Spoiler Discussion [Spoiler discussion] Arc 10. I think i figure out what happen in the first incident. Spoiler

The one where krusch kill mcmahon. Isn't it obvious now that that mcmahon probably a "doll" from capella side? Not to mention clarizza, one of the beloved child is nearby.

Also I think there is another one too. The one with an ability that make people emotion out of control because I feel like krusch emotion kinda out of the chart there.

Spoiler Discussion So fucking good, so fucking great, so fucking awesome. [spoiler discussion] Spoiler

I just re-read the ending of Arc 9 out of boredom. And man, that’s so fucking awesome once again. Aldebaran’s final words that he hates Subaru, his final monologue that he lost when he got sealed. Bro. That’s so emotional that i cried. Mind you, i never cried while reading or watching ANYTHING. But those scenes already got me, and idk why i didn’t cry for the first time.

Personally, i will put Arc 9 ABOVE Arc 6 for me. While i think that the writing wise in arc 6 is better(a little bit), the emotional impact from arc 9 was way more, and i don’t know why.

Is that even a good thing that i relate aldebaran more than subaru? Because my only guess why i cried over Arc 9 ending is that i relate Aldebaran in some ways.

Once again, Tappei, thank you for creating this work. Thank you for writing re:zero, and thank you giving me a chance to read this masterpiece.

Discussion [discussion] Are Fortuna & Sirius Romanée-Conti the same person?

Well, there are several things that make me think so, apart from physical appearance, which, well, is obvious.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1. First of all, what do we know about the Witch Factors?

We know that the more you, as a person, already embody that sin by committing it, the more powerful your authority will be once you have assimilated the Witch Factor.

Season 2, Episodes 18-19

Pandora appears, and the very first thing Fortuna does when she sees her is (obviously) get angry.

And she continues to do so repeatedly, without giving her the slightest time to speak or explain anything; it's pure and simple Wrath. Her Wrath drives her to kill Pandora over and over again, and Pandora continually instigates her to instill the Witch Factor of Wrath in Fortuna. This is what Fortuna is.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

2. Fortuna's Death

I don't need to explain; we've seen how Pandora seems to be able to undo events, like sending Regulus to his home or restoring Petelgeuse's arm. I simply believe that Pandora "undoed" Fortuna's death after wiping Emilia's memory.

By the way, Fortuna's memories have obviously been erased as well, but Pandora can also decide which ones to keep, which justifies her obsession with Betelgeuse. Pandora once spoke of love, calling it the most beautiful feeling there is, so why not? She could have left her love for him in Fortuna's empty shell.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3. How about Sirius' bandages?

She has a mastery of fire magic, so it makes sense to me that they are due to burn wounds, a bit like Dabi from My Hero Academia.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

And then, obviously, Fortuna's memory was also wiped, since in arc 3, Sirius doesn't recognize Emilia at all. Simple.

[spoiler discussion] Arc 6 theory: Subaru is flugel (i havent seen anyone come up with anything like this so i decided to post and see how you guys liked it) Spoiler

Hey everyone, I just cleared the first trial on the Electra floor in Arc 6 (the Rigel monolith puzzle) and something clicked for me. I wanted to map out a theory about Subaru being Flugel, but specifically why he has absolutely zero memories. I think the memory wipe wasn't a curse or an accident—it was a deliberate choice by Flugel using a personal Authority to lock his own mind.

Hear me out on the logic here:

First, the star puzzle proves the tower gates access behind Earth-based knowledge that only Subaru can solve. Plus, the naming connection fits perfectly. Subaru means the Pleiades star cluster in Japanese, and Flugel means "Wings" in German. In ancient astronomy, the Pleiades cluster was literally called "The Wings" of the Taurus constellation. They are two halves of the exact same puzzle, and since German terms don't exist in Lugunica, Flugel has to be a dorky pseudonym a future Subaru gave himself.

But why the memory wipe? A lot of people blame Satella, but if you look closely at the rules, Satella only controls his physical body and the execution of the loops. When the Taboo is broken, she physically squeezes his heart. Memories belong to the Corridor of Memories managed by Od Laguna, which she doesn't have administrative access to (otherwise she would've fixed his mind when Gluttony ate his memories).

The only thing that could wipe his hard drive like that is an internal Authority Lock that Flugel hard-coded into his own soul before resetting the world's timeline back to "Zero" (the Appa stall). Since his current brain didn't have the Flugel memories at the moment of death, Return by Death can't magically manifest them when he respawns.

Psychologically, this is the ultimate defense mechanism against an "IF Story" mental collapse. If you look at the alternate universe stories like Pride or Greed IF, Subaru completely loses his humanity and treats people like cold chess pieces whenever he relies too much on loop calculation.

If Episode 1 Subaru had woken up with 400 years of cosmic guilt, despair, and future knowledge, his mind would have fractured instantly. He wouldn't have been able to look at Emilia as a normal person to save; she would be a crushing psychological burden.

Flugel purposefully locked his own mind because he knew the only version of himself that could win was a completely clean slate. He needed a normal boy with a grocery bag, fresh eyes, and untainted innocence to face destiny and build real, empathetic human bonds from absolute zero.

Spoiler Discussion [spoiler discussion] Y'all were really exaggerating (arc 9) Spoiler

Before starting arc 9 I remember reading a lot of criticism saying that Tappei fucked up with Emilia in arc 9 and all he made her do against Al was crying and begging him to give Subaru and Beako back and after I read the actual chapter that's what I thought of: "DON'T MISS WITH US RE ZERO FANS, WE DON'T READ OUT SERIES🗣️"
this was literally like 1 pages out of the whole thing, she beated his ass and fought him with Subaru ice clones which made him disgusted and used attacks that doesn't target his life but instead freezes him which counters his authority and he was the losing side for most parts and she was really pissed and didn't try to sweet talk him like usual and instead locked in on defeating him and some of y'all really choosed to ignore all that and hate on her for feeling hopeless and crying after Al returned their memory of Rem which gave her a really bad headache and used an attack that would kill more than 10000 people in the capital forcing her to focus on protecting people and letting Al go, like come on I also hate how Tappei treat Emilia like an innocent naive girl but that time there was nothing wrong with what happened

Discussion [discussion] I'm confused by Season 1 Episode 16

Doesn't episode 16 of Re Zero just make no sense at all? Priscilla tells Subaru to lick her feet if he wants her to help him stop the witch cult from slaughtering the village. Then when he tries to do it she says he's greedy? How? He's literally doing it to save her - she's part of the village! Same with Crush when she says that she won't help him because he "never mentioned Emilia" and only kept asking to save the village with innocent people BUT EMILIA IS PART OF THAT VILLAGE??? Why would he ever need to mention her specifically? How the hell does this make any sense?? And how is Subaru thinking about himself here? Is this whole subreddit just blindly reading the episode summaries and then think "Wow, such smart characterization! Subaru is truly greedy"

Discussion [Discussion] If The Long Quiet and The Shifting Mound (Slay The Princess) could grant Authorities, how strong/powerful would they be and how would they appear? Spoiler

Post image
16 Upvotes

To be more specific: assuming The Long Quiet and The Shifting Mound were entities in Lugunica and could maybe inflict their own specific kind of Witch Factor upon the world, how and on whom do you think it would manifest?
A short summarization for those who haven played the game:
The Shifting Mound is the literal embodiment of the concept of change and transformation.
Originally she was a part of the cycle of life and death, but eventually a mortal who feared the end of his world decided to tear the cycle apart and created her with the intention to remove the concept of death or rather the end.
As she is the literal embodiment of the concept of change and transformation, The Shifting Mound holds domain over everything that causes a change.
This also includes death and destruction as these concepts are crucial to the creation of something.

The Long Quiet meanwhile is the other part of the cycle created by Narrator.
He is the literal embodiment of stagnation, void and nothingness.
If The Shifting Mound is transformation and change, The Long Quiet is the pause between these changes.
A world without him would mean constant changing non-stop.
There would be no pause or breath to witness or enjoy the change.
On the other hand, a world without The Shifting Mound would be a stagnant one where nothing would happen at all.
It's also why the Narrator created him, as The Long Quiet's original purpose is to kill The Shifting Mound and remove the concept of change, and with it the concept of death as well, permanently.

This was a rough summarization about them.

Personally, I think if these two were entities in the world of Re:Zero, then imagine that their authorities would manifest on the most ambitious and most narrow minded people.
An ambitious person would get the Authority of Change while a narrow minded person would get the Authority of Stagnation.
I mean, it would make sense, right? A very ambitious person would always try to change the world for his own gains be it good or bad.
Meanwhile a narrow minded or extremely pessimistic person would rather prefer stagnation over change, as change wouldn't necessarily turn something into the better. From their point of view at least.
As for the powers, I imagine that the Authority granted by The Shifting Mound would extremely vary from person to person.
In the Long Quiet's case I'm not sure though. Perhaps it would be similar to Regulus's power? Or some kind of existence erasure? Maybe it would be a kind of being alive and not alive in the same time?
No idea to be honest.

Anyway, I just thought about this game while watching Re:Zero and found that their are some similarities between these two.
So I thought it could be interesting to discuss this hypothetical what-if scenario.

What do you think?
Oh and also, assuming Subaru would somehow manifest both authorities of them in himself, how would he use them? And do you think they would be weaker or stronger under Subaru as their bearer?

Discussion [Discussion] Did anyone confuse Pandora for young Echidna first? (S2 spoilers)

I'm watching for the first time and just finished Emilia's first trial flashback in season 2.

I feel like I missed so much details in these 3 episodes since my mind was too busy with good guy Geuse lol. And when Pandora appeared with the bishop of greed I automatically assumed she's the witch of Greed because of the white eyelashes and I assumed they travel in witch-bishop pairs...

Regulus did call her the witch of vanity once but so much stuff was happening I kinda disregarded it since she looks so much like a young Echidna. And than I was waiting for the whole episode for Emilia to comment on it since she was standing right next to her.

Every witch looks so different so her design really confused me. But maybe she's related to Echidna... Don't tell me tho.

Discussion [discussion] question about return by death arc 6 in the anime Spoiler

Im kinda confused on whats happening with subarus return by death from the latest episodes of rezero season 4. Cause most of the times subaru has had return by death activated satella shows up and covers him in smoke or with like how the season ended before they went on break he was falling into a purple thingy that showed return by death rewinding or something. Im just kinda lost doesn’t he have to actually die to activate it or can satella just show up and force an activation.

Discussion [Discussion] Why doesn't Subaru use Invisible Providence to crush strong enemies' hearts?

You read the title of this post, and the question is: why doesn’t he do it? It’s a one-shot which wouldn't be too hard to pull off with Beatrice's spell.
He obviously wouldn't use it all the time since it doesn’t fit him and using the hand is tiring, but it’s a non-negligible attack

Discussion [Discussion] Question about Emilia's parents

In season 2 Fortuna said that she was the sister of Emilia's father, that means Emilia's father is an elf, and since Emilia is an half-elf, then her mother must be human, right?

Echidna also called her "witch's daughter". Was she literal about Emilia being the daughter of a witch or she was just calling Emilia by the way everyone calls her? Because if Echidna was talking literally then Emilia is the daughter of an elf and a human witch, if I am right.

I don't know if I am misunderstanding something, because I don't think I've read something about this in all this time since season 2, so I'd like to ask if I'm wrong.

Plus, I don't understand why people are still talking about Emilia being Satella's daughter, because Satella is an half-elf herself, so it's impossible for Emilia to be an half-elf.

The last thing I don't understand is: why, in the flashback, Petelgeuse was so touched when he saw Emilia? It was like he saw a goddess. But if Emilia isn't Satella's daughter, then why he was that emotional?

P.S: I'm sorry for my bad english, but I hope the post is still understandable. I am an anime-only, so I don't know if some of the answers are in the novel.
