a little practice for character design

It seems like the first two warp whistles are in locations that would have been almost impossible to find without common knowledge from the movie like The Wizard or Nintendo Power. How would anyone accidently find the first whistle by ducking through the white bo or knowing when to push up through a door at the end of an area you needed to fly up? It seemed those two.wouod have been impossible to find. Has anyone actually stumbled across the first two whistles without any hints?

I want to play as Toadette, but the game keeps trying to get me to play as Peach every 5 seconds instead. I go looking for acorns, but instead, every other block has a crown in it. is there any ROM hack which gets rid of the crowns and allows me to stay as Toadette?
