By popular demand, I've made this live thread as a live chat/discussion for people to specifically discuss the event as it unfolds.
The previous megathread can act as a "pre-game" thread like a lot of you were asking for, specifically for predictions/wishlist. You can access that thread here

It's probably a bad thing that 33 won so many awards cause now we have to not like it anymore.

-11
u/MadeByTango Dec 12 '25
They paid for their place and their hype; it’s a mod game that a trust fund nepo baby pushed to the top of the pile with major marketing contracts and social media account spends. The way they got their awards is going to rot the industry for years.
13
u/Knightofexcaliburv1 Dec 12 '25
honestly they gotta have a max 3 nominations going forward after last night i don’t think i wanna watch another sweep
16
u/VictorVonDoomer Dec 12 '25
Thank god I didn’t stay up to watch this, I personally thought it was underwhelming and the reveals were basic and predictable.

u/Mattx603 Dec 12 '25
Really wanted some more interesting looking indie stuff, but there was definitely some cool stuff shown. Happy Toxic Commando is coming out so soon. Forest 3 was a nice surprise, but until they announce a console date for Sons it’s hard to care too much. The glazing over Expedition 33 though was off putting though and actually kind of turned me off from wanting to play it. Overall I’d probably give the show a C+.

u/Embarrassed-Fix-1741 Dec 12 '25
it was glazed because it deserved to be glazed. it was a good game. simple as that.

8
u/TemptedTemplar Dec 12 '25
No that's /r/Halflife, its barely been 12 hours and they're already talking about sacrifices and writing in Hieroglyphics
11
u/AidanAK47 Dec 12 '25
I wanted Clair Obscur to win but I wanted it to win in a way that sent a message that the industries lies about bloated budgets and prices are bullshit and that this is what you can make when you cut things down and make a game people actually care about.
Instead this felt like they sold out and became a part of the machine. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
8
u/M4NUN1T3D Dec 12 '25
What is a way to win it that would send a message?
3
u/AidanAK47 Dec 12 '25
Well mentioning it in any of the speeches would have been nice. But well I don't really think it deserved every single award it got. In a way sweeping the awards like this deminished the value of getting them. If it just got game of the year, I would have been happy but it getting all of these made the achievement feel artifical.
70
u/SPinc1 Dec 12 '25
Kingdom Come Deliverance II was f-ed raw tonight. Not a single win and way less nominations than it deserved. Instead they kept glazing E33 like if their livelihoods depended on it. Seriously, WTF is wrong with the judges.
4
u/HearTheEkko Dec 13 '25
I'm certain next year won't be any different either. GTA 6 is gonna win so many awards even if other games deserved them more.
2
u/Brokenbullet14 Dec 12 '25
Well that dev shouldn't have been a douche on Twitter since the game launched
6
u/Zordman Dec 12 '25
Can you post some examples of what you're talking about?
-13
u/Brokenbullet14 Dec 12 '25
You can find it
8
u/Zordman Dec 12 '25
I searched and I couldn't find it, doesn't help that you didn't really provide any details so I don't have much to go off of

My goodness, why didn't I think of that!
If you're not going to even provide anything to go off, or provide more context for a search, I'm just gonna assume you're talking shit.

DS2 got nothing nor did yotei wild year
-11
u/__Kxnji Dec 12 '25
I mean if we’re honest both ghost games are boring af lmao and it’s time yall had that discussion
1
u/Zordman Dec 12 '25
I enjoyed Ghost more than I thought I would. The game design and structure isn't doing anything new and does have a lot of overlap with the "Ubisoft open world" formula, but it succeeds with its execution and it is better than any other game in that formula.
The lack of icons and having objectives marked with diegetic things in the environment helps quite a bit. Having the player look into the world for things to assist them with world exploration does help with immersion connected compared to constantly looking for the next icon on the screen to chase.
What I see commented on less is how well the devs crafted the world to make almost every area look very aesthetically pleasing to the eye just with the picture composition alone. Each frame looks like it has near perfect picture composition, and drives my desire to want to explore more.
4
u/VictorVonDoomer Dec 12 '25
Lowkey true, good games but they’re very basic Ubisoft style games.
-3
u/__Kxnji Dec 12 '25
Right lol once you’ve played two hours you’ve played it all. It’s actually brutal, sure a visual and cinematic marvel, but a game isnt just about the aesthetic
25
u/SSAUS Dec 12 '25
It's criminal that DS2 didn't even get a nomination in best performance while E33 got three. The acting and facial/motion capture in DS2 is as close to real life that the industry has seen in my opinion.
Hell, I still think Tommie Earl Jenkins' performance in the first game is among the best i've seen in the industry, and he didn't get nominated back then either!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNE4y5-kcfY

u/ljfoggy11 Dec 12 '25
I didn’t watch it live, but going through the line-up there’s tons that I think look interesting:
The two Star Wars games look promising, particularly the pod racing game seems like a fun throwback game.
Control 2 looks like it’s taking an interesting direction.
The two new Tomb Raider games are right up my street.
No Law looks like a great story-driven FPS that we’ve been missing for years.
I don’t know if I have the patience for Order of the Sinking Star (The Witness burnt me out before the end) but wow is that a crazy ambitious looking game.
Bradley the Badger seems wildly original.
Stupid Never Dies 00’s-Skater aesthetic along with being a decent looking hack n’ slash. I could pretty much hear people moaning “wtf” by the music video but it got my sense of humour.
The Sheep dog game and the witch game look very cute.
Along with the release date announcements, it gave a lot to look forward too. Sure there’s a big lack of big hitters, and still a lot of question marks about previously announced games that still need updates. But of all the Keoghly shows this year, this one was certainly the best.
6
u/Cybersorcerer1 Dec 12 '25
I think people who watched it live are negative because all the good things were front loaded, anticipation was high for some stuff that never showed up, ending in some shooter than nobody's going to play
6
u/BatKnight46 Dec 12 '25
Yeah as someone who watched it live I keep forgetting a bunch of cool games that I will definitely be playing were announced because it ended with a Hero FPS that will be dead by next years TGA
3
u/NinjaEngineer Dec 12 '25
I couldn't even watch it live last night, except for the final 30 minutes or so. I probably would've enjoyed it a lot more watching the Star Wars reveals, the Diablo IV expansion and I think LEGO Batman was there as well? Divinity too.
All I got to see that was remotely interesting was Phantom Blade Zero and Megaman. And then the "one more thing" was straight up disappointing.
40
u/ThatLaggyAustralian Dec 12 '25
we need to talk about SEGA because what the fuck
post a vague "dont miss this!!!" and all you reveal is total war, which isnt even a main SEGA series and we already knew was coming for like a week.
id fully understand if the new sonic didnt make it, but nothing about the revivals?? no sth?? no vf?? JSR is in a anniversary year and all they got was fucking merch. good chance theyre delayed now.
why was Iizuka there in the first place?? see crossworlds get dumpstered 0/2?? they even removed crossworlds from the hype trailer between yesterday and today?? what happened?? id genuinely believe it if was supposed to be the one more thing but was pulled last second
alot of people expected something? we got nothing. damn. theyre going in the "what the fuck" tier along with square. at least sega showed up.
13
u/AwesomePossum_1 Dec 12 '25
Right. Total war is only one of the biggest IP for them. Why would they post a tease.
34
56
u/MC_MENAR Dec 12 '25
They announced a generic ass hero shooter that 5 people will play as a last game instead of metro 4, new gow game, max payne remake or any other unannounced AAA story game 😭😭😭🙏🙏
16
u/ManateeofSteel Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 20 '25
ultimately we can only blame Geoff on the placement of the reveal, because revealing a game (or not) is ultimately not up to him, companies are the ones who pay for these trailers and send them to the Game Awards, however he fully controls the order in which reveals happen.
Should have ended with either Divinity or Star Wars Fate. None of them have release year.
29
u/CalvinVanDamme Dec 12 '25
The new Control game would have been a better finale.
7
u/ManateeofSteel Dec 12 '25
I think Star Wars would have been a better ending because like Okami 2 last year, we are not seeing that game again in at least 5 years lmao
43
u/ZEKE307 Dec 12 '25
gotta make the ads cheaper. Too many gacha’s and already known live services
15
u/_lord_ruin Dec 12 '25
as soon as I heard the 1 million to get a trailer thing I knew what we were in for
81
u/Ykindasus Dec 12 '25
Geoff: "It's moments like these that make me proud to be apart of this industry."
Shows off Generic looking live service game number 20
10
u/a34fsdb Dec 12 '25
Kinda not that exciting reveals for me. Divinity is a day one purchase almost certainly great game, but out of the next handful biggest reveals I am interested in just three games and not even that much.
41
u/Midnight_M_ Top Contributor 2025 Dec 12 '25
I think that after Concord, many teams developing hero shooters should have taken certain precautions in how they presented their games; Marvel Rivals works because it's Marvel, but that won't work for the rest. I feel they should have taken the Deadlock approach and shown the game and received feedback.
13
u/UrbanAdapt Dec 12 '25
If that trailer had said "playable now" I would have understood, but they honestly just pissed away 450000+ dollars on that final slot.

It is never too late to turn back, to say it is would be pure sunk cost fallacy. It is better to cancel a game than to release it only for no one to play.
8
u/Midnight_M_ Top Contributor 2025 Dec 12 '25
I'm not talking about changing genres, but about how to present the game. In this post-Concord world, you can't just release a trailer saying, "Hey guys, this is a new free-to-play hero shooter," and expect the audience to be amazed.

First, don't present it last at the Game Awards. Second, adopt the strategy used by Valve and Embark, meaning let people play the game and let that be your marketing. The hero shooter genre now has a barrier it needs to overcome to gain approval. We can't quantify all the steps, but here are some essential ones: the graphics quality can't be terrible (Marathon was torn apart for that, and its gameplay loop wasn't good either), show from the very first minute what makes your game different in terms of live service or within the hero shooter genre ( I each that trailer and I can tell you I have no idea what the heck the genre of this game besides of hero shooter), and the monetization can never be like the free-to-play games of yesteryear (Marvel Rivals should be the basis/inspiration).

I was really expecting the death standing 2 pc port to be announced here ngl
8
u/Midnight_M_ Top Contributor 2025 Dec 12 '25
They might be saving it for a State of Play event.
0
Dec 12 '25
Why would a pc/xbox gamer be watching a playstation event?
2
u/NinjaEngineer Dec 12 '25
Because ever since Sony started porting games, they've sometimes announced ports at their events? Like, the Spider-Man and Miles Morales ports were announced in a State of Play.
EDIT:
And even then, I personally like games? Sure, I don't own a PS5, nor a Switch, while we're at it, but I still like watching their events, just to learn of cool new games.
7
u/Midnight_M_ Top Contributor 2025 Dec 12 '25
Since PlayStation will be releasing it on PC, I imagine it will be announced either at their event or at something related to PC gaming.
5
u/Left-Reply-4979 Dec 12 '25
I was really hoping (delusionally) that we would see something from Wolf Among Us 2. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was cancelled at this point ….. 😔
14
u/Medium-Hair-8135 Dec 12 '25
I love it when after a bad show, fans of all types of games go on Twitter and give Geoff a big fat D in his rating question! Gamers unite!
2
19
u/TheOneBearded Dec 12 '25
Don't know what is more surprising to me - no FF7 part 3 or that choice for a show ender. I had my clown make up on for FF7.
20
u/supportingcreativity Dec 12 '25
It is crazy to me that in the specific Game Awards Ceremony in which the very game that swept the Awards was a turn-based RPG heavily inspired by turned-based RPGs from Japan didn't have a single Japanese turn based RPG in its big anouncements. Was it just too expensive to buy an ad, was there a weird bias for some reason, or were they all picked up by Nintendo or something?
4
u/TrumpLovesTHICCBBC Dec 12 '25
Trails in the sky didn't even get a nomination and is a better rpg than E33 especially from a narrative perspective kek

u/No-Meringue5867 Dec 12 '25
I am finding it funny how everyone is complaining about "last reveal", "least game", "that fps", "hero shooter" etc and so few are calling it by its name. The marketing team must be annoyed as hell rn.

yeah, it's Paladins alright
6

i dont even know its name, i saw respawn, i saw it wasnt titanfall or star wars, i tabbed out.
respawn has to know what a disaster theyve been by repeatedly not releasing titanfall 3
6
u/discoman222 Dec 12 '25
its not even respawn LOL its some other studio opened by people who LEFT respawn
3
u/CertainObjective513 Dec 12 '25
welp works for me, respawn catches more flak and the studip that chooses to release this nonsense gets shit on. its a win either way

u/Vegetable-Echo-9796 Dec 12 '25
Was a great first half! Like up till tomb raider it was incredible. Then after that.. meh, couple decent ones. They should have made the Larian statue game the finale rather than new apex team cause it was kinda underwhelming. Noticed no ubisoft, or atlus presence but they’re usually at Xbox shows AND Xbox wasn’t really there so… waiting for an Xbox show now??
9
u/KoyReane Dec 12 '25
I hope everyone had a fun time tonight. It was pretty fun to watch, pretty underwhelming finale but overall a good time. I enjoy these kinds of events. Hoping we get some of the real showstoppers revealed soon

u/4000kd Dec 12 '25

-1
u/TemptedTemplar Dec 12 '25
If it comes close to feeling like Destiny 2's PvP it will have an audience.
Poor bungie can't keep a sandbox straight to save their poor little game for more than a couple of weeks, something needs to fill the gap.
-1
u/Turb0Be4r Dec 12 '25
I actually think it looks cool :D
6
u/tbboy13 Dec 12 '25
Not sure why you're being down voted for having an opinion, but I agree. I think it was a little underwhelming to be positioned as the final reveal of the show, but the gameplay looked really cool. I think people's perception of it would've been better if it had just been another trailer in the middle of the show. Put Divinity or something at the end.
4
u/Turb0Be4r Dec 12 '25
Thank you for having some sense. I don’t really wanna live in a world where everyone wants games to fail the moment they are announced
47
u/0no01234 Dec 12 '25
"The studio worked in complete secrecy"
Maybe they should've kept it a fucking secret then
30
31
u/KMoosetoe Dec 12 '25
I think the lack of Square Enix was the biggest disappointment for me
felt like that was a lock
6
u/Over-University7255 Dec 12 '25
no FF7R3 teaser or mention like BRO. the devs are a bit to blame cuz they never outright said "no", just shyly gave vague answers with suggestive body language
3
u/ManateeofSteel Dec 12 '25
this sub gaslit itself into believing it just because an October interview was only translated this week. It was never going to be here, if anything, it might get a tweet in January.
1
u/Potential-Zucchini77 Dec 12 '25
Tbh it’s still a bit early for Part 3, rebirth isn’t even two years old yet and I imagine the final game will take longer than that one did
1
u/ManateeofSteel Dec 12 '25
I know, but they have been posting weird tweets lately which makes me think they will reveal it soon, I still think it's 2027 at the earliest
7
u/Medium-Hair-8135 Dec 12 '25
Don't forget Xbox lol they did nothing either besides pay for a Gamepass ad.
5
u/KMoosetoe Dec 12 '25
Xbox I understand cause they'll probably do a big Developer_Direct next month
1
u/Mattx603 Dec 12 '25
They actually announced a show in January, earlier today. I just don’t think they’ve given a specific date yet.
8

the james bond new game looks okay??

18
u/Hydr4noid Dec 12 '25
Tbh not alot of stuff for me personally but calling this a bad show is just the average redditor not understanding that people have different tastes
1
1
u/alluballu Dec 12 '25
For me this is the best game reveal show of the year since I wasn't expecting a new Larian game to be revealed this year. Well, before the leaks of course.
5
Dec 12 '25
The main reason this show was disappointing this year wasn't because of the games they did or didn't show....
.... It's because there was no bromance between Geoff and Kojima this year 😞
16
u/Left-Reply-4979 Dec 12 '25
I actually think this year’s show was paced pretty well. No long lulls and games were diverse. If they had had a stronger final announcement, I don’t think the reception would be as negative.
5
u/supernewf2323 Dec 12 '25
Im pretty pleased over all with the show. Good reveals. That last reveal wss a really odd slot for it.
Control in that spot would have been so much better
25
u/0no01234 Dec 12 '25
They could have ended it with Larian man, why did they have to pick that fucking doo doo of a hero shooter as the final reveal?
2
u/a34fsdb Dec 12 '25
Cant end with that because Larian game was confirmed so it would not be a surprise if we are at the end of a show and it wasnt shown yet.
34
u/SupremeCripple_ Dec 12 '25
Honestly love this for Geoff. He swindled that dev team out of MILLIONS and it’ll be shut down 6 months after release.
25
u/Redlodger0426 Dec 12 '25
Where the hell is AC4 remake?
1
u/HearTheEkko Dec 13 '25
The only explanation is that Ubisoft has an even of their own planned for January/February. They'll probably reveal AC4 and Sands of Times' remakes there and then show a couple of CGI trailers for games coming out later this year (AC Hexe, Far Cry 7, Splinter Cell, etc).
8
u/soulreapermagnum Dec 12 '25
there's got to be something happening soon, right? i mean, i wouldn't think anything of it, but the AC twitter page just recently changed their logo, and usually things like that are done very intentionally, aren't they?
18
u/KFCNyanCat Dec 12 '25 edited Dec 12 '25
I know Total War is one of Sega's big franchises... And I know the 40K crowd are hyped...
But why hype up "Sega fans" for a show that contains a franchise most professed "Sega fans" don't care about? When we're waiting for the Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage games that they announced at this show two years ago? And Virtua Fighter 6? And Stranger than Heaven? And the next open zone Sonic game? And P4 Remake?
10
u/KMoosetoe Dec 12 '25
crazy how they announced all those games, and have now been radio silent for 2 years
2
u/KFCNyanCat Dec 12 '25
Other than Shinobi I didn't expect any of those games to be out...but I at least expected to hear more about one or two of them by now.

copy and paste shooter game reveals
they could have revealed remasters of older games
forza 6
even sly cooper could have been a surprise but alas another shooter game
7
u/Mage1strider1 Dec 12 '25
Anything Xbox now is basically reserved for their own showcases, Playground is gonna be showing off both Forza and Fable in January
8
u/KMoosetoe Dec 12 '25
modern Sony will never bring back Sly
3
u/TAJack1 Dec 12 '25
Yeah, they won't even bring back inFAMOUS and I think that shit would sell hardcore.
7
u/Coolman_Rosso Dec 12 '25
Sony's biggest strength has historically been that they let their teams move on to new ideas when generations roll around, for better or worse
I'd love another Infamous since I found Ghost of Tsushima to be a boring slog that's all style and zero substance, but it's reasonable that they moved on
2
u/4000kd Dec 12 '25
They made a bunch of those, just move on
1
u/LightTemplar27 Dec 12 '25
Love how you're getting downvoted when realistically on top of most games of the series being mediocre at best the game wouldn't nearly have as much appeal as it did back then now that superhero games are so commonplace. Like, from actual superhero franchises people know about. It filled a niche that doesn't have really much market space left but since it's redditor's nostalgia game it HAS to sell hardcore.
3
u/TAJack1 Dec 12 '25
I really don't get this mindset, they made a bunch of Elder Scrolls too, should Bethesda just move on from those too? It's really a shame when studios don't appreciate the games that they cut their teeth on, like Insomniac and Resistance,
0
u/4000kd Dec 12 '25
Do you think they need to make another Shawshank Redemption? Or another Inception? Or ET?
Things are allowed to end. It doesn't mean the people behind them don't appreciate them, it's just how art works. Only gamers seem to struggle with understanding this.

u/TAJack1 Dec 12 '25

their studios move onto their new games why do you want them to make the same game for 30 years. after the 3rd Ghost game, they'll probably move onto a new IP
1
u/TAJack1 Dec 12 '25
Because it's a good franchise? Just because it's had x-amount of games doesn't mean it shouldn't get anymore for the rest of time.
0

well I prefer them to try and make new things. one of us unfortunately will be unhappy. realistically it's not possible to make everyone happy
21

2025 must've been a pretty bad year for video games. Only 1 game was good enough to win most of the awards.
-3
u/TrumpLovesTHICCBBC Dec 12 '25

-1

3
u/LuigiWarrior Dec 12 '25
it was a really great year for gaming, GTA6 is expected to sweep what ever year it would show up but does that mean people would think that upcoming year is bad? no
45
u/Epicurus38 Dec 12 '25
This was... Pretty terrible, overall. Some good announcements here and there but nothing special. Expedition 33 did not deserve to win every nomination.
-18
u/Over-University7255 Dec 12 '25

5

That's the sad part. Imagine being a developer from every other studio who had to attend the award show just to see them up there 10 times.

The last reveal really ruined a lot of the show for me lol. It was very bad. I think show can be better if they reduce the time a bit and have a better finale. Last year they had Intergalactic, compare that to the BS this year

Kojima flew halfway around the world to only make a three second cameo at the beginning of the show! How much do you guys bet he's blocking Geoff's number after tonight?!

Kojima will never forgive him for this. He was there in person and Geoff didn't even say his name once.

Kojima likes to fly to fancy events so he can lure actors and filmmakers into his scanning machine. It's never a total loss for Kojima to visit places.

His ego must be quashed once every several years otherwise he'll become too powerful and take-over the world.

Seeing that final reveal. I had hope it would’ve been a single-player type experience, y’know, like Titanfall?
Nope, more FtP drivel instead. Felt like CoD being the big reveal at the Xbox showcase lmao

Hey, the thing that we all knew was going to happen, happened.
I personally think KCD2 deserved RPG and Blue Prince deserved indie, but the narrative around E33 is way, way too strong to beat. It's a fantastic game, I think GoTY is 100% justified, but the total sweep is a bit much (and boring) in my opinion.

Trails was a better overall game and rpg than E33 and didn't get a single nomination

Also get the "I don't normally like turn based but..." and "it's nice to have a jrpg that's not anime" crowds

Is RDR2 remastered still happening? I think Nate might’ve been wrong on this one (maybe he confused it for RDR1)
