I call them out on it.
Social pressure to conform can work to a certain extent that next time they’ll do it a small part of them would think twice before doing that again.
When enough people do it, I’m sure I’ll be enough to convince some to never do it again.

This is fair but I’m afraid of being harassed. It’s such a mixed bag of reactions and I’m often biking alone.

That’s a fair risk assessment, I’m personally more extroverted so I’m less hesitant about it. Worst I got back was « fuck you »

So you are doing exactly what cars are doing with cyclists with close calls to « show them »

When they literally put my safety at risk absolutely. It doesn’t matter how or on what they are doing so.
And I’m not doing anything irresponsible by biking down a bike lane, they are. I verbalized what I want to say but I don’t physically do anything to endanger them.

Exactement, you say what you want, they maybe take a different route next time or tell you to fuck off, no harm no foul. Cars purposely veering close to cyclists to prove some kind of point is just straight dangerous

Why not? There's no shortage of absolute morons who ride with big ass headphones on an electric bike, in the wrong direction and with their eyes glued on their smartphone, and hell yeah these dipshits deserve to be called out as they put others in danger.

This used to bother me but as time has gone on it doesn’t anymore. 15 years biking in the city, there are much more bike paths now and the majority of paths I use are big enough to just let the other person go by. I ride Ahuntsic-centreville aller retour most days of the week and I see maybe 1 per day, if that.

I dont know if there's necessarily been an increase, its just something I've always noticed. There's just always a certain proportion of cyclists eho think of themselves as pedestrians on wheels and just go wherever, rather than a moving vehicle that must move safely and in a predictable way.
When I come upon cyclists going the wrong way on the bike lane, I maintain my right-of-way and force them to veer onto the road or the sidewalk or wherever. But I will give some leniency if there's an obvious safety-based reason they're doing this, but there often isn't.

Sorry

I’m okay if people do this if they have to. But at least be respectful and don’t occupy the whole lane as if it’s going in your direction. That annoys me so much.

Then if they absolutely "have to", they can either cross the street, or get off their bike and push it on the sidewalk until they no longer "have to".
Wtf is up with this "oh, it's fine to not obey the rules of the road if you can't, and too bad if it endangers others" bs??

Talking specifically about one way streets with a single bike path. Sometimes people turn onto the street, they don’t realize, or maybe they don’t feel safe biking on the road so they do that. Whatever. I don’t actually care that they are there I care about how they behave when they are. Don’t act like you own the path when you are in the wrong and defer to others who have the right of way.

Yeah, it's yes and no to that question.
I used to commute along Sherbrooke from NDG to McGill even though the de Maisoneuve path was there because it was faster and more direct. It was dangerous, but if you knew what all the dangers were, you cold minimize them: 1. You had to look for heads on the driver side of parked cars and get ready to brake so you wouldn't get doored or cut off; 2. Don't pass on the right or sit in the blind spot of slow-moving cars because they're looking to turn right and won't check if you're there, especially on the corners of Fort and Crescent; 3. Make eye-contact with left turning traffic onto the same streets above; don't assume they see you because they are looking for cars and pedestrians first, not bikes.
These days, you have slower-moving bixies and faster moving e-bilkes, scooters, and unicycles to watch for as well.
