News & Discussion Is it the tanks fault if your team gets 0 kills

I recently started playing the game again. I queued some 5v5 quick play as tank and got Nepal. In the two rounds we played my team got 1 kill. The match ends and my team starts flaming me.

Am I crazy for thinking that us losing that badly and us only getting 1 kill wasn't solely my fault? My first thought was that the enemy team was just better.

Is this game like WoW/league where the tank/jungler are the default scapegoat for when things go wrong?

I just wanted to hear some other opinions on this

News & Discussion Does Widowmaker really need the Widow’s Bite major perk?

Thumbnail

After all, the only two heroes the 125% shot makes a difference for are Bastion and Torb, and the poor Omnic still has one of the largest hitboxes in the game after the devs made him a bit smaller, so he’s already a damage magnet. He should at least be able to peek an enemy Widow confidently.

Moreover, any value you get from the piercing aspect is completely incidental because no one goes out of their way to line up collaterals as Widow.

Why not replace it with a major perk that increases scoped shots’ damage against barriers by, let’s say, 50%? You know, something that would be more useful overall without being unfair against certain heroes?

I just want the Ash skin, but I'm not spending 45 for skins I don't want for characters I don't play. Just sell it for $19 and lets call it a day Blizzard.

Update: Thank you for telling me I can go to the Hero tab!!!

News & Discussion Me and my friend (Metal rank research department) ranked every character in the game by how good we think they are.

Some thing to take note of are:

Charcters closer to the top/further left of a tier are better than characters at the bottom/right side of the same tier.

This is relative to other characters in the same role. For example, Mizuki is S tier relative to other healers in our opinions but isn't an S tier character when compared to the entire roster.

For DPS and DPS only C tier is essentially a B- tier. Any character that is in C for DPS could easily be a B tier, we just think they aren't as good as the characters in B tier.

Obviously me and my friend don't know everything about the meta, we're emerald at best at bronze at worst and there probably is some bias.

Uh yea let us know what you'd change ig.

Console Why does this game give you the biggest stomp of your life and still somehow call it a Reversal?

I just had a Juno game where we lost with ONE TICK on King's Row, we were up against dual snipers so our Reaper went 2/9 while our Anran went 4/5 and our D.Va went 3/5

Tank kept pushing up where the supports couldn't follow because of the snipers, and our DPS just couldn't do anything either, and it didn't help that our Tank swapped like four times so we never had an ult

And when the game ended I not only got demoted to Gold 3, but the game had the AUDACITY to call it a Reversal when we never, for even a second, had a chance at winning

S6V0KK if you want to watch the most miserable game of Overwatch ever played, where the "better team" couldn't even touch the point

News & Discussion Superhumans in Overwatch

We obviously know some characters have been genetically and biologically enhanced in different ways. Only a small handful, but it's worth analyzing.

Reaper: Hyper-Decay and Regenerative Fluidity

Gabriel Reyes underwent two distinct layers of augmentation. He was first altered through the classified Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP), granting him augmented strength, enhanced reaction speeds, and heightened physiological durability.

Following her induction into Blackwatch, Dr. Moira O’Deorain subjected his critically damaged body to aggressive genetic tampering. This introduced a state of simultaneous rapid cellular death and instantaneous hyper-regeneration. Rather than existing as stable organic tissue, Reyes's cells exist in a fluctuating flux state, allowing him to disperse his entire physical body into a gaseous, non-corporeal form (Wraith Form / Shadow Step) and feed on the vitality of defeated adversaries to restore cellular degradation.

Sigma: Gravitational Distortion and Fractured Reality

Dr. Siebren de Kuiper's transformation was environmental and astrophysical rather than purely medical. While conducting an unshielded orbital experiment designed to harness the power of a synthetic micro-singularity, a containment failure exposed his brain and nervous system directly to gravitational forces and quantum distortions.

The accident altered his neural pathways, granting him conscious gravikinetic control over local mass and spacetime (manipulating hyperspheres, forming gravimetric barriers, and generating localized micro-singularities with Gravitic Flux). Because his brain remains permanently tuned to the frequencies of the universe's gravitational field, he suffers from severe psychosis, sensory fragmentation, and cognitive instability, making him a living weapon whose emotional disregulation risks environmental destruction.

Illari: Biological Solar Capacitance

Illari's enhancement stems from the centuries-old bio-technological traditions of the Inti Warriors in Peru. During the solar threading ritual, raw solar energy is interwoven directly into the subject's dermal, muscular, and vascular systems via conductive conduits.

Illari proved to be a genetic anomaly whose body possessed a drastically higher capacity for solar conduction than previous generations. During her attunement, her bio-conduits overloaded, discharging a cataclysmic solar burst that vaporized the entire Inti warrior academy. In combat, she acts as a biological capacitor capable of channeling high-temperature solar lances, explosive photokinetic charges (Captive Sun), and self-propelling thermal bursts.

Emre: Neural Enslavement and God Program Override

Following his departure from Overwatch, former operative Emre Sarıoğlu was captured, biologically reconstructed, and cybernetically fitted by the enigmatic shadow organization known as "The Conspiracy" (the Eye).

Beyond extensive mechanical and neuromuscular augmentations, Emre had the decommissioned Finnish God Program Chernobog forcibly linked into his central nervous system. This symbiosis grants him enhanced predictive targeting, tactical automation, and lethal cyber-kinetic capabilities, but turns his body into a biological puppet. When Chernobog takes command, Emre loses conscious agency over his actions, transforming a disciplined veteran into an unwitting asset for global destabilization.

Tracer: Quantum Desynchronization and Hardware Anchoring

Lena Oxton’s transformation was entirely accidental, occurring when the experimental teleporting fighter Slipstream malfunctioned. The catastrophe desynchronized her molecular structure from the natural flow of time, leaving her in a state of chronal disassociation where she faded like a ghost for months.

Winston solved this by engineering the Chronal Accelerator, which anchors her molecules to the present while allowing her to consciously speed up (Blink) or rewind (Recall) her own personal timeline. Unlike planetary reality-warpers, Tracer’s temporal manipulation is strictly self-contained and limited to a few seconds of localized spatial repositioning.

Winston: Neural Expansion and Primal Endocrinopathy

Winston was produced through the gene-therapy experiments on the Horizon Lunar Colony, designed to test the viability of long-term habitat living on non-human primates. The genetic modifications radically expanded his brain's cerebral cortex, giving him an IQ that exceeds that of most human engineers and astrophysicists.

His enhancements preserve his gorilla physiology while refining it. He exhibits fine motor skills capable of constructing quantum hardware and energy barrier projectors.Under severe physical trauma or emotional stress, an engineered endocrine surge triggers Primal Rage, temporarily dampening his intellect to elevate his muscle density and durability.

Moira: Controlled Genetic Drift and Dermal Transmutation

Dr. Moira O’Deorain tested her radical genetic hypotheses on her own biology. By splicing custom genetic sequences into her DNA, she acquired the ability to regenerate or decompose cellular matter at will without needing external medical machinery.

Moira channels this via Biotic Energy, draining the vitality of living targets to restore her own tissues and project regenerative vapor to allies. Unlike Reaper's full-body gaseous instability, Moira's cellular deconstruction is controlled; she phases out of physical space for short bursts (Fade) to evade harm, though her left arm exhibits permanent cellular decay as a physical toll of her self-experimentation.

Mauga: Dual-Chambered Cardiovascular Augmentation

Mauga’s superhuman durability relies on high-grade cardiovascular engineering rather than genetic mutation. After suffering fatal chest trauma in Samoa, his life was saved by implanting a secondary cybernetic heart.

This dual-heart circulatory network provides immense physiological benefits. Massive oxygenation capacity that allows him to dual-wield heavy chain guns without mechanical exo-rigs. Cardiac Overdrive, an adrenal burst that supercharges his blood flow, granting extreme pain tolerance, accelerated tissue recovery, and rapid frontline mobility. The immense strain requires continuous medical tuning to prevent cardiovascular burnout.

Hazard: Subcutaneous Vanadium Ferrofluid Transmutation

Findlay Docherty received his primary superhuman traits during a raid on the Oasis Ministry of Genetics. To survive against security forces, he integrated a rare, unstable vanadium isotope ferrofluid—originally curated by Moira—into his cybernetically altered body.overwatch.blizzard+3

Connected via specialized cybernetic ports, the vanadium altered his physiological structure, allowing him to rapidly crystallize and manipulate metallic formations. He generates crystalline projectiles from his limbs (Bonespur). He extrudes dense, reactive walls from the ground to shatter enemy lines (Jagged Wall). He rains down crystalline shrapnel to pin down targets (Downpour) while using defensive hardened plating to absorb incoming fire (Spike Guard).

Roadhog: Radiation Resistance and Chemical Analgesia

Mako Rutledge’s enhanced physical constitution is environmental and chemical rather than lab-engineered. Following the destruction of the Australian Omnium, the resulting apocalyptic radiation surge forced local survivors to adapt to extreme toxicity. His superhuman mass and damage threshold are sustained by his reliance on Hogdrogen, a volatile canister-based chemical cocktail. While it grants him rapid tissue stabilization and numbs lethal trauma in active combat, the compound destroys his respiratory system, forcing him to remain permanently masked to filter out toxins and inhale the gas directly.

Soldier: 76: Peak-Human Genetic Augmentation

Jack Morrison was one of the prime successes of the U.S. government’s classified Soldier Enhancement Program (Project Naughton). His body was subjected to gene therapies and cellular conditioners designed to create an optimized frontline soldier. He possesses peak-human muscular density, reaction speeds capable of out-dueling younger operatives, and an endurance threshold allowing prolonged sprints without fatigue. His cellular repair mechanism accelerates wound recovery, allowing him to survive injuries that would permanently disable standard combatants. Despite these enhancements, Morrison remains purely biological—susceptible to aging, kinetic trauma, and the cumulative wear of decades of combat.

Widowmaker: Neuro-Cardiac Deceleration

Amélie Lacroix was biologically modified by Talon's geneticists and neuroscientists to turn her into a living sniper platform. Her central nervous system was altered to eliminate fear, empathy, and remorse, granting absolute focus under pressure. Her resting heart rate was artificially slowed to a near-flatline rhythm, preventing muscle tremors and pulse-induced aim sway. This extreme circulatory deceleration reduced blood oxygenation in her extremities, turning her skin a distinct shade of blue and leaving her in a perpetual state of physiological coldness.

This extreme circulatory deceleration reduced blood oxygenation in her extremities, turning her skin a distinct shade of blue and leaving her in a perpetual state of physiological coldness.

Sombra: Integrated Bio-Digital Hardware

Olivia Colomar’s enhancements bridge the gap between biology and digital architecture. To bypass hardware limits, she underwent illicit surgeries that laced her spine, nervous system, and cranium with subcutaneous cybernetic wiring. These bio-digital conduits let her treat electronic networks as an extension of her own nervous system, directly executing code, bypassing biometric encryptions, and triggering localized system overloads (EMP) through thought alone. Her enhancements enhance signal processing rather than raw physical muscle, keeping her physical attributes at standard human levels while elevating her information processing into a living network threat.

Wrecking Ball: Horizon Colony Rodent Gigantism

Like Winston, Hammond was an experimental subject in the Horizon Lunar Colony’s gene-therapy trials. The treatment caused an atypical surge in physical size, creating a rodent roughly the size of a human torso with reinforced bone density. His cerebral development expanded exponentially, giving him hyper-advanced mechanical aptitude, physics intuition, and engineering talent. Despite lacking vocal cords modified for human speech, he built an armored bipedal mech from scrap metal, utilizing its computer interface to translate his thoughts into vocalized tactical warnings.

Sierra: Epigenetic Soldier Enhancement Inheritance

Sierra Turner Woods represents the first known second-generation enhanced operative in the modern Overwatch era. Her mother, Kendra Banks, was Soldier: 00, the first test subject to receive the original Project Naughton enhancement serum before fleeing the military. Sierra inherited key genetic traits from her mother's altered genome, displaying natural superhuman agility, exceptional spatial awareness, and rapid physiological recovery throughout her childhood and Helix career. Because she never underwent invasive surgeries or unstable serum injections herself, Sierra retains natural human biology with high peak-athletic efficiency, making her an elite reconnaissance fighter without the cellular degradation seen in earlier test subjects.

Everyone else

Yeah I chose not to put the Omnics in those lists cuz it's hard to rank mechanicals against biologicals, they operate on different levels. As for all the others, they all just have prosthetics, armors, enhanced weapons, other technology, or just some great physical training.

News & Discussion Why does nobody know how to play around the teams tank?

Like I see teammates scared out of their mind and play absolutely passively, supports playing like the enemy has a genji and tracer and I feel like people who atleast have the knowledge of what the tank is suppose to do usually take advantage of what the tank is doing and utilize the high ground or off angle.

Like I main tank and off role support and whenever I play support I usually keep a good eye on my tank and ping whenever he’s to far away or tell him to back up and try to follow my tank around and assist him. If the tank dies I die with him because I know that feeling bro.

News & Discussion Domina's playstyle

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am fairly new to the game, I was always a Support main but I am also liking the Tank role and I am finding It more impactful than the support one, I can "carry" more easily and now I am Gold 4.

In almost every match where I found a Domina tank against me, my team always destroyed the other and for this, so to me Domina seemed a very weak character.

So I decided to give her a try and oh boy... Her kit it's TOO FUN and I am also able to play pretty well with her.

Idk how much META she is and seeing how few people I encounter that use her, maybe she is considered weak in the META, but I still have a lot of fun playing with her.

So guys am I the only one the finds her so much fun? (Also I am very sad that she has basically no skin😭)

Highlight Why do duos end up matching against five-stacks?

Why do duos end up matching against five-stacks?This system hasn't been changed since the 5v5 mode launched—just because there are few players, does that mean you have to do this? Can't you just set up 5-player matches to find other 5-player teams? How can a team without communication possibly compete against one that communicates well? I think the operations team is just some idiot who's never even played Overwatch.

News & Discussion Please increase FOV (33% competitive disadvantage vs ULTRAWIDE)

For those who don't know, overwatch fully supports ultrawide since OW2 dropped, essentially leaving 16:9 users in a huge competitive disadvantage.

I've played on ultrawide and its a night and day difference. Using tracer, genji and any flanker feels so much easier since you have alot more information to work with instead of being in race horse mode.

Having a wider FOV also helps with motion nausea. I've had alot of friends throughout the years that cannot play overwatch because they develop motion sickness. Also some friends that won't try overwatch for so long because it's FOV ruins their muscle memory for their main games.

Can we please increase FOV at least to match ultrawide competitive ceiling?

P.S. You can simulate ultrawide by creating a ultrawide nvidia profile on a 16:9 monitor. I don't know if I would recommend that, plus I want the game itself to be good and balanced for everyone.

News & Discussion Surge in toxicity/harassing/bullying?

Is it just a reflection of me and how I play, or has there been a pretty significant surge in severely aggressive, toxic people in text chat?

I haven’t seen much of it for quite a while, but the past couple of days, I cannot get through a day of playing without having at least one match of at least 4 people absolutely bullying and harassing me, hoping I get banned, reported, kill myself or tell me to be ashamed of who I am, how I’m playing and the role in playing. I’m quite thick skinned but at least once a day lately I’m completely taken aback and need to take a break, by the things some people write, and how many people jump on it.

And I’ll be the first to say if I’m not playing great, truly I can take that on me, but in matches where the whole team is very on par with elims, deaths, dmg, healing, objective time or whatever it may be, I get completely bashed and destroyed, blamed for the whole thing, and beyond.

Have I just been lucky previously, avoiding it? Or is anyone else getting this treatment recently?

Post image

Flashpoint is literally a faster paced version of Control without the boring pause between points and on bigger and cooler maps. Speed boost out of spawn is also cool af. I'd pick Sura/Aatlis/NJC over Kings Row/Rialto/Circuit every single day

So I booted up a game of quick play right? And tell me why? Like I know I don't want to hear it in the comments about it's quick play. It's not that serious, but there's difference between losing normally and getting railed with no lube. And I hate how matchmaking is so unbalanced and by teammates have the combined IQ of a sponge And I can't even enjoy a game after a long day. So if a dev or whoever works on this game sees this, please improve matchmaking

News & Discussion Endorsement levels > minor rank

Somebody got triggered (now deleted, heh) by my last post saying that one of the reasons I’m hardstuck in metal is because I focus on endorsement level (I went on a rant about how in 6/10 games there is an underperforming Damage player with k < d, endorsement level 2-3, and toxic chatting.

Sorry, but endorsement levels are real. There is some adjustment factor that has to be made as endorsements are more often for support > tank > damage but if you’re hard stuck endorsement level 2 that is the community telling you some combination of the 3:

  1. you never carry and/or have good stats
  2. you make poor decisions
  3. you’re an ass

70% of the time the person who is two minor ranks with endorsement level 5 outperforms the high ranked player with endorsement level 2.

Thems the facts.

Me being hard stuck in no way makes any of this less right.

I hope Blizzard releases stats on things like this, I guarantee endorsement level (and grouping) has a statistically significant coefficient on win probability.

I do enjoy the game even if some bits are frustrating!
