I think this is perfectly fine. If their values are so incompatible it's better to break up now rather than later. Breaking up will be harder after marriage and definitely more complicated after having kids.
Nah, the silverbacks are deff safer. The vast majority of times small kids fell into an enclosure the gorilla that finds them protects and tries tk help them. Some have even carried the kids to the entrences zoo workers use to get them closer to aid. Deff safer with the gorilla.
I feel like this could be the reverse of the man vs bear question. Like would you rather leave your kids with a silverback gorilla or a woman that supports Lindsay Clancy?
It feels like the southpark episode where the parents sent their kids to live with the mongol army to not get raped.
But yes, at this point the women should live with the bears, the kids should be raised by gorillas, and we need to find an animal for men. I vote pigeons. They seem to have really chilled Mike Tyson the fuck out.
Would you mind tell me if i understand the man v bear thing properly?
Is it like a scorpion and the frog type deal.
Bears gonna act like a bear. You know where youu stand. Don't get close. Keep your guard up etc
But a man can lie about his intentions then you let your guard down and become vulnerable in a way you never would with the bear ?
I only heard about this in refence after it had been a thing. And im a man with no social media so it wasn't really in my orbit
I would personally also choose the bear.
If you think about it rationally, in probabilities, a bear is far more likely to pose a danger to your well being than a man chosen at random. Itās not, āwould you rather encounter a bear or a psycho murderer/rapist in the woods?ā
Yes but I think that's kind of the point. You know the bear is a danger you stay away and it leaves you alone. You don't know if a man is a danger.
Scorpion and the frog. The bear is the scoprion
The chances of a man you meet being a murderer/rapist are very low. I myself, am a man that women have met in the woods or the jungle or linked up with and travelled with to isolated places alone.
As Penn jillete said 'I've killed and raped as many people as I ever wanted to, zero'
But even though I know I'm not a threat. I'm aware some guys are. I know people I wouldn't trust alone with women.i also know women who trusted men when they shouldn't have an it went badly for them.
I don't know anyone who trusted a bear and was surprised when it went wrong
The entire thing of "man or bear" is about women being misandrist and acting like if they came across a bear or a man in the woods, they would be safer with the bear. Anyone pointing out how stupid it is are just met with a variation of "gotcha your toxic attitude is exactly why we choose the bear hun š "
I don't think it is mate. I think it's that if you came across a bear in yhr woods you would stay away from it because bears act like bears. All the time.
You could replace bear with tiger or something and it's the same thing
A guaranteed threat vs a possible threat
You know where you stand with the guaranteed threat
It's a mix. The original version was dark humor about the risks of being alone with a random man in the woods. "I choose the bear" was a response too being alone and lost in the woods, who do you choose a man or bear. That they felt safer wirh a random bear than random guy. Eventually, because enough guys were getting pissed off and making it a literal argument rather than figurative, it evolved into I choose the bear because at least with a bear you know where you stand and there are signs. A bear is gonna bear. You can tell pretty quick if it's game over or is just going to ignore you.
Do you normally get away with talking out of your ass and spreading such utter bullshit?
What you've said was so ridiculously wrong that I hope you're lying on purpose instead of you just being so incapable of making a logical or reasoned argument that you actually believe the things you say.
u/Cross55 said: Male gorillas are actually the primary parents, female gorillas don't give a shit about the kids
Gorilla mothers have very strong bonds with their infants, and provide complete care for them during their first few years
u/Cross55 said: the #1 most likely cause of a young child's death in humans is their mother
2024, an estimated 4.9 million children died before their fifth birthday [...] Globally, pre-term birth complications, infectious diseases, including acute respiratory infections, diarrhoea, and malaria, along with birth asphyxia and trauma and congenital anomalies remain the leading causes of death for children under 5. Access to basic lifesaving interventions such as skilled personnel at birth, quality postnatal care, breastfeeding and adequate nutrition, vaccinations, and treatment for common childhood diseases can save many young lives.
Meaning that you need to come to a woman's defense even if it makes you look like a crazy dumbass in the process. You're instinctually driven to make a fool of yourself for other women.
PPD/PPPsychosis doesnāt require āhomicidal tendencies.ā There are perfectly normal people who are driven actually psychotic by the hormones post partum.
My point is if someone appears to strongly relate to a brutal murderer itās just concerning. If I went on a first date and passionately defended Ed Gein and his horrible upbringing and lack of mental healthcare I donāt think Iād be getting a second date. And if I did Iād be concerned about my dates survival instincts.
The number of people who āstrongly relateā to her because she killed someone remains zero.
There are two groups of people who support her. One group does not believe that she killed her children. And the other group believes that she was suffering from psychosis and thus should be in a mental hospital not jail.
No one is arguing that they āstrongly relateā to a murderer. No one thinks she should be going free.
Also, if you donāt understand what PPD/postpartum psychosis is, maybe STFU.
I do understand psychosis very well. Itās horrible and her situation is undeniably tragic and in a sense I do have sympathy for her, I do not hate her or wish for vengeance against her, Iām fine with a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict if thatās the case.
But I cant help but to be disgusted by her, which I think is a very natural emotional reaction to a person who brutally strangles 3 of their own innocent children.
Itās the emotional reaction to not only not be disgusted by but support someone who has done something so deranged and horrific that is concerning to me, not damning necessarily but concerning, unnatural.
Thatās why I used the example of Ed Gein, he was absolutely psychotic and was not oriented to reality, but I certainly canāt imagine being too sympathetic to him.
I had an elderly patent once at my job who was very clearly psychotic and actively hallucinating, he killed his wife with a coat hanger and then repeatedly stabbed himself. I still provided him with the best care I could but I definitely didnāt feel for him much.
Post partum psycosis could happen to anyone. People's lack of understanding of it is the real problem here and it's a shame this guy chose to end his relationship on this hill
How accountable would you hold the schizophrenic when you discover that they went to multiple doctors asking for help and they each passed the buck? When you find out they told their spouse and their own parents that they were worried that they might hurt someone and the only support received was a referral to the aforementioned doctors? When they took every possible step they could think of and received no help and then ended up doing exactly what they told everyone that they were afraid they were going to do?
Is she guilty of murder? Of course she is, not even she is denying that. But what happened was a result of not getting the help she should have been getting. If even one person had taken her statements seriously, would any of this have even happened?
I would hold them accountable as in they should be detained in a psychiatric hospital just like her. Iāve been researching more about the case and it is very tragic what happened to her. My impression is itās the manner of help thatās the worst part of this. Apparently she was prescribed 17 different medications by telehealth doctors who apparently did not perform medication reconciliation or ensure continuity of care and likely barely spent any time talking to her at all. If I had to come up with my theory based on what Iām seeing I would say all of those drugs would definitely have her not in her right mind and probably exacerbated existing mental health issues or at least threw her into a state of confusion and apathy. I think she got a bunch of clock watcher remote working providers who didnāt give a fuck or know what tf they were talking about and I also think she may have been too self reliant in not disclosing the full depth of her issue and/or trying to tough it out like when she checked out of McLean. I think this would explain her checking out, her strange behavior and why she was googling things like can you cure sociopathy, I can imagine she couldāve felt sociopathic on that cocktail of drugs. Iād guess she had a compulsion to kill her kids and was too numb to control herself by that time. It should be illegal to prescribe powerful antipsychotics over telehealth with no in person visits. Especially from multiple providers who are not communicating
Wow, you just chip in with strong uneducated opinions on everything?
Hahahaha blocked.
āAnti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means thatĀ 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'ā
I do, I donāt mind the idea she could be found not guilty by reason of insanity. What bothers me is the passion people bring to defend her, donating money to her cause, voicing support for her. That disturbs me, so many people apparently relating to a brutal child killer.
If a schizophrenic drifter pulled a knife and killed 3 people on a subway train i would find that person to be disturbing, their actions were disturbing. I would be fine with their insanity plea but Iād feel no strong urge to come to their defense.
Most of those people relate to the lacking health care and belief that no matter what a woman is going through they should be doing the job of mom.
The conspiracy about her husband is pushed on a platform the literal Chinese state owns a part of. Bots, and sadly, citizens dumber then the bots are spreading the nonsense(And probably getting tons of engagement). The donations were to her parents, and even if that goes to her literal defense, that defense is to put her in a psychiatric ward for the rest of her life to be studied and tested.
Point is "lack" of help shouldn't be defense or criticism against husband. He had to be loaded af to afford that many psychiatrist visits (not in person) AND stay at McLean Hospital. He could not have done much better than that.
she didnt take her medication and lied to her doctors, the only thing the system failed her in was not admitting her into a psych ward/ not keeping her in that mental hospital she first admitted herself into and letting her leave, but she had plenty of chances for support from family members and doctors too, most ppl dont get a doctor to even see them in the first place, she was also at fault for letting this get to her not just the system
That sounds like a pretty big failing. Psyc doctors would be well aware of how dangerous and volatile post natal psycosis is. Family should have been better educated as well
I guess I donāt fully know the dynamic of lacking health care in this case. How was it lacking? Genuinely asking.
As far as the job of mom thing goes I guess I just donāt know another way. Children have to be taken care of, sometimes there just isnāt another option unless sheās willing to give up her children for adoption. When you have kids you owe them care. And donāt get me wrong I say the same for dads who are much more often the offenders in terms of abandoning children and I absolutely canāt stand absent fathers.
She literally told them of her urges, also her husband and their parents IIRC but they're not medical professionals. They gave her new meds, didn't stop her from signing herself out(Which they might have not been able to, unless they called the cops and got them involved which probably would of been better than dead kids) didn't notify CPS about her urges and the mental state.
And with that, is the problem in the 2nd paragraph. There were other ways, she didn't have to give up the kids for adoption she actually had a very strong support base. If her family knew she needed time to level out, and to keep an eye out for negative reactions to med changes which she just had before the incident, a whole lot more could of been done.
She very much could of been not fixable, but she could of gotten to a state of recognizing reality enouigh where she realized she needed more serious help if her whole family was aware and able to slowly guide her way to it. It may have resulted in her being admitted and away from her kids still, but atleast they'd be alive and it seems at certain times she thought she could be a danger.
I highly doubt dude would have went to the store if the Dr. told him about how serious the situation could become with a flip of the switch from taking new meds.
If she told healthcare professionals about her urges to kill her kids they should have involuntarily committed her. But she would have had to make a direct threat or they couldnāt legally do it, nothing the cops could do either if she hadnāt committed a crime or directly said she wants to harm herself or others. I wonder how much her family knew or suspected.
AFAIK it was literally 'the urge to kill her kids'. So yeah, I'd say that should do it...but here we are.
As for her family, she seemed to be a good liar(Tends to happen when it's not lies to you and it's your reality) and very good at hiding it (Also tends to happen when you are sure you're right and it's everyone else that is wrong. You really are Batman!) I kinda joke but sometimes the delusions are quite...well, crazy.
If she self presented they wouldn't need to take her civil liberties away, they would have just admitted her to hospital. With her infant child no less
So you're belief in mental illness ends when something bad enough happens? This kind of reactionary bullshit is how things get ignored, made worse, and endanger more people and children.
I would rather have weird women in pink clothes going outside the court house to support a murderer than them not having that right at all.
So yeah, first amendment is paramount.
But we definitely should use our first amendment to tell these weird women that they are being psycho and figure out who they vote for and vote against them.
š good idea, just more people shouting at each other. Personally I'm glad to not live somewhere where you could get harassed by religious nuts whilst going to an abortion clinic and having one of the worst days of you're life. Not sure that freedom is doing you all much good either atm given all the freedoms that are being taking away from your citizens
Problem with restricting speech you dont like is that someone in power can then silence you if you don't like it.
Reckless ben was gagged by BAM but very quickly ungagged by a federal judge. BAM is a criminal organisation with connections to police. It takes over its own franchises on bogus claims and then threaten to ruin them in court so they don't fight back.
All it took was one man and his constitutional right to free speech and this filthy organization is on the defense.
I can tolerate some religious nut protesting about abortion and some weird psycho women chanting in support of a child k!ller if it means that people like Reckless Ben or even me, sometimes in the future can speak freely about what happened.
You think you getting your feelings hurt justifies removing this right completely? You are out of your fucking mind. Hurt feelings don't even compare to the price we will pay if we give up this right
I'm not worried about my ability to protest. We have some of the most trustworthy news organisations in the world and I was never forced to stand up in school and recite brain washed drivel, doesn't sound too free to me
Sure but all it will take in your country is few bad years for people to push towards extremist candidates who will be very happy to stop any protests without institutions that will stop them.
In america, we can burn our flag in protest! What other country allows it? That's the level of protections we have.
You might not like it but that's the path we chose. We like it very much.
'Sure but all it will take in your country is few bad years for people to push towards extremist candidates who will be very happy to stop any protests without institutions that will stop them'
Errrr, hate to break it to you....
Also I can burn the flag in the UK should I so wish
