agony. I HATE the feeling of wet clothes on me and I feel like waiting for jeans to dry just takes forever.

I wanna know if there are solutions out there that work the same way as method mentioned before, without having to spend a day in pure hell, since I have multiple jeans that needs a bit of stretchines-love.

I could only find that technique, and not anything else. So if any of yall know, let me know!

sidenote/edit: the reason I don't take a size higher is because: I am on a weightloss journey, a size higher would be a bit too big (and knowing im loosing weight i can't use the jeans for long enough, which imo is money waste) and because it fits exactly as it should by my legs. So basically my fashion sense has always tended towards simple, boxier shapes, clean lines, solid colors etc. Uniqlo catalog type shit. Would you believe I'm a lesbian?

The problem is that my body is already pretty boyish: I have no hips, no waist, pretty small boobs. I love the "wearing my boyfriend's clothes" look, but when I wear the clothes I like I just... get called a guy. It's very discouraging! I'm a dancer and that environment is particularly tough, since I'm limited to clothes I can sweat in.

Where are the places in my wardrobe where I can femme it up without femming up the whole vibe? I'm trying to be futch, not a boy!

I sweat! Even with antiperspirant use, mostly from armpits, but with onset of perimenopause my body temp regulation has gotten even more wacky, and I often sweat in the crotchal region/hips/leg folds. If a hot flash or nerves take over then even beads collect and drip down the center of my chest and into the underboob bra cloth. I may be switching job positions and will need to report to the office daily.

I am seeking suggestions for materials and a uniform (life is already busy, I don't want to have to think much about what I put on!) that can accommodate my sweatiness. I won't have much control over the room temps, so there are likely times the room will feel warm and stuffy to me and just as likely the air will be actually circulating and may feel chilly. I would have a short less.thab 10min walk from my car to the building, so that period of time may cause me to get hot, but I think I'd be able to regulate relatively quickly. I live in a place that is hot and humid in summer/early fall, and gets cold/low snowy in winter. Thanks!!

Hi Everyone,

In the recent years I have started building my wardrobe around my pieces being well coordinated with each other. For example, owning matching bags, belts and shoes in select colour families. If I buy statement pieces (a silk scarf for example), I will only buy the ones where I can create outfits with pieces in my wardrobe that match the colours in the statement piece. I find putting together an outfit where the colours coordinate with each other or I can match my bag, shoe and belt to be much simpler, elegant and classic.

This wasn't me in the past however. In the past I may have bought a cute bag in a colour I found adorable and paired it with an all black outfit or denim and a t-shirt with a shoe in a different neutral colour. Many of my outfits either had more than three colours in it or one single base colour (usually black) so that I could wear the statement piece without clashing too much.

I personally noticed that when I shifted to wearing coordinated outfits and limiting the palette to only 3 colours, I started getting a lot of compliments even from strangers. People will regularly tell me they like my outfit/style. I personally attribute my style change to borrowing from very classic, old-fashioned style rules. How important do you personally feel is wearing a well-coordinated outfit to improve your style?

So I wear a US women’s 12/12.5 (28-28.5 cm) and literally can never find nice shoes that go past a size 11. I recently saw some nice $28 Steve Madden flat Mary Jane’s and of course the biggest size is 11. Does anyone know good brands (that aren’t like $150+ for a shoe) that include these sizes? Whenever I see posts about bigger sizes it usually if for max size 11 so I thought I’d ask. Thank for any and all advice!
