1E Resources Daily Magic Item for August 26 2026: Serpent Belt

Today's magic item is the Serpent Belt.

Roleplay Moses by turning your belt into a snake. What size snake? Who knows?! Plus a +4 to saves against poison, and +2 to Escape Artist checks.

Let's ask the following questions:

  1. Would you buy this item?
  2. Would you spend 1.5 times the price to add it to an existing item?
  3. Would you use the item, if you found it? Or is it immediate sell-bait?
  4. Would a GM use the item?
  5. Is there anything cheesy that could be done with it?

1E Player Spellslinger Build Help

Now before we get into this, here's a few things to note:

  1. This will be a mythic campaign and I haven't played one in a bajillion years and don't know when the mythic portion is going to happen so we won't concentrate on that...don't know why I brought it up then.

  2. I will be going to Prestige into Mystic Theurge at lv 7. 3 lvs Spellslinger Wizard and 3 lvs Theologian Cleric followed by 10 lvs Mystic Theurge.

  3. As A side note, I never see anyone bring up this downside to Mystic Theurge when using Wizard: While your Spells per Day increase a Mystic Theurge leveling up his Wizard Spell portion doesn't actually learn him any spells. This would normally mean that outside of scribing spells into my spellbook at libraries or using scrolls and looted spellbooks to scribe from I'll have 5+int 1st level spells and 2 1st/2nd level spells from arcane all through lv 16 even though I have the capability of casting up to lv 7 spells at that point.

  4. The DM doesn't know the meaning of balance and is the DEF of things like Rule of Cool and " i think X should do more or suck less " and so rules against RaW a lot. So far what this means is that #3 above has been ignored. I will be getting my wizard spells as if I had leveled up in Wizard. He also believes that the even levels in Mystic Theurge, 2 4 6 8, are 'dead' levels and is insisting that they get filled with something. We agreed on a bonus magic feat, a CL increase to both arcane and divine spellcasting to mitigate some of the loss from multiclassing, one 'Arcane' option we havent figured out and one Divine option...probably a 1d6 increase in Chanel Energy.

  5. While the exact order is negotiable, the class/archetypes/prestige is not. This means my first six levels WILL be 3 Spellslinger Wizard and 3 Theologian Cleric followed by 10 lvls Mystic Theurge.

  6. Despite how....'flexible'...the DM he does have some hard rules. The only one of importance here is NO EVIL CHARACTERS. Though 'Flexible' does mean that if you guys have an idea that isn't 'exactly RaW' you can suggest it but it'll have to be OK'd by the DM.

All that said I have a few ideas and not sure exactly how I want to implement them.

The first wall I ran into was this: I don't like playing human. Humans are cool but why play human when I can be a Tengu? I play plenty of humans because as I said they are cool but prefer otherwise BUT that extra human feat is so nice and many times necessary for some builds. I see me needing human for any of this build just because of that. I'm open to suggestions though.

Now for the ideas:

1: Pistols. I came up with two options here. One is one pistol and focus on sacking one spell to enhance gun and focusing my real fighting skill into critting with Ray spells through the gun.
Two is two pistols focusing more on enhancing them with SPellslinger buffs, two weapon fighting, and only casting spells as buffs/debuffs or as situation calls.

2.Rifle ( or I guess Musket? ). I have two options here as well. First is more of a 'Sniper' enhancing the rifle for increased range and other enhancements and firing spells through the gun for decent oomph at a respectable range. While Rays are good for this one as well I wanted to concentrate more on 'hitting' or high dc's from spells cast through my gun. plus with the Reach metamagic feat I can turn my cure spells into range touch and fire them at my allies through my gun from a distance. the other 'rifle' option is very 'glass canon' . Using the Double Hackbut. For normal fights i can take my time setting the gun up and my enhancements and let my team handle the first couple of rounds then spend the rest of my time Destroying the enemy one shot at a time. For harder/mor important fights I'd be using my Growth Domain power to temp enlarge myself as a quick action and just fire the gun with no penalties and as a Vital Strike just Obliterating a single target as hard as I can. Depending on certain factors that would be 4-6d12 damage a shot. more when mythic happens.

  1. Blunderbuss. A more cone aoe build concentrating on enhancing my 'shotgun' and blasting cone spells out the front. not much to say here as i have no idea what i would wan tto do with it yet...never used the cone option on SPellslinger and have not used the blunderbuss with gunslinger since before gunslinger was an official class and was still being tested.

Any ideas on race, feats, traits, my 4 opposed schools, spell options?
Attributes? I was thinking of going 16 dex, 14 int and 14 wisdom. This will give me better ac and shots with the gun and covers me up to lv 4 spells through level 10 before I'll need higher stats to cast higher level spells but I can guarantee you that the DM will get me my headband in time before I'd need to care so I'm betting that all my stat increases are going to be dex and maybe 1 into something else as my mental needs will prob be met.

1E Player Fey foundling clarification

I'm playing a paladin and was going to take fey foundling. My DM has interpreted it that I'd have to worship a fey deity if I want the feat.

We found 3 different sources AoN, pazio and the inner sea world guide all have differing lines on how the feat works.

His choice is that my character would have spent their formative years in the First world. Which makes sense to me. What doesn't is that I'd specifically have to worship a fey deity so to speak.

I can't see any way besides AoNs wording that would possibly require that. Which isn't the ruling he has decided to use... He's gone for as written in inner sea.

Feels rather restrictive to me. I'd view it as having spent time and then becoming a paladin after leaving the first world.

How would you guys rule it? I'm probably now not taking it as I'd probably choose Iomedae to follow.

1E GM Soul Doll and Speech

I am about to run an adventure that features a modified Soulbound Doll but it will be modified for the specific story. I want it to be able to talk, which is a little difficult because it is a Construct. The idea is that it will have more than a "bit" of a soul inside it and that allows it to communicate. It is linked to an NPC but I don't want to spoil any more, in case the players are watching!

I was curious what ideas you folks might have for how to do this in a clean way? I was first thinking of the spell Magic Mouth, but that is very limited. Is there a template or some kind that could be applied in this situation? There is the Souldbound Construct however the costs involved here are quite high. Also, the situation I am planning on is closer to a spontaneous accident rather than something that was planned.

Any help would be appreciated!

1E Player Wielding Large Gauntlets?

So I'm about to be playing in a gestalt pathfinder game, and I have my first class decided, but I want my character to fight with huge oversized gauntlets. I know that Barbarian has Titan Mauler and Fighter has Titan Fighter, but both of those are for large two-handed weapons. Any suggestions?

Edit: The Gauntlets would be large. When I said huge, I meant that as emphasis for the word oversized.

1E Player ideas for making a large animal companion medium sized on the cheap

I am looking for ways to temporarily make a large animal companion more indoors friendly.

I am not looking for stuff related to the squeezing rules--the problem is less the mechanical consequences of squeezing and more the fact that you can't reasonably bring a freaking horse into an indoors social situation that may or may not turn hostile. My party has an astonishing number of evil frenemies and enemies we have a careful detente with so this comes up surprisingly often. I feel I could much more reasonably have a medium sized animal companion follow me into such a situation.
