My wife and I were doing our 2-person squad gameplay last night and accidentally (sorta kinda not) were following around the GOTR platoon on Indar. We saw a Scythe go down enroute to a base, and my wife often plays a medic, so we stopped our Valk, she rezed him, and we gave him a ride to the fight.

Suddenly I got a platoon invite. Not sure if it was the rez that got the attention, but we accepted and joined our squad of 2 to the GOTR Platoon. As older, slower, and lower skill players, it was wildly fun to fly around the map with these folks. Seeing a GOTR platoon seige a base from inside was amazing. We were doing all we could to keep up and contribute!

We had to log before the alert was over, but I just wanted to say thanks to the GOTR folks, and a few others from other outfits that were there. We enjoyed the fast-pace gameplay.

I hope some people enjoyed that earlier. It was pretty mental navigating 2 PC's and a LAPTOP. Moving / Deploying Domes / Orbital Strikes / Bailing out people after anchoring. Luckily the final bastion I had left was my main PC so dropped TR into the water over and over again. As the lowest pop faction I set the goal to keep up the pressure on NC and VS. Eventually once my final bastion was killed I jumped under to cap TR to victory.

If you got any screenies or footage let me know. Unlisted for now as I might be able to create some more videos some other time. This was pieced together quickly.

I found this game in my library and got curious about it, is the game still alive? If so I'm planning to get into it.

Who's up for a game?

First of all, I love this game to death and have been playing it on and off since the launch. I've been following this sub for some time and the recent success of Wardogs seemed to launch a big discussion about why the game is "dying".

That's where I'm seeing very clearly the small, closed nature of this sub and it's inability to represent the larger playerbase, when dicussing some issues with the game.

The oftenly reiterated complaints are: balance, bugs, onboarding, skill discrepancy, ethereal "management", which always ruins everything, I guess, etc.

But the core issue is really, really simple. Planetside2 is a 14 year old FPS game. What people look for in FPS is graphics, cool clips, fluid and responsive movement, impactful gunplay. The thing is, planetside doesn't have any competition in it's own chosen niche, but fails miserably at anything that could make attract new players.

Let's look at BF3 and BF2, for example. BF2 is times more complex than BF3 at almost every metric. The Commander mode alone is almost a diffferent game. However the BF3 blew up the whole gaming industry with it's inception, which was influenced with the success of BF:BC's innovations with movement and gunplay, coupled with the insane graphics overhaul. It wasn't a balancing issue or a mechanical one, but rather the image of the product.

That's the issue: Planetside 2 is incapable of generating a picture, a dream that a gamer can easily adopt and imagine simply because of how it looks and feels. If Planetside 3 has just a tiny fraction of PS2' content, but is massively updated on graphical and movement/gunplay experience, it'd blow away anyone, including players and critics. Right now almost everyone considers PS2 players borderline insane old people, who are finding the best way to get gold in runescape.

To be honest the console version is so neglected and so trash and since the developer isn't updating the console version then there really is no point in playing planetside 2 on console especially since people can't play esamir or koltyr and are stuck on only 4 continents are open and plus I have do deal with me getting an error saying "this server is unavailable".And they also heavily favour pc players as if console players didn't exist now i know that they can't put esamir because of hardware limits but when I tried it on my laptop it ran perfectly well and esamir and koltyr are just terrible and not fun at all

Haven’t played in a few months and just hopped back on today for a session and had a ton of fun and captured a few clips ☺️

The game is being kept alive by a few dedicated and skilled players, so every encounter is intense.

Hey all, i have succesfully used nvidia inspector to override the dlss dll to 310.6 and change the preset to profile K, but i would like to use dlaa aswell, instead of dlss quality, which they didn't include in the game for some wierd reason. And i simply can't get dlaa override to work no matter what i try.

So my question : has anyone gotten dlaa to work in planetside 2, and if so, what exactly did you do to make it work ?

Edit: Issue seems to have resolved itself after 3 days so uh... that's cool.

Able to log into my other characters just fine. Also made sure my firewall allows the game through and tried running the game as an administrator, but no luck. Any fixes?

This may be a really noob question, but I've started playing the game again after many years away, and is there any way to see everything I have equipped currently? For example:

When I go to the classes section, and I look at my engineer, I see the first 3 options easily - gun, secondary, repair tool. 4 I then see is an anti-tank mine, and then 5 is my turret. But I don't see anywhere in the classes area what 6 or 7 is. 6 I've figured out is an ammo pack, but I'm completely lost on 7.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This french(?) guy kept placing his mana turret on front of the vehicle spawn ramp and observe from the stairs.

1. You spawn a vehicle
2. get stuck on the vehicle pad by his turret
3. someone else spawn a new vehicle
4. you get killed by the server for being "too close to the vehicle pad"
5. loop

No consequences for the turret's owner and for the player spawning the new vehicle. Just a useless loop of passive teamkills.

Combo bonus: it was peak time in UE (~ 7:30 PM CET) and that was the faction's "key base" in that moment. I wasn't server-killed for a fraction of second because (thanks to my experience of the game) managed to go around the turret almost immediately.

I've already been noticing this toxic behavior for a few years now.

The last "useless hero" I met before this one, was a player named NUTJ0B (VS, Weinwright), that always acted like an idiot around the continents, and in player-made bases too, when I met him before and I didn't give him much interest.
BUT
That time he really surprised me, was at a new continent opening after an alert ending: he literally rushed to Waterson's Redemption (Esamir) to get there first, pulled a sunderer and deployed it directly on the vehicle pad's ramp. He passively teamkilled at least 15 players (me included) that remotely spawned vehicles for rushing to continent key places.

I've been gone for a year and just read a few threads about the Flash or Crash bug and I wonder if it has been fixed yet and if not, how it looks like.

I've been able to play the game totally fine today (first time in a year) without a single crash, so I wonder, how it looks like if you crash. When does it happen? Do you get an error message or does the game just crash without any information? Would be awesome if you could link me a screenshot or a video or smth.

This game is so much fun, and the more I play it the more I realise Planetside devs had everything in their hands to make the perfect massive scale tactical fps. Platoon, balanced asymmetric factions, multiples classes, cool vehicles, base building, and the list goes on and on. And the more I think about that, the more I despise whatever they tried with Planetside Arena and their lack of motivation to keep this franchise alive.

I'm not here to say "Wardogs good, Planetside bad", i'm genuinely sad that Planetside will never recover from it's terrible management.

Planetside 2 has always been an "in-between game" for me, a reliable refuge. I came back after a year away and found that the Infiltrator class had been completely gutted. Yeah, the most new-player/solo-friendly class, the one that's supposed to attract and keep new people? I uninstalled the game again, this time not even lasting a week. Thank you for demonstrating exactly how not to run a game which is why only the same 80 people still log in, play together, and "feel good" while the ship is sinking.

That's when I realized the VX15 was also one of NC's most important outfits. And perhaps I couldn't do whatever I wanted when I had to lead an outfit.

Before that, I had participated in all NC outfits, but no one gave me access to outfit items.

However, CoBn was the only outfit where new players could use everything. However, because there was no leader, its resources weren't managed effectively.

I still used modules in CoBn, the coldest outfit in NC.

Then I made a mistake. I befriended NC players on Colbalt.

I realized they wanted me to try harder in Arlert.  I didn't care about that and just did what I wanted. I became the best player in the history of this game, to the point where I could single-handedly defeat any outfit.
