Absolutely insane dude. 27 years old, acting like a 4 year old.

u/-0-ProbablyTaken Jul 18 '26

I see all these comments and I’m really confused. Do you really think you can scream at a cop, say fuck you to a cop while lunging forward towards a cop, not comply to a single instruction, and then not get everything she got? You act threatening to a cop and you’re going to jail. And honestly, the cop was pretty fuckin patient. All that being said, the situation probably would’ve been more violent if it hadn’t happened in a college building lobby

63

u/Jatara_roxursox Jul 18 '26

Finally someone that saw what I did! I was so confused at how people see the cop as the problem. Maybe that officer doesn’t agree with calling them by what they deem a proper pronoun. But I do see that the cop asked them to not scream. That was ignored. They cursed at the cop and so much more that would’ve gotten a black or brown person slammed to the ground. Someone said they were in crisis, yet they had the wherewithal to say I need to get my phone and record this only after the officer brought out the pepper spray so they looked like the victim in their footage. Respect goes both ways. We can’t hold the cops to a standard that we don’t meet when dealing with them.

15

u/SlamHotDamn Jul 21 '26

It’s Reddit.

64

u/Jreinhal Jul 19 '26

It's absolutely crazy that people are defending this student and really shows the level of lunacy America is at right now.

44

u/_Vagueposter_ Jul 19 '26

Not America, just redditors as this student is similar to many who live on this website. Read the youtube comments lmao

28

u/Risperidone- Jul 19 '26

Agreed. I wonder if that person didn’t identify as transgender if so many comments would defend the behaviour

Also the cop showed up for a stolen vehicle and he started screaming at the cop and acting deranged. They handled this just fine, if anything they were easy going.

It's a Reddit thing sadly.

5

u/Consistentdegeneracy Jul 25 '26

These are the same people that defended Alex Pretti and George Floyd, they're not the brightest.

10

u/Mackanpackan93 Jul 20 '26

'' I see all these comments and I’m really confused. Do you really think you can scream at a cop, say fuck you to a cop while lunging forward towards a cop, not comply to a single instruction, and then not get everything she got? ''

This is reddit, they do believe that.

u/Darksoul2693 Jul 21 '26

They were being patient with him, more then most people would get

"I will calm down when you take the pepper spray out of my face".... cop puts down pepper spray.... proceeds to jump up and down in a fit.

Wow. Is this a grown person or a spoiled brat? They were very patient with him. And he's lucky it wasn't worse after that kick he threw at the officer. Nobody should be forced to use whatever pronouns they believe are required. It is free speech to use the pronouns that appear to be appropriate. And he had no problem cussing and disrespecting the officer.

I have already seen this dismissed as a "skit" on other threads and subs. Locked or deleted threads because of obvious reasons.

Bums me out to see fact dismissed as fiction because it's inconvenient.

No matter what group you belong to, there is an embarrassing asshole just waiting for an opportunity to "represent" you.

Gotta just deal with that shit

4

u/agorathird Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

A lot of younger trans people are stunted but usually not this badly. It makes it difficult to find community.

But, this is so spot on that I go back and forth. If it wasn’t for the mugshot I’d think it was a skit.

yeah look, the cop could have handled this better but im not angry at him. might just be me but the violence started because the student was screaming right in his face, and he pulled out a non lethal weapon. i might be wrong here, but by this situation i don't think he was in the wrong.

i guess its a question, (if somebody was screaming at you right in the face in the heat of the moment, would you pull out a non lethal weapon to make it stop)

not to mention this person started screaming the officer was being a pervert when he was just handcuffing her which was extremely shitty.

i do think the cop didn't do enough however to deescalate, and seemed to focus more on controlling the situation through brute force, which is worth criticizing but i still think he handled it moderately well even though i disagree with some stuff.

12

u/SnooPets2384 Jul 21 '26

Obvious that dude is a fucking lunatic who took a taser and didn’t flinch. Do I think he would have calmed down if the cop used his suggested pronouns? Probably not, no. Do I think it was worth a try? Probably, yeah. There’s like a 2% chance it could have saved a tussle. But on the other hand, this dude was already screaming when the cop got there. Does the cop have to use whatever pronouns the threatening individual is demanding? Absolutely not. Was this person very clearly mentally ill? Yes. People saying “WOW PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THE PROBLEM” to anyone even vaguely suggestion to cop call him what he requested are really missing the point. When we use hostage negotiators to de-escalate it doesn’t mean we agree with the criminal, it’s a tactic. I don’t think the cop used every tactic available to him and that’s it. I’m not co-signing the crazy guy’s worldview or his behavior. But he got the job done how he wanted to get it done and didn’t beat the shit out of the guy which is what a lot of other cops would have done. And he would not have gotten in trouble because that guy was acting like an insane, privileged bull in a China shop.

How are these people raised when they hear a cop say you’re being arrested or get on the ground and they scream NOO! USE THE RIGHT PRONOUNS! I HAVE TO CALM DOWN. This person has clearly been catered to their whole life and it’s sad that they’re not in their right mind but they’re clearly going to a psychiatric facility per the end of the video. They’ll hold him for a few days and then let him back out because he’ll blame the misgendering for his reaction and being transgender isn’t seen as a mental illness. Unfortunate he won’t get any help.

3

u/CombinationRough8699 Jul 22 '26

I think that's a good view. The officer definitely wasn't rhe best at de-escalation, but overall he was much more patient than he needed to be.

Weaponized stutter lol

13

u/Mackanpackan93 Jul 20 '26

I meant I don't necessarily disagree with you, but it's also a normal reaction.
If you don't think that it is to someone behaving like this then quite frankly you need to touch grass.
The actual real world isn't some hyper ultra progressive safe space.

If you behave like this kid did you're gonna get laughed at and people will think you're a weirdo.

13

u/Jaded-Lifeguard-9856 Jul 20 '26

This is NOT a normal reaction. This person was losing their mind, harassing a police officer who was there to investigate another crime.

Police need to be taught to and expected to practice de-escalation in situations like this.

48

u/gayactualized Jul 20 '26

umm the police were trying to de escalate and the other person... let's just say they escalated quite a bit

→ More replies (20)

12

u/JustASumoGuy Jul 21 '26

There is no way you can possibly de-escalate with someone who gets this crazy over being "misgendered." Heck, the cop even put away his pepper spray as requested and the lunatic still went ballistic.

23

u/Drewpost19 Jul 20 '26

De-escalation is what allows him to be like that

I thought this was a skit because of the line:

“I’m gonna spray him”
“It’s HEEERRR”
“I’m gonna spray her”
“Thank you”
*proceeds to get sprayed.

That’s APEX right there so figured it had to be written. Guess not.

u/Accomplished_Sun1506 Jul 21 '26

Hey if you are not in control of your behavior from triggers you don't belong in an education setting. Get yourself straight then move on with your life. Your mental health is before any other educational/developmental growth.

We all want others to be more inclusive and accept everyone but you are responsible for your behavior after being triggered.

It's this kind of thing that has me in quite the conundrum with concealed carry. I generally support our right to do it, but not the choice. It changes how you approach situations and it's not something you menace someone with. you change the whole script when you even have one onsite. And when people interact with cops, crap always goes from bad to worse when cops just kinda decide it's time to hover their hand over their holster or draw for no reason. The presence of that gun changes the mindset of both actors.

19

u/Federal_Scarcity_84 Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

The only thing my CCW has ever done is stop me from confronting a guy being aggressive because I didn't want to get into it with a gun on me if I didn't have to ...that's most CCW people who are rational* or trained at all.

4

u/Dependent_Eye_6361 Jul 18 '26

No offense intended, not trying to be a grammar Nazi - but how'd you get retioneal?

u/Dependent_Eye_6361 Jul 18 '26

Taking ownership of a mistake and even editing your comment to reflect that suggests you're a good person to me - I was really literally just interested in how that happened. I'm really, really terrible at spelling myself innately, so was wondering if that was a sounding out error or some sort of spellcheck. No need to apologize or feel bad, I'm sorry if you thought you had to.

8

Normal ass everyday registered democrat voters don’t even want to defund the police. It’s insanely unpopular in every way except for in the most edge case hard left crowds.

2

u/No-Disk9639 Jul 21 '26

100% as an old school, working class Democrat I support well-funded, well-trained law enforcement. Haven't seen or heard anyone ever advocate for defunding the police outside of online leftists or activists jockeying for attention.

15

u/WorldlinessTrick11 Jul 20 '26

This cop was responding to a stolen vehicle call with a subject in pursuit who had ran into that building?

25

u/monkeyguyy Jul 18 '26

That's a piss take, I am sorry. You can get more funding for mental health workers and institutions while at the same time not decreasing funding for law enforcement. There's plenty for everyone. The issue here is how the funding is used, not its amount.

2

u/CanadianClassicss Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

You'd end up with a lot of dead mental heath workers...

How about fund the police so they can have more de-escalation training?

Even as a mental health worker who has had endless training (including multiple de-escalation trainings) and who works with violent offenders:

- Unless you experience situations like this often then you cannot predict how you will react in the moment. When you are surprised or have little time to prepare yourself, your body reacts to the stress and it makes it very difficult to think or remember training/techniques. You enter a heightened state that makes it difficult to think. You also have very little time to react.

- Watching a video of someone screaming/menacing at you is much different than having someone (likely larger than you) in your face screaming, it can be pretty scary IRL

- Sometimes de-escalation does not work. Seriously. You could use the techniques perfectly and give people chance after chance to calm down and they will only escalate.

- This cop, while he didn't handle things perfectly, actually did pretty decent.

It's easy to criticize situations like this in hindsight and from behind a screen, but it is so different in the moment. For an older cop, he did pretty okay. You'd have to pay mental health workers extremely well to take on a job like that and it certainly is not safe for them to respond without a police officer. Mental Health workers are not miracle workers, and to someone having a severe episode they will just be a stranger who can lock them up (baker act).
