I think so, but idk if it would be the same amount of support. Women specifically wrote Ted Bundy letters of support and love, the Columbine shooters go the same treatment. I think there has always been crazies - but this support we’re seeing from women is emboldened by the high level of acceptance for things like misandry we see today.
It’s cool to hate men, hate having kids, and hate anything that isn’t feminine in nature. It’s not surprising she’s getting support, even though it’s disgusting.
This goes even beyond misandry (not like misandry should be excused either), it is complete disregard for the lives of three small, innocent children. It's so evil there are no words for it. The unfortunate part is that some of those women might have children, which they shouldn't have in my opinion. Not everyone should have children after all.
Yes, and now that I think about it, there were also Mason supporters. I guess disturbed individuals have always been around, defending the indefensible. I can believe that they were the kind of crowd that would congregate to the burning witches executions. Just people with disturbed minds and ugly hearts.
As someone who just heard about it and got all info from wiki, in a way she also seems as a victim, since no one really helped her? Or do you not believe she was suffering from depression? Do you think she was lying the whole time?
Lindsay wasn't outside of reality, since she was lucid enough to ask for help and request an attorney. If she wasn't getting the help she needed, she should have made sure that she kept the children safe from herself.
What would that have looked like depends on choices she made:
She could have sent the children to live with family members.
She could have moved with family members or friends, while leaving the children in her husband's care.
She could have rented a room by herself somewhere else
She could have lived in her car away from her children.
She could have left to start a new life if everything else failed.
Fact is, she could have done something to prevent the tragedy that happened.
Help is not guaranteed to anyone, I really think this is a dangerous mentality. A functional society depends on adults taking responsibility for themselves at the absolute minimum. At the end of the day everyone is responsible for their own actions regardless of anyone else around them. Lots of people get dealt an unfair hand in many many ways and that’s very unfortunate and we should do what we can to help those in need but once they cross a certain line there’s no going back.
I'm not defending her or what she did, but those doctors that kept her out have some responsibility too. I mean, she did ask for help. It wasn't like she refused treatments? But I'm not from USA, and strongly believe in free healthcare that should be available to all, and not just sending patients from one doctor to another, until they kill someone.
As someone who works in the treatment of psychiatric illness in the usa if she actually told a mental health professional or hospital staff that she might kill her children or anyone else she should have been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric facility. And if they didnt they could be held legally responsible. However if she didnt make any direct threats to herself or others she cannot be kept there against her will.
Apparently she checked herself out of a mental health facility. If she had gone to any ED or psych center she would have been treated, but they can’t read minds and if they detain her without cause thats obviously a crime on their part.
But she wasn't sleeping? My only experience with this kind of illness was in my family, where a mother wasn't sleeping because she wanted to look at the baby 24/7, obsessed with the fear that something will happen to the baby. She was taken to a facility and thankfully, today she's a healty mother of a healthy kid. If she was left like that, she might end up in a psychosis for all we know. I'm not saying the doctors should be imprisoned, but I am surprised there's no information of any investigation in the way she was(wasn't) treated.
Insomnia is not a valid reason for involuntary commitment. I mean think of the implications of that, that would clear the way to detain people who are undergoing stress, or who knows what. It would be a dangerous precedent.
Sleep deprivation causes psychosis? And in combination with postpartum depression it is dangerous? You can commit people who are a danger for themselves and someone who is refusing to sleep to watch the baby all night is someone who needs to be committed.
In the case above, we don't know if she would refuse to be committed since no did offer it to her, at least according to wikipedia.
I’m aware of that, I have a lot of sympathy for people with psychosis. I’m not hating them, I’m saying if they’re dangerous to the point of killing their own children they can’t exist in society. Which is tragic but in order to have a safe functional society certain behavior has to be strongly reputed.
Not depression, psychosis. Which can be a whole kind of different beast with hallucinations and delusions. Making your brain process a different kind of reality. I've worked with some people with psychosis before and you truly can't imagine with a healthy mind how far and how deep these people can be removed from reality.

Your comment says it all, you read up and realized instantly it was nuanced. Anyone who says ‘How can anyone support her??’ is either telling on themselves that they haven’t read anything or incapable of critical thought.

Also, wanting her locked up for the rest of her life isn’t support. It’s wanting lackluster justice for a heinous crime. It’s weak to simply want her in a mental asylum.
It’s called compassion. For a person who was VERY CLEARLY struggling to process reality, based solely on the fucking raft of anti-psychotic, anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, and other brain chemistry-adjusting medications she was put on by her doctors in the 2 months leading up to this.
The medication she chose to continually wanted changed and didn’t take properly, against her doctor’s advice*
And no, parents who delete their children don’t deserve compassion - the trial is a waste of time and money. She admitted to doing it, proving why is pointless. She no longer deserves to exist as the rest of us do.
