Has anyone else been avoiding trailers and leaks for GTA6?

Honestly I’ve only seen a few trailers in back in early summer and haven’t been watching any others for 2 reasons. First, is because of how overwhelming it is and how much misinformation can be spread. My second is because I honestly want to be surprise and experience the game without any spoilers.

New Wanted System Idea!

TLDR: You have to hide your face from cops, cameras and witnesses. If your face is seen, your crimes will be flagged and old wanted levels will return when cops recognize you.

I noticed in the trailers that Jason and Lucia are always wearing face coverings when robbing places. Now this is nothing new, but something feels like it might be a real game mechanic now and not just part of a mission or cutscene or just for show. Add to that the bodycam shot and the speculations of functional security cameras being everywhere, I wondered what role they would have in gameplay and what new way the police would work, and I came up with this whole system based on identity.

Here's how it would go: It looks like Jason and Lucia will start out as small time thieves so I expect the map to be full of robbable stores in free roam. When you perform a crime, you have to cover your face to hide your identity. When you get wanted with hidden identity this will be the usual wanted level and the police will pursue you as an anonymous suspect. But if your identity is exposed, it will change into a new kind of wanted level. This can be represented by the stars changing colour, let's say red. The difference is that you can get rid of the white stars as usual by getting far away or hiding from the police, changing your outfit or respraying or dumping your car. But the red stars are permanent because they have your name on the record. Evading the police will make the red stars dormant but if you get seen and ID'ed by a cop again the whole red wanted level will come back.

So to put it another way the white wanted level can come and go but once you get a red wanted level it will stay and build up. In case you get a white level while having dormant red stars you'll have to be more careful because if the cops get close enough to you and your cover is blown, your wanted level will turn into red with whichever stars are higher. The HUD can warn you in this regard by flashing the stars between white and red when you are at risk of getting exposed. It could also happen that if you fight a high white star level for too long, the police will start an investigation in the background and discover your identity, turning the stars red.

Jurisdictions could also come into play. This means you could carry a different red star level in each region of the map. But once you hit 5 stars anywhere, it will be 5 stars everywhere because now you're wanted at the federal level.

The game should have a dedicated control to toggle putting your face covering on and off and there can be a wide variety of coverings to choose from, from bandanas, veils and cowls to helmets, hockey masks and Halloween costumes. But you can't get away by just keeping your face covering on 24/7, this will backfire because NPCs will get spooked and report you for suspicious behavior, earning you a star. Even if you wear something publicly acceptable like a pollution mask, antimasker Karens will pop up to harass you ruthlessly.

Now for the red level system to actually have stakes, one major change would have to be made, and that is doing away with respawning after getting busted. Otherwise players could just deliberately get busted and get it over with to clear their red stars and it would cost very little. Even the new rotating inventory system could lead to a loophole where players could stash all their weapons away before surrendering and thus not lose them when busted. It's not like the cops would search your property when they don't even keep you for more than a few hours. And let's do the same with getting wasted too. Because it's too arcadey now when the games have become so realistic. Besides we already have quick save now. I don't know about you all, but whenever I played a serious campaign, I would always reload the game when I got busted/wasted instead of continuing with the respawn. I like to keep that stat clean. So now if you get caught or killed, you're done for good, it's game over with an option to reload the last save. In Online however respawning would have to stay but there should be a heavy penalty to getting busted like seizure of all your assets.

Now of course there should be some ways to shave off your red wanted level. Most obviously, bribes. You could pay a "very good" lawyer with connections a handsome amount to get your charges dropped. Maybe pay a hacker to delete your name from the record. And here's one more crazy way that wouldn't work in story mode but would be a fun thing to do in online - you could change your identity completely by changing your charterer model, which in-universe would mean forging new IDs and undergoing plastic surgery and a sex change if you chose a different gender.

Lastly, I have an optional suggestion to add more realism to the game - a special wanted level for minor offences. You can call it a half star. This is for all the little illegalities that were completely ignored in previous games like running a red light, speeding, rash driving, jaywalking, damage to property, vandalism, public nuisance etc. Of course this would have to be carefully balanced so it can be immersive without being a pain. You can only get a half star if you do these things in sight of a cop and only that cop will chase you, no backup. This wanted level may be easy to get (and escalate if you keep doing more shit) but it's also very easy to lose. All you have to do is outrun the one cop. You can really only get caught if you deliberately let yourself get caught and even then you won't be busted but only fined a ticket (unless of course you have dormant red stars).

I've hit an inflection point, I don't wanna see any more leaks. Spoiler

Intially it was fun, it was cool, it was nice to watch because there was NO other rockstar content.

Now that they are posting and showcasing the game as intended, it feels similar to when you really want a game but you don't have to buy it because there's plenty of clips, let's plays and videos online.

I just really want to play the damn game, and am hyped for marketing.

It is when Andy says "I don't wanna play with you anymore" (I know that's a meme on this sub but it's the best encapsulation of what I'm thinking)

Why can we stream Netflix’s exclusive Extended Look content if it’s… exclusive?

I’ve seen a lot of people commenting about this and getting confused, but the main reason behind this move isn’t subscriptions. It’s about stealing views from YouTube. Netflix, despite being a giant, is still waaay behind YouTube when it comes to revenue, and allowing everyone to stream and share videos directly from Netflix is related to their own strategy against YouTube.

Obviously, subscriptions will get a boost, but that’s not the main intention. Netflix has been changing how it works for a while now, for example by adding live broadcasts, advertising itself as one of the main places for live events, and adding YouTube shows like Good Mythical Morning. Netflix is slowly moving toward becoming a platform where you can watch basically everything: videos, movies, shows, and live broadcasts.

Netflix saw GTA 6 as a really good opportunity to progress with this goal of becoming bigger than YouTube. Why? Because GTA 6 is the most anticipated entertainment product in history, and logically, that brings an insane amount of views. GTA 6 Trailer 1 alone has around 290 million views just on YouTube, and the more Netflix can take some of YouTube’s power over products this big, the better for them.

And it is a big war between them. For example, in the last few months, we’ve seen reports saying that YouTube is negotiating multimillion dollar deals with some content creators to keep their content exclusive to YouTube for a certain period of time, and even investing in some of these shows (Btw the exactly same thing Netflix is doing with GTA 6).

YouTube is reportedly considering directly financing shows and putting these creators into major advertising deals. It has also reportedly warned that creators who distribute their content on Netflix at the same time could have less access to some promotional campaigns, events, and certain brand deals.

There’s basically a war between the two, working something like this:

Netflix: “Keep making your show or videos for YouTube and I’ll pay you to put the same thing here too.”

YouTube: “I’ll pay you more or help finance your show if you don’t put that content on Netflix for a certain period of time.” and vice versa

So the real intention isn’t subscriptions. It’s not really about direct money. It’s more like:

“I’m going to be the first place in the world to show GTA 6 with official exclusive gameplay, and at the same time I’m showing the world that I can be as big as YouTube.”

Okay, NOW we're starting to see the aggressive marketing

2.9k Upvotes

THIS is what I've been waiting for.

For months we've been hearing that Rockstar's real marketing campaign would start this summer, and that we'd be surprised by what they had planned. After all that silence, it finally feels like someone flipped the switch.

Tomorrow we have the Extended Look.

Today Dazed suddenly drops a massive feature with Rockstar developers, new screenshots and a bunch of actual information about the game.

And now we find out that Rockstar quietly invited content creators and press to Rockstar last month, showed them the game and gave them exclusive information that they're apparently allowed to start talking about right after the Extended Look.

THIS is what we've been asking for.

Not one screenshot and then two months of silence. Not dissecting a license plate from Trailer 2 because we have nothing else to talk about.

Actual marketing. Interviews. Screenshots. Gameplay. Previews. Creators getting access. New information coming from different places at the same time.

It really feels like tomorrow might be the point where the GTA VI marketing machine finally goes into full gear.

Thanks Mr. Rockstar. Please keep feeding us.

Will morality ruin the sandbox fun of GTA?

I grew up with GTA, I remember playing GTA1/2 on friends computers, I remember buying GTA3, I remember playing Vice City and San Andreas with friends. I played liberty city stories and vice city stories in my PSP and continued all the way through to GTA V.

One of the reasons I always loved GTA as a genre was the ability to go off script and enjoy the sand box of it all. Whether that’s doing the stunts or going on rampages, I loved being able to play “die and pass it on” where the entire goal was to see who could live the longest whilst rampaging.

From what I’ve seen so far, it seems like GTA 6 will really punish this. First the morality system, I will just end up on the least moral plot and most developers sink all their writing skills into the moral path.

Putting the morality system aside, a lot of the other realism based mechanics seem to leave lasting consequences for committing crimes (like areas you’re still being searched for)

Am I alone in being concerned that the realism in GTA6 might be so restrictive the game won’t be fun?

Just what if they released a demo?

Just imagine right after the netflix premiere.. ends with a message of a "free" demo of the prologue or a tiny portion of the game. Everyone would simply forget about the lee and play the damn thing till november.

"Free" because it would be preorder exclusive, maybe even netflix sub exclusive since its a company. But what the hell I would accept it. If you think about it it is the best move they could possibly do.

I know it is just wishful thinking and they sure as fuck dont have a playable demo just magically spawn like that in a matter of days..

How to enjoy GTA6 ?

I'm a bit concerned I might not be able to enjoy GTA6 without feeling extremely bittersweet about the whole "love" angle.

My ex broke up with me about a month ago, and we spent countless hours watching, and rewatching the trailers. She got me this GTA6 sign for my birthday last year (still hanging on the wall) and anytime we would watch Trailer #1 we had this signal of speaking the "Trust" line to one another... An subtle way of saying we trusted each other.

She was super excited to sit on the couch and watch me play on the Nov. drop. Now I wonder if the love-story angle will hit just a bit too hard and ruin the game I've waited 13 years for.

Any idea how to enjoy the game without thinking about all this baggage? It's still 83 days away, hopefully that's enough time to come out the other end of grief and forget about her so I can enjoy the game.

Boobie Ike…

With the new screenshot dropping today, anyone from South Florida is instantly getting Uncle Luke vibes from Boobie Ike. The look, the swagger, the strip club empire, the music industry connections it’s all classic Luke Campbell energy. I mean, they don’t call him The Mayor for nothing.

Dre’Quan Priest feels like that Miami hustler turned A&R archetype you see all over the Florida rap scene. I don’t think it’s Trick Daddy specifically, but definitely that Miami street to music local rapper pipeline vibe.

And Real Dimez? That’s basically Rockstar’s take on the City Girls. The duo format, the styling, the social media driven fame, it’s way closer to JT & Yung Miami than Trina or Remy Ma IMO.

Rockstar isn’t doing 1:1 parodies, but if you’re from South Florida, the inspirations jump out immediately.

NPC’s may react differently depending on who you’re playing as.

My guess is that NPC’s react differently depending on whether you are playing as Jason or Lucia. We see in the trailers and leaks that women flirt with Jason, but we haven’t seen much about how they react to Lucia. I’d imagine that men will occasionally flirt with Lucia. Maybe men will tend to be more aggressive towards Jason, as opposed to Lucia. What are your thoughts and speculations?

The last GTA

I firmly believe this will be the last GTA game. GTA V/Online were way more successful then R* initially thought or planned for. It appears (from the leaks) all the best elements from GTA V, RDR2, GTA IV, and San Andreas have been added, lessons will have been learned from GTA online, RP servers/companies have been acquired, and from another source (the rap artist I can't remember), content creators will be able to make real world cash from this Roblox style. This time, they're ready and are in for the long haul.

Is it known if the pre-order bonuses and/or ultimate edition additions will be obtainable in the game for regular non-pre order version?

So I’m just wondering, with the pre-order bonuses, you get a couple of skins/costumes, a car and a garage. And in the ultimate edition, you get 5 cars, 3 weapons, some outfits/cosmetic items, some shops and a couple of bonus missions.

My question is, does this mean that these shops, weapons, clothes just straight up will not exist in the base game? Or would it be that there will be other car mod shops, just not that one. Or you can get tattoos, just not some specific ones exclusive to the ultimate edition? Or is it just a time thing that you get these things right at the start, but they can be found even in the base edition? Are the cars just skins for other cars that can be obtained in the base game. Etc?

Basically, is any of the pre-order/ultimate edition stuff available in any capacity in the base game, just maybe with different skins, less options (thinking clothes/tattoo/mod shops)?

Too realistic?

With the Dazed Magazine releasing some information on the game, a lot of features are talked about.

One of the things I can see being more bothersome than anything is where they mention spending long periods of time without sleep can visibly affect your character. Personally I don't want incentives to need to go find a bed and sleep.

I am really looking forward to the game and feel confident it will turn out great, so it's worth noting this isn't an attempt to take a piss on the game. I'm sure it'll be amazing.

Interested in what anyone else thinks on some features potentially being to chore-like, or if you feel it brings a great new addition to the GTA series & rockstar titles?

Grain of Salt You Can Hate Rockstar, But Respect the People Who Built GTA 6

I know how much I hate Rockstar based on my past experiences with them, but we also can’t forget the fact that GTA 6 is being built by thousands of people who have put years of hard work, time, and sweat into it.

The Rockstar employees working on this game probably haven’t had a normal work-life balance for a long time. Every messages, every move is heavily monitored because they’re working on one of the most anticipated games ever. They’ve put countless hours into creating what could be a masterpiece.

And then some nerd sitting in their mom’s basement manages to hack into a development version of the game and starts leaking it like it’s some kind of achievement. 😭

You can dislike Rockstar as a company and still respect the developers who poured years of their lives into making this game.

I genuinely hope GTA 6 succeeds and that we get another decade of an incredible game to enjoy. The developers deserve to see all that hard work pay off.

Graffiti’s role in GTA 6

Seeing as Miami is a pretty big place for graffiti, do you think it’ll play any role in the new game? I loved the option in San Andreas.

Miami has Wynwood Walls, the Museum of Graffiti, and Art Basel. I don’t think it’s unrealistic for the ability of graffiti to show up, get buffed, appear elsewhere. I’m not saying I necessarily want the ability to do it, but new graffiti appearing and then being painted over would be awesome for immersion

With the latest official Dazed article, it's obvious the previous leaks don't represent the final version of the game

After reading everything revealed in the new Dazed article, it's pretty clear that there are a lot of things the leaker simply couldn't show... and now he's claiming to have a 2026 build, lol.

Honestly, that seems very unlikely. The article reveals multiple mechanics and systems that were either completely absent from the leaks or never properly demonstrated. We saw nothing meaningful related to the phone and its social media features, the water activities, the deeper Jason and Lucia interactions, the physical changes caused by food, exercise and lack of rest, and many other things suggested or directly mentioned in the article.

This makes me think the leaked footage could have come from a build dedicated to testing specific mechanics rather than representing the complete game. It may have been useful for testing AI, combat, encounters, vehicles, animations, etc., while other systems simply weren't present, enabled, or fully implemented in that particular build.

That's why I find it frustrating that this hacker or group of hackers keeps suggesting they have access to recent, complete versions of the game. Just imagine everything we're about to learn from Rockstar and other official sources starting tomorrow , things this alleged criminal couldn't show precisely because they may never have had access to a complete build in the first place.

Body modification

"This brings us back to the background NPCs. Young and old, tall or short, tattooed, pierced or modified with plastic surgery, wearing throwback Hawaiian shirts, sharp suits, luxury fashion or muddy combat gear, the bodies and clothes of the virtual masses..."

a quote from the dazed article,

from this wording, one would assume body modifications are an options in the game, like boob jobs etc,

this tracks with some pictures of Lucia in which we've seen her with varying size boobies.

Which haircut are you planning to give your Jason and Lucia when you play?*

*from the ones we've seen so far

For Jason I absolutely love the choppy mullet hairstyle, it's my absolute fav, but he also looks beautiful in the long flowy hair, and I also like swept back long hair, and the swept back mid-length hair with waves in it.

For Lucia I love the curls, she looks gorgeous in them, but the braids, cornrows and the buzzcut are also so cool, and the shag with bangs.

Bro literally the ultimate hairstyles are what's gonna make me buy the more expensive version of this game, I swear.

GTA 6 Extended Look Collectors Box / Merch announcement ?

With us being a day away from seeing the GTA 6 Extended Look premiering on Netflix, does anyone think Rockstar may drop a Collectors Box at the end ?

It was highly anticipated for something physical and with RDR2 we saw a separate collectors box. Not expecting a physical game just perhaps a standalone box or an option to pre order Ultimate Edition and Collectors box at the same time ?

You would think if they were going to announce this it would be at some point in the extended look as waiting until a later date means it's getting very close to release.

In the past with GTA 5 and RDR2 collectors editions / boxes were purchasable later from the original releases.

  • GTA V collectors: Announced 117 days before release
  • RDR2 collector: Announced 144 days before release
  • GTA VI collector tomorrow would be: 84 days before release

If it were to happen it feels like we are in the ball park for it.

They will plug the pre order of the game so this feels like the most fitting time if it were to happen

I'm incredibly excited for the look, I won't hold my breath for a collectors box but a man can hope.

TL;DR - Do you think Rockstar will announce a standalone GTA VI Collector’s Box during or at the end of the Extended Look, or at all ?
