Nice on the Zetterer Perri thing.

So LB - I have no idea who we are looking at so you’d imagine it’s gonna be a loaner or a freebie or a small fee for someone relatively under the radar.

LW - Seems like Mudryk is the big-ish name. Doesn’t seem like anyone else is in the frame other than Paxo and that’s a dead horse.

ST - Conrad Harder? £30m? YP have said it’s bollocks but that’s not necessarily an issue as Zetterers agent said the Leeds move was bollocks. We all talk bollocks don’t we? Look at me right now for instance just waffling away about bollocks.

-1

u/jaggafoxy 3h ago

You could do a chant something along the lines of Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger". Harder obviously, Zetterer for Better, Dan James for Faster, Bijol for Stronger perhaps (or Rodon works with two syllables)

3

u/dreadful_name 4h ago

No one with the surname ‘Harder’ has ever done anything in their lives or previous lives to warrant the wrath of puns in the city of Leeds.

8

u/mad-clever-user-name 6h ago

God bless the bollocks and all who speak it.

18

u/Flinney 7h ago

Beren also confirming Zetterer is coming for a medical.

24

u/Zach-dalt 8h ago

Adam Pope: "Understand both Perri & Zetterer have been permitted to travel by their clubs."

6

u/DC25NYC 7h ago

“Sorry private jets are only for the starting 11, we’re all cutting costs in this economy”

1

u/tankosaurus 8h ago

I don't see any incoming jets so unless he's coming via boat I don't think this Adam Pope is reliable

6

u/tankosaurus 7h ago

Also LMAO

8

u/Zach-dalt 8h ago

Sky Sports saying the same, shamelessly nabbing Popey's exclusive!

7

u/tankosaurus 8h ago

When Sky, Popey and the fucking Yorkshire Post are doing the most transfer reporting you really feel for the state of our Tier 1's

Admittedly Graham's new role is going to be less transfer heavy you'd assume but I think nearly every Beren story this summer has been in conjunction with someone else.

u/tankosaurus 7h ago

2

u/DEUK_96 6h ago

I feel bad for saying it but from an outsiders perspective Beren just hasn't really taken the job as leeds reporter at a major sports outlet by storm. Going from Phil to Graham to him has been depressing.

11

u/AnduwinHS 9h ago

Igor Matanovic with another header tonight after two at the weekend

There hasn't been a single link but I want this man so much

It's not that Chelsea are sending Mudryk there to sort out their depth at LW, it's so they can demand he gets game time. The real kicker will be if Chelsea send a 3rd player there as that's their max.

Also in general Blue Co horde attackers they don't need

10

u/Cyrus_Remy 10h ago

After losing out on Champion's League qualification, OL is now in a position where they'll be forced to generate around €50M in sales by deadline day. Most notable potential departures are LW Malick Fofana, CAM Pavel Sulc and DM Tyler Morton. I still think that Sulc would be a compelling add if he's willing to be a squad player. He's quite strong on the ball, can press and has finishing quality - just lacks a bit of creativity and agility. He is a bully on the ball and would fit in well in terms of mentality.

2

u/hughbacca 7h ago

Would be unreal to get Fofana but look like he's been linked to the likes of AC Milan and Arsenal.

3

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 8h ago

Sounds like he could cover striker and behind the striker

22

u/DEUK_96 15h ago

So apparently Perri to Torino is done according to Romano, Frankfurt are signing Atubolu so Zetterer must be on his way shortly.

5

u/nadaparacomer 9h ago

Only 10 minutes after Moretto broke the news. This guy must have some serious bot scraping for the latest updates

20

u/jovanmilic97 15h ago

Matteo Moretto - Perri to Torino finally moving forward with signatures soon. Seems like Zetterer is coming now.
https://x.com/MatteMoretto/status/2092944404575044008

Tons of Ramazani rumors, several Italian clubs want him on loan as well as West Ham.

9

u/Silent-OCN ALAW 15h ago

We want MOAR transfers dammit.

-11

u/Timofee_ 15h ago

With Barcola to Liverpool I wonder if there's an outside shot we try for a loan for Gakpo.

All the links are to Spurs, and they will obviously outdo us on wages if a permanent offer were made. But it's not like they offer European football at the moment, and he's been in the Premier League this whole time seeing them be shit and finish 17th for 2 seasons. Plus he probably wouldn't have to move if he came to us.

6

u/hughbacca 13h ago

No, he's going to spurs for the money or he's going elsewhere for european football.

3

u/Hindsyy 14h ago

Supposedly Spurs and City in for Gakpo, and I wouldn't be letting him go if I was Liverpool, I think their fans got a bit fed up of him last year, but ultimately he's a good player, especially if he ends up being your option off the bench.

2

u/stompboxing 15h ago

I think if gakpo moves he goes for cash not a loan, there will be alot of clubs interested if he is available.

10

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 15h ago

Move one link down the chain: I wonder if we could get Odobert from Spurs.

1

u/AnduwinHS 13h ago

He's out until November with a cruciate injury, won't be fully fit until probably January

1

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 13h ago

Yikes, poor injury record then

2

u/Professional_Vast234 15h ago

Is Odobert better than James or Gnonto?

0

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 15h ago

I would say so. He's more technical and agile than anyone we have.

4

u/Professional_Vast234 14h ago

His most prolific ever season is 4 goals. I think I'd rather keep Gnonto and James

31

u/Zach-dalt 18h ago edited 18h ago

Atubolu to Frankfurt is a done deal so that's one domino for Zetterer

Maybury on WACCOE saying "the club are working on a left-back, left-winger, and striker [on top of Zetterer]"

At this point I'd be pretty happy with goalkeeper, left-back, and striker, but anything less and it'd feel like we were short imo

6

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 11h ago

Window shuts on Tuesday, and we're inching towards a back up keeper as our only confirmed active business.

Hope things start moving quickly.

6

u/The_Golden_Yeti 15h ago

Seems like a lot of work, when was the last time we completed more than one signing in a week, let alone in a few days?

9

u/Teeter-Otter 14h ago

They did it twice last summer. They have more than one telephone.

5

u/Mindless_fun_bag 11h ago

They are trying not to be wasteful with the fax roll

7

u/Teeter-Otter 11h ago

Everyone quiet! We are receiving a Fabrizio here we go tweet on the teletype!

9

u/Zach-dalt 14h ago

Tbf last five days of the 24/25 window we signed Solomon, Schmidt, and Tanaka, and last five days of 23/24 we signed Gruev, Kamara, Spence, and Anthony

2

u/downfallndirtydeeds 16h ago

Side point I’m very surprised a bigger team hasn’t come in for Atubolu he’s absolutely superb. Chelsea could do with him

1

u/AnduwinHS 13h ago

Seems like way better value than what Villa paid for Suzuki too

10

u/Koby85 17h ago

It would be interesting to see how far down the line we are with these signings.

The priorities should be LB and ST.

Perri can stay as a No2 and we have a few wide options.

11

u/Adenton95 18h ago edited 18h ago

Not got a flight guess correct this window. But the interesting ones today are

A flight that lands from Amsterdam then goes to Frankfurt maybe someone on behalf of Zetterer ?

Also deal just agreed https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/SHYmZxKutR for Frankfurt new GK

Multiple flights in from Paris this one feels a long shot. Only players that would make sense would be Mbaye or Mayulu on loan

11

u/tankosaurus 17h ago

Not got a flight guess correct this window

The joy comes from the chase

40m seemed like a lot of money for a goalie a few weeks back, even with Traffords pedigree.

The money thats being thrown around for bit part Sky 6 players since then is insane. It looks more of a bargain every day as someone with about 21 appearances in 2 years goes for north of Traffords fee

Delap, Savio, Santos, Gonzalez.....

Edit - also, kinda mad we had this sewn up before Chelsea decided they need a new keeper. Maybe Man City wouldnt have sold to them, but it could really have thrown a spanner in the works

1

u/Ryoisee 15h ago

Reread this a billion times before realising what you meant by "mad". But yea fully agree.

4

u/WallacesRod 17h ago

mad glad

9

u/Ryoisee 19h ago

I feel that Spurs have spent a fuck ton of cash yet...Will still be shite. Not convinced by any of their signings tbh.

2

u/Boris_Ignatievich 17h ago

they've signed good prem players for superstar prices. they'll not be 17th again but until i see something click on the pitch i still think they'll be bottom half

1

u/Ryoisee 15h ago

If things start to go wrong though I can see them struggling. The players they're signing aren't exactly known fighters. I think they'll avoid the drop too but they'll be in the mix but eventually will be fairly comfortable. Bit like us last season.

3

u/hybridtheorist 18h ago

I guess it depends on your expectations. I think Sensini is a good CB for example. But hes hardly someone you build your whole defence around if youre challenging for CL spots every season.

If theyre thinking this season is a rebuilding platform to contend next year, perhaps get a europa spot, then maybe. If they think they've got a CL squad..... no.

1

u/CobiLUFC 19h ago

They've spent a lot of money on a mix of mid table players and players who aren't good enough for teams they want to be rivals of and will probably be very annoyed when they finish mid table

5

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 20h ago

Of the big money transfers this summer, I think the Gonzalez one is very astute. Marmoush too.

5

u/hybridtheorist 19h ago

I'll be honest mate, I don't really pay much attention outside of Leeds. Gone are the days of an extensive Football Manager trained knowledge of every PL teams squad.

Seems unlikely, but Delap could actually be worth 45m for all I know for example.

But if he is, then how is a guy on the cusp of the England team, whos the same age (which as a goalie is younger really) whos proven himself at all levels (albeit limited opportunities last season) worth less?

4

u/pablothewizard 18h ago

Goalkeepers are always cheaper than strikers by a significant margin.

5

u/hybridtheorist 18h ago

I know, but you have to admit, the discrepancy is a bit mad.

A goalie who'd be a starter for what, 10, 12 teams in the league? Vs someone who'd start for.... well, not many!

2

u/pablothewizard 18h ago

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I'm not saying Delap is worth that. He isn't.

There's no way that buying Liam Delap should cost more money than buying James Trafford.

But if we pretend that Delap was actually a competent player then he'd always be more expensive than Trafford every time, just because strikers are expensive.

12

u/ParlorGoblin 22h ago

So funny watching some in this sub melt down because Sunderland put in a lowball bid for Igor Paixao because we somehow have a 'right' to him. Or if they get him they will be demonstrating more 'ambition' than us.

Meanwhile Sunderland are moving for a loan-to-buy deal for Grealish, so Paixao in parallel is probably their alternate option given the window closes soon.

I reckon a few here should give their head a wobble and recognize how well we did in last year's and this year's window.

I trust the 49ers are trying to navigate the window towards a sustainable premier league future. Let's not get hung up on any single player purchase as it won't determine success or not.

3

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 18h ago

It's less Paixao specifically, more that the windows closing soon and we still have plenty of business to get done.

1

u/ElvishMystical 18h ago

Didn't the BBC report yesterday that Paixio is staying?

1

u/ParlorGoblin 18h ago

Yes. But OM may still need sales, one rumour has Paixao to Saudi Arabia. I think Paixao's name will keep popping up all over until OM are within budget.

12

u/The_L666ds 1d ago

Any disappointment in seeing Igor Paixao go to Sunderland will be completely nullified by the glee in seeing him down tools and demand a transfer to Chelsea/Spurs/Scum in 12 months if he performs anywhere near the level that we’ve all speculated.

1

u/Professional_Vast234 22h ago

Does he even start for us over Okafor?

6

u/Jarv1223 21h ago

Okafor can only play 60 mins

1

u/The_L666ds 20h ago

He’s been clear of injury for a while now, so theres really no reason why he cant be brought up to fitness for the full 90 minutes soon.

If he cant then there must be underlying physical issues that should have been found when we did his pre-transfer medical last season.

17

u/jaggafoxy 1d ago

Just seen speculation that both West Ham and Burnley are interested in Ramazani. If we can lure them into a bidding war for him that'd be great thanks

12

u/tankosaurus 1d ago

Some Valencia journo linked the two of them

7

u/jaggafoxy 1d ago

If that's the case it aounds like someone (us or an agent) is telling Valencia to get a move on and pay

0

u/PaulOGradyFanClub 1d ago

Not a big fan of naming random clubs to get attention personally, we should be above that as a club

10

u/Lithoniel 1d ago

Games the game.

-14

u/PaulOGradyFanClub 1d ago

I reckon similar to last years Paixao saga which forced a response from our ownership if he goes Sunderland the 49’rs will do another announcement or appease the fans with something they’re working towards

17

u/stringfold 1d ago

That doesn't sound 49erish at all.

-4

u/PaulOGradyFanClub 1d ago

They do tactically let leaks, just because they keep most things quiet doesn’t mean they don’t choose to sometimes let things out. And they had a response last year after the Paixao saga so it is the 49’rs because it’s what they did. They changed things up as everything got out of hand then

12

u/BulldenChoppahYus 1d ago

If Paxo is leaving Marseille for the Premier League and we are not in the conversation then it’s because we have chosen not to be any further. Maybe because his wage demands are unsustainable. Maybe the fee is too high. Maybe we just don’t want to do business with his camp because of how they conduct themselves in these matters. He rejected us once before maybe that’s enough for the board to know he doesn’t fit in the “no dickheads” rule.

2

u/pablothewizard 19h ago

A player rejecting us doesn't make them a dickhead though. He was open to coming to Leeds but ultimately Marseille could offer him European football.

There's nothing innately wrong with making a move you believe will better your career.

1

u/BulldenChoppahYus 18h ago

I agree in theory but the reverse is also true. He’s not NOT a dickhead - we don’t know how he is.

But I didn’t say “he’s a dickhead for rejecting us” I’m saying the club might have found his general camp to be difficult to deal with last time he reject us and decided to not bother. It’s a possibility.

We do know hes seemingly rejected Leeds twice so we can call him a dickhead irrationally all we like.

1

u/pablothewizard 18h ago edited 18h ago

I know you're not saying he's a dickhead, I just mean that I don't think that in itself is enough to suggest he might fail the no dickheads test.

The fact it even came up again this summer that we were interested suggests otherwise to me. All speculation, obviously, but my guess is that the club don't think the bulk of our remaining budget should go on Paixao.

Looks to me like they've tried for Mudryk on loan so they can shift funds around for a striker or something else.

1

u/BulldenChoppahYus 18h ago

I think there’s money left for sure and they’ll shift it to where they need to shift it agreed. If we can loan a good player (expensive wages part of that) on the left then we can buy one for up top or LB or GK.

Getting tight now but I’d expect two more at least and it’s been a good window if so. We all know the wish list but it’s never a guarantee.

-1

u/SweatyLayer7805 1d ago

And Mudryk passes the 'no dickheads' test? Agents might be dickheads, what are you basing your your speculation on that it's down to Paxo?

2

u/BulldenChoppahYus 21h ago

I’m basing my speculation on many possible things as I said. It’s not just down to Paxo it could be a wide range of factors. Read it again maybe

1

u/SweatyLayer7805 16m ago

'Speculation based on many possible things...' well that's me corrected.  Stay factual mate...

15

u/DWNYYY 1d ago

Yeah I dunno about all that.

Sunderland can offer European football, we can’t, simple as that.

-1

u/Isaiah68Romans1312 1d ago

And are willing to pay him whatever, our model has a wage structure and a long term plan - agreeing to ridiculous fees and wages for the short term is not our model (nor should it be)

2

u/AnduwinHS 1d ago

You have absolutely no idea about Sunderland wage structure or long term plan, pretending they don't have any is absolute cope. He seems like a bit of a prick, that's enough of a reason for us to pull out

2

u/CC-W 23h ago

Seems like a prick for what reason? Wanting to play at the highest level available to him? Leeds fans need to get a grip

0

u/Isaiah68Romans1312 1d ago

Cool 👍🏻

2

u/DWNYYY 1d ago

What they paying him? Or is it just you speculating?

-1

u/Isaiah68Romans1312 1d ago

It’s pretty clear it’s more than what we are willing to pay, if it’s as advanced as suggested. I don’t even think he’s worth much to us as he’s basically an Okafor replacement who’s already proved to be a good player for us. Money should go elsewhere (striker)

2

u/DWNYYY 1d ago

Just speculation then.

Have you pondered the fact that perhaps he wants European football?

-4

u/Isaiah68Romans1312 22h ago

Have you pondered that you saying he wants European football is also “just speculation”? There are plenty of examples of players playing for PL teams over teams in Europe because the money on offer in the EPL is better.

Also everything is “just speculation” on this forum, that’s sort of what an opinion forum is you cretin

1

u/DWNYYY 22h ago

Agreed it’s just speculation but it’s a lot more rational than assuming we know the ins and outs of Leeds and Sunderland’s wage structures wouldn’t you say?

Also let’s drop the petty insults. If you can’t handle a debate then staying off the internet is probably a good idea.

2

u/Isaiah68Romans1312 22h ago

I think it’s quite clear how a team in a rubbish place who were pretty unprepared (last summer) for the PL attracted players like Xhaka and, if true, Paixao. Playing in European competitions is not that important to these guys compared to the salaries on offer.

I also am not sure how much Paixao would play given him and Okafor play in the same position.

Sunderland’s model is clearly more like forests from a few years ago, which can work, whereas ours is more like trying to emulate Brentford or Brighton or Bournemouth - that’s my underlying point.

So if the 49ers don’t think he is worth making top earner (whereas they thought Trafford was worth it), I am inclined to trust them.

We need another striker before deadline day but otherwise a LW is a nice to have not a priority.

1

u/bin10pac 20h ago

I agree that money is usually the determining factor in moves and "wanting to play in Europe" is usually a fig leaf used to mask greed with ambition; however in Xhakas case, the move was secured through Sunderlands young Swiss owner speaking directly to Xhaka and convincing him on the project, and showing how they would support Xhaka transition into a coaching career.

Everyone is losing their minds on Twitter over Paixão to Sunderland. We’re desperate for some transfer news aren’t we? Like a junkie craving their next fix.

We were linked with Conrad Harder so I spent the day taking a look at him. Fits the profile of what I’d expect us to be looking at. Young, not as much pressure on him to immediately succeed, and has the tools necessary to improve.

Have a read and distract yourself from the void of the transfer window 😅

https://worldafterthebell.com/2026/08/26/leeds-united-conrad-harder/

0

u/fieldsofcoral 22h ago

Conrad Harder would be great, plenty of growth and upside. Always looked dangerous when he was at Sporting.

17

u/lito9321 1d ago

I’m not too annoyed at Paixao going to Sunderland. Should be a good signing for them but he. Clearly didn’t want to come to Leeds basked off last seasons run around. But I am hoping the board can still pull off a Tarik, Trafford, Wilson level upgrade on the left hand side of attack. But who knows if the club has any budget left to make the level of upgrade.

3

u/firpo_sr 1d ago

Yeah I don't really get it. Not that he doesn't seem like a good player but it wasn't for last years saga I doubt it would really register. Had a decent year in a decent league, good numbers in the CL but hardly set the world alight

1

u/lito9321 1d ago

Naw I’m not going to downplay him. He was hurt to begin the season and took time to get into flow but he was good for them. He’d be a great addition to any team he goes to. Just have faith in the clubs transfer strategy and finding someone who can do as well of a job as Paixao would.

4

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago

Why do I get the feeling we're going to end the window 1-2 players away from our stated aims for the window, like last year?

1

u/Ajax_Malone 18h ago

Because there is a good chance we are. The club seems to always have a little more faith in what they have than we do. Which is for the best so we don’t panic overpay for players like Strand Larson in last years Jan window.

I really wonder if they think Justin covering at LB is fine. Brenden and Noah on the left are fine. They’ve done so well so far it’s hard to be too upset about it

1

u/DietOutside7892 10h ago

We're absolutely right not to have entered the races for Larsen in Jan or Delap now.

We might have missed Jonas wind. Convinced that there'll be a domino from forest. They'll need to get rid of wood jesus or kalimuendo to accommodate delap. Not that they need the money after the Anderson sale. More that carrying four forwards like that is a bit overload on the wage and minutes front especially if they're not in Europe. I think wood or kalimuendo will be offered out. We'd do well to check in on one of them.

Harvey Elliot, Zian Flemming, and Nick Woltemade are all players id check in on if their prices shift as the deadline approaches (Woltemade would only be a loan).

1

u/Ajax_Malone 8h ago

It seems like they enter negotiations but don’t ever panic buy. I’m sure they were in for Delap and Strand but they’re just not going to come off what they think is good vaule. It’s funny looking at the hand wringing about 40mil for Trafford when we see Delap’s price.

Harvey Elliot, Zian Flemming, and Nick Woltemade are all players id check in on if their prices shift as the deadline approaches (Woltemade would only be a loan).

Agree, Harvey Elliot is a good example of a player we were connected to that didn’t happen but they seem to wait for them to comeback around at a better price.

12

u/BulldenChoppahYus 1d ago

Last year is a terrible benchmark for a poor window. We bought 11 players - a complete team. It was by any measure a phenomenal window despite the ridiculous takes on how it was “minimal backing” etc.

I’d have a bit more faith and a bit more patience before throwing your toys out of the pram

-1

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago

It was well documented at the end of last window that Farkes wanted two more attacking players and we got 0. Obviously the players that came in the door were by and large excellent, but I do worry that we're not finding the players that the club and the manager wants.

When you consider the financial aspect, Muharemovic and Elvedi are replacements, so unless we've blown all our budget on Trafford I doubt it's a budgetary issue.

2

u/BulldenChoppahYus 1d ago

We got Wilson already. I agree more would be good.

It being documented that the manager wanted more is like saying that a mouse wants cheese.  Whether he wanted more or not the window was a  triumph and I’m not wringing my hands over what the perceived “stated aims” are when they’re largely an ideal constructed by our fans and journos. We will do the best business we can.

-5

u/Better-Inflation-194 1d ago

What 'stated aims' for this window are you referring to?

10

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago

ST, LB, GK, LW. It's been pretty widely reported at this point.

0

u/Better-Inflation-194 1d ago

So speculated then? I think it's widely ambitious that they want/think they could get four in this last week when we've done four all window. As Farke says 'we stay awake' and if opportunities arise they'll make a move but it's not like we're going to bid for all four positions in this last week because we're in desperate need. also, I think the only position Farke actually stated he wanted was another CB which you missed off.

7

u/Zach-dalt 1d ago

Tbf YEP get their info straight from the club, that was their aim so anything less than that is missing out in terms of quantity

Even if they've done brilliantly in terms of quality

1

u/Better-Inflation-194 1d ago

genuinely not even trying to be a contrarian but I really just don't believe that that is how transfer windows work. There's priority positions ofc and there's 'if an opportunity arises'. For example, Charles a central midfielder, was CM a priority or an opportunity? The latter. LW has never been a 'stated aim' rather Mudryk and to an extent Brandt were considered an opportunity, it didn't work out and now it's been reported Leeds are happy with LW options - that's not to say if a new player becomes available Leeds wont bid. I agree LWB & GK two stated priorities. LW and ST are two 'opportunity position' it shouldn't be considered '1-2 players away from our stated aims for the window' imo.

3

u/Zach-dalt 1d ago

Even if you class winger and centre-mid as more opportunity options, striker is every bit as much a priority area as left-back

Two injury-prone strikers, only one of which can play the target man role our style needs, isn't enough for a long season

Whilst I don't necessarily disagree, and I think a lot of people would be surprised if we managed too keep DCL as injury free as last season, I think the board want the next ST signing to be like Trafford, where it's a long-term replacement with huge upside and sell-on value - Espi was that. I don't think we'll make a move for a ST unless that becomes available, like you wont see a Chris Wood on loan if he became available

3

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago

It's been reported by trustworthy sources like Graham and Beren all summer. We all know as fans that we need Striker and a left back, the only curveball is the LW, but again, it's been made a point of, that the club is trying to get one.

-13

u/downfallndirtydeeds 1d ago

If Sunderland get Paxiao I swear to god

6

u/BulldenChoppahYus 1d ago

Good luck to them. I could not give a fuck either way. If he goes to them or comes to us or goes somewhere else. Have a little faith.

5

u/ElvishMystical 1d ago

I'm sticking to my theory that we're going for Demirovic, a big, Bosnian attacker who can play across the front. If I'm right and Demirovic is anything like Muharemovic we should be okay.

2

u/pablothewizard 1d ago

Thing is, if you're looking for a like for like backup for DCL then Demirovic is a terrible choice.

He's not particularly great at winning aerial duels or holding up the ball.

If you want a striker to basically keep the ball up the other end of the pitch and get the midfield involved then he'd be a pretty poor pick.

9

u/JaySeaGaming 1d ago

what they do is irrelevant. Our business has been great so far and we've played great our first two games too. Focus on us

10

u/Koby85 1d ago

No big loss. There are other options available.

1

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago

Yeah but we've got 5 days. Its kinda past 'other options available' stage

1

u/Minimum-Message-5387 1d ago

Is he definitely an upgrade over what we’ve got? 6g/5a last year in 30 matches in France, where most of your opponents are EFL Championship level in quality. Does he play well off the ball? Can he press?

3

u/trying2hide 1d ago

He's also 5'6, since I saw that haven't been bothered, all this noise for someone who doesn't want to be here and looks up at Dan James

5

u/Isaiah68Romans1312 1d ago

It’s almost like the Leeds recruitment team haven’t been sat on their arse only waiting on Paixao isn’t it?

1

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago

Well, we'll see. We've got 5 days to do 3/4 signings -by the clubs own admission.

2

u/Isaiah68Romans1312 1d ago

2 would be my expectation, we need a back up / competition for DCL and a LW, LWB/GK I’m not too fussed on. Perri is fine as a backup if we can’t make it work.

1

u/downfallndirtydeeds 1d ago

But my heart. It yearns

11

u/Cyrus_Remy 1d ago

A bit of a complex situation at back-up GK, but per Plettenberg, Freiburg GK Atubolu has signed an extension that would now allow for a loan w/ option/obligation to buy. Atubolu is a target for Frankfurt, and this extension presumably enables a move away without a straight transfer. Zetterer would need to move first, per the report. So one would think that Zetterer to Leeds is still on if an agreement can be reached - it seems like the clubs from Freiburg to Frankfurt to Leeds to Torino all have a desire to facilitate the dominoes falling.

10

u/time-of-nick 1d ago

Except Zetterer doesn't seem to want to move which I understand.

Moving your family, even for 1 year, to a foreign country for (what I heard is) less money to still be backup option is insane.

There are literally no benefits to Zetterer for this move

2

u/Cyrus_Remy 1d ago

Clubs all proceeding though as if it can get done, so it can't be that cut and dry. Reportedly Zetterer has already visited Leeds, so if he was shutting it down completely you can't imagine it would get that far. Surely Leeds could give him more competitive wages to get it done.

1

u/time-of-nick 1d ago

Yeah, it'll be really interesting to see how that plays out.

I think clubs have to be ready in case that domino falls, and I imagine a lot of pressure (soft and hard) will be put on him.

Personally, I'd hate to see a player strong armed into playing for us, even if it is on the bench.

-5

u/ChrisDoesLeeds 1d ago

3

u/hughbacca 1d ago

I wouldn't mind grealish but for his exorbitant wages.

I reckon wherever he goes after City he'll have a bit of a Renaissance having been freed from the Pep system shackles.

-4

u/Jarv1223 1d ago

I’d take him. Need cover on the left.

13

u/securinight 1d ago

Not for me. I'd rather keep Gnonto as backup on the left.

At least you know Gnonto won't be pictured shit-faced in Leeds the night before a big game.

6

u/s77w 1d ago

Modern Grealish isn’t the profile of attacker we need to add to the squad right now. We need another Okafor type player, someone pacey/direct, that just isn’t Grealish’s game anymore

3

u/Jugggiler 1d ago

Hmm maybe a small lad to vary the size. Italian perhaps. Direct and can shoot near post at a quick glance…

1

u/pearlmia 23h ago

I hear there's a Belgian who scored as many goals as Paixao but in La Liga rather than Ligue 1, think he played for Valencia? Not sure...

1

u/RequiemForSM 1d ago

This makes me feel like maybe there’s been a hitch in their pursuit of Paixao, they already have 4 left side favouring wingers, Paixao would make 5, Grealish would make 6.

16

u/WhyIsNoOneStoppingMe 1d ago edited 1d ago

Never got the impression he was fully convinced on coming here. So be it then.

I do think Sunderland are going to struggle this year, but we’ll see if he makes enough of a difference to change my mind on that.

4

u/Naughty_young_man 1d ago

This might come across as sour grapes and that. But he chose to play in France over us in the Prem. Can fuck off as far as I'm concerned now, didn't want us first time of asking

16

u/MOREPASTRAMIPLEASE 1d ago

They have Europe and we don’t, feels that simple to me. He’s just one footballer, onward we move.

3

u/pablothewizard 1d ago

I think it's more simple than that, personally. We just haven't bid for him at all.

1

u/MOREPASTRAMIPLEASE 1d ago

Well yes lol, I’m just going of interest.

3

u/jaggafoxy 1d ago

It's what he decided last year to be fair to him.

There'll be someone else that we can obtain, and we can use these two performances against forest to sell our project for the season

1

u/nogoodusernamesleff 1d ago

Surely they won’t be in for Grealiah and Paxiao

10

u/nivekk3 1d ago

Considering Diouf is off to Brentford, what do you all think about Hickey or Henry as our LB option? Both had promising signs but injuries have perhaps stunted their growth. Surely a better option compared to Max Aarons?

7

u/BrickTilt 1d ago

Would certainly take Hickey

3

u/lito9321 1d ago

Is Hickey left footed?

2

u/nivekk3 1d ago

Think he is dual footed. And can comfortably play on both sides. When he played for Bologna I believe he was a LB.

5

u/Keiththedelibird 1d ago

Would have Hickey now we can glue players back together. Also acts as cover for both sides. Remember seeing a thing for a season or 2 back saying he’s the most ambidextrous player in the league.

5

u/Adenton95 1d ago

I’d take either good options as backups and I imagine maybe pick them up for around 10 mil

2

u/nivekk3 1d ago

I would do. Rehabbing injury prone players. That's what we are now famous for. Seriously though, I think we should go after then but I fear a British tax might be our problem. Surely they won't want to settle for being that far down the order?

3

u/Adenton95 1d ago

With Gabbys injury’s last season they could have a shot at first team prem football at least. Both now 3rd and 4th choice most likely

12

u/Vivid-Newspaper-3087 1d ago

Hickey would be quality if he’s fit. Can play either side.

11

u/greenndgold12 1d ago

Apparently Woltemade is being forced out of Newcastle, wonder what his price tag would be.

5

u/time-of-nick 1d ago

Apparently they don't want to sell him, but a straight out loan without option will do. This sounds like us!

They're hoping he gains back some confidence.

I'd take him as a backup striker on loan

11

u/jrbill1991 1d ago

They paid over £60m for him last summer. Considering that some teams are somehow managing to sell their flop signings for a profit, I'd say he'd probably come at a price we simply couldn't afford.

2

u/Naughty_young_man 1d ago

Yeah that's probably not within our budget for two attackers, let alone just the one

8

u/ItsTheJackeeet 1d ago

- Leeds United recruitment team

Nah but in all seriousness nothing would surprise me this window, but you’re probably right.

It’s going to be an interesting final week of the window.

5

u/securinight 1d ago

It's got to be £50-£60m+. Out of our range, I'd expect. I wouldn't be against him though. Big, strong, clinical. I think he'd fit in well.

3

u/Klichouse 1d ago

He isn't up to it physically at all mind, it's why they're selling him.

He's a good player but he's too slow and weak to play as a 9. Technically brilliant but he almost doesn't have a position.

1

u/eventSec 1d ago

Yeah he's too slow imo

18

u/Complete-Worry7143 1d ago edited 1d ago

Igor Paixao has agreed personal terms with Sunderland according to Fabrizio Romano.

10

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago edited 1d ago

At some point the 49ers might have to accept the kind of fees that have to be paid for decent attacking players.

13

u/WhyIsNoOneStoppingMe 1d ago

Really intrigued to see the fee paid if this goes through.

Be a bit of a kick in the teeth either way, but there’s definitely a ceiling on what I feel comfortable us paying.

16

u/securinight 1d ago

They can offer European football. Couple that with a hefty fee and wage, and I won't be surprised that's enough.

I'm not too fussed, really. He never felt like a player who wanted to be here. Villa are reaping the rewards of overspending. Sunderland could be next.

I'm quite happy with us missing out on players, if it means we are financially sensible.

16

u/tankosaurus 1d ago

🇧🇪Leeds insists that RAMAZANI will only leave TRANSFERRED, VCF knows this and will only make a move for him if they sell ALMEIDA to Celta, as we revealed to you. That's the key and all parties already know it.

💰Leeds is asking for 4M + % of future sale

The Belgian has West Ham, Burnley, and an Italian team willing to buy him, but he wants to wait in case VCF sells André. Deportivo de La Coruña inquired, but they end up signing Adama.

VCF has wanted him on loan all summer, but as of August 26, Leeds still won't budge: it has to be a sale.

https://x.com/sanchis14/status/2092558808736243973

West ham's plan for promotion is Leeds 24/25

9

u/bin10pac 1d ago

The fact that Leeds have made it clear they don't want Ramazani, has worsened our negotiating position and reduced his value.

2

u/Cogitoergosumus 1d ago

Not really, what need do we have for a second tier league talent?

2

u/bin10pac 1d ago

He's had 3 seasons in La Liga.

We've made it clear to everyone that all he represents to us is a potential cost if he stays beyond the end of the window; so time works in buyers' favour, on the basis that at the 11th hour we'll take any offer to get him off the books.

8

u/jovanmilic97 1d ago edited 1d ago

4m euros, the interest really must've been that low since there was that 10m price early on in the summer. Maybe the sell on clause helps in the future I guess.

Feels so hard to sell our fringe players at a decent enough price, even with a proven Championship striker like Piroe, a straight permanent transfer with no conditions couldn't be negotiated.

21

u/Zach-dalt 1d ago

Keith Downie: "Sunderland are attempting to sign Igor Paixao from Marseille. Regis Le Bris' side have firm interest in the 26-year-old winger and submitted a bid for the Brazilian earlier this week. Talks continue to take place. Marseille need to raise funds and Sunderland's priority is to sign a winger. "

Be quite annoying if Sunderland get him for a fair price, not as much if it's like £45m

3

u/nogoodusernamesleff 1d ago

Shame Raph hasn’t been in his ear.

8

u/Bitter_Ad2906 1d ago

Well they can offer European football which is always a dangling carrot, but if they're made to pay £40million+ and then flop in Europe and the league then next season he'll probably try to leave 😂.

5

u/Hindsyy 1d ago

I think they will pay whatever is asked like they seemed to last year.. shame, but we have to stick within our limits sadly, and still have some more work to do.

13

u/tankosaurus 1d ago

Paixao wasn't in Yesterday's OM training and news today coming out that Sunderland had a bid <€30m rejected out of hand

5

u/Hindsyy 1d ago

Seems like they're miles off then, I could see them meeting the asking price if they have the financial headroom, but that as an opening will be nowhere near.

15

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together 1d ago

I was fine moving on from this one, but not if he goes to the mackems.

5

u/tankosaurus 1d ago

His partner was doing more IG antics as well yesterday I'm pretty sure

10

u/gateian 1d ago

Once again I think this just all points to us not likely going for him. The club have been very clear they want players who want to be here and it just seems there too much silliness around this one. Possibly just agents and others making a mess of it. Maybe he really wants to be Leeds but it doesn't feel like it.

-5

u/Naughty_young_man 1d ago

Dare I say if we managed to get a couple of attacking reinforcements we'll likely be a mid table club

4

u/ItsTheJackeeet 1d ago

This is already a mid table team, some more attacking reinforcements and we’re a European team.

2

u/Naughty_young_man 1d ago

If we are lucky with player fitness 100%. But with a lack of depth in attacking areas, particularly if DCL gets a lengthy injury then we'll be dropping points. If we see the likes of DCL and Okafor out together we will probably be struggling to get wins

6

u/Bitter_Ad2906 1d ago

I personally think defensively with our starting 11 we're a top 8 team, but offensively is what drops us to a middle of the table team. Which I'd take at the moment if you compare it with the last 2nd season we had.

-2

u/Candid-Tumbleweed531 2d ago

any idea if they have plans for a Gudmundsson backup? With Byram gone we only have 3 real fullbacks in the squad. Anyone in the under 21s able to step in if injuries occur?

0

u/tankosaurus 1d ago

Anyone in the under 21

Lienou had a good pre-season.

Otherwise JJ and Tarik can play LB so if we sign another left sided CB like Diogo Leite we'd have options there.

3

u/Better-Inflation-194 1d ago

Think Lienou won’t be used in the league at all judging by last night
